  • Baby Survives Abortion Amazing Story

When Melissa Ohden was just 14 years old, she discovered a shocking secret — her life was anything but ordinary.

Melissa, now 39, discovered that as a baby in the late ’70s, she had actually been aborted by her 19-year-old birth mother through a 5-day long saline abortion. This type of abortion is rarely performed today because it carries a high rate of complications, including failure.
Ohden’s birth mother was thought to be only 20 weeks pregnant, but after the baby was delivered, still alive, the doctors estimated her to be closer to 31 weeks.

The medical experts on her case predicted that she would not live for very long and that if she did survive, she would have severe disabilities due to the respiratory and liver damage she had incurred, along with seizures she displayed.
    Remarkably, however, she survived.
Melissa was transferred to a larger hospital with more intensive neonatal care when she was 21 days old, where she remained until she was about three months old. She required oxygen and monitoring and a feeding tube, but incredibly, did not require anything more than most premature babies. She was adopted right before she turned three months old and grew up in a loving and caring family, without any physical problems as a result of the abortion procedure.

It wasn’t until her older sister had an unplanned pregnancy that her parents decided to disclose the truth about Ohden’s birth. Although Melissa explains that while she had always known that she had been adopted, finding out the truth about her birth was devastating.
“I was initially angry when I found out about my survival, but I struggled more with self-hate than I did hating my birth mother or anyone else involved in the situation,” she tells Babble.

Melissa began searching for her birth parents at the age of 19 and wasn’t able to locate them until she found her own medical records at the age of 30. When she finally did locate them, she was shocked to discover that she was actually living in the same city as her birth father. She sent him a letter letting him know that she was alive and well and that she held no bitterness or anger towards him. She didn’t receive a response back, and he died only six months after she contacted him. And although she never connected with him, his family did find her letter, leading Ohden to develop a relationship with her paternal grandfather and great aunt.

Tracking down her birth mother proved to be more difficult. Initially only able to find her maternal grandparents, her grandfather responded that they would not be able to pass on the message to her birth mother that she was alive and hoping to reconnect.
“I had to find peace in that, which I did, and really gave up any hope of hearing from her,” explains Melissa. But everything changed in 2013, when a cousin contacted Melissa and she finally found a way to get in touch with her birth mother, who, it turns out, was coerced into the abortion and had no idea that Melissa had survived.

What happened next in her journey is detailed in Melissa’s upcoming book, You Carried Me: A Daughter’s Memoir, that will be released in January. Today Melissa is a writer, speaker, and social worker who lives in Kansas City along with her husband, Ryan, and their two daughters, Olivia, 8, and Ava, 2.

Melissa has faced tremendous obstacles in her life since that fateful beginning, including a devastating miscarriage of her only son, her second daughter being born with medical challenges, and, ironically, giving birth in the very hospital where her own life almost ended.

“It’s like something out of a movie, right?!” Melissa notes.
But she says that her experiences, especially with the special needs of Ava, have helped her entire family grow close together. “[She] not only taught me a lot about life, parenting, [and] the plight of many families whose children face health issues, but also allowed me to become a mother and woman that is stronger and more capable than I ever knew I could be. I’m grateful for that,” she says.

Melissa travels around the world telling her story and working with her non-profit, the Abortion Survivors Network, which connects individuals like her, who often feel ashamed and embarrassed about their past.

It was at one of her speeches that Melissa got a special surprise from one dinner attendee, Michelle Lehr, 59, who was actually one of the volunteers who had cared for her while she was a baby in the NICU.
Lehr had looked up Melissa when she was in town and was overjoyed to have the chance to see her again. “I recognized her immediately and without question,” Lehr says. “I had gazed at her so hard that day 35 years prior, that I could not forget her face.”

Melissa and Lehr quickly picked up the bond they had forged all those years ago and Ohden found some peace and healing in knowing that her beginning had made a difference in someone’s life. “It meant the world to me to know that I was not forgotten,” explains Melissa.

Lehr has once again become a source of support in Melissa’s life, helping her through her daughter’s health challenges. “It’s amazing to see how our lives connected not only 39 years ago, but now remain interconnected for life,” she says.
And although the journey has not been easy and at times “very painful,” Ohden says that her anger over what happened to her as been replaced by forgiveness and that she is grateful to have forged a relationship with her birth mother.
“We love one another and plan to be a part of each other’s lives,” she explains. “She knows that she can not replace my mom [and that] her motherhood to me was stolen, essentially, but she is thankful to my parents for how they raised me and knows that she has a special place in my heart and in my life. Now, we have a new beginning together.”

  • Do Children Still Believe In Santa?

Do kids still believe in Santa?

With Just over a month to go until the big day, a new company is offering to make a Realistic Santa CCTV footage video of Santa in your home. Using green screen technology Santa CCTV uses your own home photos to produce the video.
Do your kids still believe in Santa? We do!

According to a poll done by www.santacctv.co.uk Eighty-one percent of parents with kids ages 10 or under say at least one of their children thinks Santa Claus is real. Another 14 percent say their kids have outgrown the belief, while 9 percent say their kids never believed in Santa in the first place. One-in-three youngsters in the UK join in the ritual to save their mum and dad from “getting sad” on Christmas day.
Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of adult respondents believe it’s OK for kids to believe in Santa, although they pick age 12 as the average age at which children should learn the truth.
Just over one-fifth of parents with kids between the ages of 11 and 17 say their kids still believe in Santa Claus.
Three-quarters of the adults surveyed say they believed in Santa as kids, up until the age of 9.

Refreshingly, there’s little sign of a partisan gap. Older people, though, are a little more likely to have believed — 80 percent of those ages 45 and older say that they did, compared to just 66 percent of those under 30.
One-fifth of people have spoiled Santa for someone!

Seventeen percent of respondents say that they’ve told someone who believed in Santa Claus that he didn’t exist.
Julie Hill from http://www.santacctv.co.uk said ‘Christmas is a magical time, and keeping the spirit of Santa Claus alive is important. Our videos are a little bit of Christmas Magic!’ (santa cctv demo:https://youtu.be/e3sf3pHDc1I)

  • I Was Arrested Over Wellington Boots

October 2014 I split with my partner and the father of my youngest two children after he had cheated on me.

One weeks before Christmas he was due to have his children for four hours from midday, by 1:30pm he still hadn’t arrived.
Finally at 2pm he text me to say he was 15 minutes away and to put the kids Wellington boots in a carrier bag as he wanted to take them to the local woods and park.

He arrived at 3pm and said he would only be taking them for an hour, I had done with arguing with him and couldn’t be bothered with a confrontation, I went to pass him the kids wellys, he walked backwards shouting “physical violence, physical violence” and drove off.
I stood at my front door completely confused, my brother and my children were stood in the front room and were equally confused.
The next day at 5pm whilst eating our evening meal, there was a loud bang on the door.

A male and female police officer were standing at my door, they asked who I was, they then read me my rights and went to handcuff me, they saw my children and asked if I had anyone here to care for them, which I did not.

The police officer said I was to hand myself into the local police station by 9 the next morning for an assualt on my ex a vunerable person, at this point I burst into laughter.

The next day I dropped off my children at school and arranged for a friend to collect them afterwards.
I got to the police station to hand myself in, I was searched, had my fingerprints taken, mug shot done and spent an hour being interviewed.
They locked me in a cell, whilst they made a decision, after an hour they had finally decided.

    NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE!!!

I even said that if I wanted to attack the idiot I’d use something more deadly than some toddler Wellington boots.
My ex had lied but worst he had scared my children, they were worried their mummy would go to prison.
All of this was due to my ex wanting to prove to his new girlfriend the reason he had cheated was because he was too scared to leave me.

  • My child was sexually assaulted but the abuser gets more support.

My child was sexually assaulted but the abuser gets more support.

A few years back my son then aged seven was at school, he came home and was very quiet, he didn’t eat his tea and just stayed in his bedroom.

I thought he was coming down with something, a few days later I was speaking with a mum at the school and she said her son was also being very quiet.
I sat my little boy down and told him, he can tell me anything, absolutely anything and I will support him.

He burst into tears, I held him in my arms for a good ten minutes whilst he sobbed his heart out.
When he calmed, he spat out some words that still haunt me today “mummy a boy pulled my willy hard and made me have his willy in my mouth, he pee’d in me mummy, he said he would Butt fuck me if I told, mummy I’m scared”.

We went to the police and my son said who had done it, a child of eight, a bloody eight year old.

The school gave the abuser far more support than my child, nothing would be done because of his age, he had attacked four children the youngest being only five years old.
My son has had to move school and sees a councillor, he still has nightmares, my once happy child is a shell of his former self, now I completely understand that the abuser may himself have been abused or hurt but surely the victims should be shown more love and support.

My sons old school were more worried about it getting out to the press than the damage done to the children. We have never even received an apology from the child, his parents or the school. We are left here alone trying to pick up the pieces.

If you think a child is being abused please don’t hesiate to report it, https://www.gov.uk/report-child-abuse

  • I Got My Council House Through Lies, I’m Not Ashamed

I got my council house through lies and I’m not ashamed.

Back In 2010 I was living at my boyfriends Mums house, in a cramped room, we both worked really hard to make a living but never seemed to make enough to save for a deposit on a flat.
We finally gave in and went to council, they did a banding system.

So Band A was top priority, although I was pregnant, as I wasn’t disabled, had a roof over my head and a job we were given Band C.
In other words we were very unlikely to be housed, we tried so hard to move but with no luck we had no choice but to play the system.

I suddenly came down with depression, my partner played on his bad back from years ago, my soon to be mother in law wrote a letter to the council to say she couldn’t have us living there anymore.
We pretended we were sleeping in my partners work van, I cried to the housing officer, my midwife pleaded our case as did our local councillor.
4 months of waiting and we finally got a viewing, a small two bedroom flat on the 8th floor.

We were second on the list to get it, the ones in front of us turned it down, it wasn’t good enough for them, but we decided begers couldn’t be choosers and jumped at the chance to have a place to call home.

Our first proper home, a place to bring our baby back to.
Yes, we played the system, am I ashamed? no way!!!
We work so hard, why should others who won’t help themselves and already receive so much help get priority.
We pay all our own rent, we have added two new addition to our family and moved to a larger home.
Sometimes us hard workers have to play the system to get anything in life, it’s upsetting that it’s like this but needs must.

  • Pregnant Woman Almost Died After Baby Kicked Through Her Uterus

Pregnant Woman Almost Died After Baby Kicked Through Her Uterus

A pregnant woman narrowly avoided death after her unborn child “kicked” through her uterine wall. Fortunately, the mother and newborn baby both survived this exceptional mishap.

The uterus is connected to the fallopian tubes and the cervix

The woman, was in her 36th week of her pregnancy. She was sent to Hospital on the 17th of October 2016 after suffering from severe stomach pain, the hospital reported in as long with her intensifying abdominal pain, doctors also noted problems with her blood pressure, pulse, and breathing.

The mum had  surgery, just a few months before becoming pregnant, to remove fibroids from her uterus. These are non-cancerous growths that can grow along the wall of the uterus. After discovering this in her medical notes, the doctors quickly carried out a scan where they diagnosed a “high degree of suspected scar rupture of the uterus”.

After making this diagnosis, it took doctors just 5 minutes to rush the mum into a operating theatre. They found the babies legs poking into her abdominal cavity through a 7-centimeter rip in her uterus.

The doctors said the woman’s previous surgery left scar tissue in her womb, leaving the uterus wall far more at risk of breaking/ripping. This is known as a rupture pregnancy.

These are thought to affect less than 5 in 1,000 pregnant women who have previously had a C-section, the risk is far lower for first-time mums and for women who haven’t previously had a C-section. It’s even rare to experience this after having surgery for uterine fibroid.

In this case, both mum and baby were at a huge risk of infection. Thankfully, doctors managed to deliver the baby with complete success. The mum and her baby are now said to be happy and recovering well.

This phenomenon is exceptionally rare but not unheard of, we are all just thankful that the doctors worked so quickly and mum and baby are doing well.

  • I Am An IVF Baby, Don’t Judge My Mum

My name is Sophie and I was born in 1996.

One Evening in March, when I was twelve, my mum and dad sat me down sat.

Being the kind of kid I was, I thought I was in trouble. They both looked anxious and very serious. In the months prior she had been giving me educational books and little mum and daughter talks about reproduction. Now, in retrospect, I realise it was to prepare me for this very moment.
I came into the world a different way

Together my Mum and Dad told me that I wasn’t conceived the way that my sex education teaching was teaching us about. They told me that I was very special. I was an IVF child, and what’s more, I was conceived using a donated embryo. To be honest, I was confused at first, but eventually I felt proud and happy that i must have been very much wanted.

My mum couldn’t have children due to very early menopause. Doctors never found out why this happened, it wasn’t genetic.

Her five sisters had never had a problem.
As for my biological parents, for their privacy, I won’t disclose what led to their need to access IVF. However, after accessing IVF treatments they were blessed with triplets.

They were left with eight embryos, which they kindly decided to donate. I spent four years as a cluster of frozen genetic material before my parents were granted access to these donated embryos. I was the only embryo to survive and be successfully transferred.

It wasn’t until I was a grown woman that I realised that some people thought I was a freak of nature or my mother as a lesser being.

As a student midwife, I often found myself when on placement asking parents of multiples if they were IVF.
I remember asking one mum who had twins if they were from IVF. Her face filled with a kind of shame or fear and she looked at me like she wished at that exact moment I would disappear. She finally confirmed that they were IVF. I smiled and told her that I was to, she instantly looked relieved and the tension fled her face.

It was that moment I began to feel upset and even angry at the ridicule people like her and my mum would have experienced.
I know what it took to get me here, IVF is not an easy process, but these babies are much wanted.

Being a person of IVF has never made me feel ashamed or somehow lesser than others.

At times I felt it’s given me strength that I otherwise wouldn’t have.

I have never doubted that I was very much wanted, I’ve always known I was meant to be here on this earth.

It shouldn’t matter if a baby is conceived “naturally”, through IVF,insemination or surrogate, every baby is a blessing, do not judge our mums!

  • Smacking Children Aganist The Law

Smacking  children will shortly be banned in Scotland, the Scottish Government has just confirmed.

Ministers have announced they will ensure that a Bill brought forward by Green MSP John Finnie would become a new law.
The legislation will remove the defence of ”justifiable assault” in Scots law, which allows parents to use physical punishment to discipline a child.
The move will make Scotland the very first part of the United Kingdom to introduce a ban on the smacking of children.

Should smacking be banned in England, let us know in the comments?
Scottish Labour announced earlier this week it would also support the bill as “the right thing to do”.

    A spokesman said:

“Giving children equal protection against assault will send a clear message to all of us about how we treat each other and underpin Scotland’s efforts to reduce violence”.
“The physical punishment of children is already illegal in 52 countries and the proposal will give children in Scotland the necessary protections to flourish in a healthy environment and encourage the building of stronger relationships between children, their parents and others who care for them.”

“The NSPCC has long campaigned for children to have the same protection against assault as adults and we strongly believe a change in the law would be a common-sense move.”
