An 11-year-old hockey player from Wyoming narrowly escaped tragedy when a razor-sharp skate struck his neck during a game, his life only spared by a newly implemented safety rule.

Carter Lein, 11, was playing defense on the ice for the Oilers Under 12 team against a Park City, Utah team Sunday afternoon when an opponent’s skate lacerated his neck, leaving behind a large, bloody gash.

A new rule implemented this year, requiring neck guards for players aged 18 and under, played a crucial role in saving his life, as a CT scan revealed the cut was just an inch away from his artery.

‘It’s just every hockey parent’s worst nightmare,’ Nick Lein, Carter’s father, told Cowboy State Daily.

‘I grew up playing, and I knew those things could happen, but it was never a fear of mine,’ he added. ‘And you know, when we played, we didn’t wear neck guards.’

During the game, Carter was working to prevent a loose puck from crossing the goal line while players from the opposing team were simultaneously trying to score.

‘I was facing the puck and I did trip my opponent, accidently,’ Carter told Oil City News. ‘When I tripped him, he was going down and while he was going down, his skate came up and got me good in the neck.’

‘I didn’t really feel is because of adrenaline, but I knew something bad happened.’

When the puck went into the net, Carter collapsed to his knees in front of the goal. He then released some equipment and skated to the team bench, where his father – one of the coaches of the team – initially thought he was holding his chin. 

‘And then I just kind of saw the panic on his face and could hear him saying, “My neck, my neck,”‘ Nick told Cowboy State Daily. 

‘You sometimes hear about these crazy stories happening and you just never think it is going to happen,’ he added. ‘It was definitely terrifying.’ 

Laura Lein, Carter’s mother, watched anxiously as her son skated toward the bench. Rising from her seat in the crowd, a mother’s instinct told her something was wrong as she slowly walked towards the scene, her eyes fixed on him.

Fear only grew when Nick had his son remove his hand from his neck, exposing a deep wound caused by a skate. In an instant, he raised his arms up and urgently for a medic.

‘Pandemonium just kind of rang out,’ Laura told Cowboy State Daily. ‘The buzzer sounded and I started running. I called to anybody to call 911.’

The scene quickly turned into chaos. Multiple parents began running to the bench, while others dialed emergency services.

‘Everyone jumped in in a millisecond,’ Carter told Oil City News. ‘Everyone was asking me questions – they were holding my neck, they were yelling, they were screaming, and I heard the buzzer.’

Clay Wilson, the team trainer and trained medical professional, quickly removed his own sweatshirt and pressed it against Carter’s neck to apply pressure.

As Laura approached the bench where her son was, she was gently directed to sit in front of him with the goal of keeping him as calm and relaxed as possible.

‘He was being so calm, but he was also crying and saying, “I’m so scared, I’m so scared,” because he remembered vividly the hockey player that passed away from a neck injury like this,’ Laura told Oil City News.

The blade of the skate ultimately lacerated Carter’s throat, an injury eerily similar to former NHL and European hockey player Adam Johnson a few years back.

In October of 2023, Johnson collided with a player on the opposite team and fell toward the ice in front of a crowd of 8,000 spectators.

An opponent inadvertently ‘kicked up’ his left skate as Johnson hit the frozen rink, landing directly on the blade.

The 29-year-old hockey player attempted to get up and skate back towards the team’s bench, much like Carter had, but he eventually collapsed on the ice.

Johnson was rushed to a local hospital where he was tragically pronounced dead. 

As time seemed to stretch both slowly and quickly after the horrific accident, Carter remembered thinking, ‘Am I going to die?’ – haunted by the memory of Johnson’s death.

‘I’m scared. Like, what do I do?’ Carter told Oil City News. ‘I started thinking of places that I wanted to be other than that place. I was trying not to focus on it, but it was hard because of the pain.’ 

A deputy at the jail, who also worked with Nick, quickly rushed to his truck and grabbed his medical bag, using a gauze to apply additional pressure to the wound until the EMTs arrived.

‘It was amazing how many people leapt into action,’ Laura told Oil City News. ‘As a parent, Nick and I – we were there to keep Carter calm, but you just move into survival mode.’

‘You don’t have time to really feel like, “This is my child, this is terrifying.” You just have to act,’ she added. ‘You have to do what you’re being told to do. You have to keep him calm. You just have to survive in the moment instead of feeling it, or you’ll completely lose it.’ 

As parents in the crowd rushed into action, Kevin Anderson, the head coach of the team, did his best to try to keep both the boys and their parents calm.

‘Obviously, Nick was with Carter, so from that point I took on the role of just clearing our kids off the bench,’ he told Oil City News. ‘I didn’t really want the kids to be seeing what was going on. We were just trying to keep the trauma at a minimum.’

‘It was definitely traumatic for them,’ Anderson told Cowboy State Daily, adding how he has been with all of the players on the team since they were just six-years-old.

More than 20 calls were placed to 911, according to Nick, and within two to three minutes, EMTs and firefighters arrived at the arena. 

‘When he was getting wheeled out of the arena on the stretcher, you hear the crowd just go wild for him,’ Laura told Oil City News. 

‘It was just incredible. The whole crowd, our fans, the Park City fans – everybody just erupted for him,’ she added. ‘It was incredible.’

Carter was rushed to the Banner Health Medical Center Emergency Room where he was assisted by a familiar face – Dr. Eugene Duquette, the grandfather of one of his teammates. 

‘We were so incredibly blessed,’ Laura told Cowboy State Daily. ‘Knowing that it was Dr. Duquette, someone that Carter knew and trusted and had been with us the entire season, we are good friends with his family.’

Carter, who had sustained two deep cuts, received eight stitches to close the wounds. A CT scan revealed that one of the cuts was just an inch away from a major artery.

Fortunately, Carter is okay, but he’s uncertain about his future in hockey, feeling nervous about returning to the ice after the traumatic incident.

‘I’m still thinking about it,’ Carter told Oil City News. ‘When I was in the hospital, I was telling my parents I never wanted to play again. I didn’t want to do anything like that.’

‘But today, I’m really stuck because just a few days before, in school, I had to write down a little poem, and I said that if an injury happened it would ruin my whole dreams,’ he added. ‘And that was only like two days before it happened. So it’s just… I don’t know yet.’

Nick told Cowboy State Daily that hockey has been his son’s ‘passion and dream’ for the last six years. However, both he and Laura support whatever decision Carter makes.

‘Hockey has been my life since I was 3 or 4 years old,’ Nick told Cowboy State Daily. ‘And for me, if he decides he doesn’t want to play anymore, then he doesn’t, and my wife and I will completely support that decision.’

‘It’s been his passion, his dream,’ he added. ‘I think over time, he’ll want to play again… I won’t be upset either way.’

Carter is now home, and Laura has described him as ‘resilient,’ though also ‘scared’ and ‘shaken’ by the incident. 

Yet Carter’s parents remain immensely grateful for the mandated neck guard, as it is the piece of equipment that saved their son’s life.

‘This time last year, player’s weren’t wearing neck guards, which is a scary thought,’ Laura told Oil City News. USA Hockey implemented the mandate in August of 2024. 

‘As a player, you just never think something like that is going to happen to you,’ Nick told Oil City News. 

‘And then, when it comes to coaching and having your own kid and other people’s kids out there, it’s everybody’s worst fear. But I’m super grateful that this mandate has been implemented.’ 

Anderson told Oil City News that, despite hearing some complaints about having to wear neck guards, he firmly believes those concerns will fade.

‘Obviously the protective equipment is there for a reason,’ Anderson told the outlet. ‘Had Carter not been wearing that neck guard, we could be looking at a much different situation here.’

Carter has since returned to school and ‘feels like a normal kid again,’ according to Cowboy State Daily.

‘Looking back on it now, it was very, very surreal,’ Laura told the outlet. 

‘I have more emotion about it now because I am not in survival mode. I can actually feel what had happened, and I find zero words to describe it.’

The sweet snap came shortly after Michelle’s mother, Jackie, broke her silence on the birth of her grandchild with a sweet Instagram post.

She took to her Stories on Monday to re-share a touching message which said ‘happiness’ is when you get a hug from your granddaughter.

The post read: ‘Happiness is when your granddaughter comes up to you and gives you a big hug ”just because”.’

As well as Michelle, Jackie shares a son, Andrew, with her ex-husband, Michael Keegan, whom she split from when Michelle was nine. 

Andrew works as a deputy headteacher and keeps his life out of the spotlight, while Michelle also has a stepsister, Nichola Corfield. 

Michelle’s mother Jackie is said to be over the moon at becoming a grandmother and has been supporting her daughter in every way. 

A source told The Mirror: ‘Jackie is over the moon to be a grandma. Palma is her first grandchild and she is besotted, as are the whole family. She’s so proud of Michelle.’

Insiders also told the publication that Jackie has been a ‘pillar of support’ and a frequent visitor at Michelle and Mark’s Essex home since the baby’s birth. 

Mark and Michelle have even built a designer granny flat at their £3.5million mansion, meaning the couple’s parents can stay and help out whenever they like with their own space.

The 60 sq ft annexe – which is bigger than the average London flat – is used by family members when they come to visit their dream home.

Mark has described fatherhood as the ‘biggest achievement’ of his life since welcoming baby Palma into the world with Michelle on March 6. 

Chatting with his best friend and fellow dad Olly Murs on his Heart Breakfast show, Mark recalled the moment he first held his newborn daughter in his arms. 

Mark fought back emotions as he said: ‘Mate, it’s actually hard to put into words. 

‘It’s the biggest achievement of my life its all I think about but obviously, hats go off to my wife she is an absolute superhuman, a superhero for bringing this baby into the world.’

Sharing his appreciation for Michelle, he added: ‘It makes you realise what our mums did for us and makes me have so much more respect than I already had and what women had to go through.

‘It’s the best feeling in the world. I wake up every morning just so excited to see her face.’

Recalling the first moment he held Palma, he continued: ‘That moment when I held her in my arms, it gets me emotional now thinking about it. 

‘I suppose everything else goes out the window and its made me realise what life is all about and my little baby Palma I love you so much and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.

‘It’s a very special feeling. I can’t really put it into words. We’ve waited a little bit of time, we’ve chased our dreams and our careers and now we’re here. We’ve got a baby.’

Mark and Michelle announced the news of their daughter’s birth last Wednesday with a sweet snap shared to Instagram. 

In a sweet black-and-white photo, the proud new parents held Palma’s tiny hand, with the newborn dressed in a crochet set.

It’s believed the couple chose the name Palma because of their strong links to Mallorca, their go-to holiday destination and the setting for their pregnancy reveal photoshoot.

Michelle married Mark in May 2015 and the couple live together in an Essex mansion they built from scratch.

The parents of a young girl who died after contracting measles last month in West Texas are speaking out about their position on the MMR vaccine.

The child, age 6, died on Feb. 26 after being hospitalized in Lubbock, as reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services. 

The agency stated it was “the first death from measles in the ongoing outbreak in the South Plains and Panhandle regions” — adding that the child was not vaccinated.

On March 15, the child’s parents spoke with Children’s Health Defense about the experience in an interview that aired on “Good Morning, CHD.”

The family lives in Seminole, Texas, in Gaines County, which is where the vast majority of measles cases have occurred in the current outbreak.

When the girl, named Kaylee, first got sick, the parents said they figured it was measles because the illness was “going around” in their community.

Two days after the girl developed a rash, her mother took her to the doctor, who provided a cough remedy and recommended fever-reducing medication.

Although Kaylee’s measles started to go away, she began developing complications, including a fever that continued to rise, her parents told Children’s Health Defense.

“And then I just noticed one morning that she was saying she was getting very tired, and I was just noticing her breathing wasn’t normal,” the girl’s mother said. “That’s when we decided to take her to the emergency room.”

At the hospital, in addition to measles, Kaylee was found to have pneumonia in her left lung. She was admitted to the ICU and put on a ventilator.

“I just remember before they wanted to put her on the ventilator that she was very thirsty,” the mother said in the interview. “Her mouth was all sticky and I wanted to give her water, but they didn’t let me.”

The child passed away shortly after that.

The couple’s four other children developed measles after their sister’s death — but all recovered after receiving breathing treatments, the parents said.

Even after their daughter’s death, the parents are not proponents of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR vaccine).

As of March 20, a total of 378 confirmed measles cases had been reported in 18 U.S. states.

“We would absolutely not take the MMR [vaccine],” Kaylee’s mother said. “The measles wasn’t that bad. They got over it pretty quickly.”

The couple said they have not yet received their daughter’s death certificate, noting that it is possible she died of pneumonia rather than measles.

The girl’s father added that measles could help to “build people’s immune systems in the long run.”

“God does no wrong, and He wanted this to wake people up,” he told Children’s Health Defense. “He’s woken us up for sure, to start a better life and come closer to Him.”

What to know about the MMR vaccine

Texas DSHS has reported that the majority of measles cases have been mostly unvaccinated, school-aged children.

Measles is a highly contagious virus for those who have not previously been infected or vaccinated, with up to a 90% chance of transmission.

The MMR vaccine is one of the most common childhood inoculations and has been a requirement for school attendance since its development in the 1970s.

“The standard recommendation from health authorities like the CDC is a two-dose series of the MMR vaccine,” Fox News medical contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier previously told Fox News Digital.

“For most people, these two doses provide lifelong immunity — about 97% effectiveness against measles.”

Each person’s situation is different and should be weighed carefully after a thorough conversation with a trusted medical team, Saphier added.

Dr. Marc Siegel, clinical professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center and Fox News’ senior medical analyst, also emphasized the importance of measles vaccinations — “particularly with the number of circulating measles cases and underimmunized people coming into the U.S. at a time when there is a big measles surge around the world.”

“The standard recommendation from health authorities like the CDC is a two-dose series of the MMR vaccine.”

For those who are traveling to an area where a measles outbreak is occurring, Siegel recommended they see a doctor for a measles “titer test” and get a booster if they are not showing immunity. (The titer test measures an individual’s level of immunity to the virus.)

A woman was left speechless after discovering her husband’s infidelity, but his reaction to her finding out only made things worse

Discovering that a partner has been cheating is an incredibly painful experience. When there’s undeniable proof, it can feel as though trust has been shattered beyond repair.

For some couples, the idea of moving forward together may no longer seem like an option – and for one woman, her husband’s attitude was something she couldn’t forgive.

Shockingly, the woman – who has chosen to stay anonymous – revealed she had found out her husband hadn’t been loyal to her after she’d overheard his conversation with another woman through her baby monitor.

The mother frequently takes her 15-month-old son to her mother’s house while her husband is away at work for long hours. On this occasion, she inadvertently left one of the baby monitors turned on in their home before she left.

While caring for their child, the social media user accidentally overheard a phone call her husband was on. In her Reddit post, she shared that she heard him say, “I love you, baby,” followed by a woman responding with the same words.

“I also heard him say he’s off work tomorrow, he conveniently didn’t send me his schedule so I didn’t know,” the mum said. She soon realised the pair had been having an affair for months.

After being caught in the act, the husband confessed though he admitted that he had ended things with his mistress. But she couldn’t stand the sight of him. She wrote: “I asked if he wanted to work on things still, he said ‘I’m here by myself, being faithful to you, why can’t you get over this.” The cheat also had his lover in their house and their bed.

Shocked and disgusted by the revelation, the woman kept watching her husband through the baby monitor, unable to believe he had truly ended his affair.

Her suspicions were later confirmed when she noticed he seemed distracted during their conversation. “A couple of days ago, he was on the phone with her, and while talking to her, he texted me,” the Redditor explained.

“Then, he got a call and said: ‘Sorry baby, this is important, I have to take it.’” She has finally had enough and admitted she is keeping her son away from him and also moved out. “It makes me sick to go there and be near him and pretend everything is ok until I get a lawyer, but also makes me sick thinking of her in my home again (yes he’s had her in my home, in my bed),” the frustrated user wrote.

In the comments section, social media users shared the same advice for her. One person penned: “I’d honestly start having your mom come there. Make it inconvenient as hell for him.”

“He’s probably told her you split, so no longer coming to your home will raise some red flags. Time to become a mother first and protect your child for their future,” another person wrote. “Shut off wife mode and do everything you can to secure your baby’s future.”

“You’ve got to think long game. If you play along and get your ducks in order behind the scenes the fallout will be more beneficial for you,” wrote a third person.

MAGNA — The father of an infant who died in the hospital was arrested Friday afternoon for alleged murder, according to the Unified Police Department.

On Mar. 14, the UPD Magna Precinct said they responded to a call at the apartment complex on 8762 W. Coppertree Ln.

The UPD said the call was from Armando Valenzuela, 24, who said his infant son became unresponsive and stopped breathing. Call records revealed that dispatch provided Valenzuela with instructions to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the infant.

Valenzuela said the infant became fussy, and he then went to go to the kitchen to grab his bottle when the infant began screaming louder, according to the affidavit.

UPD said the child became limp and unresponsive when Valenzuela picked him up.

The mother, Sierra Linder, said she was out of the house picking up her brother when Valenzuela called her, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit stated the child was transported to Primary Children’s Medical Center by Unified Fire Authority.

On Mar. 17, the child passed away.

Autopsy reports discovered the infant had various types of hemorrhaging, as well as multiple rib fractures with some in different stages of healing.

The affidavit stated that injuries are most consistent with abusive head trauma.

UPD said when interviewing Linder, she said the infant had no health concerns but became fussy when changing his diaper or rubbing lotion on his body.

When questioning Valenzuela, he denied doing anything to his son, according to the affidavit.

Per the affidavit, Linder said their son would only go into loud screams when he was alone in the bedroom with Valenzuela.

UPD said Valenzuela was arrested for alleged murder and aggravated child abuse.

Killer mother Joanne Sharkey, 55, from Liverpool, was not identified until recently when cold case detectives found a match for her older son in national DNA databases

A twisted mother who suffocated her newborn baby uttered chilling words to her husband after committing the abhorrent crime, a court has heard.

Joanne Sharkey has pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility over the death of the newborn. Sharkey, now 55, buried her son close to the Gulliver’s World theme park in Warrington, Chessington, back in 1998.

She had been suffering from post-natal depression following the birth of her first son in 1996 when she killed the child, Liverpool Crown Court heard. The mum of Denham Close in Croxteth, Liverpool, was charged with murdering the newborn when he was minutes old and concealing the birth of a child.

When she was arrested alongside her husband a year earlier, she admitted she “f***ing did it”, telling police she had tried to keep him from stirring by covering his nose and mouth “to make him quiet”.

The court heard that on March 12, 1998, a man saw a young “upset-looking” woman walking quickly out of the woods in Warrington and, after walking further inside, discovered a black bin bag lying on the ground near the track. Two days later, a dog walker came upon the same bag and punctured it.

The judge was told the baby was taken to Warrington General Hospital. There, the infant was named after the Callands district of Warrington, and a pathologist found him to be a “normally developed, full-term infant”.

Investigators placed the child’s DNA on a national database after conducting inquiries but were unable to conclude what had happened to the child until 2023 when a “periodic review” of the cold case by Cheshire Police identified a match with Matthew Sharkey’s DNA profile.

His profile was added to the national database following an “arrest for an unrelated offence”, and led police to arrest him and his wife on July 25 that year. Sharkey had told officers her husband knew “nothing about it” after they were placed in the back of a police car. The court later heard that a covert recording captured her telling her husband: “I’m not f***ing gonna deny nothing.

“It is what it is, isn’t it? I f***ing did it.” During subsequent interviews with police, Sharkey said her state of mind when considering the prospect of a second child was: “I can’t do this again.” Jonas Hankin KC, prosecuting, told the court she had found the prospect of a full-time job and motherhood “challenging”.

Mr Hankin said: “It is apparent that Mrs Sharkey soon found the combination of a full-time job and motherhood challenging. She has since been diagnosed as suffering from post-natal depression. She told her work colleague and friend Amanda Harper that she did not want any more children after Matthew.

“Nevertheless, the defendant became pregnant again in the summer of 1997. She did not tell her husband. She was 28 years old when she gave birth to her second child in secret in March 1998. She had continued to work in the office full-time throughout the second pregnancy, until she went into labour. She returned to work soon after delivering the infant and disposing of his body.”

Mr Hankin said that Sharkey had said she tried to quieten the child when he was born, telling the court: “She said this: ‘The infant was born. I just had to make him quiet. When asked what she could hear, she responded, ‘He’s making a noise, just a little snuffly, starting-to-cry noise. Not massively loud, just a whimpering sort of cry.’”

Prosecution barrister Jonas Hankin KC said psychiatrists agreed Sharkey was “fearful of becoming a mother to another child” and developed a depressive illness which “substantially impaired (her) ability to form rational judgment and exercise self-control”. Nina Grahame KC, defending, said Sharkey was remorseful and called for prosecutors to recognise the “devastation” that revealing the child’s death “would bring on the people she loved”.

The prosecutor said: “So, she lived with this. She has remembered what she did every single day. Her remorse is genuine and absolute. We say this cannot be in doubt.”

Sharkey was due to be sentenced on Friday afternoon, but High Court judge Mrs Justice Eady said she was “not in a position to go on to pass sentence this afternoon”, and wanted to “make the right decision rather than trying to rush things”.

Sharkey was ultimately not sentenced due to a lack of court time, and sentencing has been moved to either April 3 or 4. In the meantime, the mum was released on conditional bail.

Denise Welch has admitted that she’s a helicopter parent who inserts herself into ‘every aspect’ of her sons’ lives.

The Loose Women star, 66, and ex-husband Tim Healy, 73, are proud parents to son Matty, 36, who is the lead singer of The 1975 and actor son Louis, 24.

Helicopter parents refer to parents who are overly protective and controlling of their children’s lives. They earned this stereotype for being perceived as relentlessly hovering over their children, trying to micro-manage their affairs.

Despite the unfortunate label, Denise has revealed that she happily invades her boys’ lives with ‘military precision’ offering unwanted advice and being meddlesome.

In her latest column with The i Paper, the TV personality has told her that her boys find her so interfering, that they’ve branded her a ‘Poundland Kris Jenner’.

Denise explained: ‘The radar is on full alert at all times and I insert myself into any aspect of their lives I can squeeze into. Totally uninvited, I swoop in with military precision to offer advice and solutions to problems they don’t have.’

She went on to add: ‘I also feel the need to talk to them every day and if they don’t respond immediately to my calls or texts, I wish I could have an all-points bulletin or BOLO [an alert system used by police departments] out on them in minutes. Yes, I watch too much American television.’

She confessed that if they don’t respond to her as soon as possible, she immediately thinks they’re in ‘serious danger’ and goes into panic mode.  

In her column, Denise also joked about having her ‘helicopter parent pilot’s license’ as she constantly ‘hovers’ over Matty and Louis’ lives, with the star even guilty for interfering backstage during Matty’s gigs.

The former Coronation Street star recalled how she wasn’t like this when her boys were younger, noting how she was laidback and often played host to her sons’ parties during their teenage years.

But Denise admitted that she believes that she’s this way because her boys don’t need her as much now they’re grown and successful, with Louis being an up-and-coming actor and Matty being a huge rockstar who once dated Taylor Swift.

Denise added: ‘I ask myself why I became a later-life helicopter mum. I think it’s because I didn’t need constant assurance when they were little that I was the most important person in their lives and now they’re grown, I do.’

She noted that she knows how much her boys love her but realises that they don’t need her to be their ‘life momager’ like the Kardashian matriarch. 

Denise’s words comes weeks after she revealed her pride at the news her rock star son is to headline this year’s Glastonbury festival.

Earlier this month it was announced that Chocolate hitmakers The 1975 will be leading the line-up on Friday alongside the likes of Biffy Clyro and Alanis Morissette when the music festival returns to Somerset’s Worthy Farm in June. 

Taking to Instagram shortly after the announcement, Denise shared an image of the line-up as she told how she would be attending her very first festival, writing: ‘I guess I’ll be going to my first UK festival!!!’ 

The TV personality also shared the snap on her Instagram stories, before excitedly penning: ‘Look who’s headlining on the Friday!!! Popping out to buy some wellies.’

Fans of the actress, who also shares son Louis 24, with Tim, were quick to share their excitement for her in the comments.

One penned: ‘This is amazing ❤️ you must be so so proud!’, while another shared: ‘Proud mom moment for sure!!! So exciting!!!!’ 

Meanwhile, while Denise is thrilled by her boy’s headlining slot, the same couldn’t be said for some Glastonbury fans. 

Moments after the acts, which included Olivia Rodrigo, were announced, fans who had already purchased their tickets took to social media in their droves to complain about the line-up.

Branding it the ‘worst one ever’, they claimed that the globally recognised event had ‘gone so far downhill’ in comparison to previous years.

Fans who didn’t manage to bag entry during the November sale admitted they no longer minded about missing out following the announcement.

A MUM-to-be has been slammed over her unique baby name choice, with people suggesting that the child will struggle with bullying when he is older.

Choosing a name for your baby can be an incredibly difficult task as you want to make sure you pick something unique, but not so out there that your child gets bullied.

Some people opt to name their child after a family member, whilst others choose to name their offspring after a favourite book or film character.

However, one mum has opted to name her son after a mode of transport.

Taking to Reddit, the mum-to-be’s concerned cousin revealed that she was desperate to talk her out of the unusual name.

She said: “I just got invited to the shower for my cousin’s baby, and she’s naming the baby…

“Trucklyn.

“No one is saying anything in the group chat about the fact that they’re going to name this baby Trucklyn.

“I think I have to go to the baby shower to try and get them to change it, or at least figure out why.”

The cousin added that she had tried to figure out if the name was a joke, but had so far been unsuccessful.

Reddit users flooded the comments section with their thoughts, with many critical of the unique moniker.

One person said: “It is your duty to try to convince them to change the name.

“Be like… ‘oh for her first Halloween she can be a Monstertruck!’, just to really let it settle in.”

A second person said: “Poor kid wont stand a chance.”

A third person said: “Is that part of the naming your kid after the place where it was conceived trend, but for poor people who can’t afford to go to Paris?”
