Coronation Street has confirmed a surprising baby twist for the recast James Bailey.

The footballer is returning the Cobbles soon with a new actor portraying him (Jason Callender replacing Nathan Graham), and the announcement teased that “he really wants to be a dad”.

Now it’s been confirmed that he will be involved in Dee-Dee’s storyline, as he asks his sister to let him adopt her baby.

In scenes set to air on Monday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 19, Lauren Bolton tells Dee-Dee that she’s so grateful to her for having the baby and promising to donate the bone marrow.

Dee-Dee skips a hospital appointment to spend time with James who has come to visit, but gets an urgent text from Lauren.

Lauren says that another donor for baby Frankie has been found, meaning they won’t need to wait for Dee-Dee to give birth for the operation to go ahead. Dee-Dee, who has already started doubting the whole situation, masks her emotions.

Later on, James makes a shocking suggestion: that he and his boyfriend Danny could adopt Dee-Dee’s baby and give it a loving home.

She’s stunned, but will she agree to his plan?

Callender has teased that James is “determined” and “whatever he puts his mind to he absolutely goes for it”, hinting that he might really push his sister to say yes.

He added: “James is bringing a lot of warmth, a little bit of love, charisma and a little bit of charm.”

The Bachelor star Grant Ellis has opened up about his father’s past drug addiction, but has yet to reveal his jail stint and slew of legal troubles.

After first sharing with the world on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette that his father struggled with addiction for 30 years, Grant continued sharing his story of growing up with a dad who had an alcohol and drug addiction on his season of The Bachelor.

He confessed to Jenn that his father is newly sober after checking into rehab before the 31-year-old went on the show to find love. 

DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal that Grant’s father, Robert Ellis, has had multiple run-ins with the law that span from the reality star’s early childhood until his teenage years. 

Robert’s addiction affected his relationship with his son and Grant’s mom Renee, whom he divorced while the New Jersey native was in college.

Mr. Ellis’ criminal past includes convictions of possession of controlled substance (CDS), resisting arrest during two different instances with cops, impersonation in the fourth degree, loitering, defiant trespassing as well as numerous traffic citations, such as driving with a license that was suspended.

The former car dealership owner spent at least seven days in jail in New Jersey, according to court records obtained by DailyMail.com.

The first time was in November 1999 after his arrest for aggravated assault in the third degree, eluding in the third degree and resisting arrest in the fourth degree. 

The aggravated assault charge was eventually dropped and in April 2001, he was sentenced to three years of probation and was ordered to comply with drug and alcohol dependency rules for his charges of eluding and resisting arrest.

While his jail sentence at the time was suspended for six months due to his warrant status, according to the judgment of conviction obtained by DailyMail.com, he ended up spending four more days in jail for his conviction in April 2004.

His third time in custody was in February 2005 when he was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the third degree.

While details from the police report are not available to the public due to it being a criminal investigatory record – involving either charges of possession of CDS cocaine, distribution of CDS cocaine or distribution of CDS within 1,000 feet of a school and 500 feet from a park – DailyMail.com was able to obtain a copy of his disposition.

He initially plead not guilty, but then changed his plea to guilty in August 2005. 

Although he didn’t end up spending more time in jail for possession of CDS, in August 2006, a judge sentenced him to three years of probation, ordered him to have regular urine testing, 50 hours of community service, informed him he must ‘maintain full-time steady verifiable employment,’ and he had to pay a $1,000 penalty fee.

He was also ordered to ‘continue attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings and whatever treatment and counseling for substance abuse on an out-patient basis as directed by Probation.’ 

While Robert has avoided legal issues over the years, he was recently sued by a debt collection agency for having an outstanding bill of $948.12.

A complaint filed by LVNV Funding LLC on March 4 in a New Jersey court against Robert indicated that The Bachelor’s father failed to make payments to the original creditor Credit One Bank.

His credit account closed in March 2023 due to him not making payments, according to the complaint.

He now owes $1,005.12 due to additional filing and service fees, per the complaint.

His response is due to the court next month and if he does not respond, the court will automatically issue a ruling.

‘Addiction is a hard thing because, you know, growing up, my pops was everything. Like, he was my superhero,’ he shared. 

‘He used to take me to the park, and he always used to be inebriated or, like, intoxicated under the substance. The worst thing is … I didn’t know.’ 

He continued, ‘When you’re a child, you believe everything, and the one person I trusted most was always lying. So that was something. 

‘In my eyes, I’m like, “You’re a man. Why can’t you do what you have to do?”‘

The TV personality went on to say that his father checked into rehab after losing his job and since then, he and his father reconnected and had a heart to heart.

‘He was like, “Listen, son. This is the first time that you know the real me when I’m not intoxicated.” So I’m, like, really leaning into that. 

‘So now, he’s a little under two months sober, so, you know, I hope he holds strong. And it’s his first time living, too.’

In an August 2024 episode of The Viall Files, Grant shared another update.

‘I’m super proud of him for the progress he’s made, where he’s come from, and what he’s doing now. I just want him to know that he did a good job,’ he said. 

‘I love my father to death, man, and he did the best that he could. It’s his first time living too, and he has this trauma, and he just took a certain route. 

‘And I don’t want him to ever think that I’m, like, bashing him or putting him out there, but you know, this is, it’s my life story.’ 

Grant continues to talk about his dad’s journey and how much of an impact he made in his life. 

In a February episode of Off The Vine Podcast, he talked more about his dad growing up and said that his journey to find love also involves his father.

‘So my dad was an exotic car dealer growing up and he ended up opening a studio. He used to sell cars to like Biggie Smalls and Eddie Murphy,’ he spilled.

‘Our family got pictures with them. That’s how my mom and dad met – they met at Eddie Murphy’s birthday party in New York. So they met there and my dad had a car dealership and one of his clients was RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan. 

‘We used to go to the studio when I was a kid and I used to be in there listening.’

After the March 3 episode of The Bachelor season 29, there are three women left: Juliana Pasquarosa, 28, Litia Garr, 31, and Zoe McGrady, 27. 

When asked if he could tease the ending, he told host Kaitlyn Bristowe, ‘What I can say is that there’s multiple love stories and I’m not talking about with, like, different women. I’m talking about between me and my father. 

‘The emotional connections were so strong that it was difficult at the end. 

‘But ultimately you have to follow your heart and you have to make sure you’re leading with that.’ 

The Bachelor continues with the Women Tell All airing on March 10 at 8pm ET followed by the overnight Fantasy Suite dates on March 17.

Few races in the National Hunt calendar captivate the imagination quite like the Queen Mother Champion Chase, a contest where raw speed meets precision jumping in a spectacular display of equine athleticism at Prestbury Park.

As the crown jewel of day two at the Cheltenham Festival, this Grade 1 steeplechase over two miles has earned its place as one of the most prestigious races in jump racing history.

Since its inauguration in 1959, the race has stood as the definitive test for two-mile chasers. Its renaming in 1980 to honour Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother reflected not just her passion for National Hunt racing, but the race’s elevated status in the sport.

His initial victory in 2013 showcased raw brilliance, but it was his emotional 2016 triumph, following career-threatening health issues, that cemented his legacy. Nicky Henderson’s influence on the race continued through Altior, whose back-to-back victories in 2018 and 2019 formed part of an extraordinary 19-race winning sequence over obstacles. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman says Lyle and Erik Menendez must come clean about their alleged crimes if they wish to be resentenced for killing their parents.

Hochman emphasized on Monday that the brothers must fully acknowledge the lies they told about the shotgun murder of their parents 35 years ago before he would support their release from prison.

“If the Menendez brothers at some point, unequivocally, sincerely, and fully accept complete responsibility for all their criminal actions, acknowledge that the self-defense defense was phony, and their parents weren’t going to kill them the night of August 20th when they murdered them in cold blood. ” Hochman stated at a press conference.

In 1996, the Menendez brothers were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for shooting their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, at their Beverly Hills home in 1989. The case made headlines due to the brothers’ privileged status as children of a record executive. At the time, Lyle was 21, and Erik was 18. Now, they are 57 and 54, respectively.

A recent Netflix documentary examined their claims of sexual abuse, prompting former district attorney George Gascon to advocate for resentencing and their release. However, Hochman, who succeeded Gascon in November, is preparing for a resentencing hearing set for March 20-21, but he plans to ask the judge to withdraw Gascon’s request. For now, Hochman is not buying their stories of abuse.

“If they go ahead and finally come clean with the court, with the public, with the DA’s office, with their own family members, and acknowledge all these lies, and then can be said to have fully and completely accepted responsibility for their actions, in the future, the court can weigh these new insights into making a determination as to whether they now qualify for rehabilitation and resentencing,” he added.

“I’m getting a reversal,” Arie, 43, who got the procedure done in 2022, said in a recent YouTube video. “As you guys know I got the vasectomy after the twins were born. And ever since then, I don’t know. I think I rushed it. Honestly, it’s more on me, I think having the twins was hard at first.”

His wife of six years echoed his statement, revealing that her husband made the decision to get a vasectomy without consulting her when the twins were only six months old.

“He totally convinced me that chapter’s closed,” Lauren, 33, said. “And I’m like ‘Okay,’ and came to terms with that. And now I have to get out of that again. I’m getting there. Arie is totally there.”

It looks like Mae Whitman is venturing into parenthood with a partner.

Months after announcing she welcomed her first baby, Miles, now 6 months, the father of the Parenthood alum’s son has been revealed to be Carlos Valdes. 

In fact, Lauren Graham—who starred as Mae’s onscreen mother in Parenthood from 2010 to 2015—shared that the Duff actress and her little one are currently living on the East Coast to support Carlos’ latest career endeavor. 

“They’re in New York now,” Lauren explained during a March 10 appearance on Dax Shephard‘s Armchair Expert podcast. “Carlos, her baby daddy, is on Broadway in Hadestown, which I feel happy to plug because he’s fantastic in it, Carlos Valdes.”

Noting that she thinks Carlos—who played Mae’s love interest in the 2023 series Up Here—is “really great,” Lauren went on to explain that the family of three’s current locale is only temporary.

“They’re in New York for the next while and then she got this job in Ireland,” the Gilmore Girls alum continued. “So she’s in Ireland with the baby.”

UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn has been known to voice his share of wild conspiracy theories, but his latest is genuinely concerning.

On Monday, Penn posted a pair of Instagram videos in which he appears to not recognize his mother, Lorraine Shin. Penn believes that his mother has been murdered and replaced with another woman.

In the first of two videos, Penn started with a selfie-style, expletive-filled message directed toward “Paul Abiley.” The text caption overlaid on the video reads: “F*ck the Abiley Family. Paul Abiley (Carlos Riveira) with the help of the government murdered my mom and brother!!!! Like & Share. They are trying to steal everything from my family.”

The video then showed Penn’s mother cooking in a kitchen and walking a dog as he continued to explain his theory, while admitting he’s had thoughts of resorting to physical harm.

“This lady right here, look at her ass and legs. She is acting like my 79-year-old mother, but she is not my 79-year-old mother,” Penn stated, as he recorded his mother. “And it’s interesting when you Google ‘Lorraine Abile,’ our house pops up, ’cause this lady acts like Lorraine Inouye. So, you Google ‘Lorraine Abile,’ and this house pops up, and then you look, and my mom’s name starts popping up.”

“… She’s trying to steal everything, and this is not my mother. And I’m putting this out because she’s saying she’s going to get an attorney and try to do something. She’s trying to throw me out and if I attack her, she’ll try to do something, TRO (temporary restraining order) or something else.”

The second video posted to Instagram is similar to the first, but without Penn’s selfie portion, and includes different text captions. “Hilo police, this lady is not Lorraine shin! She is at our Penn family house right now #hawaii,” Penn wrote.

The woman in the video is Penn’s mother.

Penn, 46, has posted multiple pictures and videos with her over the years, which are easily found with an internet search. She was a also key supporter of Penn’s failed political campaign for Hawaii governor in 2022, which she promoted in videos posted to his Instagram account.

In the years before and following his retirement in 2019, Penn has experienced a number of legal troubles, including DUI arrests and a bar brawl assault that led to his UFC release.

A UFC Hall of Famer, former champion and No. 12 on MMA Junkie’s 30 greatest UFC fighters of all time list, Penn’s legacy as a fighter inside the cage has been solidified. However, outside of the cage, his actions have raised speculation of the effects of brain trauma as he continues to display deeply concerning behavior.

Television raised me. I mean, not literally; my parents raised me — but television had a real hand in it. Maybe because I was a chronically indoor kid, or maybe because I was a young, impressionable tween wildly critical of own parents’ “oppressive” rules (likely a little of column A and a little of column B), I took considerable interest in the parental characters on my favorite shows: how they reacted, taught, evolved… and how they messed up. And the parents I loved on TV messed up a lot.

Rewatching some of my favorite shows now, I realized something: So many of the shows I grew up enjoying had chaotic (Felicity; Sister, Sister), absentee parents (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) or, honestly, no parents at all (Party of Five). In their own way, I believe that these “bad TV parents” were culture’s passive way of guiding and empowering millennials to make their own choices as we navigated and processed a veritable minefield of video games, ’90s politics, and the powerful pull of the (early) internet.

Who were they, and how did they put their TV sons and daughters into a TV-lifetime of TV therapy, and yet let us — the young, impressionable, Delias-clad viewers — come out better for it? Let’s get into it.

Gail Leery, Dawson’s Creek

While Joey, Pacey, Dawson, and Jen had their own share of wild messiness, Dawson’s mother, Gail Leery, comes out the gate chaotic on the WB series Dawson’s Creek. Played by Mary-Margaret Humes, the glamorous local news anchor Gail is literally gallivanting around tiny Capeside, Massachusetts, with her side piece/co-anchor: taking him out for drinks, buying him suits, fornicating — you name it — while the men in her life (Dawson, and his sad but earnest dad, Mitch) sit in their own denial for nearly a full season of TV (that’s a 90’s season of 22 episodes, folks — a long time).

By the end of Season 1, every other character knows what’s going on; they’re just trying to find a way to tell Dawson that will truly get through to him. Dawson’s friends eventually succeed in notifying Dawson of his mom’s sexy double life, and the Leerys get unceremoniously divorced in Season 2.

The Lesson

Dawson’s community never gave up on sharing those hard truths with their friend: a straightforward lesson resulting from bad parental behavior, if there ever was one.

Ray Campbell and Lisa Landry, Sister, Sister

The parental chaos is literally in the premise of WB’s Sister, Sister. First of all, what kind of Miss Hannigan-bullsh*t is it to separate identical twin siblings? Do people do that? And beyond that, what kind of parental strangers think, “Hey, my daughter saw another girl who looks just like her on the street — mayyyyybe we should all move to the suburbs together?”

I would personally place more blame on Ray (played by Tim Reid), who willingly let wild-ass Lisa (played by the iconic Jackée Harry) and Tia into his demure home without doing a little recon first, but they all seemed to make it work. Tia and Tamera went to college, got boyfriends, and even repaired some massive familial rifts over the show’s six seasons.

The (Very Millennial) Lesson

When parents take risks, their children (us) are better and more successful for it. Trust!

Every Parent on Felicity

In a show about time-traveling college students with academic ennui, maybe it’s not so surprising that every parent is a complete trainwreck. Where to even begin? We’ve got Dr. Edward and Barbara Porter, who are in deep denial about their loveless marriage and codependency on their only child (so much so that Dr. Ed literally follows his daughter to New York, crashing close to her dorm while he ignores the impending end of his marriage).

We have Ben Covington’s dad, Andrew, a duplicitous conman struggling with alcoholism while manipulating the emotions of both Ben and his mother, who’d been abused by the guy for decades (it’s a testament to Jason Ritter’s charm that I still like the guy after his Felicity stint). Then there are Megan Rotondi’s parents, who are just rich a$$holes, and Sean Blumberg’s parents, who are low-class scammers. The icing on the cake: Elena’s dad’s whole character arc in Season 3 is his disinterest in his daughter’s academic achievements.

The Lesson

Per the world of Felicity, having bad parents who are both clingy and absentee creates very attractive children with fantastic hair, ones who eventually find their calling in life by learning from the mistakes of their elders. Not a bad lesson (unless, of course, you’re Elena pre-time jump, and die in a car crash — spoiler alert).

Diana Spellman, Sabrina The Teenage Witch

Not only is she mortal (ugh), but Diana Spellman, mother of Sabrina Spellman, is always away on an archeological dig in Peru, leaving her beloved treasure of a daughter with two kindly yet dangerous practicing witches. Are the witches family? Yes. But do they often rope a minor into dangerous acts of witchcraft? Also yes.

The Lesson

Even before STTW, the absentee or deceased mother was kind of a TV/Disney trope; here, it was a lesson that when mortal moms are away, the witches will play — so, permission to get creative and let our little tween freak flags fly!

Nobody, Party of Five

The five Salinger siblings literally have no parents, what with them tragically being killed in a drunk driving accident in downtown San Francisco. As a result, the five children — aged from 24 years down to 1) — must run their parents’ business together. It’s a truly insane premise, but an empowering one; for my middle school self, it was like watching adults play house… but for real.

The Lesson

Though the show quickly goes off the rails in a train of after-school-special-like premises, it makes young viewers feel that, with enough siblings, friends, and flannels, you can really do anything you put your mind to.

The Big Takeaway

The ’90s were a crazy time, and navigating them as a young adult was even crazier. As I watch these shows now, I’m really impressed by how these messy parental figures slipped lessons (mostly undetected) into my young and impressionable TV-viewing self. As if almost by their very existence, they were determined to teach us kids life lessons with a stern yet gentle cinematic hand. A real do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do situation, you know?

James Courtney and his wife Tegan have welcomed their second child together, an adorable baby girl named Opal Alice Courtney.

The V8 Supercars star, 44, and model, 36, announced the exciting news on Instagram on Tuesday alongside a tender image of their daughter. 

In the frame, the newborn is seen sleeping soundly in a crib next to a plush toy, covered in a pink bunny blanket. 

The accompanying caption revealed she was born at 7.44am on March 3.

‘Our hearts are full, and out family is complete,’ they wrote.  

Their post was met with well wishes and heartwarming congratulatory messages from friends, family and fans.

The pair shared a precious gallery of loved-up snaps which captured them relaxing in a scenic nature setting with Kobe, while Tegan showed her ultrasound photos to the camera.

James and Tegan happily posed for the camera alongside their toddler son, who wore a jumper with the words ‘Big Brother’ printed on it.
