  • I Never Wanted ‘Mummy Friends’

    Gylisa Jayne’s Facebook post is going viral and it’s clear to see why.  She tells us of her situation and for so many parents it is far too familiar.  Too many of us think we can do things alone, or that we should suffer in silence.  This is simply not the case.

    I never wanted ‘ Mummy Friends’.

    I didn’t want to sit in noisy soft plays, or talk about different coloured shit.

    I didn’t want to have knowledge about best nappy brands, or know exactly how many fanny stitches we all had.

    I had a preconceived idea that Mummy Groups were vicious cliques, and I hadn’t been in one at school – I didn’t plan to start now.

    I didn’t need them anyway, I had my soul mate – my baby daddy. The man I had chosen for this journey. He would be there for everything. I didn’t need anyone else.

    Then I had a baby, and I needed someone.

    The network I should have had, simply wasn’t there.

    My midwives were too busy, I hadn’t met any of them twice.
    My Health Visitor was a vanishing woman – still talking about phone numbers and triages and children’s centres id never heard of as she walked herself out. Never to be seen again.

    Then there was my partner. My chosen mate. The first love of my life. The man that knew what I needed before I did.

    Only he didn’t understand me anymore.
    He was trying to figure out his Dad Role.
    He didn’t understand why I was crying
    about putting the kettle in the fridge. 🙈
    He didn’t know why I’d forgotten to take the parcels to the post office.
    He didn’t know why I had no love left over for him.

    I didn’t want ‘ Mummy Friends’.
    Until I realised that no one else would understand me like they did.

    The ones that had been there, done that.
    The ones that were fumbling through for the first time – just like me.
    The ones who had had every argument you can imagine with their husband.
    The ones proving you didn’t need to lose yourself along the way. That you’ll find a new you as you go.

    The ones who needed me just as much as I needed them.

    I made them laugh, and they made me howl with our observations of this bizarrely fabulous and horrendous journey.

    There was no clique, just women loving women – despite what you might have heard.

    I had love left over for my partner again then. Because he might not get it – but there were scores of women that did.

    So I didn’t want ‘Mummy Friends’…

    I needed them.

  • Where Is Humanity?

    Photographer A.J. Laberinto took photos that will send shivers down your spine and make you be thankful for where you live.

    In May 2014, a photographer was strolling along the streets of Manila in the Philippines. Even though this moment was captured years ago — it’s still chilling to watch.


    The photos are difficult to look at, but they need to be seen and need to be shared; awareness of this cold and dark moment in humanity needs to be spread.


    A naked toddler was sleeping in the middle of a bustling public staircase not one person paying any attention, this child wasn’t anyone to them.



    Laberinto was completely stunned by the lack of humanity that he was witnessing. Not one single person walking by even gave the baby a second glance. They are so used to homeless and begging children, this was normal. It’s hard to think that this is happening during this day and age.

    The photographer said:

    “There I was, camera–celfone rather, in hand turning around the corner when I saw the child. You see, only recently I’ve been taking pictures of whatever sight was in front of me strolling around Manila though not that many. So there I was, and for several seconds the baby lay there on the floor not dying but rather sound asleep. The passers-by having seen too many too much of street children and beggars knew already how to react: they just walked away. After having finished taking the photos I then asked some familiar faces in the crowd, people who actually lived near those stairs, as to where the parent of that baby was. Lo and behold, a woman somewhat bedraggled with dirty clothes on showed up and immediately carried the baby away. All of this in a span of seconds. I bought the child food, by the way, four days ago and he’s still living in the streets the very bed to sleep in he ever knew.“

  • Grieving Mum Attacked By Trolls

    A mother who shared the sad pictures of her baby boy after his untimely death at ten weeks old has been attacked by internet trolls.

    The little boy passed away on January 16, 2016 – nine days after being discharged from a children’s hospital.


    Nicole Pike shared the photos of herself and Ralphie body after she discovered him dead inside his Moses basket last year.

    One last picture, one last memory

    Another photo shows Ralphie’s small brother Riley as he says goodbye to his infant brother.

    Since she shared the photo she has received abuse messages from trolls, telling her that she is “sick” and she should be “ashamed”.


    Some of the abuse directed at her was for allowing her two-year-old son to witness her brother’s body and making him take the photos.


    “I got messages like I should be ashamed of myself and, ‘Is there something wrong with you? You must be sick to take a two-year-old to see a dead baby’,” said the mum, from Leicestershire.


    “Most people didn’t like the fact that I let Riley Lee go, but who’s to judge me? I did what I thought was right and I wouldn’t change a thing I did.”


    “When Ralphie passed away, I spoke to a bereavement counsellor who advised that it is good for your children to have their final goodbyes.

    “Of course, at first I was a little worried, but I wouldn’t change a thing that I did. Riley Lee used to cry to come with me to see Ralphie.


    “He was so close to Ralphie, he never left his side.


    “If he cried, he would be right there with him.”


    “I’m not ashamed, I think they’re beautiful. Whether he’s breathing or not, he’s my son and Riley Lee’s brother.”


    “There were a few tears at the comment regarding Riley Lee seeing Ralphie. It hurts that people would be so judgemental when, who can say anything? They don’t know how they would react unless they’d been through it.

    “Everyone grieves differently.”

  • 1 in 20,000 Babies Born With This Condition

    My names jade im 25 and from Stockport and im hoping I can share my sons story in the hope I can spread awarness on congenital heart defects…Last year my world was turned completely upside down when I went for a 20week scan… I lay there on the bed as the sonographer scanned me and with previously having three children I knew it can sometimes take a while but the atmosphere changed in the room… Then I hear the words no mother would want to hear ‘Theres a problem with your baby’s heart, your going to need to see a specialist at a feotal medicine unit at saint Mary’s hospital in Manchester and after several scans my worst nightmare was confirmed… My son got a diagnosis of tetralogy of fallot which occurs in 1 in 20,000 babies born with a Congenital heart defect.


    My son was born by induction and he was bright pink and crying when he was born…

    He went straight down to Neo natal ICU then at four days he was transferred to a different hospital then he got rushed to Alder Hey in Liverpool were he under went emergency open heart surgery his heart then stopped after a cardiac arrest then they managed to save him and put him on life support which was the darkest time ever.. Then he started to go worse and his appendix burst and then he had pro longed bleeding… But from then he has come on strength By strength and surprised so many professionals and consultants… He is my hero.


  • Woman Shocked People By Breastfeeding 

    A woman was seen in broad daylight casually breastfeeding her infant son in public, which didn’t seem overly strange to passersbys until they got a closer look at what else was happening  at that moment. A group of people couldn’t believe their eyes as they watched from a distance and didn’t do a thing about it.

    While breastfeeding openly like this woman was doing has been a point of controversy for many opinionated people, that part wasn’t the shock in this circumstance. Witnesses were stunned that she not only had her baby son with her but decided to feed him in the middle of what else was going on.

    The unidentified mother in Brazil was involved in a motorcycle accident where the bike was crushed beneath a car. The woman was badly injured and her son seemed terrified, but he was in otherwise in good condition, unlike her. As she sat on the side of the road surrounded by her own blood and the wreckage, she put her child’s needs before her own. Her leg was mangled and her foot was broken and facing the wrong direction, all while she kept her son’s attention away from the horror and breastfed him.

  • Mum Used Her Last Breathe To Save Her Baby

    Wyoming, Illinois, is a small town with only about 1,400 residents.
     This small tight-knit community was where 21-year-old Shelby Ann Carter wanted to have a family.

    She and her fiancé lived with her mum. Shelby worked as a beautician and had started studying to become a pharmacy technician. Then, in January 2017, she gave birth to her daughter Keana Davis. Shelby was so happy to be a mum and was looking forward to watching her daughter grow.


    But unfortunately, her happiness was about to come to tragic end.

    “She was making her mark in town,” said the town’s mayor”

     But on January 30th  only one day after her 21st birthday — tragedy struck.

     Shelby was at home with her baby when a fire broke out. 

    She called the emergency services  for help and told them that she was having trouble breathing. She hadn’t said anything about her baby which led to some confusion when firefighters finally reached the scene.
    Emergency responders found Shelby on the 2nd floor of her house, but it was too late — she had died of carbon monoxide poisoning. But when they finally put out the flames and looked at the scene, they found something truly astonishing: Shelby’s 12-day-old daughter! What had happened?

    Although the house was engulfed in flames, Shelby didn’t let that stop her from doing all she could to save her baby. 
    Finding herself and her daughter trapped on the 2nd floor, she quickly came up with an ingenious idea and rescued Keana Davis by strapping her into a car seat and dropping her out of the window. Shelby had obviously used her last ounce of strength to make sure that her precious baby girl survived.

    “I guess it’s the motherly instinct to take care of their young. We’re all wondering why she didn’t go out after the baby,” explained the chief of the local volunteer fire department.

    Keana Davis was rushed to the hospital where it was determined that she was completely unharmed. She was released to the custody of her family. 

    Keana Davis will never have the chance to know her mum, but at least she can be proud of her. Shelby is a true hero and will be dearly missed by all who knew her, her local community banded together to raise funds to help Shelbys family.

  • Baby Born With White Hair

    Baby Boy Born with All White Hair.❤️

    A baby boy born in 2015 still has social media talking about his special features. 

    The little guy, who was born in Hungary, came into the world with a head full of beautiful curly white hair.

    Baby Bence was born on time and as expected weighing 11.9 pounds. 

    Nurses in the maternity ward nicknamed him “Prince Charming,” not only because of his adorable little face, but also because of his snow-white hair!


    He had everyone mesmerized the day he was born, and yet, Doctors  say he is not albino. 

    According to one doctor, the color of the infant’s hair was harmless and “not a sign of illness or prenatal stress.”

    We think it’s just adorable. ❤️😍

  • We Swore By These Nappies-Parents Warning

    This dad named Jordan Bartliff has taken to Facebook  to warn others.

    So Saturday yesterday morning has to be the worst day of our lives so far, we opened a fresh pack of newborn little angels to put on the baby, we go to change the nappy an hour later, and these pictures are the results. And NO he’s not allergic to them, that’s been ruled out.


    It looks like a chemical reaction As confirmed by the hospital, As he’s been wearing the same nappies for 3 weeks prior to this. With no problems whatsoever. I don’t normally put personal stuff on Facebook but as it’s happened to such an innocent little life at 3 weeks old the day it happened who bearing in mind is 5 weeks early, who is now needing oxygen through a machine because of this.


    I wouldn’t want it happening to any other little soul, so please be vigilant and careful with these nappies as it obviously is a bad batch.

    We swore by these nappies and use them with our first born before anyone starts saying their children wear these all the time so do mine. Were heartbroken words cannot explain how we feel right now Please share this to make other parents aware. Thankyou.
