  • Dear Asda, I Purchased Some Of Your Smart Price Toilet Paper

    Dear Asda,

Last week I purchased some of your “smart price” toilet tissue and I have some thoughts to share with you.

For my first use I folded it twice like I normally would, but it was so weak it broke, at which point I realised I had fingered myself. That’s right. No romance, no weekend in Venice, just one swift digit up the wrong ‘un in a cold bathroom in Wythenshaw.

So what exactly is “smart” about “smart price”? My eyes certainly smarted a bit as I jabbed at my rectum. I spent the next few minutes in the saddest bathroom scene since Oscar Pistorius, debating whether to sacrifice a bath towel, a sock or the fleece of the first staff member I find at my local store.

A few more minutes passed, the anger subsided and I made a second attempt. You see this stuff might be half the price of branded stuff, but I found I needed to bandage it tightly 7-8 times around my hand to prevent me from molesting myself a second time, leaving me looking like an Egyptian mummy that’s just performed a prostate exam.

The feeling of shame was soon replaced with regret, as I realised I had better things within arms reach to do the job. Even the pumice stone on the edge of my bath looked like it could do a better job than the stuff you supply.

I noticed in the news today your sales have dropped 7.5% in 3 months. Looks like it’s not just the competition you can’t wipe out!

    Yours truly,

    A very unhappy customer

  • Parents Are You Aware What Five Nights At Freddy’s Really Is?

Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) is a series of point-and-click horror games for PC and mobile made by independent game developer Scott Cawthon. The game’s settings and characters vary from game to game, but the premise between them remains the same: You, looking through the eyes of the games’ protagonists, must stay alive for five or six days against an onslaught of animatronics who want your blood.

It is a good game for teens. However, the background story isn’t. So one day a guy dresses up as a character from the restaurant and lures kids into the back to murder them. To hide their bodies he puts them in the robots. Over time people notice blood coming out of the robots mouth. If you look around on the later five nights at Freddy’s the poster of the 4 kids laughing turn into 4 kids crying. When you know the story the game is SO much scarier

Five nights at Freddy’s seasons 1-4 and Sister Location tells the story of five+ children getting murdered by a costumed, mentally insane entertainer. There are also Springlock failures, where a costume crushes an employee. The characters themselves are possessed by dead children, and kill any night guard they encounter. There are also heavy implications of the Springlock robots kidnapping children and crushing them within them, and the survivors being gassed and used for deranged experiments. The last thing I want to note is a character named Springtrap, who has exposed, crushed internal organs and a visible corpse skull when he lifts his mask.

So, yeah, not a thing for the kids to be playing.

Obviously it is entirely up to you if you allow your young children to watch the videos on YouTube or to play the game but I thought it best to let people know the back story, I didn’t think anything of it after all places like Smyths stock lots of FNAF toys and I believed it was aimed at children but even the creator has stated it is not for a young audience.

  • Parents Need To Be Aware Of This!

Sian Rachael Ball is desperate to make other parents aware and to be vigilant and know the signs of the thing that made her son ill.

Ball said “For all other mums, I’ve worked in a few nurseries and school and have never heard of this. My son got sick on Sunday (it’s now Wednesday) he was sick and had this rash on his legs. Took him to the doctors only to be told they didn’t know what it was, probably just a skin infection, They gave him antibiotics And was told he could go back to school. Next day at school he has come out crying and had to be carried all the way home because he couldn’t walk! School forced him to sit down even when he said he was in pain! (Will be speaking to them tomorrow) took straight to the hospital and been diagnosed with henoch scholein purpura (hps) he will now have to have his kidneys tested for the next 12 months as it’s in the same category as meningitis!

Apparently more common in boys and common in the ages of 2-10 years.im posting the information as this can just happen to any child! And feel like this should be known to parents just as much as meningitis! Now have a very poorly son that has many doctors appointments to attend and off school of up to 6 weeks. but luckily we got a second opinion!

  • Horse Racing Should Be Banned?

Andy McGeever has taken to Facebook to share his disgust and hatred for horse racing and the effects on the poor horses.

McGeevers said  This is the price they pay. This is Sandsend breaking his left foreleg on the flat in today’s race at Cheltenham. You can clearly see the shoe pointing skyward in this picture. This is the true horror of horse racing. #racedtodeath #youbettheydie

Six horses died at the Cheltenham festival this year, authority review is promised is this enough?

The BHA (British horseracing authority)will be reviewing the circumstances leading to the deaths of these innocent harmless creatures at the Cheltenham festival, the BHA says it works with the RSPCA and world horse welfare and is committed to reducing the risk in racing for both horse and jockey.

Horses are four times more likely to die at Cheltenham than at Hexham it has also been revealed that a staggering 1500 horses died on race courses in the last decade, the prize money at Cheltenham goes into the millions of pounds so jockeys, owners and trainers all want the prestige, which may mean they are pushing thehorses to the limit and unnecessary risks are being taken which result in injuries and in some cases the death of the horse.

Andy McGeever has created a group to try to ban horseracing.

  • Taking Folic Acid Could Save Your Babys Life

I would like to share my story with you all on a heartbreaking condition that changed mine and my partners lives forever.

28th December, I took a pregnancy test which confirmed I was pregnant with my second child and my partners first. We were over the moon and couldn’t wait to welcome our first child together! instantly I booked in with my midwife and got our 12 week scan booked! normal pregnancy symptoms, I felt like total crap and was chucking my guts up, I had mood swings and turning into the incredible hulk over the most stupid things. I had some spotting, I panicked due to a previous loss I thought “oh god no, it’s happening again” I went to my doctor and I was then told to go to pregnancy support to be scanned.

I was so relieved when I was told all was okay and we had a healthy heartbeat. I showed my partner our little jellybean on the scan picture I took home and we looked more forward to our 12 week scan.

At 10 weeks I had another bleed, this time it was more than before, so I rushed to pregnancy support without the doctor’s appointment and waited in the waiting room. somehow deep down I knew there was something wrong, I thought my baby was gone for sure this time.

I lay on the scanning bed and saw my baby on the screen, heartbeat was so strong and healthy… I just remember sitting grinning from ear to ear that my baby was still with us, only to turn and look at the sonographer who didn’t share the same smile, she looked concerned. she called for a second opinion when they dropped the bombshell that our babies skull looked as though it wasnt developing correctly.

I was sent home to wait for 2 weeks for my 12 weeks scan to be told what I already knew. our baby was diagnose with anencephaly, a fatal condition. a neural tube birth defect where babies skull and part of the brain doesn’t develop.

I had to make the most heartbreaking choice that no parents should ever have to make, I had to end our babies life. I was admitted into hospital to be induced, 10 hours later our baby had arrived. so small, but so peaceful. we spent time with the baby and cradled the tiny babe like they were truly here. we touched him/her spoke to them, wrapped them up in a blanket. no matter the circumstances our little baby was here and we loved them with all our hearts, the time we had with them was so short but so precious to us and we will never ever forget it. leaving the hospital was the hardest thing we have ever had to do as it was truly goodbye, we will never get to hold our beautiful baby again.

Anencephaly and Acrania are two conditions that doesn’t get spoken about enough, I didn’t even hear of them until it happened to me! woman who are trying to conceive need to know that neural tube defects happen within 23-26 days after conception and folic acid is the one thing that can prevent this from happening to your beautiful babies. take the right dosage for you, speak to your doctor and see if your taking the right amount. I was on 400 mcg and I was supposed to be on 5mg. if I had known my baby might still be here and be healthy and have that chance of life.

Woman need to know how important this is, I cant cope knowing there are woman out there that are going through what we have just been through. so I feel I need to share my story with everyone, so I know I have made a positive out of such a dark time.

Please share, the more people who see this the better. it might help someone 😊 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take your folic acid ladies xx

  • Stricter Laws Need To Be Made For School Parking

Stricter laws need to be made for school parking.

So you receive a ticket for parking in the wrong area of town or running late to get back to the car park or stopping on double yellow lines, fair enough perfectly reasonable to receive a parking ticket, you took the risk and now you have to pay the cash.

But I do feel there should be far stricter parking fines and punishments for poor parking around schools, after all children’s lives are put in grave danger.

At my children’s school, parents will park over drive ways, pull up on the yellow no stopping marks to drop off children, park on grass verges, corners you name it they park there.

Parking wardens visit occasionally but little is done, it would be great if the school caretaker or a designated person within the school could issue fines or take photographs and pass it onto someone who would punish these inconsiderate and dangerous people.

It would appear to be that many parents would rather park dangerous than be two minutes late to pick up or drop of their own children.

I often see children having no choice but to cross between two parked cars, or mother with buggys having to dodge round cars to get across roads, at my children’s school there is a young boy in a wheelchair whose mum lives opposite the school having to regularly walk 50 yards up the road just to find a free drop kerb to push the wheelchair across.

I don’t think parking in a loading bay or running 5 minutes late to get back to your car should receive the same fine or punishment as risking a child’s life!

  • Childminders Should Wear These By Law?

We all see lorries carrying our precious cargo with the sign “How’s my driving call 123 with any concerns etc”

Well that got me thinking why can’t it be used for other things like people who are  child minders or even carers in the community looking after vunerable adults or the elderly, or disabled or the mentslly ill.

Only the other day I saw a child minder with 3 small children, one child was in a buggy and can’t have been older than 6 months and was sobbing her heart out, the child minder ignored the child’s cries, the other two didn’t even have their hoods up in the rain, I couldn’t keep my anger in and spoke with the childminder and said I didn’t think she was doing a very good job, she listened for a minute or so and then made her excuses and hurried off, I have no idea where she lives or the parents of the children, it would be handy if there was a way to raise minor concerns.

Wouldn’t it be a wonderful if by law that child minders would have to wear high visibility jackets with a contact number or a name of Facebook page to add positive comments for wonderful caring and creative child minders or to raise concerns of the child care providers who ignore children, possibly abuse them or are purely only in it for the money.

Does anyone else think this would be a wonderful idea, we hand over our children to these people we trust but have no way of 100% knowing how they treat our children especially babies and small toddlers who are yet to be able to voice any concerns.

  • Mums You Are Doing Great

This stage of life, It’s hard, you guys.

I’m talking right now to you mums who are in your late 20’s to mid 30’s. You have kids. Likely two, three, maybe four of them. They probably range in age from newborns to 7 or 8 year-olds. (Give or take a few, on all of the above mentioned stats).

In this stage of life, you are dealing with exhaustion. Mental, physical, and emotional.

In this stage of life, you are dealing with teething. With ear infections. With stomach viruses. You are juggling nap schedules, and feeding schedules and football, dance, or karate schedules. A million balls you are juggling, and you probably feel like you are dropping most of them.

In this stage of life, you are dealing with guilt. Guilt over having a career, and not spending enough time with your kids, or guilt over staying home with your kids, and not doing enough to contribute financially. Guilt over being too harsh with your kids. Too lenient. Guilt that your house is clean, but your kids were ignored, or guilt that you enjoyed your children all day, and now your husband is coming home to filth. Guilt.

In this stage of life, you are bombarded daily with a whole host of decisions. Some of them life-changing, some of them not. None of them with clear-cut answers. Do I vaccinate my kids? Do I not? Do I send them to the local school? school miles away? homeschooled? boarding school? Do I continue to breastfeed? Do I blow the budget so that I can buy all organic? Do I force my child to apologize, even though the apology will be insincere? You don’t know the answers to ANYTHING, but you feel constant pressure to figure out EVERYTHING.

This stage of life is less and less about watching your friends get married and have babies, and more and more about standing by and witnessing your friends struggle in their marriage, and even get divorced. It’s a stage where you’ve got to put in the time and the effort and the work and the energy to make sure your OWN marriage stays healthy. And that’s good, but it’s hard, too. At this point, you or someone you know has experienced infertility. Miscarriages. Loss of a child.

It’s a stage where you are buying houses, selling houses, remodeling houses, packing up houses. And then you do it all again a few years later.

It’s a stage where your hormones are all out of whack. I mean, you’ve basically been pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding for the last ten years, right?

It’s a stage where you are struggling with identity. Is my entire identity “mummy”? Is there anything even left of me that isn’t about mothering? Is there something more glamorous I could have/should have done with my life? I LOOK like a mum now, don’t I? I totally do.

It’s a stage where you are on a constant quest for balance, and can never find it.

It’s a stage of life where you are overloaded. Constantly. You are overloaded with questions. Your children never stop asking them. You are overloaded with touch. Someone is constantly wanting to be held, holding on to you, hanging on to you, touching you. You are overloaded with to-do’s. There is so much to do. It never ends. You are overloaded with worry. You are overloaded with THINGS. Your kids have way too many toys. You are overloaded with activities. You are overloaded with THOUGHTS (thoughts about how to not be so overloaded, perhaps?).

    It’s hard.

So….what do you need to do to survive it all?

You need to ask for help.

You need to accept help when it’s given.

You need to not neglect your marriage. You need to put your kids down for bed early. Sit outside on the patio with your husband, drink a glass of wine, and have a conversation.

    You need girlfriends.

    You need your mum.

You need older friends, who have been there and done that. Who can reassure you that you AREN’T screwing it all up as badly as you think you are.

You need to not feel bad about using your kids nap time every now and again to just do whatever the heck you want.

You need to lower your expectations….then probably lower them again.

You need to simplify. Simplify every single part of your life, as much as it can be simplified.

You need to learn how to say “no”.

    You need to practice contentment

You need to be ok leaving your kids overnight, and going away somewhere. Anywhere.

You need to do something you enjoy, every day, even if it’s for no more than 15 minutes.

You need to pray. Girl, you need to pray.

You need a coffee you love, a wine you love, and a bubble bath that you love.

Finally, and maybe most importantly, you need to remember that…..

….this stage of life is beautiful, too. Like, really really beautiful. This is the stage of life where every single older person you ever meet tells you, “you’re going to miss this”. And you already know it’s true. It’s the stage where your kids love you more than they are EVER going to love you again, for the whole rest of your life. It’s the stage where they can fit their entire selves into your lap to snuggle…and they want to.

It’s the stage where their biggest problems ARE ear infections and teething and stomach viruses, and you’re not having to deal yet with things like broken hearts or addiction or bullying. It’s the stage where you are learning to love your spouse in an entirely different….harder…..better…. way. The stage where you are learning together, being stretched together, shedding your selfishness together, and TRULY being made into “one”.

It’s the stage where you get to see Christmas, Halloween through your kids eyes, and it’s so much more fun and magical than it would be just through your own eyes. It’s the stage of life filled with school trips, class parties, costumes, swim lessons, bubble baths, puddle jumping , loose teeth, and first steps. And those things are so fun. It’s the stage where you are young enough to have fun, and old enough to have obtained at least SOME wisdom. It’s SUCH a great stage.

    But, man it’s hard.”

  • How My Husband And I Terrified A Taxi Driver

How my Husband and I Terrified a Taxi Driver

My husband and I were dressed and ready to go out for a lovely evening of dinner and theatre.

Having been burgled in the past, we turned on a ‘night light’ and the answering machine, then put the cat in the backyard. When our cab arrived, we walked out our front door and our rather tubby cat scooted between our legs inside, then ran up the stairs. Because our cat likes to chase our budgie we really didn’t want to leave them un-chaperoned so my husband ran inside to retrieve her and put her in the back yard again.

Because I didn’t want the taxi driver to know our house was going to be empty all evening, I explained to him that my husband would be out momentarily as he was just bidding goodnight to my mother. A few minutes later he got into the cab all hot and bothered, and said (to my growing horror and amusement) as the cab pulled away.

“Sorry it took so long but the stupid b*tch was hiding under the bed and I had to poke her butt with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off so I grabbed her and wrapped her in a blanket so she wouldn’t scratch me like she did last time. But it worked! I hauled her fat butt down the stairs and threw her into the backyard….she had better not sh*t in the vegetable garden again.”

The silence in the taxi was deafening…..

  • No Excuses! Have Your Smear Test!

This week I had my smear test.

Not a big issue really, women have them everyday.

The only difference this time was that I had to be a mother at the same time!

My husband was at work so I had both my adorable little monsters, Poppy aged 9 and Dexter aged 5, with me for the smear test.

This turned out to be less of an issue than I’d ever expected!

The nurse was so nice to the kids, complimenting them on how well-behaved they were being whilst Mummy had her ‘M.O.T’.

It was over in minutes and I honestly don’t know why I worried at all.  It was very slightly uncomfortable but not at all undignified, the kids sat on chairs the other side of me, Poppy playing on my phone and Dexter looking at a leaflet he picked up from the waiting room.

I can’t stress enough how important it is for all women to attend their smear test appointments.

Don’t let having no babysitters be an excuse.

I read that over 1 million women failed to attend their smear test appointment last year making it the lowest turnout in nearly 20 years!

Make that appointment and keep it, it might just save your life.
