When Salman Khan proposed marriage to Juhi Chawla but was REJECTED by her father: ‘Pata nahi kya chaiye tha unko’ |

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan may embrace his ‘most eligible bachelor’ tag today, but there was a time when he was eager to settle down. Known for his boyish charm and youthful looks in the early days of his career, the actor wasn’t shy about wearing his heart on his sleeve—even when it came to proposing marriage.
In a candid revelation from an old interview, Salman shared that he once proposed to actress Juhi Chawla. However, his hopes were dashed when her father rejected the proposal, leaving the actor disappointed.
Describing Juhi as a “very sweet, adorable girl,” he expressed his admiration for her, which lead him to act on his feelings and approach her father with a marriage proposal. However, his hopes to marry the actress were quickly dashed when Juhi’s father rejected the proposal.
Reflecting on the incident, Salman humorously remarked, “Maybe I don’t fit the bill, I guess… pata nahi kya chaiye tha unko.”
Years later, Juhi also admitted that a proposal from Salman had come her way. Explaining that at the time, she was unfamiliar with many of her contemporaries, including Salman and Aamir Khan, she said, “Back in the day, when I had just started out in my career, and when Salman was not THE Salman Khan, a film had come my way that had him in the lead. I didn’t know anyone properly back then—not him, not Aamir Khan, or anyone else in the industry.”
She went on to reveal that she also had to decline the film with Salman, due to “some issue.”
Although Salman and Juhi never became a couple, they went on to have successful careers in Bollywood. Juhi went on to settle down with Jay Mehta in 1995, and the couple share two children. Salman, on the other hand, has been linked to several actresses over the years. He is currently rumoured to be in a relationship with Iulia Vantur.

The custody case between actress Jaime King – a longtime friend of Taylor Swift’s – and estranged husband Kyle Newman took another turn Monday, as a judge made a bold order in the long-running legal affair.

The judge awarded Newman, a 49-year-old director, sole physical custody of their two young sons James Knight, 11, and Leo Thames, nine, People reported after reviewing court docs on Monday.

The situation peripherally involves superstar singer Taylor Swift, 35, a stalwart confidante of King’s who was named godmother to Leo in March of 2015.

The two boys with live with Newman, who will have final say on legal custody while the pair will share custody on paper amid the contentious case.

The judge said King, 45, must have her visits with her sons supervised until she finishes a mandated drug/alcohol program that lasts around six months.

Dailymail.com has reached out to Newman for comment on the latest developments.

Newman, a 49-year-old director, was awarded sole physical custody of their kids James Knight, 11, and Leo Thames, nine, People reported after reviewing court docs on Monday

The people approved in the supervisory role included her mother, sister, brother-in-law, and Newman’s brother Kevin, the outlet reported.

King, who played the role of Heather Vandergeld in the 2004 comedy White Chicks, has made repeated visits to court over the past five years with her ex-husband to litigate custody concerns.

Most recently, King – who has also been seen in movies such as 2009’s My Bloody Valentine and 2005’s Sin City – filed with the court for an emergency request.

King filed the request to alter the agreement they made in terms of child and spousal support two years prior, People reported.

King ‘lacks the ability to pay the support,’ her attorneys said in legal docs, while Newman said King had ‘been out of compliance with the court’s child and spousal support orders for well over a year.’

Newman told the court that King would not ‘sign a judgment’ in their divorce agreement; and that she did not have the legal right to ‘rescind’ any of the court’s orders, the outlet reported.

The former couple initially wed in 2007 at the Los Angeles-based mansion Greystone Park and Manor.

King in May of 2020 entered a court filing requesting a divorce to end the 13-year marital union.

King concurrently filed paperwork with the court requesting a emergency motion toward custody and visitation-related issues, the outlet reported, as well as a petition to prevent domestic violence.

Amid the custody row, King said in May of 2020 that Newman had put together an ‘intervention’ for her four months earlier after informing family and friends she was having substance abuse issues.

King in legal docs said she went a facility so she could be tested and cleared as drug-and-alcohol free. She said that days in, she had been sent home after passing a substance abuse test.

King is ‘a chronic drug addict and alcoholic who refuses to acknowledge that she has a problem, let alone seek meaningful treatment for such problem,’ Newman said in his legal filing at the time.

Newman told the court in a filing that ‘several friends’ informed him that she had used narcotics during both of her pregnancies. He added that doctors told him that their son Leo ‘was also addicted due to her continued drug use.’

He said he ‘was devastated’ to learn at the same medical appointment ‘that Leo Thames had a congenital heart defect and would need surgery to survive as soon as he was born.’

Newman said in his court filing that on occasion, King had driven ‘under the influence’ with their children in the vehicle, People reported.

King is ‘a chronic drug addict and alcoholic who refuses to acknowledge that she has a problem, let alone seek meaningful treatment for such problem,’ Newman said in 2020

King became ‘so intoxicated in front of them that they thought their mother was dying, and abandoning them for days at a time to get drunk and high instead of care for them.’

He added that ‘at one point, Jaime left Leo Thames at his doctor’s appointment with the nanny, only to be found over a half hour later at the liquor store across the street buying a bottle of alcohol.’

Swift was involved when Thames had to undergo the surgery, as the Grammy-winner donated a generous sum of money to the Los Angeles-based hospital Cedars-Sinai, King revealed in an August 2016 Instagram post.

King said that Swift ‘does so many selfless acts that go unnoticed because she does them silently, from such a great place of unconditional giving.’

King went into detail on her younger child’s health woes, writing, ‘Dear all- at 20 weeks our son was diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries AKA TGA.’

King said that watching her youngest child undergo ‘a major heart surgery … was terrifying, and traumatic for us as parents, for our family.’

King, who did not allude to any of the accusations Newman has made in the social media post, said that she and her then-spouse had kept the details close to their vest amid the difficult timeframe.

‘Only a few of our best friends knew. I felt that I had to protect him in fear of the unknown, fear he would not make it. We felt isolated & confused.’

King said that Swift – as ‘the Godmother of Leo Thames – made an ‘incredible donation to the people that saved his life’ at Cedar-Sinai, specifically the Congenital Heart Surgery unit led by Dr. Alistair Phillips.

King said that the lesson she learned was her famed friend was that it was important to provide support and spread awareness toward people in similar circumstances.

‘It made us realize that silence cannot connect other parents & people going through these issues,’ said King. ‘TS knew that by giving back in this way would be the greatest gift one could give to us, to Leo Thames and to all of those with congenital heart issues.

‘She came to the ICU to comfort us, to hold and bond with him with such grace & strength.’

  • Sudiksha Konanki’s Parents ‘Accept She Won’t Be Found’, Want Her Declared Dead To Honour Her Memory

Sudiksha Konanki’s Parents ‘Accept She Won’t Be Found’, Want Her Declared Dead To Honour Her Memory

    [ad_1]

The parents of missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki have formally requested that authorities in the Dominican Republic declare their daughter legally dead, 11 days after she vanished during a spring break trip. According to Dominican Republic National Police spokesperson Diego Pesqueira, the family has submitted a written request to initiate the legal declaration of death, having accepted that their daughter will not be found.

Konanki, 20, disappeared in the early hours of 6 March after visiting the beach in Punta Cana with friends. Despite an intensive multi-agency search, no trace of her has been found, with authorities concluding that she likely drowned in the rough seas.

    Disappearance in Punta Cana

Konanki had been on holiday with five friends at the Riu República Resort, a five-star all-inclusive hotel, when she went missing. Surveillance footage from the resort shows Konanki and her companion, Joshua Riibe, walking to the beach at around 4:15 am after a night of drinking.

According to authorities, red flags had been raised on the beach at the time, indicating strong currents and dangerous conditions. Riibe, a 22-year-old student at St. Cloud State University, was reportedly the last person to see Konanki.

He told investigators that the pair had gone into the water, where they were hit by a large wave. He claimed he tried to help Konanki stay afloat but was unable to continue assisting her while struggling to breathe himself. Riibe said he managed to reach the shore but, after losing sight of Konanki, assumed she had left the beach.

    Search Efforts Yield No Results

Authorities have carried out one of the largest search operations in the country’s history, deploying drones, divers, and multiple branches of the Dominican Armed Forces. Despite these efforts, no remains have been recovered.

Investigators later found a white sarong and a pair of flip-flops, believed to belong to Konanki, left on a sun lounger near the shoreline. Officials confirmed that no signs of tampering were found with her belongings.

Family’s Decision to Seek Legal Death Declaration

After days of agonising uncertainty, Sudiksha’s parents, Subbarayudu and SreeDevi Konanki, have conceded that their daughter is no longer alive. In their formal request to the Dominican Republic National Police, they stated that, while no declaration could ease their grief, they hoped it would bring some closure and allow them to honour her memory.

‘Following an extensive search, Dominican authorities have concluded that Sudiksha is believed to have drowned. Her clothes were discovered on a beach near where she was last seen,’ the letter states. The family also confirmed that Riibe had fully cooperated with authorities and that they believe there is no evidence of foul play in their daughter’s disappearance.

    What Happens Next?

According to legal experts, the process of declaring a missing person dead varies by jurisdiction. In most cases, a person must be missing for several years before being declared legally deceased. However, exceptions can be made when strong evidence suggests that the missing individual did not survive.

If granted, the legal declaration of death will allow Konanki’s family to begin the grieving process and address legal matters related to her absence, such as estate management and life insurance claims.

Questions Linger Over Search and Initial Investigation

Despite authorities’ conclusion that Konanki likely drowned, her parents initially pleaded for a wider investigation, fearing she may have been kidnapped. Four days after her disappearance, her father, Subbarayudu Konanki, urged authorities to explore all possibilities, noting that if she had drowned, her body should have washed ashore by now.

‘It’s been four days, and if she was in the water, she would likely have been found,’ he told investigators. However, officials have maintained that no evidence points to abduction or foul play. The US State Department has also classified the case as a missing persons incident rather than a criminal matter.

Riibe’s Confiscated Passport and Ongoing Inquiry

Dominican authorities have confiscated Riibe’s passport as part of the ongoing investigation. His legal team confirmed that he has been restricted to the resort and is under constant police supervision.

Riibe has continued to assert his innocence, telling investigators he was only trying to help Konanki in the water. ‘The ocean is a dangerous place,’ he said in an interview with NBC News. While authorities have not named any suspects, questions remain about the circumstances of Konanki’s disappearance.

Tragic End to a Promising Life

Originally from Loudoun County, Virginia, Konanki was a junior biology student at the University of Pittsburgh. Friends and family describe her as ambitious, kind, and full of life. A promising pre-med student, she had dreams of working in healthcare.

Her tragic disappearance has devastated her loved ones, many of whom had clung to hope that she would be found alive. Her parents have now accepted that their daughter will never return home, marking a heartbreaking end to a young life full of potential.

A terminally ill baby who was refused help by a luxury hotel that has since been hit by a wave of criticism has been pictured for the first time.

Baby Charlie and his family, who gave permission for the tot to be pictured, were visiting Duck Bay Hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond when they were denied plugging in a life saving nebuliser – a device that turns a liquid containing medication into a fine mist to breathe in.

Bosses from Duck Bay have since said they are “truly sorry” in a public apology following the incident over the weekend.

Charlie, who lives with a tracheostomy, is currently staying with his parents at Robin House Children’s Hospice just a few miles down the road in Balloch.

His parents, from Edinburgh, had decided to take the tot to the popular loch side venue for family time and spent £40 on coffee and cakes.

They were left horrified after they were denied use of a plug socket to switch on Charlie’s life saving machine. They have since shared pictured of their son with Edinburgh Live.

Charlie’s uncle, Bradley Raynham, took to social media blasting the hotel, calling it an “embarrassment of a place” and the post went viral.

Bradley said: “My sister and fiancé are currently residing at Robin House Children’s Hospice as my nephew is receiving end of life care there. He is a little over 3 months old and every minute of every day is a blessing with him just now.

“He has a tracheostomy which he breathes through and every so often he needs a nebuliser which is essentially vaporised water that’s like steam that helps clear his airways to help him breathe.

“They went to this absolute embarrassment of a place, as they’re trying to do nice things and make every day Charlie has left special.

“It got to the time Charlie needed his nebuliser so as the restaurant was so busy, they asked at the reception of the hotel if they could use one of the plug sockets so he could get this.

“While they’re holding him in their arms they were told “no we don’t do this here”. Even after explaining the situation they weren’t interested one bit.

“They had to leave and get back to the hospice immediately so they could give him the nebuliser.”

Bradley added: “How in this day and age can ANY place turn someone away for something like this. Especially after being there and spending money. Literally holding a baby in their arms who needs this.

“Not really going to make a massive difference but hopefully this gets shared far and wide and nobody bothers to go and spend their money there. In the nicest way possible I hope the place rots and none of the staff are ever in a situation like this with their extremely ill child.”

Hotel bosses issued an apology in response to Bradley’s post, saying many members of staff were “devastated” to hear how the family was treated.

A spokesperson said: “Duck Bay Marina have recently been made aware of an incident which occurred earlier today and would like to profusely apologise for what happened.

Baby Charlie's parents were denied access to a plug socket for his device.

“The incident involved a junior member of staff who has recently joined the company, acting without guidance, who entirely misunderstood and misjudged a situation.

“We are deeply upset at how this incident was handled and we are truly sorry for the upset it has caused.

“It is in absolutely no way a reflection of the values of Duck Bay Marina or our hard working staff, many of whom are devastated by the incident. A full investigation will follow and the necessary remedial action will be taken.

“We have made contact with both Robin House and Charlie’s parents to offer a personal apology and to reassure them that the incident is completely unacceptable and will be dealt with as a matter of urgency.

“As long time supporters of local charities we will certainly make amends for the incident and will take the opportunity to review our training and procedures to ensure such an incident is never repeated.

“We are also aware of social media posts and comments regarding the incident.

“Whilst we completely understand people’s reaction to what happened, we would like to remind you that this is an incident involving a very inexperienced young person who has made a mistake, they are absolutely devastated by what has happened and how they have handled things.”

  • Saint Joseph, man of listening in Mother Rosetta Marchese • Istituto Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice

Saint Joseph, man of listening in Mother Rosetta Marchese • Istituto Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice

    [ad_1]

Rome (Italy). On March 19, 2025 we celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, whom Don Bosco wanted as patron of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians to teach us to be available to God’s plans and to put ourselves confidently in the hands of Providence.

His presence in the life of the Institute was constantly felt. At Mornese he was considered the protector. Just as he had guarded Mary and Jesus in life, he continued to guard the Church, the Institute, and every single person within the communities.

In this wake, the Servant of God Mother Rosetta Marchese (1922 – 1984), seventh Superior General of the FMA Institute, perceives the figure of Joseph as an example of silence, humility, and union with Jesus who, as Son, lives in perpetual adoration of the Father (Cf. Jn 1:18).

She writes in a letter dated 6 March 1981, to Sister Maria Rina Ronzani:

“I return above all the wishes for the St. Joseph; the dear Saint of silence, humility, deep union with Jesus and Mary. May he help us to understand his silent work, humble and hidden, but lived in intimate union with Jesus and Our Lady. It is certain that the mystery of the house of Nazareth and the thirty years lived there in hiddenness, must speak deeply to our heart and really help us to understand the value of life that lies in the duty performed for love in order to give glory to God, without seeking any human glory and no earthly recognition.”

As a Visiting Councilor, in a good night to the community of Palermo, near the Solemnity, on 17 March 1977, she presented to the Sisters the figure of Saint Joseph as “a man of measured words, capable of listening”, an example to live community dialogue that requires the exercise of humility, charity, detachment from oneself, the willingness to give enough time to allow everyone to speak:

“The practice for tomorrow is to ask St. Joseph to give us a measured word and brings us back the phrase taken from the letter of St. James: “Everyone must be ready to listen, but slow to speak.” “This ‘being ready to listen’, refers to the ability to listen, which is a virtue that is acquired with the grace of God, asking for it insistently, and by the exercise of attention over ourselves; virtue so necessary in our relationships, for the sanctity of common life, so that community dialogue may become a reality.

It is not very easy to have community dialogue, and the ability of listening that favors it, requires the exercise of humility in order to be able to give our cordial, patient, serene, respectful listening. It is the humility that is aware of its own poverty and therefore aware of always having something to receive from others; humility that knows how to grasp from what the other says, the element that enriches us, even if sometimes it can be heavy. It is boring to listen to what perhaps does not correspond completely to our thinking or to what we would like to hear said at that given moment.

It is a fundamental attitude of humility that puts us a little below others in the serene expectation to always receive something. Undoubtedly, in this interior disposition of humility, of poverty, we are more open to listening.”

In the Good Night, Mother Rosetta emphasizes detachment from oneself as an indispensable prerequisite of true listening to the other and as a path of asceticism that forms to true charity:

“The ability to listen requires a great detachment from ourselves, a virginal welcoming capacity, and by virginal, I mean such a total detachment from ourselves, that the others can enter completely into us without already having preconceptions regarding them.”

Saint Joseph was able to hold in his heart even what he humanly did not understand; he remained in attentive listening and believed the word of the Angel who opened God’s plan to him. In the life of Mother Rosetta Marchese, he was a model for welcoming the mystery of God in herself and in the people entrusted to her.

Pope Francis, in the recent Apostolic Letter “Patris Corde” written in 2020, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church, also notes:

“In every circumstance of his life, Joseph knew how to pronounce his ‘fiat’, like Mary in the Annunciation and Jesus in Gethsemane. Joseph, in his role as head of the family, taught Jesus to be submissive to His parents (cf. Lk 2:51), according to the commandment of God (cf. Ex 20:12). In hiddenness in Nazareth, at the school of Joseph, Jesus learned to do the Father’s will” (no. 3).

Sudiksha Konanki’s parents ask cops to declare Pitt student dead after she disappeared on spring break

    [ad_1]

Sudiksha Konanki‘s grieving parents have asked Dominican authorities to formally declare that she is dead, a source has told DailyMail.com.

The source with direct knowledge of the investigation says her family has accepted she won’t be found alive, 11 days after she vanished in the early hours of March 6 while on spring break in Punta Cana.

Her disappearance sparked an intense multi-agency search, despite authorities warning early on that she’d likely tragically drowned in the rough search.

Now, a local source alleges her grieving parents Subbarayudu and SreeDevi submitted a formal written request to the National Police for a ‘legal declaration of death.’

Sudiksha’s parents noted in the letter that they trust the authorities’ investigation, the source claimed.

They also allegedly wrote that the young person last seen with their daughter, publicly identified as 22-year-old Joshua Riibe, has fully cooperated with police.

There is no evidence of foul play, the insider added.

Certain legal procedures must reportedly be followed in order to process the family’s request.

They have expressed they are willing to comply with necessary formalities.

It is a tragic end to the search, 11 days after the pre-med student first vanished.

Initially, her parents begged authorities to widen the search zone and to take seriously the possibility that Sudiksha didn’t drown but was instead kidnapped.

‘It’s four days, and if she was in water, she would likely have been strewn to shore,’ Subbarayudu wrote in a statement to police.

‘She’s not found, so we’re asking them to investigate multiple options, like kidnapping or abduction.’

They last heard from her during an 8pm phone call on the evening of March 5.

Riibe was the last person to be seen with Sudiksha shortly before 5am on March 6th. They had gone to the beach after a night of drinking with friends.

He told police that the pair went for a swim and were knocked out by a large wave. He claimed he used his lifeguard training to drag her back towards the shore, but that the last time he saw her she was waist deep in water.

Surveillance camera footage from the all-inclusive five-star hotel showed both Riibe and Konanki vomiting at a bar at 4:05 am on March 6 before they walked to the beach.

A second camera spotted Riibe holding a cup and placing his arm around Konanki back as they trailed the group at 4:15 am. At about 4:55 am, the hotel security camera system showed two of her friends returning to the hotel.

Sudiksha, an Indian national who emigrated to the US as a young child, was enjoying a Caribbean getaway with five female college friends when she was reported missing on Thursday.

Her husband also opened up about the “liberal values” that have “guided his life” in an interview with Forbes.

“I have supported political leaders that share similar values,” he said at the time

“But neither political party has a monopoly on the truth or on constructive ideas for our country. It’s important to be open-minded and learn from differing opinions.”

The Kushner brothers hail from a real estate empire, and have both gone on to become successful businessmen in their own right. However, a clear divide formed between the pair after Jared joined his father-in-law’s presidential campaign as an advisor.

Most recently, the foursome attended the same wedding in March yet were not pictured together, further fuelling speculation about their relationship.

When Karlie married into the Kushner family in 2018, Ivanka sent out a message of congratulations to her new sister-in-law via Instagram despite not attending her reception.

“So, so happy for you and Josh! I feel blessed to have you as a sister (!!!) Karlie and look forward to the decades of happy memories we will create together as a family!” she wrote.

The mother of three stepped away from politics for her father’s second term, announcing her decision in a November 2022 statement.

“I love my father very much,” she said. “This time around, I’m choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena.”

Adrien Rabiot Hits Back After Explicit Banner Aimed At Mother During PSG vs Marseille

    [ad_1]

Adrien Rabiot endured the wrath of PSG fans during the Le Classique against Olympique de Marseille on March 16. The Frenchman previously played for the Parisians from 2012 to 2019.

Following a spell with Juventus, Rabiot is back in Ligue 1 with Marseille. His return has not sat well with PSG’s fans.

    The banner in question read:

Loyalty for men, betrayal for ****** – like mother, like son.

Rabiot’s mother has since released a statement, telling France Info:

I don’t understand why the match wasn’t stopped. I don’t understand why no one is outraged. I’m really outraged, outraged, really outraged by what can be said and written, without anyone reacting.

Rabiot has now released an Instagram statement. writing:

Insulting a mother, and a deceased father… Everything has to be paid for one day. You won’t take it to heaven. Believe me. Nasser, you can have all the money in the world and even more, class can’t be bought.
