Rant Club sessions aim to help members share what life is like as a young parent in Cornwall
A charity in Cornwall that supported the mental health of young parents during and after the Covid-19 pandemic has launched a music video challenging the “untrue narratives” around being a younger mum or dad.
Members of Wild Young Parents created Rant Club as part of the Rant Club programme, which offers information on mental wellbeing and suicide prevention.
The sessions were delivered in collaboration with theatre company Trifle Gathering Productions, and created a space for members to share what life is like as a young parent in Cornwall.
The experiences that were captured were then transformed into lyrics, which were co-written by young parents, before it was turned into a music video.
‘Untrue narratives’
Research by Wild Young Parents found that 71% of new mum and dads in Cornwall under the age of 23 felt they needed support with their mental health and that many struggled with loneliness and isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jo David, chief executive of Wild Young Parents, said: “Parenting is universally recognised as being one of the toughest jobs in the world, yet young parents are often judged more harshly than others.

“We hope the music video goes some way to changing some of the untrue narratives that exist about young parents.
“We hope that people will begin to see young parents as we do – as heroes who are trying their very best and who are living with hope and ambition for their babies.”
Kyla Goodey, from Trifle Gathering Productions, said: “Rant Club project was born out of a time of fear, bewilderment and vulnerability.
“Their ravings became the lyrics to a song and the song has become a very special message to the world.”

Kelsey Parker has proudly flaunted her baby bump after announcing her pregnancy in January. The podcaster went on an evening out to support an important cause, accompanied by her new partner Will Lindsay.
On Instagram on Monday evening, Kelsey, 34, revealed that she’d been to an event for Brain Tumour Research in honour of her former husband Tom Parker.
The Wanted star Tom died on March 30, 2022 after being diagnosed with a grade IV glioblastoma – a form of inoperable brain tumour. Following Tom’s death three years ago, Kelsey met tree surgeon Will during a night out and is now expecting a child with him, joining daughter Aurelia and son Bodhi, whom she shares with Tom.

Kelsey shared a video vintage from the night, showing Will in black tie while she sported a black off-the-shoulder jumpsuit, paired with heels, a fluffy white faux fur jacket, and glam makeup.
She, will and their friends were shown travelling on the tube to The Dorchester hotel in London where they had a champagne reception and a sit-down dinner, with clips also showing Kelsey smiling as she cradled her baby bump in her tight outfit.
“15th anniversary of Brain Tumour Research… an incredible evening surrounded by inspiring people, all coming together for such an important cause,” she wrote alongside the video.
“It was a night of raising awareness, sharing stories, and reminding ourselves why this fight matters so much!! Truly eye opening and emotional. but also a reminder of the progress being made! I’m so proud to continue this journey in Tom’s legacy and I promise to keep pushing for more research, more funding, and more hope.”
The charity commented on Kelsey’s post, gushing: “Thank you for everything you do for us and the brain tumour community. It was a real honour to have you join us for our 15th Anniversary. Brain Tumour Awareness Month is so incredibly tough for all of us affected by this devastating disease. Especially yourself. Remembering Tom and thinking about you at this time. You are inspirational,” along with a string of yellow hearts.

“It’s crazy. I knew I would be judged. But people who haven’t lost their partner, I don’t know how you can pass comment on me? I have been in such a dark place from losing Tom,” she told The Sun. “I was so lonely and so unhappy. I feel like there are people who want me to always feel like that. I feel like I do deserve to try and find a bit of happiness.”
She and Will also addressed the criticism on Lorraine on Monday, during their first TV appearance together. “It’s been three years, this is Tom’s three year anniversary of his death and it’s almost like people want me to feel guilty for moving on,” Kelsey said as they spoke of the late musician.
She then asked her new man: “Does it stress you out that I get upset about trolls and people commenting on our relationship?”
Will simply responded: “Not really, I just tell you not to look at them don’t I. There’s bound to be some people sending nice messages but block out the haters.”

It’s important to be healthy, and that’s the reason why we are celebrating KOCA,” Yuvraj explained.
He emphasized that KOCA offers a wide variety of cuisines, catering to diverse tastes.”It’s a place where people can come, taste our food, and celebrate. Bareilly: The fast-track court of additional district judge, Ravi Kumar Diwakar, has sentenced a 27-year-old man from Bareilly and his parents to life imprisonment for strangling his 25-year-old pregnant wife to death over dowry demands. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on each convict. The incident occurred on Feb 12, 2024, in Hajipur village under the jurisdiction of Aonla police station. Based on a complaint filed by Sumita Yadav’s father, Omprakash, an FIR was registered against Pushpendra Kumar, a seed trader, and his parents, Guddi Devi and Ved Pal, under IPC sections 498A (cruelty towards a married woman), 304B (dowry death) and sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. A chargesheet was filed in court in June 2024, suggesting the accused used to torture Sumita for dowry and eventually killed her when she was two months pregnant. Additional district govt counsel (ADGC) Santosh Srivastava said, “Omprakash told the court that his daughter married Pushpendra in 2021. He gave gifts worth Rs 5 lakh, but Pushpendra grew greedy and demanded a 200 sq ft residential plot. When Omprakash failed to meet the demand, Pushpendra and his parents killed Sumita.” He added, “Doctors confirmed that she died of strangulation. Dr Rajesh Kumar informed the court that multiple injuries were found on Sumita’s body, and she was pregnant at the time of her death.” While delivering the verdict, the judge remarked that an innocent unborn child was also a victim of the crime. “Soft justice in such cases would send the wrong message to society,” the court said and sentenced all three accused to life term on Monday.

How it started Around 1977, Amanda Scarpinati was only 3 months old, when she was admitted to the hospital when she fell from her couch, straight into a boiling steam vaporizer. Scalded with many third degree burns, she required many reconstructive surgeries as she grew older. Eventually, she went on to have a full life, though riddled with difficulties. What kept her going all these years was a picture of her’s with an unnamed nurse, that was published in a 1977 annual report of the Albany Medical Center. According to a report, Amanda said, “Growing up as a child, disfigured by the burns, I was bullied and picked on, tormented.” She further said, “I’d look at those pictures and talk to her, even though I didn’t know who she was. I took comfort looking at this woman who seemed so sincere, caring for me.”
The search After years of searching for that woman, Amanda put out the picture on facebook, asking for help! And help came in the form of Angela Leary, a school nurse in Delmar, New York, who recognized Sue Berger, the nurse in the picture, from working with her nearly 40 years ago.
A happy reunion Eventually, the women were reunited at the Albany Medical Center on Tuesday, where they last saw each other. According to Scarpinati, “The emotion I felt I wasn’t prepared for when I saw her. It was almost like hugging a mom.” On the other hand, Sue Berger was overwhelmed with the impact she has had on the (then) little girl. Amanda later wrote on Facebook, “Its to give inspiration, hope, appreciation to all those who touch people’s lives. Most of all, it’s for me to feel liberated, unchained, and no longer ashamed.”
Amanda and Sue’s story is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes, even a stranger, even though duty bound, can in fact, impact your life in so many positive ways. Hence, kindness as a virtue should never be underestimated, and one should always lend a helping hand to those in need – you never know how you will make a difference to them, and even change their life for the better!
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) – Authorities in Ohio found the body of missing 13-year-old Keimani Latigue on Monday.
Her father, who was initially charged with abduction, is now charged with murder.
Toledo police said they found a body during the investigation into the 13-year-old girl’s disappearance.
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office confirmed the body found on the second floor of an abandoned Miami Street house is that of the teen.

Keimani was reported missing last week.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine how the girl died.
Emotions ran high as dozens of people gathered at the intersection near the abandoned home, demanding answers as investigators recovered evidence from the building.

The missing girl’s mother, Tiara Kasten, was at the scene and expressed her frustration with the situation before the coroner confirmed the body was Keimani’s.
“I just want to know if it’s my baby. They’re still not telling me nothing,” Kasten said. “It’s nothing to take a picture. It’s nothing to let me know when the coroner’s bringing her out so I can see if that’s indeed my baby. You’re not saying nothing.”
Kasten went on to say there’s no reason her daughter would ever be in the area of the abandoned home. She said Keimani would only ever go to school, play basketball and go home. She recounted the last time she talked to her daughter.
“I seen her on the 15th. Her dad brought her down to my house. Apparently, my mother gave him permission and honestly, it was just loving on my kid. We play video games,” Kasten said.
The new developments came just hours after news that the teen’s father, 33-year-old Darnell Jones, was initially charged with abduction on Sunday.
Then, around 8:40 p.m. Monday, Toledo police announced Jones is being charged with murder in the teen’s death.
Court dockets show that as of late Monday night, there was an open warrant for his arrest.
The affidavit alleges Jones was the last person with Keimani before she went missing. He has allegedly given inconsistent statements about his activity with the victim and her whereabouts.
The complaint said phone and surveillance video were also factors in filing the charges.
The girl’s father told WTVG last week he saw Keimani late at night on March 16 after she called to say she was afraid to be home alone.
“I came over here because she said that it seemed like somebody was trying to break into the house. Me and my cousin sat over here for an hour and we left around 12:30ish,” Jones said.
Dorothy Latigue said she lived alone with Keimani. When she came home on March 17, she noticed the house was in disarray. She added that the stove was on and she could smell gas. Keimani’s keys and glasses, which she can’t see without, were at the house, according to the grandmother.
“Other than her and I, it’s just two dogs in the house, so who cut it on? So, that was kind of suspicious. Her glasses and her underclothes were by the couch in the front. Her pajamas were on the dining room floor,” Dorothy Latigue said.

A professional swimming instructor has issued a stern warning for parents to avoid wrapping a towel around their children’s shoulders, and revealed there is a ‘right’ way to wrap a child up to dry them.
After spotting many parents making a similar ‘mistake’ after lessons, certified US swim coach Nikki Scarnati warned it can restrict their movement if they were to fall in the water.
Nikki, who teaches swimming lessons in Spring Hills, Florida, has demonstrated a different way to use a towel in a video with her young daughter, which is by securely tucking the towel under the child’s arms after drying them off.
‘I see it happening so many times, and I did it without realising for so long,’ she says in the video.
‘When you get your child out of the pool, it’s natural to want to cover them completely – but if they were to fall into the pool this way, all of their limbs are going to be restricted underneath a wet towel.’
The mum advised: ‘After you get them out of the pool, you should first dry their arms off and put the towel underneath their arms.’
‘This way, if they end up in the water they can still have access to their limbs to self-rescue, and they’re that much safer,’ she added.
The swim instructor also urged parents to make sure the towel isn’t long enough to be a trip hazard.
