HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A father is facing charges after a juvenile was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound, according to the Huntington Police Department.
The incident happened on March 20, 2025, at 9:12 p.m.
The Huntington Police Department says the victim sustained injuries but is currently in stable condition.
Detectives and forensic investigators with the Huntington Police Department initiated an investigation, which led to the arrest of Anthony D. Presley, 35, of Huntington.
Presley, who is the father of the victim, has been charged with child neglect resulting in injury and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

When Good Food Kitchen, a popular restaurant in Wotton-under-Edge, requested photos of mums to celebrate Mother’s Day, the team was bowled over by the abundant response.
A post on the restaurant’s social media read: ‘We love Wotton’s mums! To help celebrate Mother’s Day and all of our amazing mums, please send us your favourite photo of your mum and we’ll decorate the restaurant window with it for Mother’s Day!’
“Within minutes of posting, we were getting messages, emails and responses, with people posting their favourite photos of their lovely mums”, said Jeremy McGovern, owner of Good Food Kitchen.
“We had more than 50 images on the first day, and we’ve now displayed those photos for the community to see.
“It’s truly heartwarming to see how many people wanted to show their love for their mums, posting pictures and tagging their mums, who all loved the gesture. We share the sentiment at Good Food Kitchen; we are serving a Mother’s Day brunch on 30th March, where each table receives a free bouquet of flowers for mum.
“We will wait for more photos to come in over the weekend, so if you want to celebrate your mum in our window, make sure you send us your favourite photo by Monday when we’ll print and hang any more we receive.”
Good Food Kitchen celebrates its first birthday today, Friday, and has made a massive impact on the community within a year, bringing together competing eateries for ‘Dine Wotton’, an initiative that rewards people for dining out, and has already won a community award.
Fred and Jeremy are also launching The Long Street Summer Social, a community street party that will boast activities such as live music, comedy, food, drinks, vendors and more, taking place in the heart of Wotton-under-Edge. The parents of Indian student Sudiksha Konanki, who went missing from a beach in the Dominican Republic on March 6, have said in an emotional announcement that they are coming to terms with the fact that she has drowned.
In a video, Ms Konanki’s father Subbarayudu can be seen fighting back tears as he says that authorities “on both sides”, presumably from the US and the Dominican Republic, have told them that the waves were very high at the time of the incident and that the person of interest in the case, 22-year-old Joshua Riibe, was not a suspect.
With his wife, Sreedevi, sobbing beside him, Mr Konanki says, “Both sides of the authorities have shown us how high the ocean waves were at the time of the incident and both sides of the authorities have clarified that the person of interest was not a suspect from the beginning.”
Wiping away a tear from his eye, he continues speaking but gets only as far as “It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart…” when his wife cups her face with her hands, sobbing louder, and turns away from the camera. Mr Konanki comforts her and pulls her towards him before saying, “…and a heavy heart that we are coming to terms with the fact that our daughter has drowned. This is incredibly difficult for us to process. We kindly ask you to keep our daughters in your prayers.”
CNN has reported that the Konankis have asked for their daughter to be declared dead to “seek closure”.
Ms Konanki, 20, a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the United States, studied at the University of Pittsburgh. She went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic with five friends on March 3.
Footage from March 5 shows her drinking at the bar of a hotel called Riu Republica before going to the beach with a group of people, including Riibe.
Ms Konanki was seen entering the beach at 4.15 am and all of her friends had returned by 5 am. Riibe, an Iowa resident and student at St Clou State University in Minnesota, told authorities that he had tried to rescue her after they were dragged in by a wave and she got tired of swimming
Riibe’s passport was confiscated by authorities in the Dominican Republic and he was interviewed for six hours, but he is not considered a suspect.
The request for the student being declared dead “supports the wishes of Ms Konanki’s grieving parents to seek closure in their request that the Dominican law enforcement authorities acknowledge the death of their daughter by accidental drowning,” the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, where Ms Konanki’s family lives, told CNN.

Jonathan Polin, father of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was murdered in Hamas captivity, posted to Facebook on Friday, criticizing the hostage negotiations and showing his support for Shin Bet head Ronen Bar.
The government voted unanimously to end Bar’s term as Shin Bet chief.
Bar will end his role on April 10 or when a new Shin Bet chief is appointed.
“I hope the true story of the failed negotiations to release the hostages will one day be revealed,” he wrote. “I continue to believe that the government never gave a sufficiently broad and serious mandate to the Israeli negotiating team. Hersh Goldberg-Polin
Hersh was kidnapped from the Nova Music Festival near Re’im on October 7 by Hamas terrorists after trying to hide in a bomb shelter. Jonathan and his wife, Rachel Goldberg-Polin, had been fighting for his and all the other hostages’ release.
Hersh was found murdered in the tunnels in September along with five other hostages, Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, Alexander Lobanov, and Ori Danino.
“To my beloved mother and my loving wife, your presence fills our lives with joy, and your love is the true meaning of giving. Happy Mother’s Day,” Hussein captioned the post.
Queen Rania became a first-time grandparent last August with the birth of her son Hussein and his wife Rajwa’s daughter, Princess Iman. Following the arrival of her first grandchild, the proud grandmother wrote on X (translated to English), “Praise be to God for His greatest gifts… You have enlightened our lives with our precious granddaughter, Iman. Parents should consider delaying access to smartphones for their children due to the “alarming trend” of alpha-male influencers promoting toxic masculinity among boys online, Tánaiste Simon Harris has said.
He was speaking at an event in his hometown of Greystones, Co Wicklow, where all eight primary schools and parents’ associations have agreed a “no smartphone voluntary code”.
“The Conor McGregors, the Andrew Tates – these are figures that exploit insecurities and reinforce outdated and dangerous narratives,” he told a gathering of principals, teachers and parents.
“If we don’t get on top of this, the result is a generation of boys who struggle to form healthy relationships, who are less emotionally resilient, and who are at risk of internalising damaging ideas about gender and identity.”
Mr Harris said the critically acclaimed Netflix TV series, Adolescence – about a 13-year-old who kills a classmate, which addresses themes including social media and masculinity – should be “compulsory viewing in every secondary school in Ireland”.
“It gives an incredible insight to young people, to parents and educators as to what the actual experience for many young men is today.
“Delaying smartphone use … gives children time to develop critical thinking skills before being exposed to these harmful influences,” he said.
“They allow boys to learn that true strength is found in kindness, respect, inclusion and emotional intelligence, not in the toxic and despicable bravado that they may encounter online.”
Mr Harris said the Government and EU were taking steps to regulate social media at a time when other parts of the world were adopting an attitude of “just let them off”.
“The idea that the online space can be like the wild west just simply doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. The era of self-regulation is over,” he said.
The Tánaiste was speaking at an event to mark the publication of research into the impact of the “It Takes A Village” initiative in Greystones, where schools have come together in a bid to tackle rising anxiety levels among children at primary level.

The initiative, led by Rachel Harper, principal of St Patrick’s National School, involved all eight primary schools in the area working together to work with the community to assist children, families and teachers in need of help with issues around anxiety in young children.
The initiative included the introduction of the “voluntary no smartphone code” across all primary schools, as well as fundraising to hire two play therapists to be shared across the schools.
The “It Takes A Village” initiative received international interest with schools across the globe adopting the principals of the initiative.
It also led to the Department of Education publishing guidelines to support parents and parent associations wishing to develop voluntary codes regarding smartphone use among primary schoolchildren, which have since been adopted by many other primary schools across the State.
Dr Mags Crean, professor in social policy in Maynooth University, presented the findings of a research evaluation report examining the impact of the initiative.
Her recommendations include the need for greater amplification of children and parents’ voices, the need for school-based supports in addition to resourced community supports, along with the need for Government action and provision of resources.
In addition, it is recommended that Government provide support to enable other communities to replicate the initiative elsewhere.
The event also heard details of a new “buddy system” being rolled out for pupils transitioning from primary to secondary school level. It involves transition year students at second level acting as mentors for sixth class pupils about online safety.
A GREENSTEAD baby and toddler playgroup has issued a desperate plea to help secure its future after learning it must leave its home.
St Andrews Stay and Play baby and toddler group has been at Unity Primary Academy for about five years.
The group – which has on average about 12 to 15 children each day – was originally in the primary school’s reception classroom before moving to the caretaker’s old house in September 2024.
A new tenant is moving into the house and as there cannot be dual occupancy, the baby and toddler group are looking for a new home by April 2.

“We work really hard to get funding every year, so we do not have to put that pressure on parents who instead can give £1 or £2 a day.”
Mrs Kirkman said at first the school suggested their small hall however this has no outdoor space or specific baby changing facilities.
The group runs on Wednesday mornings during term time and is manned by volunteers.
Youngsters can enjoy indoor and outdoor play, messy play, soft play and role play.
Mrs Kirkman said the group has five to six “regular families” who rely on their help.

“It seems like we might have something with St John Payne Church who we are meeting next week.”
Mrs Kirkman said the plans with the St John Payne Church on Blackthorn Avenue were not “yet concrete” but said the April 2 departure date, as well as upcoming Easter Holidays, had made the search more urgent.

Conservative MP Jesse Norman said his father helped bring “unbelievable joy to millions of young people” around the world, as he led tributes in the House of Commons.
Mr Norman added he hopes his father’s values of positivity, creativity and respect for others could inspire Parliament and the country at this time of “difficulty and stagnation”.
Sir Torquil served in the military and worked as an investment banker before entering the toymaking industry, a period which saw him establish Bluebird Toys.
Speaking at business questions on March 20, the shadow commons leader told MPs: “Almost exactly 24 hours ago, my father Torquil Norman died at the age of 91.
“He was an extraordinary man who flew Seafires and Sea Furies during his national service in the Fleet Air Arm.
“He created Polly Pocket, a toy which brought unbelievable joy to millions of young people around the House and around the world.

“And he rebuilt the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm in London, not just as an incredible performing arts centre but as a creative centre for young people and for them to find their way from whatever backgrounds into jobs.”
Mr Norman highlighted his father’s values and noted he always said the secret to success in the toy business was to have “a mental age of seven and an eye for detail”.
He added that even in his 80s he was building and creating a new enterprise to develop flatpack trucks, that would be sold around the world at low cost and in countries supporting businesses and people.
“I think the whole House would perhaps agree with me that we need these values today, a time of difficulty and stagnation and international conflict, we need these values of creativity, of ambition, of drive, of respect for others and, above all, a capability – not just a focus on the head but on the hand and the heart as well,” he said.
“It’s something I feel very strongly about, we’re trying to build this new university in Hereford, a specialist technical engineering college, precisely to bring those kinds of different aspects of the human personality together in the service of better jobs and better possibilities.”
