March Madness in Miami is in full swing, and the upsets just keep coming. Top seeds are dropping like dominoes at the Masters 1000 event. Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Madison Keys are just a few big names who have made early exits. Now, Indian Wells champions Jack Draper and Mirra Andreeva have also bowed out, ending their hopes of completing the Sunshine Double. Draper fell to rising Czech star Jakub Mensik, while Andreeva lost to Amanda Anisimova. It was a clash of generations—former teenage prodigy vs. current teenage sensation. And in a thrilling three-set battle, Anisimova came out on top, winning 7-6, 2-6, 6-3. But did you know this match wouldn’t have happened if Anisimova’s parents hadn’t moved to the U.S.? Amanda Anisimova was born in Freehold Township, New Jersey, to Russian parents Olga Anisimova and Konstantin Anisimov. She has an older sister, Maria, who played college tennis at the University of Pennsylvania while attending Wharton’s undergraduate business school. Her parents emigrated from Russia to the U.S. a few years before she was born, hoping to provide Maria with better opportunities. Neither parent had a background in competitive tennis—they worked in finance and banking.

Despite that, tennis quickly became a family affair. Amanda’s biggest inspiration was her older sister. Watching Maria play sparked her own passion for the sport. “When I was little, she was playing tennis. I always saw her playing, and I wanted to do it too. That’s how I got into it, and my parents got into it too,” the World No.17 shared in an interview with the WTA Tour.

Her family relocated to Florida when she was very young, seeking better training opportunities. Amanda and Maria had access to top coaches, and their father played a key role in her development, serving as her primary coach throughout her junior years. Her mother also helped with coaching. While Maria stepped away to pursue a career in banking, Amanda still chased tennis success.

Interestingly, Anisimova’s journey mirrors that of another legendary tennis family. In 1991, the Williams family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, so Venus and Serena could attend Rick Macci’s tennis academy. Their father, Richard Williams, coached them for years, laying the foundation for their historic careers. His approach has since become a model for parents with similar aspirations for their children.

Coming back to the Miami Open, up next, the 23-year-old faces former US Open champion Emma Raducanu, in the fourth round of the Miami Open.

Amanda Anisimova vs. Emma Raducanu: A High-Stakes Fourth-Round Clash

For both players, this marks their first time reaching the fourth round in Miami. Raducanu advanced after her third-round opponent, McCartney Kessler, retired due to injury. The Brit was leading 3-0 in the second set after winning the first 6-1. Before that, she pulled off a gritty upset over eighth seed Emma Navarro, winning 7-6(6), 2-6, 7-6(3). Raducanu now holds a 6-6 record for the season and has won three matches at a tournament for the first time in 2025.

Anisimova, meanwhile, has been on a rollercoaster. She kicked off the season by winning the WTA 1000 event in Doha but struggled in Dubai and Indian Wells, losing in the early rounds. Now, she’s back in form, bringing an 11-4 record into the Miami Open.

These two have faced off once before—earlier this year at the Australian Open. Raducanu won that encounter 6-3, 7-5 in the second round. Now, Anisimova has a chance to even the score. The winner of this battle will move on to face either Jessica Pegula or Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals. Who do you think will come out on top this time?

 

Chuck Bass’ baby has arrived!

Ed Westwick, who played the “Gossip Girl” character for six seasons, welcomed his first child with his wife, Amy Jackson.

“Welcome to the world, baby boy. Oscar Alexander Westwick,” the couple captioned a joint Instagram post Monday featuring black-and-white photos of them holding the bundled-up newborn outdoors.

The little one joins Jackson’s 5-year-old son, Andreas, whom the model shares with her ex-fiancé George Panayiotou.

Westwick, 37, and Jackson, 33, announced in October 2024 that they had a little one on the way.

“Mum and Dad,” the couple captioned maternity shoot snaps at the time, with the then-pregnant star debuting her bump in a white gown.

That same week, the actress put her budding belly on display when she stepped out with her husband in London.

The duo walked down the aisle in August 2024 on Italy’s Amalfi Coast in front of their friends and family in an extravagant ceremony.

The groom honored their one-month anniversary via Instagram with a black-and-white picture from their nuptials, gushing, “@iamamyjackson you made me the happiest guy on the planet. I love you.”

The pair have been an item since meeting at the Silverstone Circuit racetrack in late 2021.

Westwick proposed to his partner while on vacation in Gstaad, Switzerland, in January 2024.

“Hell YES,” the couple wrote alongside engagement pics, with the “Chalet Girl” star adding on his Instagram Story that he had “hit the jackpot.”

The previous year, Westwick called Jackson “a great mother” to Andreas.

The “Supergirl” alum gave birth to the little one in September 2019 and split from hotelier Panayiotou two years later.

Westwick, for his part, dated influencer Tamara Francesconi for two years before moving on with Jackson.

The deaths of a father and son in a hit-and-run crash in Jersey were “tragic”, a coroner has told their inquests.

Dean Lowe, 48, and his 11-year-old son Charlie were hit by a vehicle in Rue de Fauvic, Grouville, on 5 August 2023.

Dylan John Pounds, 29, was jailed for 15 years in December for hitting the pair with his van having spent the day drinking. The father and son were found on the road later the same day by other drivers after Pounds fled the scene in his van.

Coroner Advocate Mark Harris concluded Mr Lowe died from head and neck injuries while Charlie also suffered “unsurvivable” head injuries. He gave his sympathies to the pair’s friends and family.

Mr Harris said details of the case were “unpleasant to hear” and offered to adjourn the hearing if anyone needed a break.

He also explained the inquest’s findings would be “consistent” with details heard during the trial last autumn.

Monday’s inquest marked the end of formal investigations into the Lowes’ deaths.

The inquest heard that Pounds, who was found guilty of causing the deaths of Mr Lowe and his son by dangerous driving, had about nine pints of beer before the crash.

He had been drinking in the Union Inn, the Pembroke Pub and the Dolphin in Gorey, where he was seen swaying and spilling his drink down himself, the hearing was told.

The inquest heard from a States of Jersey Police crash scene investigator, who said there was no evidence of braking at the scene, and forensic tests on Pounds found fragments of broken glass from his windscreen in his hair and beard.

Insp Rob Manners said the crash could have been avoided if Pounds, who was driving at 44mph (70km/h) when the crash happened, had been travelling within the speed limit of 30mph (48km/h).

Discussing previous incidents on the same stretch of road, Insp Manners said there had been nine crashes since 2010, and three had resulted in serious injuries.

But he said only one other had involved a pedestrian and that had happened in daylight.

He concluded that the 30mph (48kmh) limit on Rue de Fauvic still seemed appropriate.

Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have been enjoying time as a family with their newborn daughter after welcoming her into the world.

The actress, 37, and the former TOWIE star, 38, announced the birth of baby Palma earlier this month by sharing an adorable black-and-white picture of their daughter.

Now, Michelle’s mother Jackie has taken to Instagram on Monday to share a rare photo of her cuddling her grandchild. 

The little girl was sweetly dressed in a personalised yellow knitted cardigan with Palma written in white writing across the back. 

The newborn had a large brown bow headband on as she peacefully slept on Jackie’s chest.  

Jackie wrote: ‘It’s the little cuddles that are the best’. 

Michelle and Mark have so far only shared a glimpse at their baby girl as they uploaded black and white pictures. 

Over the weekend, the actress shared a close-up shot of her baby girl’s tiny foot on her Instagram Stories. 

The Netflix star captioned the sweet snap with: ‘Simply magic’ (with a twinkling star emoji).

Michelle’s mother Jackie is said to be over the moon at becoming a grandmother and is supporting her daughter in every way.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Jackie is over the moon to be a grandma. Palma is her first grandchild and she is besotted, as are the whole family. She’s so proud of Michelle.’

Insiders told the publication she has been a ‘pillar of support’ and a frequent visitor at Michelle and Mark’s Essex home since the baby’s birth.

Mark and Michelle built a designer granny flat at their £3.5million mansion, meaning the couple’s parents can stay and help out whenever they like with their own space.

The 60 sq ft annexe – which is bigger than the average London flat – is used by family members when they come to visit their dream home.

Mark has described fatherhood as the ‘biggest achievement’ of his life since welcoming baby Palma into the world with Michelle on March 6.

Chatting with his best friend and fellow dad Olly Murs on his Heart Breakfast show, Mark recalled the moment he first held his newborn daughter in his arms.

Mark fought back emotions as he said: ‘Mate, it’s actually hard to put into words.

‘It’s the biggest achievement of my life its all I think about but obviously hats go off to my wife she is an absolute super human, a superhero for bringing this baby into the world.’

Sharing his appreciation for Michelle, he added: ‘It makes you realise what our mums did for us and makes me have so much more respect than I already had and what women had to go through.

‘It’s the best feeling in the world. I wake up every morning just so excited to see her face.’

Recalling the first moment he held Palma, he continued: ‘That moment when I held her in my arms, it gets me emotional now thinking about it.

‘I suppose everything else goes out the window and its made me realise what life is all about and my little baby Palma I love you so much and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.

‘It’s a very special feeling. I cant really put it into words. We’ve waited a little bit of time, we’ve chased our dreams and our careers and now we’re here. We’ve got a baby.’

Mark and Michelle announced the news of their daughter’s birth last Wednesday with a sweet snap shared to Instagram.

In a sweet black-and-white photo, the proud new parents held Palma’s tiny hand, with the newborn dressed in a crochet set.

It’s believed the couple chose the name Palma because of their strong links to Mallorca, their go-to holiday destination and the setting for their pregnancy reveal photoshoot.

Michelle married Mark in May 2015 and the couple live together in an Essex mansion they built from scratch.
