  • Ghost Sitting With My Babies

Y’all. This is the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I was getting ready to go out. That means fixing my hair and makeup and finding an outfit.

That’s hard to do when you’ve got two toddlers and a baby by yourself. Since their new obsession is The Lion King, I decided to put the movie on so they’d sit and watch it so I could get ready. They were sitting quietly on the couch.

Jayce was in his chair beside them. I turned the camera on them and was watching them from the iPad upstairs. Every so often I would glance down and every time they were sitting in the same spot watching the movie. But this time I looked down and saw someone (an adult) sitting on my couch looking at the baby and the babies just watching their movie like it was no big deal.

My heart dropped. I ran downstairs and turned the corner to the living room and no one was on the couch. I JUST saw them ten seconds before. The babies were still sitting there in the same exact spots watching their movie. This person was on my camera but not actually there? Naturally I assumed it was a ghost and I caught it on my camera! I ran back upstairs to see if I could see this ghost again. I looked at my iPad and they were sitting on my couch still! I called my mom to show her this ghost on my iPad. As I was getting ready to show her, I looked down and lost it. Somehow my iPad went from the camera’s live view to a clip that was recorded earlier. It was me. I was the ghost on the couch. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Yes I Have Two Kids And I Smoke Weed Daily

Yes, I have two kids. Yes, I smoke weed daily.

It’s so funny to my how frowned upon marijuana is. No one looks twice when a mom says she enjoys “mom juice” aka wine, after her kids are in bed. But when a mom says she smokes weed, it’s a huge shock.

I talk about this to bring awareness. I feel as not enough people talk about this. Marijuana has helped me so much, especially when it comes to being a mom.

I have never been the most patient with my two kids. Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good night sleep after I smoke. I wake up well rested, and with a more clear mind.

It’s okay to smoke weed after your kids go to bed.

It’s okay to smoke it to help with anxiety. Mine has been SO much better since I started smoking.

It’s okay to smoke it to gain weight. I’ve always been dangerously underweight. Now, I am at the healthiest weight I have ever been in my life.

It’s okay to smoke it, to help you get off medication. I was able to completely stop my anti depressants because smoking helped me so much.

It’s okay to smoke instead of drink. I used to have a problem with drinking, and my behaviour that came along with that. Weed has helped me to stop drinking so much, and to be honest, I much prefer smoking over drinking.

Marijuana is my glass of wine.

    It’s my can of beer.

    It’s my relaxation time.

You can still be a kick ass mom, and smoke weed.

  • Parents Beware Of This New App

Parents….I discovered tonight that my 11 year old has been posting videos of herself on an app called Likee, which is basically the same as tik tok, after her dad and I both told her no to tik tok because it wasn’t safe. After discovering this and seeing the messages she’s been receiving from users like “Ivan” who has no posts of his own, no identifying profile pic, but THOUSANDS of likes on videos of little girls, many barely dressed and some looking very grown and suggestive, as well as the types of videos these babies are uploading for predators to view, complete with location tags, and even a “nearby” tab to see videos posted near your own location.

I can’t say this enough…CHECK YOUR CHILD’S PHONE!!! Tik tok is huge, and a ton of kids are using it, not just adults. Are you watching? She did this after having her phone monitored closely since she got it and only recently had been deemed trustworthy enough to have the check-ups less frequently.

Now she’s afraid to go to school because she understands that she gave the world a roadmap and invitation to find her. I won’t post the video she uploaded, but to sum it up, the song she was dancing and seducing the camera to, for lack of a better way to put it, was very suggestive and loaded with innuendos…not even what an 11 year old should be listening to, let alone understanding.

Her father and I are livid, but even more I’m terrified for these children who are unwittingly placing targets on their backs. So please, for the love of God, invade their privacy, and do it regularly! Check every app, go through them thoroughly, look through their pictures, read their messages….because you never know. Please share this as well, get the word out, because you can have all the conversations in the world about being safe and staying offline, but they want to be cool like their friends, and they think we know nothing, so don’t be so naive to think “my child wouldn’t….” BECAUSE YOU JUST DON’T KNOW!

  • Beautiful Poem After The Lose Of A Loved One

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep.

I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep.

I spoke to you softly as you brushed away a tear,

    “It’s me, I haven’t left you, I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,

You were thinking of the many things and memories of me.

I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.

I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.

I want to re-assure you, that I’m not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.

I gently put my hand on you; I smiled and said, “it’s me.”

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.

I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It’s possible for me, to be so near you everyday.

To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew…

in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over… I smile and watch you yawning

and say “good-night, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,

I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out…then come home to me.

  • There’s No Trophy For Labour

    “There’s no trophy Ashley”

The best 4 words my husband could have said to me in that delivery room. It put my whole world as a Mom into perspective. I was in agony and trying to decide whether or not to get an epidural. I had no idea I was already at the very end of my labor and would be pushing Leo out within minutes. All I knew was that I was in pain and couldn’t imagine laboring like that for what I thought would be a few more hours.

I was trying to talk to him between contractions on the verge of tears and he lovingly spoke lots of support and some truth into my universe with, “There’s no trophy Ashley.”

Then when I was fretting about supplementing with some formula those first few days and not wanting to feel like I was already failing at breastfeeding I heard those words again, “There’s no trophy Ashley.”

There it hit me. As moms in today’s world it can feel like we’re all competing for a trophy that doesn’t exist. I literally thought in that delivery room that I would somehow be “less than” as mother for tapping out and asking for the drugs. Like there would be a gold medal or AT LEAST a gold sticker on my medical chart for having a natural birth. And I felt like I was letting some invisible committee down when we bought formula to help him pass the amniotic fluid he had swallowed.

Since having this third sweet boy six weeks ago I’ve given lots more thought to the invisible trophies we create as moms. Some society creates for us. Standards we try so hard to measure up to even though the contest is make believe and we were made to live in community, not competition.

🏆There’s no trophy for delivering naturally vs. opting for an epidural or having a C-section.

🏆There’s no trophy for breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding.

🏆There’s no trophy for losing the baby weight the fastest.

🏆There’s no trophy for cutest delivery gown (FOR THE LOVE, it’s okay to look like you just had a baby!!!).

🏆There’s no trophy for most creative birthday party theme.

🏆There’s no trophy for how many activities you sign your kids up for.

[This list could go on forever]

My husband has no idea how meaningful those words have been allowing me to relax into having a newborn again. And I wanted to invite you to relax into motherhood with me.

🤱Because the only trophy you’ll carry through life is the bond you create with your baby. And like I’ve said before, we all go home from the hospital with a big basket of mesh undies and sanitary pads the size of our newborns no matter how glamorous our Insta pics look.

  • YES I Use A Backpack Leash With My Daughter

Yes! I use a backpack “leash” with my daughter… why? Well why not 🤔

She’s NOT wearing a backpack “leash” because she’s an animal 🙄. She’s not out of control. It’s not because she doesn’t listen. It’s not because I’m lazy.

    🗣She’s ONE!

She is learning. She’s learning freedom & independence but also safety & boundaries.

She’s curious. She wants to explore. She doesn’t want to be stuck sitting in a stroller, she wants to walk & burn energy.

Because human trafficking is REAL! Child predators are lurking, waiting for you to be distracted to snatch your child. They are looking for targets.

I’m not naive. Danger is out there in almost every situation. It could be crossing a parking lot. I have multiple kids, distractions happen.

    A parent could have a toddler who’s a runner.

I feel better knowing that she is still attached to me but with a little mobility and not running off.

I often hear “oh but I would never…” well good for you 👏

    So to sum it up…

MIND YOUR OWN PARENTING & do you 👌

  • I’m Just Tired Mummy

Today as soon as I picked my five year old up from kindergarten, I could tell she was in, what I like to call, one of her “moods”. She was crying over everything, not being herself, and acting so uptight. My immediate reaction was to get annoyed. And say “you’re almost six, why are you acting like this?!”

It wasn’t until a few hours of her acting like this, that she looked at me with tears in her eyes, and I said “are you just having a draining day?” She hugged me and said “I’m just tired mommy.” And that when I realized, I totally forgot what I always preach about to my kids. Your mental health being your top priority.

So, I drew her a lavender bubble bath, gave her a face mask, and lit some candles while she read her books and sipped on her apple juice.

After the bath, she was a new kid. The kid I usually know. She was happy, had more energy, and was handling things better.

I think we all forgot that even for kids, life gets too much sometimes. And even they need a break from it all.

Today taught me that I need to be a more understanding parent, as I too go through so much and need a nice bath to myself to escape it all. It doesn’t matter the age. We all need that.

  • Dear Teacher Monsters Are Real

On Monday, Billy didn’t have his homework

And when the teacher asked him why

He said, “Because a monster ripped it up,

After I told him a lie.”

    “You know monsters don’t exist,

And if you don’t turn in your homework

    No recess you will get

On Tuesday, Billy had a stomach ache

And when the teacher asked him why

He said, “A monster took away my dinner,

    even my ice cream.”

“Billy, I’ve told you once before,

    Monsters are not real.

You’ll have to wait till lunchtime

    Before you get a meal.”

On Wednesday, Billy had a bandage,

    Which covered his right eye.

When the teacher asked him how it happened,

    This was his reply:

“A monster was running after me

When I ran into the door:”

    “Billy please,” the teacher said,

“I don’t want to hear any more.”

On Thursday, Billy refused to sit down,

And when the teacher asked him why,

Billy said, “A monster whipped my bottom,

    Because I started to cry,”

    “Billy, said the teacher,

” this is getting out of hand,

And if you continue with these stories,

In the corner you will stand.”

On Friday, Billy didn’t come to school,

And when the teacher found out why,

She said a little prayer to God

    In hopes Billy would survive.

For a monster had beaten Billy

and threatened him with a knife.

Now Billy lay in a hospital bed,

    Fighting for his life.

    So teachers please remember,

    That monsters are for real.

    Listen closely to kids stories,

A wounded heart you may heal

  • So Tonight I Banned Fortnite

    So tonight I banned Fortnite.

From tonight, Fortnite is not allowed in my house.

No more playing it, no more talking about it, no more watching some guy shout about it on Youtube.

Fortnite brings nothing but bad attitude, anger and arguments into my house, and enough is enough.

It’s not my boy’s fault that he thinks Fortnite is ‘sick’. It’s not his fault Fortnite makes him behave a certain way. And it’s not his fault that I’ve finally banned it.

It’s not his fault that he is now going to be left out of conversations in school. And it’s not his fault that peer pressure is going to make him mad at me.

    It’s not his fault.

Fortnite brings about an attitude and behaviour that is not okay. It encourages violence and arrogance and self entitlement.

    No more.

It’s not his fault, but it’s MY choice.

I’m done. Fortnite has officially LEFT THE BUILDING.

  • Is Our Daughter Out There In The Cold Waiting For Us To Find Her?

8 calendar months. Spring gone, summer gone and now autum approaches. To say we feel bleak today is an understatement. Winter blues seem a small worry compared to the worry we have carried as a family for the past 8 months. Yet it adds to our depression anyway.

Is our daughter out there in the cold and rain waiting for us to find her? Is she ever going to be found?

We would like to thank the amazing lady who contacted the police regarding the stewartby hoodie. Hopefully she is the first piece of the puzzle.

Hopefully others follow her lead and come forward.

Someone moved the hoodie from the tree.

    Someone else saw it.

Someone maybe saw who put it there.

    Someone maybe saw our Leah.

Please speak up. Please come forward. We need you.

Thank you to our colleagues who continue who place posters around the country whilst on their annual leave. Thank you to family who spend their weekends doing the same. Thank you to the people of Blackpool who have taken Leah’s posters and displayed them in their homes, cars and chip shops.

Thank you to those of you kind enough to share this post and the many other posts already shared.

Thank you to those of you who have not given up on us and for not kicking us when we are down.

    #Comehomeleah

    Leah darling,

We miss you. We love you. We want you safe. Come back to us xxxxxxxx
