  • Nurse Placing Nappy Over Our Son’s Face Is Not Okay

On the 12th October I set off to go and see Henry as usual I walk in and walk over to my son to see this.

He had a nappy over his face, he had a blanket on him in a humidified incubator and he had his feeding tube hung up to the side of his incubator with a piece of sellotape. Why? Why would he possibly need a nappy over his face and why would this be acceptable?

Apparenly because his nurse was trying to sort a cannula in his left foot for some antibiotics and the light was too bright. Which was not in when I got there. Anyone who has had or know of anyone who has been in nicu knows that they have blankets over the top of their incubator so the light doesn’t shine on them, however this still confuses me as Henry’s eyes are nowhere near his feet… it is also important that when you’re feeding anyone through a NG tube that it is important to stay with them whilst the feed is being done and monitor them closely just incase the feed needs to be stopped immediately.

Colin got told off a few days prior as he was taking a photo of Henry and HOLDING his tube and the nurse said you can’t do that, you have to watch the baby at all times as Henry has desaturations. So why is this acceptable for a nurse who has been trained and knows the importance?

When I walked in I got the doctor straight away and said why have I walked into my son like this, the doctor said I’m not sure I will go and get his nurse, a student nurse then came over and said she’s so sorry she’s never seen anything like this. The nurse looking after Henry was nowhere to be seen, when I questioned this I got told that she was in the reception speaking to someone, another patients parent. If I remember correctly she only had Henry at this point as it was very quiet in nicu.

This was Henry’s last ever feed as after this feed his feeds got stopped due to an infection it was 8ml of milk, a tiny amount of milk that would have taken no longer than 30 seconds to hold and let go down.

If Colin and I put a nappy over Henry’s face and tied his tube up with and left him to go and speak to one of the other mums we would have had social services come to us and questions would have been asked regarding our parenting skills so why is this acceptable? Someone we trust to look and care for our babies while we can’t?

I took a photo straight away and it was sent to the matron and we still haven’t got the answers from an “investigation” being taken place about it so no doubt she is doing it to other baby’s in a vulnerable position.

Myself Harper and Henry all born prematurely and they have done a fantastic job im not saying the hospital is bad but on this particular day walking into this, seeing my son being treated like this is NOT ok!

  • This Is The Underwear We Give To Survivors Of Rape

This is the underwear that no woman wants to wear.

And it’s not just because it’s a plain cotton sports bra the color of Pepto-Bismol.

It’s because this is the underwear we give to survivors of rape and sexual assault after we take their own underwear as evidence.

We take their nice underwear, their favorite underwear, their cute underwear, their comfy underwear, their best-fitting bra, their 75-dollar designer bra, their weekend bra, their work bra. And we take it away from them while wearing gloves, and drop it into a paper bag, and seal it with evidence tape and write their police case number on the outside, and send it to the state crime lab, and they never see it again.

And we give them some Fruit from the Loom to wear home, back to a life and a world they no longer recognize and no longer trust.

But here’s the kicker: That boring sports bra is WAY way WAY better than what some survivors get when they’re discharged.

Some women have ALL of their clothes taken for evidence. Shirt. Undershirt. Pants. Bra. Underwear. Even their socks. And if the local forensic/sexual assault program that cares for them doesn’t have — or won’t buy — or can’t buy — clothes for them, they get discharged in hospital scrubs.

    And grippy hospital socks.

    And postpartum white-mesh hospital underwear.

    And no bra.

Ever seen a woman who’s just been raped, just had a three-hour forensic exam, just had every surface of her battered body swabbed and photographed and inventoried for the police, ever seen her walk out of a hospital wearing oversized hospital scrubs —

—and her arms wrapped tightly around her chest, ashamed, because she doesn’t have a bra to wear?

    I have.

And I absolutely refuse to ever see it again.

This is $150 of underwear from Kohl’s. My team and I buy this underwear ourselves for our patients, because we are no longer willing to let any of our survivors go home without a bra, or without a decent pair of underwear.

If you are looking for a place to donate something meaningful this holiday season, reach out to your local Forensic Nursing team, rape crisis center, or domestic violence shelter.

Go to Wal-Mart, or Kohl’s, or Target, and buy clothes you’d feel comfortable in curled up, safe at home, watching TV. And donate them.

New underwear, a comfortable bra, a comfortable pair of pants, a soft hoody, squishy socks — all of these things can help make a woman who has survived a violent rape feel like a person again.

    A person.

    Not a victim.

Because it’s a long walk down that hallway, out of the hospital, and back into the world.

At least she can be comfortable as she takes each step.

  • Dear Teacher Monsters Are Real

On Monday, Billy didn’t have his homework

And when the teacher asked him why

He said, “Because a monster ripped it up,

After I told him a lie.”

    “You know monsters don’t exist,

And if you don’t turn in your homework

    No recess you will get

On Tuesday, Billy had a stomach ache

And when the teacher asked him why

He said, “A monster took away my dinner,

    even my ice cream.”

“Billy, I’ve told you once before,

    Monsters are not real.

You’ll have to wait till lunchtime

    Before you get a meal.”

On Wednesday, Billy had a bandage,

    Which covered his right eye.

When the teacher asked him how it happened,

    This was his reply:

“A monster was running after me

When I ran into the door:”

    “Billy please,” the teacher said,

“I don’t want to hear any more.”

On Thursday, Billy refused to sit down,

And when the teacher asked him why,

Billy said, “A monster whipped my bottom,

    Because I started to cry,”

    “Billy, said the teacher,

” this is getting out of hand,

And if you continue with these stories,

In the corner you will stand.”

On Friday, Billy didn’t come to school,

And when the teacher found out why,

She said a little prayer to God

    In hopes Billy would survive.

For a monster had beaten Billy

and threatened him with a knife.

Now Billy lay in a hospital bed,

    Fighting for his life.

    So teachers please remember,

    That monsters are for real.

    Listen closely to kids stories,

A wounded heart you may heal

  • Why Doesn’t She Just Leave

    Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?

Because he has her so brainwashed that it’s all her fault and that she’s no good to anyone and no one will want her or love her and there’s no way she can possibly make it on her own.

    Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?

Because she thinks that if she just tries harder and if she’s a better wife and a better mom that maybe he will be happy with her and he wouldn’t get so angry with her. And maybe he will be the same sweet, charming man that he was when they first met.

    Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?

Because he has her convinced that if she tries he will hurt or kill her or her family. Because he has threatened to tell the judge that she is a bad mom and will take away her kids and she will never see them again. Because he has taken away her money and convinced her that she has no good job qualities to make it on her own financially and she will always need him.

More people are concerned with why women stay in abusive relationships than why men are abusing women. Unless you’ve been in an abusive relationship people have no idea how hard it is to escape. Abusers are able to fool those outside the home because they usually only abuse those inside the home.

    They need your support.

    They need your love.

They do not need your judgement.

    Let’s raise awareness 💜

  • I Married A Bully But My Daughter Got A Worse Deal

    I married a bully.

I married a piss poor excuse of a man that started slapping me after the first year. He then went on to constantly give me black eyes, break my nose and even shove a glass in my face. Jade was only a little girl, but she saw some of it, and when she was at the age of 4 or 5 I left him. He started turning the light off and back on again because he knew it scared her. He could do what he liked to me but I would never cry. His only way to really get to me was through Jade. That was enough for me to exit that marriage, so we left. I left my own house and a lot of what was in it just to get away from that scumbag; I was not prepared to put her in danger.

Jade knew what was going on and as she grew she wasn’t going to let anyone treat her the way I had been treated. She’d seen the pain I’d had to go through and the pills the doctor put me on because of the state I was in. Valium, Amitriptyline, Prozac… You name it, I’ve been on it.

At the ripe old age of 26 I was a wreck. Beaten black and blue for years by a piece of shit whose aim in life was to kick fuck out of someone he professed to love. He’d cover me in ‘love’ bites and scrawl big purple welts down my back. HIS marks!

So, Jade steered clear of scum like him. Then she met someone she hadn’t seen for years and started dating him. It lasted about 7 months from start to finish. He wanted her to settle down, have kids etc but that’s not what she wanted. Jade was loving life. She loved her job, had her own house, new car, went on different holidays around the world, loved her family and her friends. Life couldn’t have been better for her.

    Jump forward to today…

6 years ago today, at around this time 5:45pm, Jade sat on my sofa and told me her new ‘man’ was jealous, possessive and that she had finished with ‘him’ but not told him. She said she wanted to ‘break away gently’, so had told him she wanted a little space. I told her he would hit her. I know the signs; been there, done that. She said she didn’t think he would.

I never saw her again because 2 days later she was dead.

Backed into her own kitchen, stabbed 96 times with at least 4 of her own kitchen knives, while he screamed at her ‘that’s what you get for being a slag’. The filthy, murdering bastard thought she was seeing someone else, when all along she wanted a little peace away from his demands. And away from that bitch of a mother of his who supplied the bullets for the murderers imaginary gun.

He made such a mess of Jade that I never got to say goodbye. I wasn’t able to see her because he shredded her; something his mother saw and hope she sees every single night when she closes her eyes and every single morning when she opens them.

I don’t dwell on those scumbags, but they are still breathing, so I hope they both suffer a long, excruciatingly painful death. And I hope Jade haunts them every rotten day they are on this Earth, but she won’t. Because Jade was lovely and wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing.

So, my darling Jade, I will be reading my cards in a moment and hoping you will come to me for a little while. I miss you so bad and regardless of what people say, it doesn’t get any easier.

    Keep on dancing up there

  • Care Workers Kicked And Abused Patient

A PAIR of care workers who ill-treated a vulnerable mental health patient at a private hospital in Colchester left the victim with fractured ribs and a punctured lung.

Scott Geeson, 28, lashed out and kicked the 44-year-old man whilst working at Cambian Fairview Hospital, in Boxted Road, in 2016.

Lelish Shercan, 27, was also on duty and should have been looking after the patient, who suffered severe mental health problems and had learning difficulties.

Geeson, of Winnock Road, Colchester, and Shercan, of Circus Square Colchester, admitted ill-treating or wilfully neglecting a person without capacity on the day of their trial earlier this month.

The victim, who has severe learning impairments and mental health difficulties, was found with fractured ribs and a punctured lung after an encounter with the pair in his room.

He has since made a full physical recovery and has been moved to another care home.

Since the incident reviews have been carried out by the Care Quality Commission, assisted by the force and Essex County Council.

Cambian officially dismantled and relinquished control of the facility.

It has since been taken over by a new management company, Cygnet.

Geeson and Shercan were sentenced at a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court today.

Jake Taylor, mitigating on behalf of Geeson, said his client did not accept he had caused all of the injuries.

He said: “Around this time his mother had become very unwell and passed away.

“He was coping with that and was frustrated for a number of reasons.

“All these factors built up and resulted in a man lashing out against someone who he otherwise had a good relationship with.”

Shercan was educated in Nepal and his father is a member of the Royal Gurkha Regiment.

Sean Hammond, mitigating on behalf of Shercan, said he was at risk of deportation from the country if he was sent straight to custody.

He said: “The way he behaved on this occasion is completely out of character. He deeply regrets the suffering caused to the victim and his family and wants to offer his sincere apologies.”

Judge John Devaux jailed Geeson for 21 months and Shercan for 16 months.

However Shercan’s sentence will be suspended for two years.

Detective Constable Tim Harris, of Colchester CID, described the pair’s behaviour as “vile and completely unacceptable.”

“It has taken more than three years to see justice for this extremely vulnerable victim,” he said.

“The people who should have cared for him were those who betrayed and mistreated him – their behaviour was vile and completely unacceptable.

“I hope that the other workers, who have supported us fully throughout this investigation and raised the alarm when they recognised the victim’s injuries, realise how instrumental they were in the outcome of this case.

“Speaking out against colleagues, even when they’ve done something wrong, can be incredibly difficult.

“Their bravery has made a real difference to someone who could not speak for themselves.

“By standing up, they’ve given him a voice and allowed Shercan and Geeson to be brought to justice.

“This case was complex and harrowing for everyone involved in the investigation, but it has highlighted one thing – we need whistleblowers now more than ever.

“If that’s you, come forward and call us. You never know what impact it could have.”

  • Childminder Burnt Babies Feet Because She Kept Crying

When a mum returned home to her six-month-old baby, she wasn’t met by a smiling happy bundle of joy that she had left earlier. As she returned to her house after being away for a few hours, she discovered that 36-year-old babysitter Ismelda Ramos Mendoza had harmed her daughter.

The moment she got through the door, she knew something was not right. Upon looking at her baby, she discovered that the soles of her feet were covered in huge blisters.

When she asked the babysitter what had happened, the babysitter said she had no idea. The mother was not satisfied with the answer and suspected the babysitter did something to her child. She called the police to lodge a claim of child abuse.

She then took her daughter straight to the hospital after speaking to the police, where she discovered the real extent of her wounds. On both feet, she had severe burns, as if they had been cooked.

After 36-year-old Mendoza was arrested, it was discovered that she had become angry while she was cooking when the baby didn’t stop crying.

Mendoza then grabbed the baby and forced her feet into the frying pan as punishment, according to The Washington Post.

  • Baby Badly Bitten At Daycare

So, I have really been debating sharing this or not. However, I feel that if someone I knew was looking into a daycare for their child I would want them to know NOT to use this one.

My 3 year old daughter came home the end of May with 13 bites all over her body…. not one, two, or even 3, but 13! I was informed 10 minutes before I arrived to pick her up that day that she had been bitten 5 times on the stomach but that none of them broke the skin. Before I even got there I was furious. In my mind I was thinking five times is way to excessive for my baby to be bit while being under anyone’s “supervision “.

When I picked her up and got her into the car I was distraught! I literally had no words… I couldn’t even make myself talk to the staff, not that they offered me any kind of explanation other than a little boy bit her and pushed her down outside, but the teacher didn’t notice the bites until they came in for snack. Ok, where were you while my daughter was screaming and crying in the dirt on the playground for help!??

I called my mother crying and upset and asked what we should do, I could not send my baby back to a place where she had been allowed to be abused. So we made a report and pressed charges, all of which were sustained by DFCS and Bright from the Start. She had bites, and bruises, and marks on her face from what appears to have been caused by being hit in the face per her pediatrician. My 3 year old has teeth mark scars on her body now because someone wasn’t doing their job! Please ask around and research before placing your babies in a daycare! This was at a childcare network in Henry county on Jodeco rd.

  • Because You Didn’t Want To Lose Him, You Lost Yourself

Because you didn’t want to lose him, you lost yourself in the process.

You became a girl who kept being mistreated and you formed a habit of saying “I’m used to it”. You became a girl who kept being unappreciated and you began to tell yourself “It’s okay”.

You became a girl who kept being undervalued and you learned how to say “I’m fine”. You became a girl who kept being put last and you naturally reacted with “It’s whatever”. You became a girl who kept being taken for granted and you dealt with it by repeating “Everything’s okay”.

You became a girl who kept being unhappy and you regularly told people “I’m gonna be fine”. And if you’re reading this right now, then you need to understand that no guy is worth losing yourself for, no guy is worth suffering for at the expense of your happiness, and no guy is worth tormenting yourself over for the sake of making him happy.

At this point, perhaps losing him is the only way you’d be able to get yourself back because as much as you wouldn’t want this to be true, he’s the only thing that’s in your way of finding yourself and he’s the only reason you’ve lost yourself for so long.
