  • Ghost Sitting With My Babies

Y’all. This is the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I was getting ready to go out. That means fixing my hair and makeup and finding an outfit.

That’s hard to do when you’ve got two toddlers and a baby by yourself. Since their new obsession is The Lion King, I decided to put the movie on so they’d sit and watch it so I could get ready. They were sitting quietly on the couch.

Jayce was in his chair beside them. I turned the camera on them and was watching them from the iPad upstairs. Every so often I would glance down and every time they were sitting in the same spot watching the movie. But this time I looked down and saw someone (an adult) sitting on my couch looking at the baby and the babies just watching their movie like it was no big deal.

My heart dropped. I ran downstairs and turned the corner to the living room and no one was on the couch. I JUST saw them ten seconds before. The babies were still sitting there in the same exact spots watching their movie. This person was on my camera but not actually there? Naturally I assumed it was a ghost and I caught it on my camera! I ran back upstairs to see if I could see this ghost again. I looked at my iPad and they were sitting on my couch still! I called my mom to show her this ghost on my iPad. As I was getting ready to show her, I looked down and lost it. Somehow my iPad went from the camera’s live view to a clip that was recorded earlier. It was me. I was the ghost on the couch. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Why Is The World Full Of Snowflakes

    “It snowed last night…

    8:00 am: I made a snowman.

8:10 – A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn’t make a snow woman.

    8:15 – So, I made a snow woman.

8:17 – My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman’s voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere.

8:20 – The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snow men instead.

8:22 – The transgender man..women…person asked why I didn’t just make one snow person with detachable parts.

8:25 – The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and not to decorate snow figures with.

8:28 – I was being called a racist because the snow couple is white.

8:31 – The middle eastern gent across the road demanded the snow woman be covered up .

8:40 – The Police arrived saying someone had been offended.

8:42 – The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.

8:43 – The council equality officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.

8:45 – TV news crew from ABC showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women? I replied “Snowballs” and am now called a sexist.

9:00 – I was on the News as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.

9:10 – I was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services.

9:29 – Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding for me to be arrested.

    By noon it all melted

    Moral:

There is no moral to this story. It is what we have become, all because of snowflakes.”

  • The Differences Between A Mummy And A Daddy Lie In

Mummy and Daddy take it in turns to have a lie in at the weekends. They are each allocated one day to have an extra couple of hours in bed.

Mummy has noticed there are a few small differences between her morning lie in routine and Daddy’s.

    Daddy’s routine.

    1. Daddy does not have regular visits in bed where he is poked and stared at to check if he is yet awake.

    2. Daddy does not give up on his lie in around 6am and get up.

    3. Daddy comes straight downstairs after his leisurely 2 hours extra In bed and straight away makes himself a coffee and toast.

    4. Daddy goes straight back upstairs after toast and coffee for a 45 minute toilet break.

    5. Daddy returns and sits engrossed in children’s programmes.

    Mummy’s routine.

    1. Mummy is visited in bed 10 minutes into her lie in, she is poked, stared at, and alerted by the word FINISHED!!!! When she is needed in the bathroom instantly.

    2. Mummy gives up 30 minutes into her designated lie in and gets up.

    3. Mummy arrives downstairs at what only can be described as a disaster zone.

    4. Mummy sees Daddy lying on the sofa in the foetal position, looking like he is suffering with post traumatic stress.

    5. Mummy tidies up the twenty thousand toys on the floor whilst daddy goes for a 45 minute toilet break.

    6. Mummy feeds the children a ‘proper’ breakfast that doesn’t consist of Dairylea singles and digestive biscuits. Daddy says Isla didn’t want cereal, she wanted cheese.

    7. Mummy picks up Daddy’s dirty breakfast pots from the floor in the living room and bangs them down on the side in the kitchen to let Daddy know he is a scruffy cock womble.

    8. Mummy is informed the children have been awfully hard work in the 30 minute time span Daddy has had to look after them.

    9. Mummy is given a list of all of the things both children did that were challenging in the 30 minutes Mummy was ‘resting’.

    10. Mummy orders Daddy a large medal off of eBay as she fills the washing machine then changes the baby’s bum.

    11. Mummy washes the pots that are invisible to Daddy as he stands watching next to her, hiding from the children in the living room.

    12. Mummy asks Daddy why his dirty clothes are in the middle of the living room floor. Daddy says he took them off there last night. Mummy is getting cross. Daddy missed the subtle hint that he should pick his dirty clothes up off of the bastarding floor immediately.

    13. Mummy finally gets around to having some toast an hour and a half after she has arrived downstairs. Daddy tells Mummy he is too feeling a little peckish, Mummy thinks it must have been hard for him only managing to eat a bowl of cereal, half a pack of biscuits and 2 slices of toast whilst the children ran him ragged for a whole 30 minutes. Daddy stands right where mummy needs to be stood to butter her toast… still avoiding the children.

    14. Daddy sits watching the children’s programmes on TV whilst the little one empties a full packet of baby wipes onto the carpet and the biggest hounds Mummy in the kitchen to get the play dough out.

    15. Daddy asks Mummy why she is a bit grumpy. Mummy says she just can’t fucking think why she would possibly be feeling grumpy on her designated lie in day.

  • Please, Please, Please, Don’t Drink And Drive

This photograph shows me with my beautiful children ~ Matthew 12, Lucy 10 and their little brother Peter 2. My world, my joy, my life.

The photograph was taken from a film that was found in Matthew’s camera after he died. I don’t remember it being taken, but I have calculated it to be about 2 weeks before Matthew and Lucy were killed by a drunk driver in a road traffic accident.

They went to a football match with their dad one Summer evening in July 1996, and never came home. The drunk driver hit the car they were in head-on. Matthew died instantly, and Lucy 3 hours later in surgery. Their friend Ben, died 6 days later in hospital. Their father was horribly injured but survived the accident… well, physically anyway, as memories never die. The drunk driver was pronounced dead at the scene. My mum always said that he got away lightly.

In the few seconds that it took to veer off his side of the road, that drunk driver smashed our world into tiny pieces.

Little brother Peter’s grief and confusion regarding his siblings ‘disappearance’ was immense. You can only tell a 2 year old the very basics, but the fact that he stopped talking for weeks, and carried around for months a little car that Matthew had given him that day, often watching and waiting at the window, told of his pain.

The next time I saw my dear, beautiful children was in 2 coffins side by side in the Chapel of Rest. The shock took away my ability to stand. How we managed to get through the funeral I will never know, but the many friends, family and schoolchildren that attended helped to give us strength.

The inquest 5 months later told of a wealthy, upstanding Plymouth businessman, who was generous towards charities with his time and money, but who had a longstanding penchant for drinking and driving, ignoring all warnings regarding the danger he was causing. He was 3.5 times over the drink driving limit when he got in his car. If only someone had taken his keys away that night….

Life became very quiet, all the energy was sucked out of the house where once my children had laughed and lived. I held tight to my sanity only for my little boy, and we grieved together, and in our own way. It took Peter years to put together the pieces of the puzzle ~ as his intellect grew, so did his curiosity for the facts. He was 15 when he read all the newspaper articles about the accident and finally found his peace.

It is a mistake to think that you can never be happy again ~ you can but in a different way, in a different world. I gave birth to baby Eliza 14 months after we lost Matthew and Lucy, and she brought joy and hope into our bleak world again.

I laugh and cry, and experience life and have watched my children grow into wonderful, confident adults, and I glow with pride and wonder at how blessed I am.

But Matthew and Lucy remain in our lives, in our thoughts and our hearts. Always loved, never forgotten.

Today would have been Lucy’s 34th birthday, and she will be remembered with such pride. Through the tears that will inevitably flow, I will smile at her memories and tell her how much she is loved. It is all I can do.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. Please do not put another family through this grief. Please do not be the cause of a lifetime of sorrow.

AND DON’T BE STUPID ENOUGH TO THINK IT WON’T HAPPEN TO YOU. It happened to us. It happened to my beautiful children. It can happen to anyone.

Designate a driver, take a taxi, walk to the party.

Thank you for reading my post. Please share and help to save some lives, if only 1 or 2 people make a different choice, it will all be worth it.

And have a blessed and safe Christmas❤️

  • Mama Go Out And Have Some Fun

I used to be the wild girl, could have four or five drinks and be dancing like no ones watching. My feet would have been overworked so much that I’d stop feeling the pain. I had confidence to talk to anyone, had more energy then anyone should. I was thin. I could go into any shop, picked what I liked and walk out without trying it on. I didn’t worry about later, or tomorrow. I had late nights and slept through mornings.

    Then I had kids !! …

Alcohol means hangovers and there is no time for them. Sleep is so precious. I’m way too tired to dance, I wear practical shoes. My idea of a good night is watching Netflix in my jammies. I have early nights and wake up before morning. My heart is more full than it’s ever been… BUT…

It all kinda makes me feel invisible. I am invisible. And that can hurt. There are still parts of the old me that I miss. It’s like this – you are born alone, you spend years developing who you are, becoming an independent woman… and then suddenly you become, someone’s mum, someone’s partner, someone who is too exhausted to enjoy life.

That’s why mums need breaks. That’s why when things get too much you need and you needn’t feel guilty for having the time to retreat from that life and become you again. When your life becomes beautiful and loved up but also relentless, you deserve to be you again. In any way that is. Exercise, partying, prosecco with the girls. Any way you won’t feel invisible anymore.

There is no such thing as “now I’m a mum I can’t do those things” it’s even more reason to do them! Don’t lose your spark. She’s still in there. You’ll come back… you’ll be the old you again… but in sensible shoes 💖

  • Yes I Have Two Kids And I Smoke Weed Daily

Yes, I have two kids. Yes, I smoke weed daily.

It’s so funny to my how frowned upon marijuana is. No one looks twice when a mom says she enjoys “mom juice” aka wine, after her kids are in bed. But when a mom says she smokes weed, it’s a huge shock.

I talk about this to bring awareness. I feel as not enough people talk about this. Marijuana has helped me so much, especially when it comes to being a mom.

I have never been the most patient with my two kids. Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good night sleep after I smoke. I wake up well rested, and with a more clear mind.

It’s okay to smoke weed after your kids go to bed.

It’s okay to smoke it to help with anxiety. Mine has been SO much better since I started smoking.

It’s okay to smoke it to gain weight. I’ve always been dangerously underweight. Now, I am at the healthiest weight I have ever been in my life.

It’s okay to smoke it, to help you get off medication. I was able to completely stop my anti depressants because smoking helped me so much.

It’s okay to smoke instead of drink. I used to have a problem with drinking, and my behaviour that came along with that. Weed has helped me to stop drinking so much, and to be honest, I much prefer smoking over drinking.

Marijuana is my glass of wine.

    It’s my can of beer.

    It’s my relaxation time.

You can still be a kick ass mom, and smoke weed.

  • The Sigh Of Relief When No Judgement Is Given

To the mum i walked past on my way to collect my little girl from preschool. Your child was kicking off quite literally, kicking – punching – and slapping you around the face. I saw your face when our eyes locked.

I saw how you were keeping your upset in when all you wanted to do was shout as each blow hit you. I saw how you deep down felt like I thought how unruly your boy was being. The sigh of relief of no judgement spread across your face when i told you – you’re doing amazing it may not seem like it but you are!

I think as mums & dads we forget how amazing we truly are. We put up with so much crap sometimes, always putting these small beings before us that we forget that we are human and we are all just trying to do the best we can day to day! Some days are better than others. But we get through everyday because we are super! We are awesome and we shouldn’t ever forget that!

So if you’re having a day like the woman i saw today just know you’re awesome and it won’t last forever. You’ve got this 💪🏼

  • Parents Beware Of This New App

Parents….I discovered tonight that my 11 year old has been posting videos of herself on an app called Likee, which is basically the same as tik tok, after her dad and I both told her no to tik tok because it wasn’t safe. After discovering this and seeing the messages she’s been receiving from users like “Ivan” who has no posts of his own, no identifying profile pic, but THOUSANDS of likes on videos of little girls, many barely dressed and some looking very grown and suggestive, as well as the types of videos these babies are uploading for predators to view, complete with location tags, and even a “nearby” tab to see videos posted near your own location.

I can’t say this enough…CHECK YOUR CHILD’S PHONE!!! Tik tok is huge, and a ton of kids are using it, not just adults. Are you watching? She did this after having her phone monitored closely since she got it and only recently had been deemed trustworthy enough to have the check-ups less frequently.

Now she’s afraid to go to school because she understands that she gave the world a roadmap and invitation to find her. I won’t post the video she uploaded, but to sum it up, the song she was dancing and seducing the camera to, for lack of a better way to put it, was very suggestive and loaded with innuendos…not even what an 11 year old should be listening to, let alone understanding.

Her father and I are livid, but even more I’m terrified for these children who are unwittingly placing targets on their backs. So please, for the love of God, invade their privacy, and do it regularly! Check every app, go through them thoroughly, look through their pictures, read their messages….because you never know. Please share this as well, get the word out, because you can have all the conversations in the world about being safe and staying offline, but they want to be cool like their friends, and they think we know nothing, so don’t be so naive to think “my child wouldn’t….” BECAUSE YOU JUST DON’T KNOW!

  • Beautiful Poem After The Lose Of A Loved One

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep.

I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep.

I spoke to you softly as you brushed away a tear,

    “It’s me, I haven’t left you, I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,

You were thinking of the many things and memories of me.

I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.

I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.

I want to re-assure you, that I’m not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.

I gently put my hand on you; I smiled and said, “it’s me.”

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.

I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It’s possible for me, to be so near you everyday.

To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew…

in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over… I smile and watch you yawning

and say “good-night, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,

I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out…then come home to me.
