  • The Toy That Is Hurting Children And Stressing Out Parents

Well Christmas has been and gone and children are finally getting a chance to spend quality time playing.

Some of the presents have already broken, some are yet to be opened but one toy is causing multiple parents nothing but pain and misery and even hurting children.

How could a seemingly innocent toy do this? Well it’s not the endless annoying sounds of a child’s toy, or the messy playdoh staining carpets or a nerf gun or even treding n the dreaded lego.

It’s the seemingly innocent looking bunchems.

Bunchems are a building toy, Squish, Connect and Create with Bunchems! The colourful little balls that stick to each other and build like no other that’s what the advertisements say.

    But what are they really?

They are evil little hair destroyers, they stick in pets hair, and little boys and girls hair.

Mums advice spoke with a Colchester hair dresser and she said she has seen 3 distraught parents with Bunchems stuck in their child’s hair.

Parents are asking for a warning to be placed on the box and warning others to ensure their child’s hair is tied back or to accidentally throw them away when their child isn’t looking.

One mum even had their child bleeding due to bunchems, her daughter had snuck them out of the play cupboard whilst her mum was on the phone.

The little girl had then got them stuck in her hair and was scared to tell her mum and get in trouble and tried to pull them out herself, she pulled so hard she made her head bleed.

Luckily no serious damage was done and the little girl didn’t get Into trouble just advised not to hide things like this and to let a grown up know.

Do you have bunchems? Have you had a problem with them?

  • If you ever see a parent with a little one having a melt down, please don’t judge!

As a parent you are met with judgements from everywhere, which also includes other parents. I say this, knowing that I am also a guilty party…I judge when I shouldn’t.

The judgements we face is the lack of pushing we do for one of children. Our little man with autism. You are often met with comments such as if he was hungry he would eat. For most children this is true, but not for a child with sensory aversions and also autism which comes with a lot of sensory issues.

For my little man he can only eat foods that he can fully chew or of a smooth consistency. There is no in between. This even cuts out something as simple as beans on toast. Whilst colours of foods appears to him he can’t stand to touch them let alone put them in his mouth. We can work around this by making him smooth soups…and even resorting to blended up baby food.

The aversions to what goes in his mouth also means that my little man can not take medication.

There are issues with sounds as well, we go around places and be unaware of certain sounds….some we are even completely oblivious to. For example a fan in a bathroom? How many of you would pay attention to this?? This simple noise kept my son awake rocking away with his fingers in his ears. We eventually found out what is was and sorted it. The low hum sound can come from many things, so we are always aware that all places can have this.

Simple things such as the light in a place can trigger a melt down.

Today we tackled something for Oscar, a hair cut which was completed! For a hair cut he is sensitive with the noise, the feel and also the feeling of loss as his hair is going. This has often resorted to melt downs which cause nose bleeds and vomiting. We are so overly proud.

If you ever see a parent with a little one having a melt down, please don’t judge! Think about what could have caused the melt down and realise environmental factors can trigger these. Sensory problems are huge for many children, not just those on the spectrum. Please don’t assume a child friendly place is suitable for those with sensory requires as really, not many are.

For us tackling something we plan, plan and plan. This still can lead to issues but together as a family we tackle this. We try new things, make Oscar aware of different lights, sounds and feel. We try taste but can’t often get there. But each day is a new day, we will conquer the world as he needs. Sensory aversions kick butt but we can kick butt more so.

Pictures to show how well he did.

  • You Should NEVER Say This to a Pregnant Woman!

Pregnancy is a magical experience, bringing new life into the world is truly a gift.

However, pregnant women are generally an emotional bag of crazy and should not be messed with!

These are 10 things you should NEVER say to pregnant women unless you are prepared for a tongue lashing!

    1. Are you sure you’re not having twins?

Seriously! We know we look enormous and this is in no way a subtle reminder!

    2. You look like you’re really done.

Why not say what you really mean… “You look like shit!” Thanks mate, already know and frankly don’t need to be told!

    3. You are HUGE!

See point number 1! It is NEVER ok to call a women fat and let’s face it that’s what it feels like we are being called!

    4. You look farther along than five/six/seven/eight months. I’m sure you’ll go early.

What do you expect from this? “Oh no really? I guess the doctors and midwives got it wrong. Thank goodness you’ve helped so much!” No. Don’t say it.

    5. You’re carrying really low/high/wide etc…

You wouldn’t comment on how a non pregnant persons weight is being carried so don’t comment on ours and expect a pleasant response!

    6. I’m sure it’s a boy/girl.

Just don’t. Really don’t. If we wanted to know the gender we’d find out at a scan. If we didn’t we wouldn’t. We don’t need every nosey Nelly telling us what they think when, let’s face it, everyone has 50% chance of being right!

    7. You look like you’re ready to pop!

And we feel it too. But babies come when they are ready, so no need to remind me mine isn’t yet!

    8. I hope you can get your figure back.

    *deep inhale*

    9. I had the worst labour ever. Never want to do what again.

Thanks for the support! Just what we needed, a helpful reminder of the hellish pain we’ll soon be going through.

    10. Better sleep now while you can!

Are you for real? You think sleeping while pregnant is easy or fun? We need to pee every 20 minutes, the baby seems to be having a kickboxing lesson and the heartburn wants to drown us as soon as we lay down. So yeah we’ll sleep when we can. Thanks for the tip!

What are some of the things you hated people saying to you while you were pregnant?

  • If Your Child Constantly Has Nits It Is Neglect

If your child constantly has nits it is neglect.

If your child constantly has nits it is neglect at least this is what one mother is saying.

Jessica Stone 27 from West Yorkshire has taken to social media to plea with other parents to treat their children’s hair or be classed as a neglectful parent.

Stone said “Millie has been at school since September and caught nits 17 times yep you heard that right 17 bloody times, I use tea tree shampoo and conditioner, squirt vosene kids nit defence spray in her hair and tie it back and plait it, I check her  hair every night and treat it whenever necessary and sometimes even when im not quite sure if she has any.

However there is a little girl in her class whose hair is crawling with nits the school just sends out letters to everyone and this child is freely allowed to infest the rest of her class, the parents must know and choose to ignore it.

This little girl is only 5 so it’s down to her parents to treat her, they are deliberately neglecting her, in my eyes it’s a form of abuse, if they can’t care for her and treat her nits they shouldn’t have her”.

Many people commented agreeing with her and said there is no excuse not to treat a nit infested head whilst others said that combating nits is a losing battle and maybe the mum is doing her best or struggling to deal with it or maybe just doesn’t know how to rid her child of nits.

Stone added a comment  “if the parents can’t afford to treat her hair regularly then they should just shave it all off, or maybe stop smoking and buy the girl nit stuff instead”.

What’s your view is having regular nits a form of neglect?

  • Single Parents Are The Hardest To Love

Single Parents Are The Hardest To Love

There’s no hiding that there’s a stigma attached to single mums; they’re damaged goods, carry baggage, blah blah.

Like, what? This is 2017, guys.

It gets a little frustrating when you’re mid conversation and you mention your children to just be ignored or pushed to the back of the queue for ‘desperate’ times.

As if women didn’t get enough stick for jumping to conclusions, men assume we need a father figure for our child, someone to breadwin and provide and to be taken under their wing.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No. We don’t.

We’ve taken rejection, we’ve had to stay strong even when we wanted to fall apart, we have to put someone before us every single day with no questions asked, we’ve had to manage money when times are tough and we’re experts at organising.

You see, we don’t need you. We want you.

There is a very big difference.

Living without a man is easier than living with one, I can assure you – one less person to tidy up after, ten less garments of clothing to wash, one less battle you have about who uses the bathroom the longest in the mornings, you get the jist.

That said, we’re still human; we love harder than anybody and we put up a good fight for the people we love and who are closest to us, but the longer we’re single, the harder we are to be loved.

When you’re so used to neglecting yourself for others and putting yourself last, you find it hard to make room for anybody else.

So let’s get this clear – we choose you to be a part of our lives, you don’t choose us.

  • Being A Vegetarian Ruined My Childhood

So my parents always did what THEY thought was right, but being a vegetarian ruin my childhood.

Now you may think ruined is a bit extreme but I genuinely feel it did, let me explain why.

School was a nightmare whilst my friends all had tasty delights in their packed lunches or got to eat shepherd pie or lasagna from the school canteen, I was left with chick peas, a vegetarian cold pasta dish and fruit.

Now okay that’s not completely terrible some of the meals were very tasty but as a child when friends had birthdays and brought in cakes or sweets the teacher would always have to check if I could have it, this caused me great embarrasment.

Soon my friends began noticing how different I was, going to a friends party and having to bring my own food I soon got nicknamed “Carrot”, “Rabbit” and “freak”.

I stopped being invited to parties, my mum was always so vocal about me being a vegetarian and soon other parents didn’t want the responsibility of monitoring me and making sure I wasn’t sneaking sausage rolls and pizza slices.

I craved to be normal, I wanted to eat the food my friends ate, I didn’t want to read labels, I didn’t want to be different.

I pleaded with my parents to allow me to eat normally but their beliefs were too strong.

I found myself craving meat, and would often steal from my classmates lunch boxes, even go so far as steal from my local village store.

My whole existence was thinking about how I could get more of the tasty delights which were forbidden, and how I could escape my family and life.

By the time I was a teenager I was seriously depressed, self harming and my education was failing.

At age 16 I hadn’t passed a single Gsce, I had no friends and no life, I left my parents home and slept on the streets.

Homeless but happy, I found myself on them cold dark streets, I vowed to be a better me.

A charity called Shelter (http://www.shelter.org.uk/ ) helped me get a bed sit, I found work and eventually found love.

Fifteen years later I am the proud father of two, I let them make their own life choices and have never been happier.

I rekindled my relationship with my parents for the sake of my children but I cannot forgive them for pushing their beliefs on me, so yes being a vegetarian ruined my childhood.

  • Ed Westwick Fired Over Sexual Assault Allegations

Ed Westwick has been fired from the BBC’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Ordeal By Innocence.

The BBC made this decision after sexual assault allegations were made against Westwick.

The TV drama had already been filmed, however Westwicks role will now be played by Christian Cooke – who is believed to be filming the new footage this month.

In November, Westwick outright denied allegations of rape, which had been made by two different women.

Ordeal By Innocence was originally meant to air on BBC during the Christmas season.

White Gold, another series starring Westwick, has had filming paused.

Westwick had this to say about the accusations he is facing of sexual assault:

  • Raped Whilst I Was Having a Epileptic Fit

In June 2016 I went travelling for three months in europe prior to beginning my year abroad studies in Spain. Whilst travelling in Hungary I met a guy who was also travelling and he was from the Netherlands, we became friends, he asked for more but I said no and that was fine.

After I moved to Spain and settled in he asked to come visit me for a few days because he would be travelling in Barcelona which was not far from where I was living. I said yes, I enjoyed his company so I saw no problem in it.

One morning I found that whilst I had slept he took money from my purse and the keys to my flat and left, when I called him he came back quickly with coffees and said he only took the money for coffee and took my keys so not to disturb me that I wouldn’t have to let him back in. Needless to say I was annoyed but I had classes to go to, so I got ready and we both went about our days separately.

After my classes finished I was still annoyed and didn’t want to meet him right away so instead I went for a run. When I returned to my flat after the run I was talking to my flat mates and I suffered an epileptic fit (this is normal for me).

My flat mates were aware of my condition and after the seizure stopped they helped me to bed. They waited with me whilst I was still fairly incoherent but whilst this was happening, the friend who was staying with me knocked on the flat door and my flat mates who were not aware of our earlier falling out, let him in to the flat and then into my room. Whilst they were all there I suffered another seizure (again multiple seizures are normal for me), but whilst it happened this guy told my flat mates to leave and that he would take care of me.

Thinking nothing sinister in it, they left him to it.

Next when I began to gain consciousness I can feel his naked body pressed against mine from behind, his hands all over me, kissing my neck and he had slightly undressed me. In my pod sizars state I was confused, scared and very weak, I could do nothing but lay there as he did all he wanted to me and wait until he was finished with me.

After he finished he got dressed and left the room. Once I composed myself following the effects of the seizure and the shock of what he did I went to the kitchen where he was sat talking happily with my flat mates. Of course I immediately asked him to leave and I made my flat mates know not to let him back in again although I did not tell them why. But before he left, he managed to steal my handbag which contained all my money and my passport.

I returned home to the UK so I could get a new passport and whilst there I had to tell my mother and father what happened. I then reported it to the police and they have reported it the inter-poll but I have not pushed it any further.

I am ashamed to say that I have yet to tell anyone else and this is why I do my want to push it forward legally. I am scared and still so long after it happened it haunts me constantly. I am still not ready for anyone else to know but after my mother died six months ago I now feel very alone with it. My father is so very very supportive of me but following the sudden death of my mother, his wife, he is so fragile also and he does upset him greatly what happened to me and I feel guilty to burden him further.

I know my story is long and complex, I hope it does not cause upset that I have written in such detail but truthfully I wanted to share my story in a way that is anonymous and get it off my chest.
