Mark Wright has admitted he ‘can’t wait’ to become a father as wife Michelle Keegan nears her due date.

The former TOWIE star, 38, and actress, 37, announced their pregnancy in December via Instagram, sharing a beach photo with Michelle cradling her baby bump.

In a rare chat about his family life, Mark expressed his excitement as he enters a new chapter with Michelle.

He told The Sun: ‘I’m just excited for the whole process. I’m just really excited and can’t wait for it to happen. A parent shapes you.

‘My dad is everything you’d dream [of] in a dad. He’s always put us first, no matter what, whether that was financially or in terms of love and care.

‘We’ve always felt so loved and that’s one of the most important things for any parent – to make your child feel loved and to [let] them know [you’re] there.’

Appearing on The One Show last week, Mark was promoting his new BBC DIY series Clean It, Fix It alongside co-host Tommy Walsh when he was congratulated by presenters Lauren Laverne and Roman Kemp.

Acknowledging the milestone, Mark said: ‘Very exciting times ahead. Little bit nerve-wracking, but I’m ready, I’m excited.’

Asked if he would be decorating the nursery himself, he joked: ‘I’ll let you guys do it.’

Their caption read: ‘2025 is going to be a special one for us…✨.’

Heart Radio host Mark, who rose to fame on ITVBe series TOWIE, is already an uncle to footballer brother Josh’s two children as well as sister Jess’s son and has spoken over the years about wanting to become a father himself one day.

Their baby news comes after their Essex mansion was targeted by masked intruders.

The couple reportedly locked themselves in their bedroom as their porch window was smashed.

Essex Police confirmed suspects broke into the property before fleeing, with authorities arriving within eight minutes.

According to The Sun, police were alerted via their ‘state-of-the-art security system and arrived at the couple’s Essex mansion within minutes’.

The gang of raiders were reportedly ‘wearing balaclavas and dressed in black fled the scene empty-handed in a getaway car’.

A source told the publication: ‘It was a traumatic experience for both of them but they are relieved that neither of them were injured.

‘Mark did the sensible thing and stayed with his wife to make sure she was OK and they waited for police to arrive before leaving the room.

‘It was a horrible thing to go through, particularly for someone who is heavily pregnant. They are understandably very shaken up by what happened.’

Detectives reportedly believe the gang were professionals ‘looking for a big score’ on the countryside property’s extensive grounds.

A camera allegedly detected the gang arriving to the house and sent alerts to Mark and Michelle’s phone.

The source added: ‘Mark realised someone was breaking into the house, his first thoughts were for Michelle’s protection and he acted swiftly.’

  • Elon Musk’s mother Maye and son X get free ride back to DC with Trump on Air Force One

Elon Musk’s mother Maye and son X get free ride back to DC with Trump on Air Force One

    [ad_1]

President Donald Trump returned from his Palm Beach, Florida Mar-a-Lago club to the White House on Sunday evening with a few unexpected extra guests.

Billionaire Elon Musk, now a special advisor to the president was spotted boarding Marine One with his mother Maye, and his son X Æ A-12.

Prior to takeoff, Musk’s mother was spotted by press through the windows engaged in an animated conversation with her son and grandson as she awaited the helicopter takeoff.

Melania Trump‘s father Viktor Knavs also traveled with the president on the trip back to the White House.

Knavs exited Marine One with President Trump after it landed at the White House, and walked in with the president together as reporters shouted unanswered questions.

Musk followed, putting his son on his shoulders and waved to the cameras as his mother walked beside him and also waved to the press.

Musk’s critics immediately complained on social media about his mother getting a ‘free ride’ on Air Force One, paid by taxpayers.

‘This is beyond outrageous,’ complained a Democratic political strategist on X. ‘Elon Musk, his cranky mother Maye, and one of his young kids were chauffeured in Air Force One and Marine One—straight to the White House, where they’re apparently staying.’

The White House did not respond to a DailyMail.com request for comment.

It is normal for a president to bring extra guests on Air Force One and Marine One, particularly extended family members.

President Biden routinely brought extended family members of his family on Air Force One and Marine One, including his son Hunter and his wife and family, grandchildren and spouses, and even nephews and nieces.

But Musk’s mother’s appearance on the flight appeared an extraordinary privilege for a presidential adviser.

Maye Musk commented about her visit to Mar-a-Lago on X, sharing a video of her son and Trump surprising guests at the club over the weekend.

‘It was wonderful to experience the excitement and happiness in the room,’ she wrote with heart-eyes emojis.

It’s unclear exactly why she traveled with her son to the White House, but it might coincide with the president’s address to Congress scheduled for Tuesday.

As Musk is likely to attend the speech, he may bring his mother as a guest.

Since the election, Maye Musk’s profile has never been so prominent as her son remains a very influential advisor to Trump.

She has been spotted at several social events at Mar-a-Lago and frequently travels to China, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates for business.

Maye Musk has also made several business trips to China where she has endorsed five different Chinese brands, according to the New York Times.

Last month, she appeared on the catwalk to promote the Chinese label Juzui’s at the New York Fashion Week show and had lunch with Ivanka Trump and Wendi Deng, the former wife of Rupert Murdoch.

She said she had also shifted to the Republican party in the 2024 election, urging other Democrats to follow her.

‘It’s a gradual change when you are Democrat to become Republican, it’s really hard and I would encourage Democrats to take a chance and they will be happier,’ she said.

Maye Musk said she was a big fan of the Trump family and spoke warmly of the time they had spent together.

‘Everyone is delightful, kind, sweet, generous and interesting and soft spoken,’ she said.

  • 95% of parents receive first choice of secondary school

95% of parents receive first choice of secondary school

    [ad_1]

This National Offer Day (3 March), Cheshire East Council has informed thousands of parents and carers about their children’s secondary school places.

This year 95% will receive an offer from their first preference school, with 98 per cent receiving an offer from one of their top three preferences.

Over 4,200 applications were submitted by parents and carers for children transitioning to secondary school in September 2025.

Councillor Carol Bulman, chair of Cheshire East Council’s children and families committee, said:

“Moving up to secondary school is a monumental milestone for children and their families. Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly with schools to accommodate parental preferences, and I am delighted that the vast majority of children will be attending one of their preferred schools this September. I wish all pupils every success in their final year of primary school and as they prepare for this exciting new chapter.”

Cheshire East Council, like all councils, has a statutory duty to ensure sufficient school places for local children and young people. The council adheres to the government’s School Admissions Code, ensuring that all school places for maintained schools and academies are allocated and offered fairly and transparently.

The council has advised that when parents and carers receive their offer, they have several options:

    • Accept the school place – Deadline: 17 March
    • Join waiting lists – If a preferred school place was not offered, parents can request to be added to one or more waiting lists by 17 March.
    • Appeal the decision – If dissatisfied with the offer, parents can appeal before the 31 March deadline.

Parents are encouraged to accept their child’s offer even if they prefer a different school until alternative arrangements are confirmed. Additionally, parents should apply for home-to-school travel assistance before the end of April to ensure travel arrangements and passes are in place by the start of the new academic year.

Parents of pupils with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) will receive separate confirmation of their child’s place, as they follow a slightly different timetable.

Goldie Hawn regrets ‘revealing’ shocking health condition while presenting on stage at 2025 Oscars

    [ad_1]

Goldie Hawn left viewers of the 2025 Academy Awards stunned after she gave a heartbreaking health update on stage.

The 79-year-old Oscar winner — who presenting with Andrew Garfield — stopped part of the way through her scripted presentation speech because she was unable to read what was projected on the teleprompter.

‘I was so lucky [to] make movies… and making people laugh,’ Goldie said. ‘And maybe some didn’t, but that’s OK.’

‘In the meantime,’ she continued, before suddenly pausing and turning to Garfield.

‘OK. Sweetheart, can you read that. I can’t read that,’ she said, going off script.

‘I’m completely blind. I mean, I am!’ she continued, before revealing the cause of her vision issues: ‘Cataracts.’

Garfield played it cool, responding, ‘OK, I’ve got you.’

However, after the overwhelming response to her comments, Goldie was concerned her ‘joke’ overshadowed her appearance as a presenter on stage.

‘Goldie is embarrassed that the focus of her Oscar night was her vision issues, it is not something she wanted everyone talking about. She was just trying to be funny.’

Cataracts develop when the usually clear lens of the eye begins to develop a cloudy texture, which can make it feels as if one is viewing things through a fog.

The condition can impact any activity requiring sight, but it can make things like reading or driving — particularly at night — difficult.

Cataracts often aren’t noticed for some time, as the condition tends to develop slowly.

However, the good news for affected individuals is that surgery to remove cataracts is usually safe and effective, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Before Goldie’s admission, Andrew was responsible for one of the most touching moments of the night

The two-time Oscar nominee, 41, was joined by Goldie as they presented the award for Best Animated Feature Film.

But Andrew took her by surprise when he brought her to tears as he revealed her surprise impact on his late mother.

Goldie was visibly moved by the seemingly impromptu speech and started to cry, before she partially covered her face with the winner’s envelope and tried to wipe her eyes.

Andrew, who looked stylish in a brown tux with a lustrous satin shirt, turned toward Goldie at the microphone and held her hand between his as he shared his sweet praise.

‘Can I tell you something?’ Andrew asked mysteriously as soon as he and Goldie were ready to start their presentation.

‘There’s someone, there’s a person who gave my mother during her life the most joy, the most comfort, and tonight, I feel very lucky, because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart,’ he said before revealing that the person was standing right next to him.

‘You’ve given us movies full of joy. You’ve lifted our spirits and you’ve made us feel it all was right with the world, over and over again,’ he said while holding Goldie’s hand.

Goldie, whose face crumpled up as she tried to hold back her tears, responded: ‘Thank you so much, that really touches me.’

‘I was so lucky [to] make movies… and making people laugh,’ she continued in what seemed to be the start of her preplanned speech. ‘And maybe some didn’t, but that’s OK.’

Andrew, whose latest film We Live In Time was released in October in the US and on New Year’s Day in the UK, spoke about his mother last year during the film’s publicity campaign.

In the film, Florence Pugh plays his love interest who battles Ovarian cancer, and the storyline prompted comparisons to Andrew’s mother Lynn’s own battle with cancer before her death.

While speaking with the Hollywood Reporter last year, Andrew said that filming We Live In Time had helped him to heal from the loss of his beloved mother.

‘Every species of every living thing on this earth has lost a mother. Young dinosaurs were losing their mothers,’ he said, adding that his experience wasn’t ‘special.’

‘We’re lucky if it’s that way around, rather than the other. And of course, countless parents lose their children in one way or another too, I can’t even imagine what that must feel like,’ he continued.

‘So in terms of my own personal experience, yeah, it felt like a very simple act of healing for myself, and hopefully healing for an audience.’

Andrew and Goldie’s special moment at the 97th Academy Awards comes as the ceremony honors the best films of 2024

The star-studded ceremony is being held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with Conan O’Brien, 61, making his debut as Oscars host, after joking: ‘I only agreed to host so that I could get invited.’

This year’s ceremony has an unusually unsettled field in many of the most high-profile categories, including best picture and most of the acting categories.

Emilia Pérez leads the nominations this year with 13, including for best picture, actress (for Karla Sofía Gascón), supporting actress (for Zoe Saldaña), director (for Jacques Audiard), adapted screenplay and original song.

Gascón stars as the title character, a former Mexican drug lord who comes out as a transgender woman and fakes her own death in order to reinvent herself as a pro-social force, while Saldaña plays an ethically challenged lawyer who helps set up her new identity.

The Brutalist landed in second place with 10 nominations, including for best picture, director (for Brady Corbet), actor (for Adrien Brody), supporting actor (for Guy Pearce), supporting actress (for Felicity Jones), and original screenplay.

Brody stars as a Jewish Hungarian architect who immigrates to the US after surviving the Holocaust. The epic historical drama follows his character László Tóth’s attempts to realize his creative vision even as it conflicts with the petty desires of his wealthy benefactor (Pearce).

Wicked tied it for 10 nominations, including for best picture, actress (for Cynthia Erivo), and supporting actress (for Ariana Grande).

Brody is also a favorite for The Brutalist, but Ralph Fiennes has gotten plenty of awards-season attention for the papal-selection drama Conclave

The closely watched race for best actor in a leading role got a major shakeup just a week before the Oscars at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, when Timothée Chalamet scored a shock win for his Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.

Prior to that win, Brody was seemingly the favorite after winning best actor awards at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Movie Awards.

Ralph Fiennes has also doggedly stayed in the running for his role as a British Cardinal struggling to keep a secretive papal election from dissolving into competition and intrigue.

The critically acclaimed film has scored multiple actor wins at smaller ceremonies and festivals for Fiennes, as well as multiple awards for the entire acting ensemble, which Fiennes has accepted on more than one occasion.

Those three co-frontrunners are competing against Colman Domingo for Sing Sing and Sebastian Stan for his performance as a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice.

The best actress category also has no clear frontrunner. Demi Moore has been lauded for her comeback performance in the satirical body-horror film The Substance, which earned her best actress honors from the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes, as well as several critics’ organizations.

But her win a week before the Oscars at the SAG Awards suggests she may be in a prime spot to snatch the Oscar after being nominated for the first time.

Anora star Mikey Madison, who plays an adult dancer who impetuously marries the son of a Russian Oligarch, was widely acclaimed and was honored by several critics’ organizations early in the season.

Her chances increased significantly after she won the BAFTA for best lead actress, which she followed up with an Independent Spirit Award win in the gender-neutral lead performance category.

Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón was once a favorite for the award, but she was widely criticized after racist and Islamophobic tweets — some quite recent — that had somehow gone unremarked upon were translated into English and reported on.

Since then, Gascón has sat out awards ceremonies after her posts came to light. After multiple half-hearted apologies, Netflix reportedly opted to stop paying for Gascón’s travel and accommodations for awards shows, though a source told People that she still plans to attend the Oscars.

Before the controversy, her nomination was seen as historic, as she is the first openly transgender woman to be nominated in the best actress category.

The other nominees are Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, who has failed to capture any major awards, and the Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres, who stars in the historical drama I’m Still Here. She had her own controversy after a clip of her appearing in blackface in a comedy sketch from a Brazilian TV series 17 years ago resurfaced in January.

In the supporting actress category, the nominees including Monica Barbaro for A Complete Unknown, Ariana Grande for Wicked, Felicity Jones for The Brutalist, Isabella Rossellini for Conclave and Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez

Saldaña appears to be the current favorite after a string of wins at the Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards, SAG Awards and Critics Choice Awards.

But some of those early awards had voting periods that cut off prior to the controversy around Gascón surfacing, which could potentially harm her chances from voters who were turned off of Emilia Pérez altogether.

After Gascón’s offensive tweets surfaced, Emilia Pérez’s best picture frontrunner status seemed in question, and Anora has snatched up the top award at multiple ceremonies considered major predictors of the Oscars

The supporting actor category seems the easiest to predict, Kieran Culkin’s string of wins for A Real Pain making him the favorite.

The other nominees include Yura Borisov for Anora, Edward Norton for A Complete Unknown, Guy Pearce for The Brutalist and Jeremy Strong for The Apprentice.

Among the best picture nominees, Emilia Pérez once seemed like the most likely winner, but Gascon’s offensive posts have threatened its chances.

The Palme d’Or–winning Anora got a late boost with wins for best picture at the Directors Guild of America Awards and the Producers Guild of America Awards, which are considered two of the best predictors of Oscars success by awards-season prognosticators, and its win at the Independent Spirit Awards didn’t hurt.

The best director category seems likely to be a three-man race between Anora’s Sean Baker, The Brutalist director Brady Corbet and Emilia Pérez’s Jacques Audiard.

This year’s original song category features two cutes from Emilia Pérez, El Mal and Mi Camino, the new Elton John song Never Too Late, from the documentary of the same name about him, Like a Bird from Sing Sing, and the latest Diane Warren effort The Journey.

The Academy Awards begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and can be watched on ABC and, for the first time, on a streaming service, Hulu.

Subscribers to premium services including Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV and FuboTV can also also catch the ceremony live.

  • British parents to gain right to bereavement leave after miscarriage | Miscarriage

British parents to gain right to bereavement leave after miscarriage | Miscarriage

    [ad_1]

Parents in Britain will be granted a right to bereavement leave after suffering a miscarriage as part of Labour’s workers’ rights reforms, the Guardian can disclose.

In a change to the law made via the employment rights bill, mothers and their partners will be given the right to two weeks of bereavement leave if they have suffered a pregnancy loss before 24 weeks’ gestation.

The bill, which will implement Labour’s flagship workers’ rights reforms in England, Wales and Scotland, is set to pass its final Commons hurdles next week.

Parents already have a right to bereavement leave in cases where they have lost a child or suffered a stillbirth after 24 weeks of gestation.

The decision to extend this right to couples who suffer a miscarriage before 24 weeks marks a victory for the Labour MP Sarah Owen, who has campaigned for the change. The women and equalities select committee, which Owen chairs, concluded in a report in January that the case for it was “overwhelming”.

Although a growing number of employers already offer the leave as a discretionary extra benefit, the committee said this should become a universal right given the far-reaching physical and emotional impacts of baby loss.

About 250,000 expectant mothers in the UK suffer a miscarriage every year. Between 10% and 20% of pregnancies end in an early miscarriage within 12 weeks of gestation.

Jonathan Reynolds, the business secretary, has spoken of his own family’s experience of pregnancy loss. He told ITV’s Good Morning Britain in January he was “sympathetic” to the campaign, saying: “I know how important it is. Like a lot of people I’ve had some experience of this myself, it’s very, very difficult.”

The bill already gives the right to bereavement leave to parents whose partner has died in childbirth but whose baby survives.

The Guardian understands the government will also strengthen ways for trade unions to access workplaces, according to sources briefed on amendments to the bill.

It will mean a fast-track decision-making route and off-the-shelf access agreements – and tough fines for employers who ignore those regulations. Unions will be given the right to have digital access to employees, such as through work intranets. Unions had hoped this would help them better access gig-economy workers.

Another amendment will ban employers from flooding the bargaining unit which can unfairly influence the recognition ballot process. The trade union GMB had argued that when it made its first application with Amazon, only 1,400 people were working at the warehouse and 750 signed up. But the union claimed the fulfilment centre then added another 1,400 workers on temporary contracts.

Reynolds will respond to a number of consultations relating to the bill on Tuesday, including over implementing the ban on zero-hours contracts, the ban on fire-and-rehire practices, trade union rights and statutory sick pay.

Other key aspects of the legislation, such as a new statutory maximum period of probation which will allow for “lighter touch” dismissal for employees, are yet to be consulted on.

Businesses had lobbied for longer probation periods to allow them to dismiss poor employees as a concession to the introduction of day-one protection against unfair dismissal, such as those related to sex or race discrimination. At present, an employee has to be in post for two years in order to claim unfair dismissal through an employment tribunal, but the bill will introduce this right from day one.

Keir Starmer criticised Nigel Farage and his Reform UK party over their opposition to the bill last month. He told the Scottish Labour conference: “They talk the language of workers’ rights online and on the doorstep … but they voted against banning fire-and-rehire. They voted against scrapping exploitative zero-hours contracts.”

  • 329 payments of the New Baby Grant paid in Kildare

329 payments of the New Baby Grant paid in Kildare

    [ad_1]

A total of 329 payments have been made to Kildare parents in respect of the New Baby Grant, it was revealed in the Dáil recently.

Confirmation came following a question tabled by Fianna Fáil Kildare North TD, Naoise Ó Cearúil, who asked the Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary to make a statement on the matter.

Responding to Deputy Ó Cearúil, the Minister explained that a newborn baby grant of €280 was announced in last year’s budget to be paid to families of babies born on or after December 1 2024.

This grant is paid alongside, but in addition to, the first month’s child benefit of €140, so that parents of newborns will receive a total first payment of €420, he added.

According to the Minister, this increased first payment is in recognition of the additional costs that accompany the birth of a child.

The Minister said: “The benefit is payable in respect of newborn babies from the month after birth. Parents of children born in one month can, therefore, receive the child benefit payment, including the newborn baby grant, from the next month onwards.

“Given that the newborn baby grant is paid automatically with child benefit payments, there is no additional application for the grant. Therefore, parents of newborns do not need to do anything extra to receive the grant.

“Child benefit, as the Deputy may be aware, is a monthly payment to the parents or guardians of children under 16 years of age. Child benefit can also be claimed for children aged 16, 17 or 18 if they are in full-time education or training or have a disability and cannot support themselves.

“At present, child benefit is in payment to 679,000 families in respect of 1.27 million children, with an estimated expenditure of €2.2 billion for 2025.”

The Minister detailed that the first payments for newborns issued on February 11 to more than 4,400 customers in respect of 4,522 children.

These included 329 payments to parents in County Kildare.

To date, 6,345 customers have been paid the newborn baby grant in respect of 6,448 children, the Minister stated.

  • Why did Pryiyanka throw mother’s birthday bash just six days after father’s death?

Why did Pryiyanka throw mother’s birthday bash just six days after father’s death?

    [ad_1]

Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, recalled Priyanka insisted on celebrating her 60th birthday, just six days after her father Ashok Chopra’s passing.

Despite some relatives judging them, the global star wanted to honour her father’s memory and bring a smile back to her mother’s face. But the real surprise was John Abraham, here’s what happened.

Madhu revealed that her husband passed away on June 10 and just six days after was her birthday on June 16. “I was turning 60 and they had planned a big party for me.

The whole family was already there due to his illness. After his passing, we were grieving, but Priyanka insisted that we go ahead with the party and asked everyone to stay.

She said, ‘That’s what dad would have wanted,” she said in an interview with Lehren Retro.

According to Madhu, Priyanka surprised her by inviting John Abraham, her long-time crush, to her birthday party, making the day even more unforgettable.

She recalled how Priyanka arranged for John Abraham to arrive at midnight, wrapped like a birthday gift as she wanted her to have a special moment, and despite the family’s grief.

“But the rest of the family sat there gloomily, saying, ‘Look at her! She’s dancing! Does she not grieve for her husband?’ Meanwhile, I was thinking, ‘My daughter arranged all this; my kids put in so much effort. They’re all suffering and grieving, but this is how she is honouring her dad.’ Priyanka even said, ‘I am honouring his wish and you better fall in line with it.’ That’s the person she is.” she added.

Priyanka Chopra’s father Ashok Chopra passed away in 2013 after a courageous fight against cancer. As a heartfelt tribute, Priyanka has a tattoo on her right hand that reads “Daddy’s lil girl” in her father’s own handwriting.
