Nicole Kidman is remembering her beloved parents on a day that holds deep significance.

The Big Little Lies star took to Instagram on Wednesday, March 12, to honor her late mother, Janelle Ann, on what would have been her birthday.

“Missing Mumma and Papa so much on what would have been her birthday today,” Kidman, 57, wrote alongside a touching throwback photo of her parents, Janelle and Antony, smiling together in what appeared to be a kitchen setting.

Kidman’s father, Antony, passed away in 2014 at the age of 75 after reportedly suffering a fall at a hotel in Singapore. It was later confirmed that he died of a heart attack. 

A decade later, in September 2024, Kidman’s mother also passed away at the age of 84. The news came while the actress was attending the Venice International Film Festival, where she had to leave early to be with her family.

Despite her sudden departure, Kidman was awarded Best Actress for her performance in Babygirl. The film’s director, Halina Reijn, accepted the award on her behalf and shared a heartfelt statement from the grieving actress.

“Today I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed,” Reijn read during the ceremony. 

“I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me and she made me. I am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heart-breaking, and my heart is broken.”

Following her mother’s passing, Kidman and her sister, Antonia Kidman, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they received.

“My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week,” Nicole wrote in a joint social media post with Antonia, 54. 

“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other.”

Though both of her parents are gone, Kidman’s tribute proves their memory remains deeply cherished.

Australia’s Immigration Minister has blasted a US tourist for separating a baby wombat from its distressed mother, as an official investigation is launched into whether the hunting influencer has breached her visa and can be deported.

Tony Burke told Daily Mail Australia he ‘couldn’t wait’ for Australia to be rid of Samantha Jo Strable and that he doubted she would ever return Down Under.     

‘The department is now working through the conditions on her current visa and determining whether immigration law has been breached,’ Mr Burke said.

‘Either way, given the level of scrutiny that will happen if she ever applies for a visa again, I’ll be surprised if she even bothers.

‘I can’t wait for Australia to see the back of this individual, I don’t expect she will return.’   

His comments come after Ms Strable shared a since-deleted video of her interaction with a baby wombat to her Instagram page on Tuesday. 

Ms Strable, a self-described ‘wildlife biologist and environmental scientist’, captured the juvenile wombat from the side of an unidentified road. 

The footage showed Ms Strable running towards a car with the joey swinging in her arms as an Australian man laughed while filming the scene. 

‘I caught a baby wombat,’ Ms Strable said as the joey shrieked and wiggled trying to free itself from her grasp as its frantic mother ran over toward them. 

‘Okay, mum is right there and she is pissed.

‘Let’s let him go.’

The man replied: ‘Nah, he’s all right.’ 

Seconds later, Ms Strable released the joey onto the side of the road where its mother was waiting.

The video quickly received a barrage of backlash, with many viewers reporting the video under ‘animal abuse’. 

Ms Strable initially defended her actions, claiming she did not harm the joey and only held it for one minute. 

‘For everyone that’s worried and unhappy, the baby was carefully held for ONE minute in total and then released back to mum,’ she wrote.

‘They wandered back off into the bush together completely unharmed. I didn’t think I would be able to catch it in the first place, and took an opportunity to appreciate a really incredible animal up close. 

‘I don’t ever capture wildlife that will be harmed by my doing so.’

The influencer has switched her accounts to private but the public outcry  continued after the video was uploaded to TikTok and Reddit. 

WIRES wildlife veterinarian Tania Bishop said the wombat may have suffered ‘permanent injury’ to its upper limbs and shoulders after it was roughly handled. 

‘According to the Environment Protection and Biosecurity Act, you’re not allowed to unreasonably handle Australian wildlife unless you have a real belief that they are injured or requiring expert, trained care assistance or visionary assistance,’ she said.

‘The fact that they’re both laughing about it shows that there is absolutely no concern for the welfare of either the mother or the joey.

‘We don’t want to provoke a witch-hunt of course but is there a wider lesson here about public education on how to interact with our native animals. To be honest, I’m relieved that most people agree that that is inappropriate.’

Others called on the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water to deport Ms Strable to her home state of Montana.

‘This is heinous and they should both be charged,’ one person wrote. 

‘Please report her to Australian Department of Home Affairs so they can ban her from ever stepping foot in Australia again,’ a second person commented. 

A third added: ‘Hope she gets the maximum punishment for f***ing with wildlife’, while a fourth chimed in: ‘Arrest. Fine. Deport. Ban.’ 

Ms Strable’s online presence is largely populated with images of her posing with the carcasses of animals she claims to have hunted and shot.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Ms Strable for comment.

RAJKOT: A shocking case of honour killing came to light in Bhavnagar district, with a man allegedly murdering his 19-year-old daughter over her romantic relationship with a youth from a lower caste.
The incident occurred in Ranparda village of Palitana taluka on March 7, but the details emerged on Tuesday when police received human intelligence information about the girl’s death.
The accused father was reportedly assisted by his brother, who assaulted the victim before the former strangled her at their house in the village. After killing the girl, the brothers allegedly attempted to destroy evidence by secretly cremating her body at the village crematorium without informing relatives.
The girl and her sister were working as diamond polishers in a local unit, police sources confirmed. According to police sources, the girl’s mother died around 10 years ago. For the past several years, her father worked at a factory in Surat, while she was employed in a diamond polishing unit near her native place along with her younger sister.
On March 5, the girl reportedly eloped with her lover. When her father learned about the elopement, he returned to his native village from Surat the next day and somehow managed to bring her back. On March 7, a bitter altercation broke out between the man and his daughter over her affair. The father then allegedly strangled her in the presence of her sister at their house, said police.
“The accused was consumed by the feeling that his daughter tarnished his reputation and made it impossible for him to live in the village and within his community. At the time of the murder, her younger sister was also present in the house. The father allegedly threatened her, warning that she would also be killed if she revealed anything,” sources in the police department confirmed.
According to sources, the victim’s younger sister informed her maternal uncle about the murder, who in turn, discussed the matter with his father and other family members. When they confronted the girl’s father about her death, he initially claimed that she consumed poison and died by suicide. However, further inquiry by the family revealed that she was murdered.
Deputy Superintendent of police (DySP) Mihir Bariya told TOI that the man fled to Surat after the crime.
On the complaint lodged by the deceased’s maternal grandfather, Palitana (rural) police registered an offence on March 11 against the brothers under relevant sections of BNS and rounded them up.
“After their formal arrest, both accused will be presented before the court for remand. Forensic experts will be roped in for reconstruction of the crime scene,” Bariya said.

Our friend and colleague Kevin Drum passed away on March 7. He was 66 and had been living with multiple myeloma for 11 years, and being the extraordinary journalist he was, he had taken readers along on the journey, sharing health updates on his blog. They were, in trademark style, matter-of-fact, data-driven, and wry; the last one included, like so many of his posts, a chart he’d made (this one to track the status of his C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation). There were 140 replies, many from readers who had followed him for years and decades. They worried for him, wished him a speedy recovery, and one wrote:

If, however, it is “time” I wish for YOU the same thing that my Dad wished for my Mom. May your journey be pain free, and your memories clear! You have brought more joy to others than you received. Nothing in this life on earth is better than going when it’s your time, with the knowledge that you brought to others joy, and happiness.

This was quite in line with Kevin’s own thinking about death and dying. In 2016, two years after he was first diagnosed, he wrote an in-depth piece about the death with dignity movement. It had in-depth reporting, but he also grappled with the decisions he would have to make. He wasn’t sure how much longer he might have—“Five years? Ten years? Two?”—but he was very clear that when the time came, he wanted the option of going out on his own terms.

It was an extraordinary piece of writing and like any great piece, it was also a gift to the rest of us, helping make sense of something messy, scary, and confusing. That was Kevin’s talent, from the moment he first started posting as Calpundit as a pioneer of the blogosphere, later blogging at Washington Monthly under the sobriquet of Political Animal. His sweet spot was making complicated political and economic topics accessible to the rest of us, and by the time we took the helm of Mother Jones in 2006, he was one of our favorite bloggers. (Who couldn’t love the inventor of Friday cat blogging?) We asked him if he’d write for the magazine, and then whether he would consider bringing his blogging over to MoJo, and, by 2008, he’d agreed to both.

That began a 13-year run during which, it’s no exaggeration to say, Kevin was a big part of turning Mother Jones into a force to be reckoned with. When he went long, he went big: He wrote a groundbreaking piece on the link between lead exposure and crime rates that helped advance the conversation about environmental racism. Long before most people were paying attention, he explained how the destruction of unions was bad for the whole middle class and how AI was going to take all of our jobs. He unpacked the aftermath of the housing crisis and bank bailout. He told his mostly liberal audience that earmarks were good, actually. Meanwhile, producing posts at a breathtaking clip, his blog routinely reached hundreds of thousands of people, sometimes millions, a month. His most loyal readers were a fierce community who debated the finer points of this or that feat of statistical analysis, laughed with him at the antics of the pompous and entitled, and cooed over the cat photos he faithfully posted every Friday.

Like every blogger worth his salt, he sometimes shot from the hip and occasionally missed; unlike some, he had the courage and integrity to take the resulting flack, listen, and change his mind. And true to his menschy self, he turned down every proposed increase to his modest salary, asking that we use the money to help more junior staffers instead.

No matter the topic or format, Kevin loved busting myths, puncturing truisms, and perhaps most of all, helping all of us see that regardless of how bizarre, unnerving, or terrifying things got, the end of the world was not yet nigh. On hearing of Kevin’s passing, our former colleague Dave Gilson, a fellow chart genius who often worked with Kevin, sent us a note that read, “Kevin was passionate and principled, but his default setting was calm in the face of hyperventilation and hyperbole. So when he did get angry, you knew it was bad.”

When Kevin first had to undergo cancer therapy that took him out of commission for a time, he worried about abandoning his readers. Other staffers helped fill in, but we also reached out to the OG blogging community, to see if they had a post to offer in honor of him. A veritable who’s-who—Ezra Klein, Matt Yglesias, Ann Friedman, Ana Marie Cox, Jonathan Chait, David Dyden, Felix Salmon, and many others—signed up. Over the next few years, his health ebbed and flowed but eventually got to a point where he decided he had to blog at his own pace and timing. He eschewed Substack—didn’t like the vibe—and set up his own blog, naming it Jabberwocking. And he spent the next few months working on a long piece for us about how Fox News had made America so angry.

Donald Trump did make Kevin angry, but even in the chaotic weeks of the second Trump administration, he found ways to knock the chaos-mongers down a notch. He had a realist’s idealism—a cautious, but steadfast faith in the ability of democracy to muddle through its darkest hours and come out the other side. In these last ten years, that was unique and sanity-preserving for so many of his readers, us included.

A few weeks ago, when he was in the hospital struggling with pneumonia, Kevin had a low point and posted a brief update that ended with the words “Take care of Donald Trump for me.” It was a little cryptic, but also classic Kevin: He didn’t want us to take ourselves, or Trump, too seriously. He knew that this, too, would pass.

Kevin was a passionate amateur photographer and loved to post about some new thing he’d accomplished with a lens, or an evening he’d spent outdoors trying to capture some moment in the skies. He set up Jabberwocking so as to display one of his photos every time you reloaded it, along with a quote from some writer or blogger. When we checked it after learning of his death, it showed a photo of the Santa Ana Mountains, shot from Irvine in Orange County, California, where he spent his entire life. The quote that accompanied it was “Everything takes longer than you think,” and it was from Kevin himself. We’d like to think it was a reminder: these tough, confusing times will be hard, and will last longer than we’d like, but not forever.

Kevin’s wife Marian has set up a remembrance page on Facebook and we encourage his fans to leave their goodbyes there.

Tallulah Willis was feeling nostalgic on Tuesday when she posted a throwback photo with her parents, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, alongside her stepmother, Emma Heming. 

The 31-year-old took to Instagram to share her appreciation for her family, with the sweet snap taken in 2008 at the premiere of Demi’s film Flawless.  

“It’s so silly that the internet is akin to a family photo album for me,” Tallulah wrote in the caption. “Random gems can just pop up — but I love my parents, all three of them! @emmahemingwillis @demimoore.”

The photo saw Tallulah sandwiched between her parents, as Demi and Emma giggled with each other.

Emma responded to the heartfelt message by reposting it to her Instagram stories and adding a simple white heart emoji to show her love. 

The post comes amid Bruce’s health battle with frontotemporal dementia, which his daughter opened up about in September. 

“He’s stable which, in this situation, is good,” she said in an interview with Today. 

“It’s hard,” she added. “There’s painful days, but there’s so much love. And it’s really shown me to not take any moment for granted, and I really do think that we’d be best friends. I think he’s very proud of me.”

The family grew even closer after the Die Hard actor’s diagnosis, with Demi making weekly trips to support him and his wife.

The Substance star was married to Bruce from 1987 until 2000, and welcomed daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 31, together. 

The 69-year-old then married Emma Heming in 2009 after meeting at their mutual trainer’s gym. The couple went on to have two daughters: Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10. 

“We will always be a family, just in a different form,” Demi told Variety. “For me, there was never a question. I show up because that’s what you do for the people you love.” 

“I hope it’s encouraging for others to see that there’s a different way to do things,” she added. “There is life after divorce. There is a way to co-parent with love.”

For the 46-year-old Emma, Demi and the girls’ support is invaluable as the blended family navigates their new normal. 

“The family respects the way I’m looking after him; they really support me. If I need to vent, if I need to cry, if I need to rage — because all of that can happen and it’s okay to have those feelings — they are always there to listen,” she told Town & Country. 

“I‘m so thankful that we are this blended family. They’re very supportive, very loving, and very helpful, and a lot of people don’t have that.“ Mabel and Evelyn are close with their older sisters and have leaned on the family throughout their father’s illness.

“I‘ve never tried to sugarcoat anything for them,” Emma told the publication. “They’ve grown up with Bruce declining over the years. I’m not trying to shield them from it.”

She continued: “Obviously, I don’t like to speak about the terminal side of this with them, nor have they asked. They know that Daddy’s not going to get better.”

Australia meet your very first Golden Bachelor.

Cameras have officially started rolling on the Samantha Armytage-hosted Channel Nine dating show for older, single romantics looking for a second shot at love. 

Daily Mail Australia can exclusively reveal Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden, a 50-something infrastructure engineer and passionate sailor from Sydney, has been handpicked as the leading man for the upcoming Australian adaptation.

In exclusive pictures, Myrden was seen filming the show in Sydney on Wednesday. 

He channelled James Bond as he drove a retro Italian speedboat across the Harbour while dressed in a black tuxedo and matching bow tie. 

Myrden, a father of three and a respected professional in the tech industry, currently works in Data Centre Management for Woolworths Group.

With decades of experience in his field, he has held senior roles at major companies like Macquarie Bank and the NSW Port Authority.

But while his career has flourished, sources close to Daily Mail Australia reveal that his personal journey has been marked by tragedy – Myrden is widowed.

‘Bear is always complaining that his boys are saying that he is bringing around the wrong of girls that are just too young and hot for him,’ one friend revealed.

‘We were always saying that he needs to put on a show like MAFS, so seeing him up for the Bachelor role is no surprise.’

Despite his corporate background, Myrden is far from your typical executive.

A passionate sailor, he has competed in high-profile races like the Sydney to Hobart.

In one photo captured during one of his recent sailing ventures, Myrden looked handsome and rugged as he confidently manned a yacht.

Unlike the younger contestants seen on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Myrden’s journey to find a new partner is set to resonate with a more mature audience who have experienced great love and great loss and have desire to find companionship in their next chapter.

‘Bear is not your usual reality TV type,’ an insider told Daily Mail Australia. 

‘He’s charming, intelligent and has really lived a full life. He’s been through love, loss and now he’s ready to open his heart again. Women are going to adore him.’

Fans of the franchise have been calling for an adaptation of The Golden Bachelor since the U.S. version premiered last year to critical acclaim.

Producers are keeping tight-lipped about the contestants vying for Myrden’s heart, but if the U.S. series is anything to go by the show promises to deliver a mix of heartwarming moments, deep connections and perhaps even a few unexpected twists.

In November, it was reported The Golden Bachelor has been scouting for contestants in a very unusual way.

A talent scout for the show was spotted handing out business cards to attendees at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.

Casting agent Ivanna Tang opted for the unusual method of attempting to recruit racegoers to the upcoming spin-off show.

Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed that Australia will be getting a spin-off for the series back in November 2023. 

Nine secured the rights for The Golden Bachelor in Australia and Samantha has been signed up to host the reality dating show.

Samantha got involved with the casting call, urging people to give their family members a ‘nudge’.

The outgoing Farmer Wants A Wife host had shocked fans when she stepped down from Seven after 21 years, sparking wild rumours about her next step.

Her new TV gig on The Golden Bachelor was finally revealed at Nine’s Upfronts in November, where the network’s schedule of 2025 programming was unveiled to invited guests.

The U.S. version of the show has been wildly successful, with its finale garnering 6.1million viewers, making it the most watched final episode of the American Bachelor series since 2021.

Channel Nine and Warner Bros. did not respond to queries when approached for comment.

Nicole Kidman misses her parents “so much”.
The ‘Babygirl’ actress lost her father Antony in 2014 after he suffered a heart attack, while her mom Janelle died last September and she’s reflected on them no longer being in her life in what would have been her mother’s birthday on Thursday (13.03.25).
Nicole shared an old photo of her parents on Instagram and wrote: “Missing Mumma and Papa so much on what would have been her birthday today [heart emoji] (sic)”
The 57-year-old actress previously insisted she wouldn’t put a “time limit” on her grief.
Speaking in December, she told ‘CBS Sunday Mornings’, she said: “Wow, three months on, and people say to me ‘Yeah, she was 84, a good life…’ But that was my mom. It doesn’t matter what age someone is. There is no limit on grief, you don’t have to have a time limit on it, you don’t have to be all better by this time.
“You’re allowed to pass through in waves and people go ‘Oh well, whatever’, but it’s my mama, my life, and I’m allowed to process and grieve in the way I want to.”
The ‘Big Little Lies’ star has Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, with ex-husband Tom Cruise but also has Sunday, 16, and 14-year-old Faith with spouse Keith Urban and is aware that as an “older mother” she needs to be mindful of her health after taking advice from her own mom.
She said: “And the final words my mama said to me, I was gonna get on a plane, and she said ‘Maybe wait a minute, because you just need to take care of yourself, Nicky.’
“I’m doing that more, and I say that to other people in the world. Particularly, women, I think we tend not to care of ourselves. We take care of everybody else but the last person is here.
“My grandmother left me with ‘be happy’ and my grandmother said ‘Take care of yourself.
“I’m an older mother so I wanna be around a long time for my girls, they’re amazing girls and I’m lucky to have them so taking care of myself so that I can take care of them.
“I would like to be around for a long time. Who knows? I don’t get to choose that.”

MICHELLE Keegan and Mark Wright revealed they are the proud parents of a baby daughter.

The Our Girl actress, 37, and Heart FM DJ Mark, 38, named her Palma after ­falling in love with Majorca.

The couple announced the arrival of Palma Elizabeth with a touching photo of her in a lace dress and bonnet.

Michelle and Mark posted on Instagram: “Together we have a new love to share – our little girl.”

The couple have recently spent lots of time loved-up at their property near the Majorcan capital.

A pal said: “Palma holds a special place in Michelle and Mark’s hearts. They spent time there when no one knew she was expecting.

“The picture they took of them confirming the pregnancy was taken in Majorca too.

“Their friends have joked they’re like Posh and Becks.”

In 1999, Victoria and David Beckham named their first-born son Brooklyn after he was conceived in New York.

Pals said Our Girl actress Michelle gave birth last week at London’s Portland Hospital, where Kate Middleton had her three children.

The former Corrie star has spent the past six days at home in Essex. A friend said: “Michelle and Mark are in that beautiful newborn bubble and are besotted with Palma.”

The pair were flooded with congratulatory messages. Body Coach star Joe Wicks said: “FFS I’m crying over here. I know how much you’ve wanted to be a dad.”

Last month we revealed raiders broke into their £3.5million home while the couple were there.

Four masked men fled empty-handed.
