  • I Do Not Help My Wife And Neither Should You

I do not help my wife!!!

A friend came to my house for coffee, we sat and talked about life. At some point in the conversation, I said, “I’m going to wash the dishes and I’ll be right back.”

He looked at me as if I had told him I was going to build a space rocket. Then he said to me with admiration but a little perplexed: “I’m glad you help your wife, I do not help because when I do, my wife does not praise me. Last week I washed the floor and no thanks.”

I went back to sit with him and explained that I did not “help” my wife. Actually, my wife does not need help, she needs a partner. I am a partner at home and through that society are divided functions, but it is not a “help” to do household chores.

I do not help my wife clean the house because I live here too and I need to clean it too.

I I do not help my wife.

I do not help my wife to cook because I also want to eat and I need to cook too.

I do not help my wife wash the dishes after eating because I also use those dishes.

I do not help my wife with her children because they are also my children and my job is to be a father.

I do not help my wife to wash, spread or fold clothes, because the clothes are also mine and my children.

I am not a help at home, I am part of the house. And as for praising, I asked my friend when it was the last time after his wife finished cleaning the house, washing clothes, changing bed sheets, bathing her children, cooking, organizing, etc. You said thank you

But a thank you of the type: Wow, sweetheart !!! You are fantastic!!!

Does that seem absurd to you? Are you looking strange? When you, once in a lifetime, cleaned the floor, you expected in the least, a prize of excellence with great glory … why? You never thought about that, my friend?

Maybe because for you, the macho culture has shown that everything is her job.

Perhaps you have been taught that all this must be done without having to move a finger? Then praise her as you wanted to be praised, in the same way, with the same intensity. Give her a hand, behave like a true companion, not as a guest who only comes to eat, sleep, bathe and satisfy needs … Feel at home. In his house.

The real change of our society begins in our homes, let us teach our sons and daughters the real sense of fellowship! “

  • Dogs Dumped When Children Return To School

As children across the UK go back to school, Dogs Trust has identified an alarming trend which sees some families hand their dogs into rescue centres as soon as their children go back to school. Last year, on September 5th, the start of the new school year, we recorded one of the highest number of calls on any one day of the year. We were asked to take in 220 dogs; double the number of calls we usually receive from struggling dog owners on an average day.

With some owners giving up their dogs due to the return to the working routine and juggling the school run after the summer holidays, Dogs Trust is encouraging owners to bring their dogs to training classes, such as Dogs Trust Dog School to help overcome any issues. Sadly, the welfare charity is also seeing instances of dogs being given up because they have been bought to entertain the children over the summer and are no longer needed when the new school year begins .

Maria Wickes, Head of Dogs Trust Dog School, explains:

“Sadly it does seem to be a recurring trend that we see more dogs handed into us as soon as children go back to school. In many cases dogs are not equipped to deal with this change in routine and may start displaying undesirable behaviour. We hope that anyone struggling to control their dog’s behaviour after the summer holidays will consider giving them up a last resort and instead send them “ Bark to School” and sign up for training classes.”

Maria adds: “In extreme cases we are finding people even buy dogs simply to keep their children occupied during the holidays . Gus, a nine-month-old Cockapoo, was handed into us because his owners bought him to entertain the children during the summer holidays and then passed him to us for rehoming when the kids weren’t around during the day anymore. Whilst the majority of dog owners regard their dogs as valued family members, it appears some may be using dogs as four-legged nannies over the holidays and disregarding them come September. We hope people will remember that a dog is for life and carefully consider this lifetime commitment before purchasing a dog.”

Dogs Trust Dog School classes operate nationwide and are available throughout the year.

Dogs Trust hope this will not become a long term trend and educating children about responsible dog ownership and safety is an important part of what we do at Dogs Trust.

  • Do You Work With Any Of These?

    The worst types of colleagues:

In every work place you will have at least one of these colleagues and if you don’t your probably one of them.

    THE FAFFER
The faffer always seems busy but hardly achieves anything, always running around doing things that don’t need doing.

    THE WANNABE BOSS.
You know the type the power crazy person, who likes to tell everyone what to do but actually has no authority

     THE GOSSIPER
I hate the gossiper, you can’t keep anything secret for long around this one, and if they have no juic gossip they will make it up.

    THE CLASSIC BICH
You know the type, the one who is nice to your face but back stabs you at every available moment, and like wise your other colleagues.

    THE BLAMER
This person always messes up but my God it’s never their fault, they constantly pass the blame onto someone else.

    THE MESS.
The colleague who turns up late, forgets things they require to do their job and then leaves early.

THE HOW THE HELL YOU STILL WORK HERE.
This one does sweet FA, constantly lazy, never helps, but some how gets away with it, like seriously get off your arse and help.

    THE SICK NOTE

Yeah we all get ill, some worse than others, but this one will take a day off because their cousins dogs got worms.

    THE LUCKY BREAK
This goes to seniors, managers etc… ones who landed in a job they just aren’t cut out for.                                                                                        They hate you as you know the job better than they do!!

    THE HAPPY ONE
Ok maybe they shouldn’t be on the worst types of colleagues list, but how can you be so damn happy to be at work, I’m angry that you’re happy here, it’s like hell on Earth.

  • Stay at home Mum VS. Working Mum

Stay at home Mum VS. Working Mum
Having a child is kind of a big deal. It changes everything. Things that used to seem important suddenly fall off your radar. Suddenly you have this little person that you need to care for. You no longer just think about yourself, you come second, first is your child.
Inevitably for some parents, you have to make a very difficult decision:
Do you return to work or do you become a stay at home mum?
If you return to work do you go back full-time or part-time?
If you become a stay at home mum will you have enough money?
Will I be setting a good example if I don’t return to work?
Will I miss too much of my babies childhood if I do return to work?
Will people think I’m a bad mum if I return to work?
Will people think I’m lazy if I don’t?
It seems crazy doesn’t it? All this stress and worry about something which should be an easy decision. But it isn’t. It is a very difficult decision for every parent.
When I first became a parent I was 21 years old, I had 1 year off work with my daughter then I returned, back to full time work. 40 hours a week plus an extra hour a day for travelling.
When I made this choice I knew it was for the best. My husband and I were saving up to buy a house and we couldn’t do that on just one wage.
I was hard. Really hard. Actually thinking back, it might be the saddest I’ve ever been. I felt awful. Like the worst mum in the world.
I thought everyone was judging me. Calling me a bad mother.
    Of course they weren’t.
And I wasn’t. I was being the best mother I could be. I was looking to the future trying to build a better life for us.
I worked full time for nearly 4 years. Then my son was born. This time the choice was easier. I remembered how unhappy I was working so much and being away from my daughter, so I told my husband that I wasn’t going to do it again. I was done. I was quitting as soon as the baby was born…. Well that didn’t go as I planned. As it turns out I could change my contract. Instead of working 5 days a week I could work just 1! It was a big pay cut but once I got to work that 1 day a week I really enjoyed it. Having grown up conversations, drinking coffee while it was still hot. Not watching Peppa Pig for the billionth time. I guess I had the best of both worlds.
Now it’s 4 years later and I’m back to basically full time although it’s “family friendly” so some weeks I will only work 1 day and others I’ll do 6. But it works with my family, we have a good balance and with the kids both in school now I don’t feel guilty anymore for “leaving them”.
I’m not really sure what their is in my little story to take away.
I guess I just want people to see how difficult it can be for mothers and fathers to make this decision.
How what works in one household wouldn’t work in another.
That you don’t know what’s happening in the head and the heart of the person you might be judging because they made a different choice.
    Anyway.. Thank you for reading.
