  • Boris Speech Explained

Don’t understand the confusion people seem to be having regarding the recent announcement…no wonder people were doing the fudging conga to Vera Lynn with the neighbours after a few pimms on VE Day…I think a fair proportion of the population lack common sense…

    It’s pretty simple…for now the only changes are;

ā–ŖļøWork from home if you can. Construction workers can return to work if they’re able to adhere to social distancing while there. Avoid public transport to get there where at all possible.

ā–ŖļøStay at home apart from exercise (which is no longer restricted to 1 hour, once a day. It can now be done in parks and sports can be played with the family you live with) whilst observing social distancing rules.

ā–ŖļøDepending on the response to these measures we may see more shops and businesses & primary schools opening from the start of June…all dependant on the figures.

ā–ŖļøPotentially seeing hospitality begin to open at the start of July…all depandant on the figures.

    It’s not rocket science!

Don’t twist words & overcomplicate the simple to hear what you want to hear…

STAY AT HOME unless you need to go out.

Only go to work if you can get there safely & CANNOT WORK FROM HOME & you are able to practice social distancing at work.

Exercising is unlimited WITH MEMBERS OF YOUR HOUSEHOLD.

  • Before Daddy Left For Work

Before Daddy left for work this morning, Daddy did not have to give Mummy a list of things the children needed. He did not have to ask Mummy to watch the children for a few hours. He didn’t have to give Mummy a single prompt on how to look after her own children, because Mummy knew.

    1. At 3:25pm Daddy arrived home from work. He had ever so kindly (although begrudgingly) helped Mummy out by fetching their eldest child from school on his way home.
    2. As Daddy and the eldest child walked through the door, Mummy whom was stood at the sink washing the dishes greeted them with a lovely and jolly ā€˜hello! Are you both ok?’
    3. Mummy had lovingly prepared and cooked the family dinner. Because Mummy knew that everyone needed feeding. Mummy did not need asking if she was planning on feeding the children, Mummy just knew.
    4. During the day whilst Daddy had been busy being very important at work Mummy had spent what felt like twenty-thousand hours cleaning, washing clothes, hoovering the carpets and tidying away toys. Then redoing it every time her feral youngest child decided to fuck it all right up again.
    5. When Daddy arrived home he did not need to ask Mummy if they had been victims of a reverse burglary.
    6. When Daddy arrived home from work Mummy was not sprawled out on the carpet watching Ben and holly’s little kingdom whilst chaos erupted around her.
    7. At 5pm when Mummy had to pop out to work for a couple of hours, Mummy asked Daddy if he would mind watching the children for a couple of hours. Mummy asked Daddy if he could possibly feed them some supper before bed, maybe even bath them if he could manage it by himself.
    8. When Mummy walked in from work at 7pm…a mere 2 hours later, the house looked as if someone had indeed reverse burgled the house. It looked as if a massive sodding Smyth’s toys lorry had arrived, the driver had tipped the whole contents of the bastarding lorry onto the living room floor and then sprinkled a box of coco pops on top of the massive pile of plastic for an extra special treat.
    9. When Mummy walked in from work at 7pm…a mere two hours after she had left, she witnessed Daddy, sprawled out on the floor amongst the massive pile of plastic and coco pops, calmly viewing Ben and Holly’s little kingdom whilst the smallest child sat emptying every pan out of the cupboard in the kitchen.
    10. When Mummy nipped upstairs for a quick wee, she quickly realised Daddy the amazing had actually managed to bath of the children. Mummy felt ever-so-grateful as she followed a trail of 56 wet towels lay on the floor leading towards a bath full of freezing cold water and 234 toys floating within it that needed to be fished out. She felt even more grateful once she realised Daddy had also learnt to multitask! Shaving at the same time as bathing the kids was a real talent. Mummy was so pleased she had scrubbed the sink earlier in the day for it now to be infested with facial hair.
    11. When Mummy asked Daddy if the children had eaten their supper, Daddy informed Mummy that neither of the children fancied milk with their coco pops, that they requested them dry. Hence why the living room now had a twatting dusting of them. Daddy informed Mummy he had already picked a few up.
    12. When Mummy asked Daddy why the eldest child was wearing pyjamas that were approximately 3 sizes too small, Daddy informed Mummy that he was not sure where all of her pyjamas were kept. Daddy snapped at Mummy and told her that nothing was ever good enough for her.
    13. When Mummy noticed the sink was yet again full of pots, even though the children had only been fed dry cereals straight from the box, Mummy thought she might actually just spontaneously combust.
    14. When Mummy called Daddy a useless scruffy Cockwomble as she began to rage clean for the eighty-eighth time that day, Daddy looked surprised. After all…Daddy had done everything Mummy had asked him to.

ā€œWhat is wrong with you? Why are you in a bad mood?ā€ Asked the oblivious Cockwomble.

ā€œIt’s a twatting mystery when I should be feeling so grateful.ā€ Replied Mummy.

    Then Mummy drank wine.
Mummy drank Lots and lots of lovely wine as she wondered what fresh hell would await after her considerably longer than 2 hour shift the next day.
    The end.

  • Watch Your Sick Kid

Tonight I walked in the tanning salon and the employee seemed very annoyed and not very welcoming.
At first I thought to myself ā€œwell she’s not in a good mood, she needs to put her happy face on at workā€

Then I looked down… I see a baby.. a sick baby sitting in his car seat…
I immediately think ā€œwhy did she bring her sick baby to workā€ and then, I thought you know what sometimes moms (and dads) have to ā€œdo what they gotta doā€.
Babies get sick, moms and dads get sick.
Sometimes you have to work because you can’t call into work two days in a row because your child still has fever and can’t go to daycare.
Often times, you don’t have anyone to help you.

As I walked to my room, I noticed a lot of beds dirty…
I laid in the tanning bed, I thought about this employee.. the overwhelmed look on her face when I walked in, the sick baby, all the dirty beds..
I can just imagine how she feels.
Most likely worried about getting in trouble, wondering how she is going to keep up with work and watch her sick child.

As I walked out of the room, I stopped at the door.
She asked if she could help me with something and I said ā€œactually.. I wanted to offer my help to you. Would you like me to watch your child while you catch up on work?ā€
She looked like a weight was lifted off her shoulders, a relief she needed at that moment.
    She told me ā€œAw..you don’t have to.ā€
I told her I wanted to help her!!

She smiled and said ā€œI would really appreciate it. Thank you so muchā€.
So there I was sitting on the floor rocking this baby, while she caught up on cleaning beds and signing people in.
It was only about 15 minutes but at the end of that 15 minutes, The mom was caught up on her job, the baby was asleep, and kindness was shared between two strangers.
So next time, you see someone trying to keep a smile on their face.
Stop and think about how you can help them.
    Share kindness.
You never truly know what someone is going through.
A little love can go a long ways ā¤ļø

  • Everyone Thinks Being A Stay At Home Mum Is Easy

ā˜ļø everyone thinks being a stay at home mom full time is easy.

    — that we are lucky to be able to not have to work.

    — that we are lazy.

    — that it’s not ā€œrealā€ work so we have nothing to complain about.

šŸ‘‰ but the truth is…it’s fucking lonely and overwhelming

You can’t do anything by yourself; go to the bathroom, enjoy a cup of coffee, read, hell you can’t even scrub the shit out of pants for the 3rd time in a day without someone crying or screaming at your leg.

You don’t get breaks unless they are sleeping; which even then you use that time to clean up

You struggle to come up with ways to entertain someone for literally 12 hours a day every day.

You wear the same clothes that smell like sweat and tears for days at a time because it’s already stained and no use in ruining more clothes.

You forget what it means or feels like to be an individual; because your entire existence now revolves around that child.

You look at working moms and get jealous because you wish you could have an excuse to have an adult conversation without being interrupted.

You lock yourself in the bathroom and scream into a towel while crying because you need a second to breathe; all while a child is banging on the door to get in…

ā˜ļø let that sink in, most of us don’t even have the luxury to cry and be frustrated in peace..and when we do break down people question it; ā€œlike what do you have to cry about you get to sit home all day.ā€

I was one of those people who judged SAHM’s. But I get it now. The people who said they’d be there to help have all but disappeared, and you’re left with this overwhelming sense of failure.

My house isn’t clean, I’m not clean, the dishes aren’t done, I have screamed already today, I have cried, and I have felt so damn guilty that my child was here to witness it.

    But I am alone….and I am lonely

šŸ‘‰šŸ‘‰ check in on your SAHM friends….we are NOT okay

  • For Every Woman Who Cries Alone In The Shower

For the woman whose husband makes an “extra stop” after work every evening.

For the woman who is mourning the loss of a pregnancy that nobody else knew about.

For the woman who still leads from the front even although she’s lost inside.

For the woman who was fired for her fourth late because she has been awake for a straight week with a sick child.

For the single mom who doesn’t know how the utilities are going to stay on this month.

For the woman who has gone through 2 IVF’s and has tried for five years without success but still shows up to every baby shower for her friends.

For the woman who still hasn’t forgiven herself for the abortion that she had 20 years ago.

For the woman who has a line of judging eyes at her and her children as she counts out coins or has to put something back at the supermarket.

For the woman that opens the door to the news of her husband being killed overseas three weeks before he was to return home.

For the woman that lives with a quiet anxiety because nobody understands what you could possibly be stressed about.

For the woman that gives to her family all day- everyday and just needs a break.

For the woman that smiles at strangers all day in public- but weeps silently every night.

For the woman who has wanted to end it all but found strength to carry on.

For the woman that heard the rumour about herself at church today.

For the woman sleeping next to a stranger every night.

For the woman whose genetics will never allow her to look like the ones in the magazines.

For the woman that endures one broken relationship after another because there was no father around to teach her what love looks like.

For the woman raising a fatherless daughter and praying that history doesn’t repeat itself.

For the woman who loves with all her heart who’s desperate to be loved.

For every single woman that cries in the shower so that nobody else can see. Because if you aren’t strong-nobody is.

Just because the water washes your tears doesn’t mean that you don’t cry. Just because you cry doesn’t mean that you’re not strong enough to handle it.

I am you. I see you. I am with you, I cry with you. I love you. šŸ’œ

  • I Gave Up Work And Now Travel The World

ā€œI’m sorry but Jenny never showed up for her shift, I know it’s supposed to be your day off but I’m stuck in meetings and need you to go open the bar right now.ā€

The text you never want to see from your boss. I seemed to receive some version of this text all too often. šŸ˜’

ā€œAre you serious? Come on man, I just worked the last 6 nights in a rowā€

    ā€œPlease, I’m desperateā€¦ā€

And that was how I got roped in to working on my only day off, again. šŸ˜’šŸ”«

As the electric motor that lifted the big metal gate covering the bar’s patio grinded to life and the ā€œclack, clack, clackā€ sound of the metal slabs of the slowly lifting gated rang in my ears I thought about how I’d originally gotten into this

business for the flexible hours. But these days it seemed more like a fantasy, working nights, so I could have my days open to work on my production left me with out a social life and too exhausted to think.

I unlocked the heavy glass door and walked into the dark bar, leaving the sunny warm day behind me and took in the

smell of stale beer and whatever the kitchen guys had been frying up last night.

    Gross. šŸŗšŸ”

ā€œWhy is the AC always set to arctic freeze in hereā€ I said out loud to the empty bar as I started turning on lights and

    counting drawers. 🄶

This isn’t the life I had envisioned for myself after almost 18 years of living and grinding in LA. I took this job because

the money was great, but only as long as I was there ALL THE TIME!!

I missed more birthdays and events than I could count and hadn’t been on a vacation, not even a weekend getaway in ages.

For the last two years I had worked every weekend, and holiday, No matter how big or how small; Christmas, New Years, valentines day, presidents day, the fourth of July, you name it, I was there, behind that bar, and I was over it!

I wanted to pay off my debt, finish choreographing and produce my cabaret show and never step foot into another bar I wasn’t drinking in or performing in ever again!

Plus I’d always had this dream, ever since I was a little girl, looking at the photos from my parents 6 month, around the

world vacation, to travel! And not just a week here or there, but to really travel, to spend a month in a place and get to really feel what it would be like to live there. To experience different cultures and lifestyles. šŸŒŽāœØ

How was I already 36 years old and still working a dead-end job just to barely get by.

When my parents were my age they were already married, owned a house, had two kids and had been all the way around the world.

What went wrong?! What did I do?!?

Something had to change and it had to change fast!!

I felt anxious and resentful that my life was passing me by and I was going to miss out! What if I never got the chance to travel full time? The thought sent chills down my spine.

Then a miracle happened, my bar got sold. They announced it the day I closed escrow on my house, my $300k

mortgage depending completely on my job security. I was terrified! 😯

But wait, sometimes out of the biggest tragedies comes our biggest triumphs, and mine was getting fired.

Yep, I slaved away at this dumb bar, making someone else rich, sacrificing my friends, my relationships and my dreams only to get Fired!?!?!

I didn’t see it in the moment, but it would turn out to be the best thing for me. šŸŽ‰

It meant I could cut my hours, and finally finish my show! Which I did!! And to sold out audiences our entire run!! šŸ™Œ

šŸ™ I’d never been happier. But now I faced a cross roads. I could stay in LA and build my show, which meant more 16 hours days and hustling nonstop and barely getting by OR I could shut it down, sell my house and go travel!!

That’s right, you guessed it, I quit my job, shut down my show and put my house on the market and left LA after 18

years. I was beyond excited for the next chapter of my life to start and the adventure I was embarking on.

But life never really goes the way you expect.

I had to move in with my mom at 36 years old 😳 And the house didn’t sell, it sat on the market eating away at my savings. And I couldn’t find a job in Colorado that didn’t insist on a 2 year commitment which I couldn’t make because the whole point was too go travel. 😱

So here I was, stuck in Denver, living with my mother, no money, a mortgage and a quickly dwindling savings account. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

I sank into a depression, panicked that I had made a horrible mistake. I’d had a good life in LA, friends, a job, a

production I was proud of and I gave it all up for this?

I started looking for ways out. Some way, any way to salvage my dream and my life.

Everyone I knew who was traveling full time or living abroad worked online. So I knew that had to be the key! šŸ—

But I am so UN-computer savvy it’s not even funny, I can barely send an email šŸ™ˆ So I knew I was going to have to learn, and to do that I needed to find a course, or a coach, some kind of mentor that could hold my hand and walk me through exactly what to do, step by step.

I looked into a number of different options but they left me with an Icky feeling, like a shamefully sleezy salesman or something 🤢 and I just knew it wouldn’t work for me if I didn’t feel good about it.

I started researching how to start a blog and monetize it, but I’m no writer and didn’t really have much of a social media game. I thought I was doomed.

That’s when I found an awesome Digital Marketing platform. I don’t know why it stood out to me but it did. It just felt different, it felt right, Like it just clicked.

So I dug deeper and what I found was an amazing community of people, of all ages and backgrounds.

And they all seemed happy and excited about what they were doing.

Not to mention they were all so friendly and made me feel really welcome! 🄰 There are a ton of tools available, and lots of friendly faces to turn to for help. Whether to answer questions, give helpful tips or just some general guidance.

And it was exactly what I was looking for in terms of it being easy to get started and a step by step process that super easy to follow.

I’m learning a new skillset that will be super useful in all areas of my life and I can use well into the future.

And the best part is I get to help people!

And now not only do I travel full time but I can stay abroad indefinitely because I am making more than enough money. 🄳 Total FREEDOM!!!!

I did it! I found something I like, that’s fun and empowering and fits my life schedule. Not only am I doing something I believe in, but I feel proud of it as well šŸ™Œ

  • The Village Did Exist

“My partner was working late. Toddler hysterical and unwell, and baby hysterical due to me having to prioritise the passing out from crying toddler.

Phoned partner to come home. He sent my mother in law.

I said, “I feel so crap not being able to cope. You all did it on your own?! Why can’t I?!”

“I don’t know anyone of my generation who raised children alone”

    “Eh?”

“My sisters were all housewives… my parents and in-laws didn’t work. Most of my neighbours were housewives. There was always SOMEONE here. I always had a visitor. And they didn’t just sit and drink tea. They held and entertained kids whilst I did housework, they popped to the shop. They hung washing. They chopped veg. We may say “well we managed” but the truth is. We had a village and there was always someone to help. Elderly neighbours would be happy to come and hold babies, play with older kids or even bake some biscuits. Can’t even knock and ask to borrow sugar now or people panic.”

“But my mum was a military wife and husband always deployed?!”

    “Ask her.”

Mum: “Wives didn’t work or if they did only part time. And there was always someone here. Sometimes it was a house of 10 kids with 3 adults all prepping meals for the week and one sat watching kids. We were never really alone.

The only time I felt alone was with you and your brother but that was 10 years later. And housewives started to be a thing of the past. Retirement was later. It’s hard to be a mum now and have it expected to cope because ‘we had to’ … when really we didnt”

My paternal grandmother always goes on about how she managed it, so I speak to my dad..

“Mum’s Aunty was always around! I can barely remember a childhood day without my Aunty.”

So. Don’t feel embarrassed to ask for help. The village DID exist even if most people forget about it.”

  • NHS Staff Being Fined For Parking When Working

Sat in tears in my car after a long, hard 12.5 hour shift in A&E….

and all for the wrong reasons 😰😢

    UHCW please somebody help !!!

I’m absolutely losing my rag and don’t know what to do.

For the past 8 years I have worked within the hospital and for those entire 8 years I have never EVER been given a parking pass despite multiple phone calls, emails, appeals, basically begging!!

I have had countless struggles over the 8 years trying to get myself to work and back.

These days I have to dump my car out side of the hospital and walk a good 20 min at least in all weathers & pitch black in winter.

I’ve encountered trouble with youths, horrible weather leaving me soaked for 12.5 hr shifts and even had to waddle after my days at work throughout both of my pregnancies within the trust.

More and more of the estates around the trust become covered in red/yellow lines making it next to impossible to find somewhere ā€˜acceptable’ to park, pushing people to park further and further away.

Now for the past 2 shifts I have got back to my car, exhausted, and today soaked, to find 2 parking tickets AGAIN.

Paying £10 a day in the visitor car park is not happening, I have 4 children to provide for!

Please ffs someone help me resolve this utter nightmare I’m in ?!?!?!?!

All to get myself to work and back…. does the hospital have that little respect for me that they think these daily struggles are acceptable for loyal dedicated members of staff?

Honestly, please, someone offer some help or a solution because to be left in tears after a 12.5 hr day at work in A&E because of this is not acceptable.

I love my job but this alone makes me want to look elsewhere 😰 The daily struggle is unreal.

?UHCW- Coventry council- Government – whoever is responsible for this should be ashamed of this poor treatment to staff 😭😭😭😭😭

    *******UPDATE*******

Thank you so so much to anyone showing their support for me on this post. This was originally a private post to air my frustration to my friends. I was asked by a few people to make it public so they can share how bad the situation is and I never expected so many people to be concerned enough to share and comment!

Just a few things to point out now though –

    – Please read the post properly and see that on this occasion I was not parked on hospital grounds so this is NOT a ticket from any of UHCW’s security staff.

Although I have gotten many tickets on site before, this is not a dig at our security staff so please do not make this about them.

    – I was parking with a friends permit on these 2 occasions, on an estate near the hospital, which should have been valid – therefore I am in the process of doing an appeal for both tickets as I believe I should not have got them anyway! Thought I had a temporary solution to my parking issues… apparently I can’t even take my friends kind gesture of help now!

    – To the best of my knowledge, I believe the main problem is that the current car park is privately owned, NOT by the hospital. So it is the private company at fault for the ludicrous daily parking charges and fines on site. They have also introduced a new 10 minute rule where I believe you will be sent a fine even if you are not parked, and spend more than 10 minutes on site šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

    – And finally, again to the best of my knowledge, I believe the main thing UHCW needs is to build a whole new big car park for NHS staff, as right now the demand for passes much outweighs the current capacity. However I believe this isn’t supported by the council —— therefore it seems that these are the main ones needed to resolve the issue!

Although really, this isn’t something a humble band 5 A&E nurse should have to think about. I certainly don’t get paid enough for that !!

This should have been resolved years ago by all these high up, well paid decision making people 🤣

I want nothing more than to drive to my place of work, do my 12.5 hour shift, and drive back home 😊

Thank you everyone for showing some support šŸ™šŸ’“šŸ˜€ xxx
