  • I’m Here To Defend My Wife I Know She’s A Big Girl

I have been with my wife for 18 years and married nearly 16. I have noticed that Body image around weight gain/loss has been one of her consistent struggles over the years.

Going up or down in weight I can confidently say that I have positively supported her throughout the years but unfortunately I have been there to comfort her during the very low moments where I had to wipe tears away from her face. It is my philosophy as a husband when it comes to weight gain or loss for whatever reason We should be their Encourager and Not their Reminder!

Today my wife posted a picture in this full piece swimsuit in which she looked absolutely remarkable 😍 and she received some small cunty ass feedback. She has big boobs (I’m blessed) but get over it. She can’t do anything about it. I can tell you, however, is that she’s agonized over it to makes sure she’s “covered” as much as possible still to this day.

I’m not here to defend my wife, she’s a big girl! What I find strange is that most of those commenters came from women? Come on!! Let’s be more supportive of eachother!! If your 400lb and you lost 10 FUCK YES 🥳🥳 keep it up! If you’re one of those fit fuckers at 115lbs and just hit your six 6min mile FUCK YES 🥳 get it girl! If you’re a mother(or anyone)of three that that finally feels brave to post a pic of herself in a swim suit POST THE SHIT OUT OF IT!!

  • Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Did you know, since the Covid-19 lockdown began in the UK, mums and midwives across the country have seen an increase in the number of babies coming back up to their birth weight by day 5! – Something that has not been seen in decades!

It is totally normal for your baby’s weight to decrease post birth, however in recent years, it’s been known to take up to day 10, or longer, for babies to get back up to their birth weight. This meant, extra measures were advised if your baby’s day 5 weigh-in didn’t reach the expected amount.

Interestingly, what the lockdown and self-isolation has shown us is that without a constant stream of visitors, mum and baby have had a better opportunity for uninterrupted bonding which seems to have hugely helped mums and babies to establish breastfeeding and feed for longer, helping them regain their weight far quicker!

Whilst this evidence from midwives and other professionals is only anecdotal, at this stage, we hope that, once the NHS workload has returned to normal, formal research can look into this data in greater detail as this could have a huge impact on how women and their partners prepare for bringing home their baby and breastfeeding.

  • There’s No Trophy For Labour

    “There’s no trophy Ashley”

The best 4 words my husband could have said to me in that delivery room. It put my whole world as a Mom into perspective. I was in agony and trying to decide whether or not to get an epidural. I had no idea I was already at the very end of my labor and would be pushing Leo out within minutes. All I knew was that I was in pain and couldn’t imagine laboring like that for what I thought would be a few more hours.

I was trying to talk to him between contractions on the verge of tears and he lovingly spoke lots of support and some truth into my universe with, “There’s no trophy Ashley.”

Then when I was fretting about supplementing with some formula those first few days and not wanting to feel like I was already failing at breastfeeding I heard those words again, “There’s no trophy Ashley.”

There it hit me. As moms in today’s world it can feel like we’re all competing for a trophy that doesn’t exist. I literally thought in that delivery room that I would somehow be “less than” as mother for tapping out and asking for the drugs. Like there would be a gold medal or AT LEAST a gold sticker on my medical chart for having a natural birth. And I felt like I was letting some invisible committee down when we bought formula to help him pass the amniotic fluid he had swallowed.

Since having this third sweet boy six weeks ago I’ve given lots more thought to the invisible trophies we create as moms. Some society creates for us. Standards we try so hard to measure up to even though the contest is make believe and we were made to live in community, not competition.

🏆There’s no trophy for delivering naturally vs. opting for an epidural or having a C-section.

🏆There’s no trophy for breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding.

🏆There’s no trophy for losing the baby weight the fastest.

🏆There’s no trophy for cutest delivery gown (FOR THE LOVE, it’s okay to look like you just had a baby!!!).

🏆There’s no trophy for most creative birthday party theme.

🏆There’s no trophy for how many activities you sign your kids up for.

[This list could go on forever]

My husband has no idea how meaningful those words have been allowing me to relax into having a newborn again. And I wanted to invite you to relax into motherhood with me.

🤱Because the only trophy you’ll carry through life is the bond you create with your baby. And like I’ve said before, we all go home from the hospital with a big basket of mesh undies and sanitary pads the size of our newborns no matter how glamorous our Insta pics look.

  • How To Talk To Your Daughter About Her Body

HOW TO TALK TO YOUR DAUGHTER ABOUT HER BODY, A MUST READ!!!

Step one: Don’t talk to your daughter about her body, except to teach her how it works.

Don’t say anything if she’s lost weight.

Don’t say anything if she’s gained weight.

If you think your daughter’s body looks amazing, don’t say that. Here are some things you can say instead:

“You look so healthy!” is a great one.

Or how about, “You’re looking so strong.”

“I can see how happy you are — you’re glowing.”

Better yet, compliment her on something that has nothing to do with her body.

Don’t comment on other women’s bodies either. Nope. Not a single comment, not a nice one or a mean one.

Teach her about kindness towards others, but also kindness towards yourself.

Don’t you dare talk about how much you hate your body in front of your daughter, or talk about your new diet. In fact, don’t go on a diet in front of your daughter. Buy healthy food. Cook healthy meals. But don’t say, “I’m not eating carbs right now.” Your daughter should never think that carbs are evil, because shame over what you eat only leads to shame about yourself.

Encourage your daughter to run because it makes her feel less stressed. Encourage your daughter to climb mountains because there is nowhere better to explore your spirituality than the peak of the universe. Encourage your daughter to surf, or rock climb, or mountain bike because it scares her and that’s a good thing sometimes.

Help your daughter love soccer or rowing or hockey because sports make her a better leader and a more confident woman. Explain that no matter how old you get, you’ll never stop needing good teamwork. Never make her play a sport she isn’t absolutely in love with.

Prove to your daughter that women don’t need men to move their furniture.

Teach your daughter how to cook kale.

Teach your daughter how to bake chocolate cake made with six sticks of butter.

Pass on your own mum’s recipe for Christmas morning coffee cake. Pass on your love of being outside.

Maybe you and your daughter both have thick thighs or wide ribcages. It’s easy to hate these non-size zero body parts. Don’t. Tell your daughter that with her legs she can run a marathon if she wants to, and her ribcage is nothing but a carrying case for strong lungs. She can scream and she can sing and she can lift up the world, if she wants.

Remind your daughter that the best thing she can do with her body is to use it to mobilize her beautiful soul.

  • Society To Working Moms

    Society to working moms:

-Go back to work 6-8 weeks after having the baby. The baby that you spent 9-10 months growing inside of your body. Go back to work before you have finished healing or have had time to bond with your baby. Keep your mind on work, and not your tiny helpless baby that is being watched and cared for by someone other than you. Make sure to break the glass ceiling and excel at your job- you can do anything a man can do! It is your job to show society this! Show the world that women can do it all. Rise to the top of your career.

-Also breastfeed for at least a year. So take 2-3 pumping breaks a day at work, but don’t let it throw you off your game or let you lose your focus.

-Also, lose that baby weight and get back in shape, as quickly and as gracefully as possible. Make sure to get 8 hours of sleep a night so you can work out, work, and care for your family. But also get up at 5 am to workout, unless you want to do it after your kids go to bed when you also need to clean the house and get life ready for the next day and you know, sleep.

-Maintain a clean, pinterest worthy house. Take the Christmas lights down. Recycle. Be Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the birthday planner, the poop doula (seriously when will this end), the finder of lost things, the moderator of fights. Be fun. Be firm. Read books. Have dance parties.

-Maintain the schedule for the entire family. Birthday parties coming up? Make sure to have presents! Ensure the kids are learning to swim, play an instrument, read, ride a bike, be a good human being, eat vegetables, wear sunscreen, drink enough water, say please and thank you. Don’t forget they need to dress as their favorite book character on Monday, and wear something yellow on Thursday. Oh it’s totally your call but most parents come in on their birthday and read to the entire class. In case nobody told you, if you have more than one kid you will need to buy new shoes approximately every other day. See also: winter coats, shorts, pants that aren’t 4 inches too short. There will never be matching socks or gloves for any member of the family, ever again.

-Remember the dog you got before you had kids? Shes getting old now and needs expensive surgery. She also need walking, a new bed, and she smells pretty bad.

-Hey! Kids need lots of doctor appointments. Monthly as babies. Every time they are sick. Specialist appointments, especially if any of them have extra needs. At least two school conferences a year. IEP meetings, if applicable. Parents night. Back to school night. Get to know your school night (what IS this). Most parents are volunteering at least once during the year, would you like to come make a craft with the kids? It will only be an hour or two of your time.

-Sorry, you are now out of vacation time because you used it all for time taking your kids to appointments or when your childcare is unavailable. You should go on vacations though. It’s good to relax and unwind from work. Makes you a better employee.

-Don’t forget the kids need healthy meals (and so do you! you are trying to lose that last 20 lbs before swim season right). That requires meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal prep on the weekend. But also hang out with your kids on the weekend since during the week you only get to hang out with them when they are exhausted and angry that you made the wrong kind of spaghetti for dinner.

-Date your spouse! It’s important to keep your relationship alive and fresh. Try to go out 1-2 times a month. Good, kid free time. Hire a babysitter, they charge 22+ dollars an hour in your area so make sure to take out an extra mortgage and/or work another job to be able to afford this.

-Oh hey you should have a hobby too. It’s important to have “you time”. Also be well read, keep up with the latest pop culture and tv shows, and keep an eye on politics and be able to discuss at least one of the above on the small chance you are out in public and encounter another adult necessitating small talk.

-Make sure to have friends. Social time is SO important. Surely there is an hour or two left in the week after all of the working, appointments, exercising, cooking, scheduling, cleaning, imparting lifelong morals and learning on the kids, the usual. Maybe go out after the kids are down for a glass of wine and a bite to eat. Make it a healthy bite though. And you may regret that wine at your 530 am spin class.

-Self care though. SO important. See also: getting in shape. See the general doctor, the dentist (TWICE), the lady doctor. Prob need to get your eyes checked. Full body skin checks 2+ times a year (just me? okay well). Mental health too. Postpartum anxiety? But you look fine and your kids are so cute. Everyone should have a therapist. Good luck finding one that takes your insurance and has hours outside of your normal working time (out of vacation time, remember?). That leaves evening time when you want to hang out with your kids. But it’s important, so make time for it.

-Don’t wear yoga pants and a mom bun or society is going to mock you in numerous witty blog posts. Never mind that nothing fits. Going to have to get up even earlier so you have time to style your hair, wing your eye liner and search for a pair of pants that fits your new post baby (or multiple baby) shape.

-Get off your phone, turn off the TV, and enjoy your life. Enjoy your kids. THESE ARE THE GOOD TIMES make sure to love every minute of life because before you know it all of this will be in the past.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to lean OUT. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

  • Primark Sizing Problem “Solved”

Chelsea Webster has shocked Facebook users with a revelation about Primark clothing.

How many people have gone to Primark picked up their size and then tried it on and it is unbearably tight, it is not a nice feeling thinking that you have gained extra weight, it can be a complete confidence low, so you try on the next size and it is still a little tight so you end up having to buy a size you never thought you would be in.

Well Webster has discovered a reason behind this she said  “So I got these jeans from primark 3 weeks ago! In a size 12 moaning that they were tight! And to my shock Iv gone to wear them today and the first labels coming off but saw another underneath and there’s a 10 label, so no wonder us girls don’t know whether we coming or going if primark doesn’t!!!! surly that’s wrong to re label sizes forever fat”.

Many people commented on the original post saying they had experienced similar issues with Primark clothing, Sarah Pincher checked some of her buys from Primark and also discovered an extra label.

Some people were offended by the post stating that size 12 is notfat and that Webster as wrong to state that.

However if you have to buy clothing a size up from the norm, it can make you feel larger in your own eyes.

Can you buy your correct size of clothing in Primark or do you also have to buy a bigger size?

  • You Made Your Own Worst Critics And They Call You Mum

I don’t remember my “what to expect when expecting book” mentioning that when you become a parent your every move is judged by your worst critics, and you made them!!!

I always thought I was a pretty, cool and a fit mum, ok yes I admit it I have a bit of flab but haven’t we all, as my children have got older I seem to be wearing less make up, and my clothes are no longer the latest fashion, but I am by no means an old bag lady.

Three year old son “mummy your tummy is like jelly haha” okay I take that on the chin, thanks for that son, awesome confidence boost Not.

But nothing can compare to my 11-year-old fashion diva…

    “Don’t walk like that mum”

    “You can’t wear that”

“You are too old for that”

and the best one is “that is so 2017 no one uses that word/dance/dab anymore”, I had only just got up to date with all the lingo and cool moves and now they are out dated arghh.

Then there are the groans, the funny little noises to show their disapproval. I daren’t even tell them I am really trying my best to be my most ‘normal’ self, there is SO much craziness I am hiding, so many fashion disasters that I can’t bring myself to throw away.

But hey kiddos wait til you have your own children, you will have your own mini critics, and you will miss everything I used to do for you, so throw your insults at me, I know I’m hip, I know one day you will be a “jelly belly” a fashion disaster and a piggy porkie, sausage hawker!!! Good luck kiddo!

  • Don’t Go On Holiday If You Don’t Look Good

Charmaine Steady has received death threats after her controversial and damn right rude post on Facebook, she has since deleted her account.

Steady wrote “Please for the love of all things beautiful think before you go on holiday, don’t go if you don’t look good.

We all enjoy going somewhere hot and sunny and spending our time frolicking in the pool or relaxing in the sun lounger and taking in the beautiful scenery of another country.

Now while we love seeing the sights what I don’t appreciate is seeing fat thighs, bulging stomachs, hair sticking out of the side of bikinis or full on hairy badger armpits.

That’s just the bleeding woman, men shave your down stairs, put bloody swimming shorts and bin the tight speedos, no one wants to see the shape of your shrivelled cock and saggy balls.

We are all on holiday to enjoy ourselves, we plan for it, we prepare ourselves, I actually diet for months before I go, I work out, I tan, I have a full body wax, I’m not saying you can stop being a beached whale well you could if you really wanted to but you can buy swim wear that covers a lot of it, it’s really not that pricey, razors cost as little as a quid, but don’t ruin my special vacation by me having to see the ugly sights, taking photographs and having the permanent reminder of how little you care about your appearance .

Being in holiday is meant to be enjoyable for all, don’t let your standards slip just because you’re in a foreign country”.

Do you think people should make more of an effort on their appreance before a big holiday? Does it really matter how others dress or look? What are your thoughts on Charmaine Steady post?

  • My Son Died But He Didn’t Have to

Any of you on here who pray please keep me in your prayers tomorrow if you can.

Our son was stillborn on 14th June 2017 at 37+6 weeks. Absolutely perfect in every way and not just a mothers love for her child, the autopsy states that every organ, limb, blood vessel etc was formed and functioning perfectly.

At 33+3 weeks I had reduced movements and went to hospital. They performed a scan and discovered a problem with my placenta. I was admitted, put on steroids and told that I’d be staying put. (I also had a history of earlier births with my twins who stopped growing at 33 weeks and were delivered at 33+5 weeks). At this time my son weighed approx 5.5 pounds.

I was nervous but happy with his weight as my girls were much smaller so I thought he’d be fine if delivered soon.

Then 2 days later I was sent home all ok and told to just come back for another scan. 2 days later I was readmitted with more reduced movements. I’d had a total of 3 reduced movements in the space of a week. I was given a Doppler scan which showed everything ok and sent home. The doctor laughed at my concerns and dismissed me.

2 weeks later at a standard appointment I tried to ask how big my son was and was abruptly cut off and told no they wouldn’t tell me. In hindsight had this egotistical arsehole looked he’d have seen that between 34 weeks and 37 weeks my son had gained approx 0.661 pounds when in fact he should have gained at least 2 pounds.

2 days later my son died and I was in labour.

    My world ended.

We were initially told my son tested positive for the most rarest of genetic conditions, but with errors in hospital and sample degrading we couldn’t get a second opinion. This condition can cause stillbirth however the autopsy states that the fact my son had zero physical characteristics it’s not possible to say it caused his death.

The geneticist stated that “your son would have been so intellectually disabled that he wouldn’t have had the capacity to breathe you’re better off he died when he did – the divorce rate among parents of intellectually disabled children is so high”

I just wanted to shout bullshit at her.

My entire argument has been from day 1 I had a scan at week 34 and no further growth/development scans. The only way to check a placenta is working is to do a growth scan. If I was given a growth scan at either 36 or 37 weeks they would have seen he stopped growing and could have delivered him early.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this genetic condition did not affect him in any way, if he even had it.

The point of me sharing this is do not always listen to doctors demand to be seen, force them to check you, do not let them tell you that you know nothing, a mother often knows when something isn’t right, I wish I had made them listen to me.
