  • A C-Section? So You Didn’t Actually Give Birth

A lady named Raye Lee took to Facebook to express her feelings and the post has since gone viral

Lee said: “Oh. A c-section? So you didn’t actually give birth. It must have been nice to take the easy way out like that.”

Ah, yes. My emergency c-section was absolutely a matter of convenience. It was really convenient to be in labour for 38 hours before my baby went into distress and then every contraction was literally STOPPING his HEART.

Being told at the beginning that I was displaying great progress and wouldn’t need a cesarean section… and then being told that I was being prepped for major abdominal surgery was not a shock at all. It had nothing to do with the fact that I physically couldn’t because I was given no other choice to save the life of my child. Oh, and that surgery is super easy peasy to recover from.

    WRONG, That is all sarcasm.

This was the most painful thing I have experienced in my life.

I now belong to a badass tribe of mamas with the scar to prove that I had a baby cut out of me and lived to tell the tale.

( because you can die from this, you know. )

Having a shrieking infant pulled out of an incision that is only 5 inches long, but is cut and shredded and pulled until it rips apart through all of your layers of fat, muscle, and organs (which they lay on the table next to your body, in order to continue to cut until they reach your child) is a completely different experience than I had imagined my son’s birth to be.

This was not pleasant. It still isn’t.

You use your core muscles for literally everything… even sitting down, imagine not being able to use them because they have literally been shredded and mangled by a doctor and not being able to repair them for 6+ weeks because your body has to do it naturally.

When that first nurse asked you to try getting out of bed and the ripping pain of a body cut apart and stitched back together seared through you, you realized the irony of anybody who talks about it being the “easy way out”. So fuck you and fuck how you see what I did.

I am the strongest woman, that I know. Not only for myself, but for my beautiful son… and I would honestly go through this every single day just to make sure I am able to see his smiling face.

  • My Son Had To Learn To Wee Again After Hospital Blunder

I took my son to the ER at Pouder Valley Hospital because he had a tummy ache around 3am so once I get there doctors asked basic questions then decide to get some blood & urine test, the doctor tells me ” I figure because he’s 2 yrs old he won’t pee in a Cup I will just order in a catheter” so as a parent I trust he knows what’s right for my son … I allowed a couple of nurses to come in and do the catheter, they tell me before “it’s a super fast procedure” so as I hold my son down and another nurse.. they proceeded to insert the catheter I noticed they began to struggle and then they decide to switch nurses and 2 other nurse enter .. (now my son Is Completely awake & in pain) so then I noticed the first nurse was being trained to insert her first catheter in a child 😡 & nobody informed me of this so then the 2nd nurse also couldn’t put it in so they decide to keep try & force it in this is where I should have stopped everything but they kept telling me “Almost got it ” .

My son is fighting them then the 4th nurse comes in and finally forces it in and gets the urine and send me home with no information of how this could affect him as soon as I get home my son just starts crying in pain screaming not peeing running jumping I call the hospital I tell them the symptoms they Tell me this is normal … So after a few hours I decided he is not okay and this is NOT normal I take him to the same ER they see he’s in Excruciating Pain & do an ultrasound and see he has a lot of urine and say it’s now an emergency to take the urine out so AGAIN attempt to insert a catheter 3 other Fail attempts I’m crying and holding my son while he’s begging them to stop I ask them to give him something he should not be going thru this awake he’s in so much pain so then a nurse tries to do an IV and also fails at it!

My Son Had To Learn To Wee Again After Hospital Blunder
My Son Had To Learn To Wee Again After Hospital Blunder

Then they decide to inject morphine in his thigh as she pulls out the needle she cuts his leg with it! I’m beyond pissed then say we need a professional to perform this he needs to empty his bladder and they can’t do it .

As I arrive to the Children’s hospital they call a urologist he comes in and says because of the traumatic entry of the catheter they blocked his valves to prevent him to urinate on his own the urologist put my son down and with no problems got a catheter in so for 3 days my son could only pee with a catheter connected to a bag .. now my son is home but it took a while for him to get the hang of peeing on his own the first 2 days he could only pee in a tub with warm water.

The hospital that did this just sent me an apology letter . For you New parents Don’t be afraid to say No and to try less traumatic procedures, try first all simple less painful options ask questions I learned the hard way as a first time parent I’m not sharing this for likes or attention but to simply save another child from this common mistake we make as parents .

  • Living In Hell Whilst My Child Is In Heaven

The worst loss of all Living In Hell Whilst My Child Is In Heaven

I want you to try to imagine the worst thing in the world that your beloved child died… Let me explain to you the reality…try to imagine, if you can, never seeing your child again, never hearing her laugh, never hearing the sound of their voice, never smelling the scent you have come to recognize as your child.. Never hearing them say “I love you”…nothing – just silence, emptiness.

Now imagine never seeing your child’s smile, never seeing her upset or happy, never watching her sleep…missing them so much that you are twisted up inside and the pain stays with you 24/7, you smell their pillow, their clothes, you look at her pictures and can only cry – what happened, why!?.. You have never felt longing like this in your life! Longing to hear her voice, to see her face again, and to know deep in your soul you cannot fix it.

Now imagine every single thing that used to give you joy and pleasure turns into hurt and despair overnight. Not a gradual thing, but going from pleasure to hurt, from happiness to sadness, from peace to no peace, changing overnight. Everything you loved now hurts like hell…

For example: music, I used to love music, it gave me pleasure, I didn’t realize how much music was a part of my life and how it is everywhere, now I cannot listen to it, it sears me like a red-hot knife with the pain of losing my child, it cuts me wide open.. like the old song, the day the music died, that’s me, and believe it or not, almost every song reminds me of the void in my life without my child, I am not unique in that pain – if you lost a child you would know.

That is just one little example of how your life is affected by the loss of your child. Just ONE example! You feel the loss with every thought, every emotion, and the loss bleeds into every aspect of your life even with your other children, you still love your other children just as much as always, but as hard as it is, even they hurt you now, because when you see them you feel the LOSS, the loss of the child that died not being with their siblings. It doesn’t’ fit, there is a piece missing, your whole life doesn’t fit anymore.

Everything that felt right, now feels wrong, and of course there is always the missing, the horrible gut wrenching, out of your control missing…

As good parents we were always able to fix things or make things better for our children… this we cannot fix, cannot make it better. So on top of everything else you are feeling, you also feel helpless…out of control and hopeless…and this is universal, every parent that truly loves their child will feel this. Are you starting to imagine now how it feels? and you are doing this exercise for 10 minutes, imagine, really imagine, feeling this way 24/7 –

Day after day, month after month, and no matter what you are doing or who you are talking to, a tape of your child plays over and over in your mind. you’re a baby, a laughing happy little girl, a cute young teen, a wonderful young man or women and it always plays in your head and you do not want to forget even a single second of your beautiful child’s life…but that is a fear you have, that as time passes you will start to forget…so now, please add FEAR to the list of emotions.

This is what it really feels like. a part of you has died, don’t just read the words, FEEL them – died, gone forever… a real, beautiful, living part of you has died… and you are still living, left behind to try to pick up the pieces of your shattered life and not having a clue where to even begin. No wonder a high percentage of marriages break up, parents have breakdowns, turn to alcohol, drugs or a destructive way of life. NO WONDER!!!!!

A part of you does not exist anymore and it is scary as hell… that is why they say the loss of a child is like no other loss… you cannot compare it to another loss, with other losses you grieve and you are of course sad, but when your child dies, a part of you ceases to exist, gone just like that, gone no warning, just gone.

And the life that you knew, the things you always felt, the things in your life that made sense, that you held on to, that makes up who you are – are Gone!!!

That is why when parents who have lost children hear “I want the old you back”, “it’s been a year (a month, 6 months-whatever), and don’t you feel better yet?” “You are doing this to yourself, you’re making it harder on yourself”, “grief can become a selfish thing you know”, we can only shake our heads and feel sadness and hopelessness, because there is no way our lives will ever be like it was when our child was alive.

No wonder bereaved parents isolate themselves; we are just trying to hold on. So were you able to imagine for 10 minutes what it must feel like? Even 2 minutes is too long to imagine the unimaginable, to feel the pain, I would not wish it any anyone, but did you get a sense of how Life changing it is?

Imagine you feel this 24/7, not even getting a moments relief from it! Now go on and put on your favorite CD to listen to, enjoy the music…go home and hug your child, listen to them laugh, watch her smile, smell the scent that you know is them and please do not tell me how I should feel or that I am holding onto this, or that my friends/family must be tired of watching me go through this, because if you haven’t lost a beloved child of yours, you haven’t got a clue.

Now when you hear these words “the presence of her absence is everywhere”, will you finally understand?

  • Pregnant Woman Almost Died After Baby Kicked Through Her Uterus

Pregnant Woman Almost Died After Baby Kicked Through Her Uterus

A pregnant woman narrowly avoided death after her unborn child “kicked” through her uterine wall. Fortunately, the mother and newborn baby both survived this exceptional mishap.

The uterus is connected to the fallopian tubes and the cervix

The woman, was in her 36th week of her pregnancy. She was sent to Hospital on the 17th of October 2016 after suffering from severe stomach pain, the hospital reported in as long with her intensifying abdominal pain, doctors also noted problems with her blood pressure, pulse, and breathing.

The mum had  surgery, just a few months before becoming pregnant, to remove fibroids from her uterus. These are non-cancerous growths that can grow along the wall of the uterus. After discovering this in her medical notes, the doctors quickly carried out a scan where they diagnosed a “high degree of suspected scar rupture of the uterus”.

After making this diagnosis, it took doctors just 5 minutes to rush the mum into a operating theatre. They found the babies legs poking into her abdominal cavity through a 7-centimeter rip in her uterus.

The doctors said the woman’s previous surgery left scar tissue in her womb, leaving the uterus wall far more at risk of breaking/ripping. This is known as a rupture pregnancy.

These are thought to affect less than 5 in 1,000 pregnant women who have previously had a C-section, the risk is far lower for first-time mums and for women who haven’t previously had a C-section. It’s even rare to experience this after having surgery for uterine fibroid.

In this case, both mum and baby were at a huge risk of infection. Thankfully, doctors managed to deliver the baby with complete success. The mum and her baby are now said to be happy and recovering well.

This phenomenon is exceptionally rare but not unheard of, we are all just thankful that the doctors worked so quickly and mum and baby are doing well.

  • Furious Mother Hits Out At Facebook For Banning A Photo Of Her Sick Daughter

Furious mother hits out at Facebook after a photo of her toddler is banned – because her rare skin condition looks ‘undesirable’ and would make others ‘feel bad about themselves.

A furious mother has hit out at Facebook after it banned a photo of her one-year-old daughter, who suffers from a rare condition that causes her to break out in blisters at the slightest touch.

Rhiannon Atkinson, 30, posted pictures of Pippa’s feet to raise awareness of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) – which strikes one in 50,000 people.
But she claims the social media giant sent her a message branding one image of her daughter, who is left in unbearable pain due to the condition, ‘undesirable’.
Facebook told Mrs Atkinson, who can’t cuddle or even hold her daughter’s hands, that such pictures are banned because they make users ‘feel bad about themselves’.
The offending image is of Pippa’s foot and reveals the extent of her condition – around 90 per cent of her hands and feet are without skin and red raw.

Mrs Atkinson has previously spoken about how she has to restrain Pippa when she dresses her in bandages to stop her catching any deadly infections. She finds it upsetting as it goes against her motherly ‘instinct’.

Mrs Atkinson, from Cwmbran, South Wales, said: ‘I went back to them [Facebook] to say that’s ludicrous and that we were trying to highlight my daughter’s condition.
‘Even after they reviewed it they were still not willing to change their minds.
‘People have told us the images make them feel sick – that’s fine some people have nothing better to do than pick on a baby.
‘But for a huge corporation to say that – that stunned me.’
    What did Facebook say?
Facebook said that the image Mrs Atkinson was trying to use ‘depicts a body or body parts in an undesirable manner’.
It also said that adverts should not depict certain body weights as being ‘perfect’, or any health conditions as being ‘extremely undesirable’.
As examples, it used ‘close-ups of “muffin tops”, where the overhanging fat is visible’, people with tight clothes and conditions painted ‘in a negative light’.
It also said that ‘adverts like these are not allowed since they make viewers feel bad about themselves’.

Furious Mother Hits Out At Facebook For Banning A Photo Of Her Sick Daughter
Facebook has been contacted but did not respond at the time of writing.
Pippa gets 50-60 blisters a day. She has to have nappies lined to stop them rubbing and numerous different creams applied in an attempt to reduce friction.
As she grows, and develops the urges to crawl and walk, her hands, knees and feet constantly have to be bandaged, Mrs Atkinson said.
Pippa takes morphine and paracetamol to cope with the pain. Some days she needs sedatives to relieve her.

A nurse and carer rolled into one
Mrs Atkinson said: ‘I am Pippa’s nurse and carer all rolled into one. In some ways when I am dressing her she must hate me because I am causing her so much pain.
‘But on the other hand, if she’s upset, I’m the person she looks for.
‘I dread the day when she can tell me to stop doing something because you always have to get her dressings finished.’

Mrs Atkinson, speaking last month, said: ‘As soon as she was born her hands and feet looked as though someone had taken her and dipped her in boiling water.
‘They were red raw and she was whisked off to intensive care.
‘Being told your child has an incurable condition is incomprehensible, it broke my heart.
‘But then not being able to touch her, or cuddle her for five months was torture.
‘I’d never known anyone with this condition so it was a complete shock when we were told it was going to get worse.’

    Plan of aftercare
Mrs Atkinson stayed with Pippa and husband, Damian, 36, in hospital for 23 days as nurses decided to best plan of aftercare for their baby.
Once she was discharged from hospital, Pippa had to have her hands permanently bandaged for four months, and her feet bandaged for almost nine months.
Mrs Atkinson added: ‘When she was born I couldn’t hold her for five months, she was always on a pillow.
‘Not being able to cuddle your new-born baby is the worst feeling in the world but it would have caused her too much pain.
‘When we would touch her, especially her hands and feet, she would scream out in pain and you could see the true agony on her face.’

    Bandaged up each day
In hospital, Mrs Atkinson had to bandage her daughter’s hands and feet four times each day. She was trained by specialist nurses.
She now knows how to bandage and clean Pippa’s skin thoroughly in the comfort of her own home to reduce her risk of infection.

Mrs Atkinson, from Cwmbran, South Wales, said: ‘I went back to them to say that’s ludicrous and that we were trying to highlight my daughter’s condition’.

Mrs Atkinson said: ‘She now has blisters on every inch of her body – on her eyelids, in her hair, her mouth and up her nose.
‘So we have to clean the house at least 10 times a day, because if dirt gets into her blisters it can cause infection.
‘Whenever she gets a blister me and Damian have to restrain her so that we can get the fluid out of her skin.
‘That goes against every natural instinct in your body – having to hold your baby down and know that you’re hurting them.’
Alongside all of the maintenance that the family have to endure to keep Pippa safe, it is also a struggle to let her do simple day-to-day things.
Mrs Atkinson said: ‘For months she could only wear her clothes inside out, as the seams caused her to blister.’
Now she has clothes which are custom-made without seams. Every day Pippa has full dressing changes. These can last up to two hours.
Her blisters are lanced with scissors, dead skin and scabs softened to remove them without damaging new skin underneath.

Mrs Atkinson, who gave up her banking job to care for Pippa, said: ‘She is now nearly 14 months old and hasn’t started to crawl or walk yet.

Furious Mother Hits Out At Facebook For Banning A Photo Of Her Sick Daughter
‘Because of her blisters the pressure on her knees or feet would cause too much pain.
‘Every normal process takes ages too – it takes over 20 minutes to change her nappy because of all of her creams and lotions and 45 minutes to have a quick bath because we’ve got to get all of the scabs off of her.
‘I have to change her clothes six times a day too, because her skin bleeds so easily.
‘She wakes up at least four times every night screaming out in pain because she’s moved and hurt a blister or touched her skin in her sleep.’
    Her condition is slowly improving
Despite Pippa’s condition covering her whole body, Mrs Atkinson has noticed that she is slowly getting better.
Mrs Atkinson, who is now trying to raise awareness of the condition, added: ‘Luckily, we can cuddle her every day now as her EB has slightly improved.
‘Because Pippa’s condition is genetic, I’ll never have any more children just because of the risk.
‘I wouldn’t change her for the world and we are doing everything in our power to ensure she leads a long and happy life.’
Earlier this year Pippa fought off Streptococcal A which can cause meningitis. She is battling that again at the moment, along with Streptococcal G.
Pippa’s family are now raising money to build a one-bedroom specialist extension to make looking after the toddler easier.
If you would like to donate towards Pippa’s cause you can do so via their Just Giving page.

  • Adoption-My Personal View

I was placed into care at only 9 months old, my biological mother was an alcoholic and not able to care for me properly.

My adoptive parents had tried to conceive naturally and through IVF for over 10 years, my mum had polycystic ovaries and my dad a low sperm count.

My adoptive parents then tried to adopt (this was back in the late 80’s), they went on strict parenting courses, had their finances looked into, their home inspected and were on a waiting list for 10 yes 10 years, just as they were about to give up their adoption agency phoned.

My mother answered the phone and was told that they had 2 siblings available to adopt a girl aged 3 and a boy aged 4, they needed a decision by the next morning.

My mum and dad decided that they wanted me and my brother, a week later I had a trial sleepover at their house and 3 weeks later I was living with them.

It took a year before it was official and I was legally adopted.

Growing up I never felt any different from any other child at school apart from that my parents were older than all my friends.

When I hit my teen years I started to wonder about my “real” parents, I began resenting my adopted parents, thinking I would have been better off with my real mum and dad, how much more fun and less strict they would have been.

I was horrible to my adoptive mum, on one occasion she tried to discipline me, I shouted at her that she wasn’t my mum anyway. I could see the hurt in her eyes and will always regret saying that.

It wasn’t until I was a lot older I found out the reason why I was taken in to care and lost all interest in meeting my womb donor.

I did however track down my biological dad who had no say in my adoption.

On the day I gave birth to my first child, there was only one person I wanted to call, only one person I couldn’t wait to see..my mum.

She is not my adopted mum, she is not some woman who couldn’t bear children, she’s my mum, my rock, the woman who put up with my childhood tantrums, stood by me throughout my teen years and the woman who made me who I am today.

Yes I have my biological dad in my life and I love him to bits, but my adopted dad is the man I call father, the one who taught me how to ride a bike, the man who comforted me when my heart was broken and knew just what to say to make me laugh.

So what I’m trying to say is adoption shouldn’t be the last resort, a bad thing etc it is amazing, it is hard but my good is it worth it. To all you adoptive parents out there I thank you for giving children a place in your heart and in your home.

  • Endometriosis Speak Out

In October 2005 I had my first child aged 21. A few months later my periods became extremely heavy lasting up to two week, several months after that I started experiencing sever right side pain almost every day. I was referred for ultra sounds and nothing was found. 3 ultrasounds and numerous blood tests later I was referred to gynaecology.
On listing all my symptoms the consultant decided to book me in for a laparoscopy. This was November 2006. The diagnosis was endometriosis.
The following couple of years I was a guanine pig, tablets after tablets, surgery after surgery. I went on to have a child in 2009, and 2011. Then I was started on injections (rolodex was the first one for 6 months, then prostap as zolodex didn’t help)
It was decided in Feb 2012 to preform a hysterectomy as I had tried every pain relief, coil, injection going.
At my pre-op however there was one complication … I was pregnant! So any more surgery was delayed!
I had my daughter in sept 2012, and the pain returned instantly. Unfortunately they were unable to do a hysterectomy for 12-18 months so In may 2013 they did a TCRE (trans cervical resection) this was now my 10th surgical procedure in 7 years. To this date I had been an inpatient 37 times for surgery, pain management etc.
I requested to see a different consultant in December 2013, and I was lucky to get an appointment in Feb 2014 with Jane Moore one of the top pelvic pain specialists. On my first appointment she ordered an MRI scan as she believed I had Add to dictionary… the results showed she was right.
Adenomyosis is the same as endometriosis but it is in side the uterine muscle rather than outside.
Because of all the issues I had, she decided to do a total hysterectomy (uterus, tubes, ovaries and cervix) this was booked for December 18th 2014.
The day of my surgery arrived.. I was 30. I had many mixed feelings, could I live with the pain incase I wanted another child? What if my sisters couldn’t carry a baby, I wouldn’t be able to help… would I feel less of a women?
So I had my surgery.. within 48 hours I was rushed back to theatre because I had internal bleeding and lost 1.5litres of blood! 3 blood transfusions and 3.5 hours in surgery later and the emotions hit! BUT from that day on, I’ve never had pain again.
8 years of agony, 8 years of not knowing if I could physically get up and take my kids to school, 8 years of bleeding so heavily that I would soak through even maternity pads in 10 minutes… I was better!
Most people will never know what people with endometriosis go through, how debilitating it can be. But there is hope. Some people are lucky and pain and symptoms can be managed with medication, some are unlucky and need several surgeries or at worst a hysterectomy.
