  • Embarrassing Mom Moment Of The Month

Embarrassing Mom moment of the month 😶

I have all three children with me at Walmart and the worst happened.

    My belly started gurgling and I needed to use the potty… Nope I’m not talking about pee-pee. I’m sure all my moms out there can agree that it is not a pleasant experience toting children into a public bathroom with you. I’m rushing all of them into the biggest stall (ha, rushing? I really meant shoving them because they want to be as slow as humanly possible. While touching everything on the way in there). As I finally get all of them into the stall I clip Lyric into the little chair thing as fast as I can. I hollered for her brother’s to stay right next to her, grab a toilet seat cover and plop down. As I breathe a sigh of relief that I made it, this is the very loud conversation my children had in the echoing public bathroom;

Landon- Wow Mom you really needed to poop bad! What did you eat?

Liam- I think Mom ate poop because it smells like poop really bad

    Random shopper- *giggling*

Me- Boys, be quiet right now!

Landon- Mom, is it diarrhea or just poop?

Liam- it’s probably diarrhea because she needed to go really bad!

    THEN IT HAPPENED!!!….

Landon- *Yells so loud it echoes 10× over!*

    COURTESY FLUUSHHHHH!

Liam- *almost in a song* Courtesy Fluuuuuush!

I don’t know how many Random Shoppers but for sure more than one- *laughing out loud*

    Me- 😨😭😲

After I finished, I waited for a while hoping everybody that witnessed what happened had already left. I walk out of the bathroom and I noticed a pair of familiar shoes from the stall that was next to us standing outside the bathroom. Then as if it wasn’t already bad enough Landon looks up at me and says, “Mom do you feel better? I always feel better after I take a good poop.” 😕

Oh nothing is sweeter than a child’s honesty 😣

  • If You Kill An Unborn Child You Cannot Be Charged

    Jamies Bill:

Our aim is to put a legislation into place or change the child destruction act (1929) that was made regarding backstreet abortions that used to take place, in the eyes of the law your child does not count as a victim of any crime unless your pregnancy has passed the 24 week gestation period, this means if you kill an unborn child you cannot be charged with the murder of that child, you cannot be charged with assaulting an unborn child.

Many suffers of domestic abuse and those who have been assaulted have had premature labour induced as a result of this, premature labour carries many risks in itself however the perpetrator who committed this crime will not be charged with any extra assault charges or murder if the incident that took place happened before the 24 week mark, morally i know many will disagree with this however in the eyes of the law your child is not a person yet and therefore the perpetrator has not committed any offence by killing it and the only charges they will carry are those committed against the mother of the child.

The law doesn’t see your child as a person until 24 weeks. A childs heart starts beating 22 days after conception, the heart beat is visible onscreen after 5 weeks, by 16 weeks you can find out the babies sex. Children should be recognised as life when their heart starts beating, the gestation time stated in the law should be moved to 16-18 weeks as that is when a baby stops being an “it” and starts becoming a “he” or a “she” this is when babies start becoming an individual and so this is when babies should be recognised as life. A new legislation needs to be put into place to protect those lives that can not yet protect themselves. So many mothers don’t get the privilege of raising the child that grew inside them due to no fault of their own, its a privilege every mother deserves and yet not every one gets to have.

Here in the UK we do not yet have a law that covers crimes against unborn children before 24 weeks, the “unborn victims of violence act” under American law recognised unborn babies as victims of homicide at ANY stage of development not just 24 weeks and onwards. A similar legislation practiced by 38 states called “foeticide” also recognises those under 24 weeks as victims of crime.

The child destruction act covers abortions after 24 weeks however abortion is legal under the Abortion act 1967 so adding a further legislation similar to the “unborn victims of violence act” does not directly effect abortion laws as the act protects those against CRIMES and due to the Abortion act- abortion is not a CRIME and therefore any who have an abortion before the 24 week mark stated in the law cannot be charged with the violence act as they have not committed a crime but any abortions after the 24 week mark is an offence in itself. I strongly believe we should put this “unborn victims of violence act” into practice to protect those lives who cannot yet protect themselves, any babies who die as a result of abuse, assault or any other related crimes should be recognised in a court of law. The law should put away abusers, assaulters and anyone else who causes a death of a baby after 16-18 weeks. The most basic human right is that everyone has the right to live and so real jail time needs to be available to everyone and anyone who takes this away especially from a defenceless child, together we can ensure that justice gets served for all the babies lost whilst their mother struggled against another, child destruction shouldn’t be so lenient, a life is a life and should be recognised as such by everyone

Change the requirements for chargeable offences under the child destruction act or add the “unborn victims of violence act” to protect the lives of the innocent.

  • Please Don’t Risk Your Children’s Teeth

Listen people, survivor bias is absurd. So don’t even start with that. If you give your kids a gallon of milk or juice for bed, and their teeth are perfect, then be grateful. BUT don’t dismiss the kids who aren’t.

understand that this is like anything else. Car seat safety, safe sleep etc. bad things had to happen for the guidlines to exist. So YES this is a thing. NO your children shouldn’t have ANYTHING other than water after they brush at night. Milk and juice is full of sugar and if you give it at bed it literally sits in their teeth. So guess what? It ROTS THEM!

Yes other things can play a part in it. Genetics, not brushing properly, etc. BUT you can also not have bad teeth, still take care of them and STILL get bottle rot!!!

    SO JUST DONT RISK IT!

Working in childcare, I’ve seen this firsthand. From good parents that take very good care of their kids teeth. But still gave a cup of milk at bed “for comfort”. Well now they’re comfortably spending thousands in dental work. 3/4 of my toddlers have caps an ALL of their teeth. When you see a toddler like that, 90% of the time, this is why.

  • No Child Is The Same But Please Second Born Child Go To Sleep

    Why can’t you sleep?

Have you ever heard the saying ‘no child is the same’ ? When I found out I was pregnant with my second daughter I thought it was going to be a breeze, just like it was with my first. She slept through the night from 5weeks and was in her own room by 3months (with me checking on her every 5minutes and constantly watching the baby monitor).

Then that’s when I heard this saying for the first time, I didn’t think anything of it, is just thought ‘oh it’s fine I will get her into a routine from a young age and she will sleep through the night just like her big sister’ well how wrong was I?

I got into the routine of either letting her sleep on me or tapping her bum to get her to sleep. She would wake in the night and I would just tap her bum or pick her up – big mistake! I decided to put her in her big sisters bedroom and hope she would sleep through.

She slept a lot better, she went every 4-5hours instead of every hour. This was an improvement, I was happy. She started to get older and nap less and less but still didn’t go through the whole night. I tried everything. She is now 2 and half.

She gets up every morning without fail at 6am, no matter how many times she got up during the night before she still gets up at that time. She no longer naps and goes to bed at 6pm at night. No matter how late she goes to bed or how much I wear her out during the day she does not sleep through the night. No matter what I do she don’t sleep longer that 4hours. So next time you hear that saying, don’t be silly like me and think your child will be like their older sibling.. because I can tell you now, they won’t!

  • How Can You Not Worry When Your Child Has Just Died

    A parents worst nightmare

It was a normal Sunday evening. We had a busy morning me and my daughter. We went to the zoo and then she had a birthday party in the afternoon. We got home and she said she didn’t feel very well, so I told her to go and lay on the sofa, chill and watch some television.

I finished my washing and cleaning the kitchen and went and joined her for cuddles before bath and bed. She had her head in my lap and I was thoughtlessly playing with her hair whilst watching a film she enjoyed.

Then all of a sudden she felt awfully still, I thought maybe she was asleep? Tad bit annoyed because she needed a bath for school the next day so I stroked her face trying to wake her. She didn’t respond. I stood up and she just flopped onto the sofa, ok now I was worried.

I put her on the floor in the recovery position to which she didn’t stay in. She started having a seizure. Right there in front of my eyes. I rang 999 and told them they need to get here, I couldn’t talk.

I couldn’t get the words out what was happening. I gave them my address and a agonisingly long 4minutes had passed and they was here. She had to be sedated. We got into the ambulance and she had another seizure, this time it was only for a couple of minutes and then she went still, dead still.

I have never seen people move so fast. Her heart had stopped, felt like mine did too. They were able to get her heart pumping again as we arrived at the hospital. I was told I wasn’t allowed in with her until she was settled and they had done tests.

It turned out my daughter had a ear infection and a chest infection. Not once did she complain about any pain in her ear or have any sort of cough. They gave her antibiotics and said she would make a full recovery and no sign of any brain damage or anything to worry about. WORRY ABOUT?! My daughter just died a few hours before and they don’t want me to worry?

The also informed me it was not a seizure it was another febrile convulsion but this one just made her heart stop, it was too much for her. I felt guilty for the anger, for not knowing she had an ear infection and chest infection. As a mother I will always blame myself when it comes to my daughter. As a mother this was the worst day of my life.

  • I Am So Scared When My Daughter Gets Sick

I’m scared when my daughter gets sick.

Everyone gets sick. The young, the old, the rich and the poor it’s just the way of life. I never really gave it a second thought until my daughter caught a chest infection.

This was a normal thing for her, she has a weak immune system and got every cough, cold and sickness going around. I had learned to live with it up until she was about 18months she caught her usual chest infection, back on the antibiotics again.

She couldn’t go to nursery because she was not on them for long enough so my friend had her for the day while I went to my FIRST DAY back at work. I was so excited but so scared to leave her.

The day went brilliant, I rang my friend on my lunch break and everything was fine. I then finish work at 5, to 10missed calls and a lot of texts and a video of my baby girl helplessly laying on the sofa. My daughter had been rushed into hospital because she had a raging temperature and was having a febrile convulsion.

I went straight to hospital obviously but what I didn’t do was prepare myself for what I was about to see. My beautiful little girl laying on the bed with tubes coming out from her. She was not breathing on her own, she just laid there, still with nothing but a nappy on.

Nothing would ever prepare me for that moment, I crashed to the floor and just cried. I just wanted to cuddle her and tell her that I loved her so much and I was sorry I wasn’t there. So much was going through my mind, I was blaming myself for everything. Why did I go to work? Why did I leave her?

What sort of mother leaves their sick child? I couldn’t answer these questions, even to this day I can’t. I just wanted a better life for my daughter, a life I dreamed of and never got.

A long 12hours passed and she started to breathe on her own, she woke up! She was groggy and just wanted the tubes and everything out but she was breathing! A few days had passed and she was getting stronger and stronger, eating well and keeping food down.

The next day she was allowed home! A few months passed and she got tonsillitis, I have never been so scared in my life. More convulsions and more hospital trips. This happened for a few years. No matter what I did to keep her temperature down when she had a infection, nothing worked.

I asked her to be tested for epilepsy but they wouldn’t allow it because she would only have these convulsions when she had some sort of infection and a high temperature. She is now nearly 7 and has not had a convulsion since October 2016. Even though it has been nearly 4years I still get scared when she gets sick.

  • Why Is It Now Sociably Acceptable To Be Fat?

Do you ever walk passed someone smoking a cigarette, weed or vaping and instantly feel disgusted?

Well that’s how I feel when I see fat people eating in a restaurant, out and about or even snacking on a dirty greasy fatty snack!

Only the other week I was sat in a play centre when a morbidly obese woman came in with what I assumed was her grandchild… the said woman was in a mobility scooter with her stomach hanging down to the ground, sat on her lap was a kfc bargain bucket.

We spent a good two hours there and decided to having a McDonald’s dinner, we were there for a few minutes and I only see the obese woman sat in there now scoffing down a Big Mac.

Now I’m not anti fat people I understand there are people out there with glandular problems or Polycystic ovaries etc, my issue is with those who don’t help themselves and make me feel sick.

Why is it  now publicly acceptable to be fat… take the Simply be adverts for example, what they are really saying is don’t worry about looking after yourselves anymore we got clothes to fit ya no matter how fat you get!

My view is if you are in a pub and the bartender deemed you to be to intoxicated he can refuse to serve you, why can’t fast food places do these with the obese… “hey look, your stomach is nearly touching the floor how about a salad instead of the extra large greasy meal”.

Do people no longer care about their health, their appearance, their smell (yes fat people smell) or the eyes of others around them!

Come on people let’s stop pretending this issue is ok and to love the skin you are in coz that bull will make a nation of unhealthy and unattractive people.

  • Serious Warning About The Dangers Of Popcorn

Now that I’ve had a chance to sit and reflect on a very unfortunate but eye-opening event that our family encountered. I wanted to share our experience because as I’ve shared the story so many people were shocked and unaware of the bad effect popcorn can have on a toddler. Last Saturday night we were all watching a movie and eating popcorn which is a very frequent event on the weekend in our home. I didn’t think twice to give Nash popcorn. Nash had small choking episode but was fine. We didn’t see anything come out so we assumed he swallowed it.

He seemed completely fine and continued to watch the movie. The only thing we observed was a cough he developed after the episode. The next day he was fine but still had a weird sounding cough which concerned me a little. I just assumed he was catching the same crud we had all been going through. Monday came, Jake left for a 3 day trip and it was pretty much the same as the day prior. As the evening came I noticed Nash felt warm and he was super fussy. He had a fever, so I gave him Motrin and put him to bed. A very long night with him and then his breathing looked a little labored to me and he just didn’t feel good. I called my pediatrician immediately and said Nash needs to be seen ASAP.

We went in and got sent to children’s main campus immediately. After a chest X-ray the dr didn’t like what he saw so he got scheduled that evening for a Bronchoscopy. Thankful for the wonderful company we work for, they got Jake on a plane and back to Denver. At 6pm they put Nash under and performed the procedure. I paced and cried the entire time my little man was in surgery. Jake arrived at the hospital just in time to go to recovery and see nash. He had aspirated popcorn into his lungs when he choked.

The body recognized it as a foreign object and put puss pockets around it. All the inflammation caused him to develop pneumonia in his left lung. During the procedure the dr got out 6 pieces. There was so much inflammation so the dr wasn’t 💯 he got it all so scheduled him to be admitted and repeat the procedure in 2 days. It was a an up and down roller coaster but we were in the best care. The second procedure was done and once again poor guy had to be put under and rolled off to surgery. The dr met us when it was over and said procedure was successful and he got the last piece out. Nash was a rockstar and recovered well. He had to go one hour on room air oxygen with out his o2 dropping under 90. He passed and we were discharged that evening.

If I wouldn’t have trusted my instinct and brought him in, the outcome wouldn’t have been good.

We’re so thankful our little man came out ok. All of this over popcorn which is eaten on a regular basis in our home.

I got a lecture of course on how popcorn isn’t supposed to be given to anyone under 5. I hate to use the excuse he’s our third child so I overlook and don’t pay as close attention to the do’s and dont’s as we did with our first.

Please no negative judgment on this post, I wrote it as an eye opener for people to see how something that you think is fine can quickly turn into something bad! Always trust your gut because it’s right!! I want to thank all who stepped in to help, whether it was taking our girls for a night, or letting our dog out. The constant phone calls and texts to check on us meant a lot. We have a lot of special people in our life.
