My Covid 19 Story

Ok. I thought I’d wait to at least see how things were going before I posted my status.
On Monday after work I fell really ill. I know I’m a drama queen sometimes with man flu but something was definitely wrong. Monday night was horrific.

Tuesday I booked a drive through covid test. Probably shouldn’t have driven myself and mounted the kerb 4 times. Was so tired when I got home I went straight to bed again. Marie checking my breathing and temperature which by this time had gone up to 39.8. Luckily for me while I was asleep she rang 111. Went through the call and 4 hours later a doctor rang.

Went through more questions and advised me to go to A and E.
I’ve been on a drip and oxygen since. And had chest X-ray , ct scan and bloods taken. Which confirmed I had infections in both lungs and the consultant confirmed I had covid 19.
Which was a good job because my drive through test came back negative ! (They’re only 70 percent accurate you know).

I’m so grateful to Marie for ringing 111 and sorting it. If left to me I wasn’t really sure what was happening and totally out of it. And who knows if it had been left another couple of days.
The treatment I’ve had since I’ve been here has been truly amazing. They really are angels. Even the man nurses.

From seeing my neice Melissa-Marie when she saw at the end of her night shift I had been sent to resuscitation and came to talk to me and reassure me for a little while, through giving consent to being put to sleep for an indefinite time to be put on a ventilator if required and I took a turn for the worse to my mate Shane ringing me and telling me his wife Sam is on the next ward and will drop me some things off tomorrow as I’m not allowed visitors. You lot are amazing.

From what I’ve seen in a very short space of time it’s staffed by the most amazing caring people. And we should be proud of every one of them. I certainly couldn’t be prouder of the friends and family I have in the nhs.
I clapped again at 8 pm out of my window once more. But this time from the inside of a hospital looking out. The night doctor said to me “you really don’t need to clap, the fact you’re getting better is all we doctors need.”
So just a heads up guys, anyone on my Facebook still thinking this a load of made up shit to put phone Masts up …

Anyone saying Boris was on oxygen for a week so it wasn’t too bad and probably didn’t have it?…….
I’ve sort of been there and You’re wrong……
And anyone not clapping or showing appreciation for our amazing nhs ? Not social distancing cause you don’t think it’s serious? Dying to hear the word “unlock “ so you can resume the stupidity it took you weeks to get out of ???……
Don’t care if I’ve known you from birth.
Save me the bother will you ???
I’m a 52 year old bloke who will openly admit to crying several times in the last few days and has been humbled once again by people’s kindness.
I’m sharing a ward with a 73 year old fantastic guy called ken who went in queens 6 months ago for his toe off because of diabetes and is sat across from me with one leg now and after all that tested same as me for covid. Listening to him crying on the phone to his lovely wife because she can’t visit him and he misses her.
There’s always someone worse off isn’t there.
Stay safe . Protect the NHS. They’re amazing. Thanks for your messages of goodwill those who knew……..
And sorry to disappoint some of you but…

…….I’m getting better by the way.

There Are Still Great People In This World

“My husband and I were in the ER and an elderly lady was wheeled out to leave. She told the receptionist she had no family or ride home. I was saddened to see some (not all) of the employees lack of concern as to how she would get home.

All of the sudden this AMAZING gentleman who had been waiting with his wife approached the lady and told her he would gladly take her home. This man not knowing her or having a clue where she lived volunteered his time to care of this lovely woman. She offered to pay but he kindly declined like any good man would. As he went to get his truck I wheeled her out and put her in the vehicle.

As I watched them drive away my only thoughts were ‘there are still great people in this world’ ‘and ‘We have to care for our elders like this nice man.’ I did get a little info from his wife. His name is Jeffery and he is military here at Ft.Campbell KY.

Not only does this man serve our great country, he serves his great little community. I just wanted to give a little recognition and respect to this man. Jeffery, if you see this, just know your deeds are recognized and appreciated by your community. Thank you Sir for serving our country and our community.”

Elderly Man Left In Hospital Waiting Room

Do NOT take ur loved ones to memorial hospital in Modesto!!! My dad was released at 4am this morning on his own w/no phone, car ,money, or even means to walk or stand on his own!

I instructed his nurse to call me AS SOON as he was released so I could pick him up but they NEVER did..my 70yr old father was Rolled into a waiting room & left there FOR SEVERAL HOURSSSS waiting for a ride that would’ve never came..I was told he was released an, ‘left on his own”@4am because he was “alert”. I then informed them that he COULDN’T have left on his own because he can’t walk, &I was his only ride! he didnt even have a phone to call anyone!

After the 3rd time of calling an demanding they check the waiting room, bathrooms, they said he was gone! Finally the 4th time I called back an spoke to someone else they found him in the waiting room..I rushed bck to Modesto to find out he had been sitting there in pissed pants for over FOUR HOURS bcuz he wasn’t even able to get himself to the bathroom.

On top of everything else some lady sitting next to him stole his walker!!(right in front of security)There was only a handful of people in that waiting room how could they not notice a 70yr old man,pee’d sitting there for several hours?!!!!! Without even checking on him or assisting him!! Unacceptable! He was released with pneumonia, a fever, and completely drugged up on morphine! DO NOT TAKE UR LOVED ONES TO THIS PLACE! #pleaseShare

How Can You Not Worry When Your Child Has Just Died

A parents worst nightmare

It was a normal Sunday evening. We had a busy morning me and my daughter. We went to the zoo and then she had a birthday party in the afternoon. We got home and she said she didn’t feel very well, so I told her to go and lay on the sofa, chill and watch some television.

I finished my washing and cleaning the kitchen and went and joined her for cuddles before bath and bed. She had her head in my lap and I was thoughtlessly playing with her hair whilst watching a film she enjoyed.

Then all of a sudden she felt awfully still, I thought maybe she was asleep? Tad bit annoyed because she needed a bath for school the next day so I stroked her face trying to wake her. She didn’t respond. I stood up and she just flopped onto the sofa, ok now I was worried.

I put her on the floor in the recovery position to which she didn’t stay in. She started having a seizure. Right there in front of my eyes. I rang 999 and told them they need to get here, I couldn’t talk.

I couldn’t get the words out what was happening. I gave them my address and a agonisingly long 4minutes had passed and they was here. She had to be sedated. We got into the ambulance and she had another seizure, this time it was only for a couple of minutes and then she went still, dead still.

I have never seen people move so fast. Her heart had stopped, felt like mine did too. They were able to get her heart pumping again as we arrived at the hospital. I was told I wasn’t allowed in with her until she was settled and they had done tests.

It turned out my daughter had a ear infection and a chest infection. Not once did she complain about any pain in her ear or have any sort of cough. They gave her antibiotics and said she would make a full recovery and no sign of any brain damage or anything to worry about. WORRY ABOUT?! My daughter just died a few hours before and they don’t want me to worry?

The also informed me it was not a seizure it was another febrile convulsion but this one just made her heart stop, it was too much for her. I felt guilty for the anger, for not knowing she had an ear infection and chest infection. As a mother I will always blame myself when it comes to my daughter. As a mother this was the worst day of my life.

Diabetes It’s More Deadly Than I Ever Knew

I wanted to bring awareness to something I didn’t know ANYTHING about and it’s more deadly than I ever knew.

Type 1 diabetes!

My son (23 month olds) 2 months ago was diagnosed with T1D and I didn’t know the signs at all. I want to help prevent DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis, can be fatal if not treated, coma, swelling in the brain) or low blood sugar (untreated, severe low blood sugar can be very dangerous. It can result in seizures, loss of consciousness, or death) if I can.

The ONLY SIGN my son showed was peeing a lot. He would wet through his clothes and his bed within a 2 hour period. When we brought him in his blood sugar was 462 (normal should be 100-180 depending on age of child) and was borderline DKA. We had to stay 2 nights and 3 days in the hospital to learn about our new normal. We had to also take a test at the end of our days to see if we could take him home with us. T1D is not a joke.

And no he didnt get it from eating to much sugar or junk food. T1D is an autoimmune disease that he will never outgrow.

If you are experiencing any of these with you child PLEASE get them checked.
