Football Mums Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way
If your child is currently in or has even been in a football team you may relate.
I have two sons Harrison 11 and Elijah 7 both who are in football teams.
My weekends are no longer my own, we have training on a Friday night and I know some poor parents in other teams train bright and early on a Saturday morning.
Every Sunday during the coldest months of the year I am forced to get both my boys to matches some being a great distance apart, I often have to plead with other parents to take one for me and then feel immense guilt that I missed their match.
Now I forgot to mention I have a younger child who hates football, so on a cold Sunday morning I stand in the middle of a muddy field with my daughter moaning she is cold and bored and now been forced to get her expensive horse riding lessons as compensation.
My boys NEED not want but need the latest football boots, there are subs to pay, coffees to buy and the perk of some venues selling bacon butties, and yearly signing on fees so it can cost a fair bit, sometimes they need sponsors for new kits or want you to help with bake sales or fundraising events.

Football Mums Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way Now I’m painting a negative picture here, we love it (ok not my daughter) but I have no interest in football at all but seeing my eldest scoring the winning goal or my middle son making a cracking save is a huge adrenaline rush.
I become fierce mama at the side of that small football pitch cheering my boys on and root for the entire team, it is a huge commitment but one that is worth while.
You become a unit, the children become firm friends and the parents support each other and their children.
So yes it’s cold, yes it’s expensive and takes over your weekends but any proud football mum wouldn’t have it any other way, so if you’re thinking of signing your child up for football be prepared to get cold and wet but feel happy and proud at the same time.

Teeth Whitening – When to Stop – Don’t be Ross!
So you want to get your teeth whitened, but you don’t know what shade of white you want; we understand! It can often be a troublesome question with an equally elusive answer. On the one hand you obviously want to go whiter, but how white is too white? Should you be subtle or should you go all out and get the “dazzle your friends in the dark” look? Our answer is a simple one: DON’T BE ROSS.
We have all seen that episode (and if you haven’t seen that episode and are feeling confused as you don’t know who Ross is, get out from under your rock travel back in time and watch Friends!) where Ross gets his teeth whitened to impress a date. In this episode, aptly named “The One With Ross’ Teeth”, he leaves the gel on for a little bit longer than is instructed and ends up with teeth so white they would blind Jesus.
Now of course going very white can suit some people but you must take into account a variety of factors and no, wanting to impress a date is NOT one of these factors!Your skin tone and complexion, your hair colour and your eye colour should all play a very large and important part in choosing a new shade for your soon-to-be pearly whites. If you have to don makeup to negate the glare from your gums then you my friend, have gone too far.

A general rule of thumb is to first start with your skin tone and complexion, as these aspects of your face are of course dominant in setting the rules of colour (as is the case with foundation et al). If you are light of skin then you can go with a whiter shade for your teeth, this is because your teeth will blend in with the rest of your face and will assume a natural position without looking out of place, garish or otherwise ridiculous. If you have a darker complexion then we would advise you to avoid the very white end of the spectrum, VITA shade B1 for example. This is because when you have your teeth whitened half of the art is to have them not look like they have been whitened, you want to maintain a natural balance! If you engineer it so that your teeth look unnaturally white, then you will draw too much of the wrong type of attention!
This being said, we want you to do you. So if you want to get the whitest shade of white then goddamn it you get the whitest shade of white! If you are unsure as to what shade will suit your face and your complex best, your dentist will be more than happy to make a recommendation; they will have whitened a lot of teeth, so they’ll know what looks good and what looks scary! Though of course, the choice is entirely yours.
That all being said, this is not a good look people!!

I Am Your Forgotten Friend
I am your forgotten friend.
We may have known each other for years. I’m in your circle of Friends, the group, the squad, but I’m nobody’s favourite.
I get invited and I always show up and we have a good time, but would anyone miss me if I wasn’t there?
When it comes down to sitting around the table nobody says oh I’ll sit with you. When it comes to getting in cars, I’ll be in the front next to the driver, nobody wants me in the back with them.
They’ve got their favourites, everyone’s got a favourite in their group of friends, except I’m nobody’s favourite.
I’ll have a smile on my face people say they have had a good time, but would it make a difference if I wasn’t there? Nobody knows how it feels, not in my group of friends, I don’t think anyone would ever choose me.
I dread the group chat, I want to put my opinion across, I really do, but it feels like nobody hears me or sees me. I’d love to send a message and talk about how my day is going or what I’ve been doing, but no one would reply, it seems like they never do, not when it’s me.
Even when it comes to the little things like selfies, I’m the pictures, I’m in the group shots! But the single pictures just you and me, that never happens. There will be a selfie of those two girls or those three girls, but there’s no me and someone. It’s always everyone and I’ll be in the back.
Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful for my friends, I’m grateful that I have friends I just wish they were grateful that they had me.

I Never Wanted ‘Mummy Friends’
Gylisa Jayne’s Facebook post is going viral and it’s clear to see why. She tells us of her situation and for so many parents it is far too familiar. Too many of us think we can do things alone, or that we should suffer in silence. This is simply not the case.
I never wanted ‘ Mummy Friends’.
I didn’t want to sit in noisy soft plays, or talk about different coloured shit.
I didn’t want to have knowledge about best nappy brands, or know exactly how many fanny stitches we all had.
I had a preconceived idea that Mummy Groups were vicious cliques, and I hadn’t been in one at school – I didn’t plan to start now.
I didn’t need them anyway, I had my soul mate – my baby daddy. The man I had chosen for this journey. He would be there for everything. I didn’t need anyone else.
Then I had a baby, and I needed someone.
The network I should have had, simply wasn’t there.
My midwives were too busy, I hadn’t met any of them twice.
My Health Visitor was a vanishing woman – still talking about phone numbers and triages and children’s centres id never heard of as she walked herself out. Never to be seen again. Then there was my partner. My chosen mate. The first love of my life. The man that knew what I needed before I did.
Only he didn’t understand me anymore.
He was trying to figure out his Dad Role.
He didn’t understand why I was crying
about putting the kettle in the fridge. 🙈
He didn’t know why I’d forgotten to take the parcels to the post office.
He didn’t know why I had no love left over for him.I didn’t want ‘ Mummy Friends’.
Until I realised that no one else would understand me like they did.The ones that had been there, done that.
The ones that were fumbling through for the first time – just like me.
The ones who had had every argument you can imagine with their husband.
The ones proving you didn’t need to lose yourself along the way. That you’ll find a new you as you go.The ones who needed me just as much as I needed them.
I made them laugh, and they made me howl with our observations of this bizarrely fabulous and horrendous journey.
There was no clique, just women loving women – despite what you might have heard.
I had love left over for my partner again then. Because he might not get it – but there were scores of women that did.
So I didn’t want ‘Mummy Friends’…
I needed them.
