  • Having Children With Different Fathers Doesn’t Make Me A Bad Parent

HAVING CHILDREN WITH DIFFERENT FATHERS DOESN’T MAKE ME A BAD PARENT

I’d always felt inferior to other mums about being a single parent when they were married or had a partner… until now.

See, I’m part of a lot of groups on Facebook, most of which include parents who ask for a lot of advice about their children, living situation, partner etc and honestly, some people still never cease to amaze me with some of their responses (I mean, to be fair, if you ask a stupid question, expect a stupid answer or some backlash)… but this one post in particular really hit me, hard.

It’s not often I get irate or provoked by something on social media, but I’m not going to lie, I was furious at the enormity of the ‘Perfect Parent Brigade’ and the way they spoke about this situation; a situation most single mothers are currently in and often, through no fault of our/their own.

(A situation nobody ever wants to be in, just let me add).

“Any mums out there who have children with more than one father?”

Aaaand we’re off! (You can almost hear the ‘Perfect Parent Brigade’ marching in!)

Whilst the majority of single parents are commenting and saying they do have multiple children with different fathers (like I do and because the post is clearly asking this), we also have the “in a relationship but not engaged” mothers, the engaged mothers and the married mothers who pipe up and give their (unwanted) two cents – AKA the parents who can possibly do no wrong!

“I just can’t imagine having a different father to my three children”, “Sorry, but why would you want your children to have different surnames, especially at school?”, “I don’t understand why some people keep having children with different men.”

Yeah, well, I couldn’t imagine doing that either love, until it actually happened to me.

Oh oh oh, and… I think I speak for all single mothers when I say… SHIT HAPPENS.

Listen love, I didn’t plan to have two children with two fathers; I planned on buying a house, being married with three children (with the same guy) and living on a farm by the time I was 28.

    And guess what?

Life doesn’t work out that way sometimes and that is OKAY.

    Who’s to know if it’ll work out? You don’t, I don’t, they don’t.

I could be married to the same man with three children and he could pass away or suddenly up and leave with no warning (which does happen), which means I may end up meeting someone later on and choose to have another baby with but that would be okay, wouldn’t it? Because you know, I was married.

So, why isn’t it okay for someone to have two children with two fathers, or three children with three fathers? Why is that such a crime?

It’s 2018, it’s more common than it ever was, yet people still continue to judge.

Do you genuinely believe we set out for this, that we wanted our children to have different fathers and surnames to each other?

Why should a woman who’s always dreamed of having a large family be told to stop having children because she’s been dealt a shit hand with men?

Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, I do get that some parents abuse the benefits system and I believe that having a child whilst on benefits already is unfair, but they’re the people who give parents like us a bad name; but, benefits are there to help people who need it until they’re back on their feet – we’re not parasites of society or leeches.

We’re trying our best for our children, just like the ‘perfect parents’ are, too.

We have good intentions and we’re good people, we’re not inferior to you or less of a mother than you because we don’t own a home, or because we’re not married, or even because our children have different fathers and surnames.

Regardless of what anybody may think, my children are brother and sister and they have the same bond that siblings from a ‘traditional’ family would.

They have a mother who loves them unconditionally, who cooks for them, who educates them, who provides a clean home for them, who does her very best for them and who one day hopes she can settle down with the right man and possibly have another baby because that’s what happens when you meet someone isn’t it? You want to believe it’s for forever.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t.

So tell me, why am I different to you?

Having multiple fathers to your children is hard work and I would change it in a heartbeat if I could – it’s a battle every single day… but that doesn’t mean I don’t deserve another chance at happiness or to carry another baby because I always have hope that one day, my children and I will have that.

You shouldn’t ever judge a parent for their living situation or family situation because one day it could be you; there are no guarantees in life, I promise you that.

  • This Is Mum, Mum Is Helping Kipper To Read

This hilirious post written by a page called I know I need to stop talking has gone viral and for good reasons, it rings true for so many parents across the world

    “This is Mum.

Mum is helping Kipper to learn to read.

    This is Kipper.

Kipper has no intention whatsoever of learning to read.

Mum sits down on the sofa and tells Kipper to come and sit next to her with his book.

Kipper leaps onto Mum’s lap, elbows her roughly in the groin and knocks half a cup of cold tea over her.

Mum wipes cold tea out of her cleavages and asks Kipper to open the book.

Kipper tells Mum that he is “thirsty, so thirsty that I think I might DIE”.

    Mum gets Kipper a drink.

Mum asks Kipper to open the book.

Kipper tells Mum that he is going to wet himself “if I don’t go to the toilet right NOW”.

    Kipper goes to the toilet.

    Kipper comes back.

Mum asks Kipper if he washed his hands.

Kipper goes back to the toilet.

Mum asks Kipper if he washed his hands with soap.

Kipper goes back to the toilet.

Mum and Kipper sit down to read the book.

Mum reads the title of the book.

Kipper loses his shit because he didn’t get to read the title of the book.

Mum tells Kipper to calm the fuck down and asks him to read the first word on the page.

Kipper stares at the page for roughly half an eternity.

Mum checks that Kipper has not gone into some kind of hypnotic trance and suggests he tries reading the first letter instead.

    “D,” says Kipper.

Mum wildly applauds and tells Kipper to read the next letters.

    “D…A…D,” said Kipper.

Mum inwardly rejoices at the child prodigy she is clearly raising.

“And what does that say?” asks Mum.

    “D…A…D…spells……………….. PINEAPPLE!” shouts Kipper.

    “Fuck my life,” says Mum.

There are two sentences and six words on the first page of Kipper’s book.

It takes forty-two minutes to get to the end of the first page.

Kipper is yet to sound out a single word with even the vaguest modicum of accuracy.

Mum’s soul was leached from her body and systematically shredded into tiny confetti-sized pieces approximately forty-one minutes and fifty-five seconds ago.

Dad comes home and sees Mum and Kipper on the sofa.

“Reading together!” exclaims Dad. “What fun! Aren’t you lucky, having time to do that!”

Mum explains to Dad where she plans on inserting Kipper’s reading book the next time he makes a fucking moronic statement like that.

Mum leaves Dad and Kipper with the reading book and goes into the kitchen.

    “G…I…N,” sounds out Mum.

  • Dad, Thank You For Leaving My Young Mum

Dear Dad, Thank you dad for leaving my young mum, she was 17 when you left her, living at home with her parents my grandparents.

You said you would always love her, you said you would support her and were so happy to become a dad.

But you were 18 and still wanted to go out and have fun with your mates, you didn’t want the responsibility of an infant son.

You split with my young mum, you saw me very rarely and eventually not at all.

Dad I’m 26 now and have young of my own, thank you for leaving my mum and teaching me all the things a dad shouldn’t be, thank you dad for leaving and making my mum so strong.

My mum may not have raised such an awesome son and wonderful father had you stayed.

So thanks again Dad for being a role model in your own special way, your grandchildren have a father who would never leave their side, a father who understands what it is to be a man.

Thank you Dad for leaving my young mum I’m glad you didn’t get to walk by my side and show me how little you cared, I never got to sit by the door and wonder if you would actually keep to your visit, my mum never had to make excuses for you.

Dad from a young age I knew you weren’t coming back and for a while I questioned what I had done for you to not want me, but this was never about me this was all about your own selfish wants.

Dad I am better than you and ultimately it’s because of you.

I hope you’re reading this and think that I am strong, I do not want to meet you I just want you to know you were oh so wrong and you are the one who missed out.

    Thanks again dad for leaving

  • Dads Are Important To- Keep Your Rants To Yourself

Dads get such a bad press on social media and by multiple mums and woman around the globe but dads are important to (depending on his behaviour). .

There are some terrible fathers out there, some total losers, some wasters and some abusers but what about the wonderful dads?

One scroll through a Facebook mum group and you will see dads being slated left right and centre, especially on Father’s Day or at Christmas, but is it necessary to blame all men for one mans wrong doing or even to rant on social media on dads special days, surely on the likes of Fathers day we could keep our opinions to ourselves.

There are dads out there begging to be a part of their children’s lives and often there is no good reason why they can’t be apart of their children’s lives other than the mum is bitter about the break up and is denying the father his rights to see his off spring.

The second a mum rants about her partner or her ex most replies are “leave him” or he’s a waster you’re better off without him and a lot worse, sometimes we all need to hear the whole story to be able to make a judgement, just as not all men are bad not all woman are innocent and nice.

Dads Are Important To Keep Your Rants To Yourself
Dads Are Important To Keep Your Rants To Yourself

Woman across the world are tarring all men with the same brush.

Let’s remember ladies there are dads out there raising children alone, men who support their ex’s financially, mentally and even help with diy around their ex’s home, who spoil the kids and attend every school play, special event and remain civil and respect the mother of their child.

There are men raising children which aren’t theirs and doing an amazing job to.

There are fathers who are fantastic, who are hard-working, who are supportive, so come on ladies let’s show the good strong amazing dads some credit.

Don’t label all men the same, find out the facts before we all judge and remember good dads, step fathers, partners and male relatives can provide a huge positive impact on your child’s well-being.

Share this with an amazing father.

  • You Ain’t No Dad To My Kids, You’re Not Even A Man

You think you’re a dad aye? You may have a child whom calls you daddy and runs up to you when you arrive home from a long day at work but you did not make that child, You Ain’t No Dad To My Kids, You’re Not Even A Man .

Your child is here with me, remember me I was the one you swore to love forever, remember me I was the one who gave birth to your beautiful son.

Do you remember your son he’s the one who looked up to you and loved you unconditionally. He still misses you but I guess he’s just a distant memory to you.

Two long years have passed since you last saw him, two long years since you supported him in any way.

You choose another woman over me, which hurt me I’ll admit, but what did OUR child do?

No one has stopped you seeing your own flesh and blood but your too busy playing daddy to another mans son.

I don’t want you back, I don’t need your money, but your baby boy, your splitting image wants his daddy in his life.

You can’t just push a child to one side when a new relationship comes along.

You remember that saying, a dog is not just for Christmas well it goes for children too, a child is not just for the length of the relationship.

Wake up woman if your man drops his kids by choice he is no man at all.

There are some wonderful caring brilliant fathers out there who take their role as daddy seriously, there are dads out there who would sell their soul to be able to see their child but a bitter ex makes that impossible, there are fathers raising children alone, you sir are a real man and the world wishes there were more like you.
