  • Working With Anxiety And Other Disabilities

Today I would like to speak about something that is really rather personal, but is perhaps one of the most important things that I will write and that is how I deal with my disabilities and anxiety in the workplace. For those of you who do not know me, I suffer from ADHD, OCD, Asperger’s syndrome, Tourette’s and anxiety and I currently work as a fast food cashier at a local drive-thru. I’ve been working at this place since June of 2018 where I am a full-time employee I have been very well received by both customers and the colleagues that I work alongside.

Even though there is a lot of positivity that goes my way when I am at this job, there are still things that I struggle to cope with that I would like to explore and share with you. I will not be speaking about the individual disabilities because at the end of the day, they are all parts of me that work together to create the cocktail which is maintaining balance in my life.

The first part of back to cover is the anxiety part because this creates a feeling of self-doubt and self-deprecation to the point where I do not feel like I’m working hard enough, even though my manager and my colleagues say that I’m one of the hardest workers. There was always as part of me that feels I could be completely perfect and this part of me is what drives the stress and anxiety to the point where whenever I make a mistake, compared to how other people deal with it becomes a very big deal for me. In essence, the mistake is somewhat small from the perspective of my co-workers, but to me with the perfectionistic ways that stem from the OCD, whenever something goes wrong there is a feeling of anger towards myself. There is also an element of regret because of the fact that the mistake can cause a lot of problems and can even cause stress for my colleagues. This extreme anxiety that I struggle with means that there is always a small part of me that is doubting everything that I touch and I do.

The way that I deal with the anxiety is mainly through reassurance from others because when other people tell me that I’m doing a really good job and that I’m succeeding in everything that they expect from me, it really helps calm me down. I have tried dealing with anxiety on my own without reaching out to anybody, however the problem is this particular method is that the emotions associated with that can get pent up to the point where it turns from anxiety into anger. Whenever I spoken to people when my anxiety is at it’s worst and I’ve held it in, calming me down to be one of the most difficult things possible because all of the emotions circle around my head like an endless loop to the point where even when I’m not on shift, my brain is constantly thinking about the mistakes of that day. Getting that reassurance from other people that I am doing good at my job without forcing them to say that I’m doing well, is perhaps one of the best ways I deal with it.

The other element is the disabilities side of things because if I’m absolutely honest, whenever the disabilities are at a fever pitch and I’m struggling with them, there are times when I just wish that I would never have been born with disabilities. But then I do realise something quite important, which is without the disabilities, without is the things that I have to battle against every single day, I would not be me. Who knows what I would have turned out to be and the biggest thing is would I still have the same personality, love and care that I share to all the customers at work and to my family. No most likely I would not have the same personality and perhaps I would be someone that I would never want to be. At the end of the day, even though disabilities are difficult for me to handle at work, the major thing that makes me happy to help the disabilities is that the personality and the amount of love that I have everything that I do would not be there and also the intelligence that I have regarding my job with also so potentially be absent.

Overall, anyone with disabilities can achieve anything that they want and for me working full-time being appreciated for the hard work that I do is one of the biggest successes of my life. There are days where things are unbearable and sometimes wishful thinking changes my perspective on the anxiety and the disabilities, but knowing that everyday I win the battle against these and I’m able to work a full time job to the best of my ability, that alone makes it worth it. If you take anything from today’s blog, that will be never underestimate the ability of someone with disabilities because if you give them the opportunity, you might just find someone truly special and someone who can represent the workplace in a positive way. My message for anyone who’s struggling with disabilities is that never give up because I could have easily have given up, but I have a degree and I have a full time job.

  • An Eye Opener For Dads About Breastfeeding

So every time my daughter latches on to my wife’s nipple she makes this “Ah sh!t, this hurts,” face. I’m looking like seriously you’re not use to it by now, she doesn’t even have teeth, suck it up chump lol. 🤷🏾‍♂️ BOY DID I have NO CLUE. So yesterday my daughter was losing her damn mind looking for the boobie milk, you know like a crack fiend.

My wife was at the gym, so I carried her downstairs to make a bottle. While we’re waiting for the bottle to warm up, I’m shirtless and Nubia is laying on my shoulder she starts moving her head all crazy then just starts to suck on my clavicle. I laugh and go you’re not going to get anything from there buddy. Son!!!! Her suction turned into some blood sucking Dracula type sh!t.

I’m like WTF😳 I’m trying to pull her off me like… fck, fck get off me! I wanted to toss her off me like she was a demon child lol.😂 Listen man she had some newborn vampire, type strength. I quickly make her the bottle like here little focker HERE! I go in the bathroom and look at my neck and this was the result. WTF? Listen I WILL NEVER TALK SH!T to my wife ever again, these babies are DANGEROUS. Guys I want you to NEVER EVER, EVER…EVER, EVER underestimate the power of a mother.🤦🏾‍♂️ From birthing a child to breastfeeding YOU SIR are NOT built for this type pain. #PleaseSitYoAssDown 😂😂😂 #GirlDad #TheChroniclesofNubia

Update: It’s been a little over 24hrs and this post has been shared over 125k times and liked over 70k times. Wow, I am in utter shock that so many people liked my nipples 😂 (just kidding). No seriously, I never knew sharing one of my parenting experiences with my daughter would go viral like this, this is insane. I have been a parent all of just two months, I haven’t even broken the ice lol. I truly appreciate everyone who has shared, commented, and liked this post. Though I wish our Tricks to Travel course went viral like this, since our course helps teach people, especially parents, how to save thousands on their travels. My wife and I have traveled to over 100 countries together and we can’t wait to travel as a family and share those experiences as well. You can follow our family’s journey and find our course at www.Roadto100countries.com.

Anyhow, back to this viral post. Though, I had to learn the hard way, 🤦🏾‍♂️ I hope this post serves as an eye opener for other Dads out there. Please cherish, respect and never underestimate the power of a mother. Though mothers seem to have the greatest multitasking skills in the world, Dads please HELP out. Change some diapers, cleanout the breast pump cups, take the kid(s) for a few hours, make dinner (or pick up food if you can’t cook), just BE SUPPORTIVE. Yes, parenting is hard on everyone, but especially on mothers. Until a man can birth and breastfeed a child, trust me guys we have no clue. Thank you again everyone for sharing and liking this post. #GirlDad

  • Tesco We Need To Talk About Your Sanitary Products

    Tesco!

I have been wanting to talk to you about something for a while but haven’t really worked out the best avenue to take and given the power of social media thought here would be best.

I wanted to ask you about 100% cotton, disposable sanitary products. Tesco has a great range of brands and products for female sanitary wear but unfortunately none of them are cotton. I am one of many that are very conscious of the chemicals and effects they can have on your body, that are in the brands you currently stock and sell.

I’ve been on a little mission recently, educating other women on the things they use every single month and how they can be irritating existing conditions and creating them. I’ve had a fair few converts already to the cotton train and more jumping on it all the time.

This post isn’t to put down what you already provide but instead to ask you to consider stocking a more natural brand. With boots currently being the only supplier that is the most accessible it’s quite frustrating that others aren’t following suit.

Do you think this is something you could consider?

  • Please Don’t Risk Your Children’s Teeth

Listen people, survivor bias is absurd. So don’t even start with that. If you give your kids a gallon of milk or juice for bed, and their teeth are perfect, then be grateful. BUT don’t dismiss the kids who aren’t.

understand that this is like anything else. Car seat safety, safe sleep etc. bad things had to happen for the guidlines to exist. So YES this is a thing. NO your children shouldn’t have ANYTHING other than water after they brush at night. Milk and juice is full of sugar and if you give it at bed it literally sits in their teeth. So guess what? It ROTS THEM!

Yes other things can play a part in it. Genetics, not brushing properly, etc. BUT you can also not have bad teeth, still take care of them and STILL get bottle rot!!!

    SO JUST DONT RISK IT!

Working in childcare, I’ve seen this firsthand. From good parents that take very good care of their kids teeth. But still gave a cup of milk at bed “for comfort”. Well now they’re comfortably spending thousands in dental work. 3/4 of my toddlers have caps an ALL of their teeth. When you see a toddler like that, 90% of the time, this is why.

So today is all about me. Below, is what we all put on Facebook after 8pm on our Birthdays cos we like to give folks time

Thanks tons to all that have wished me a Happy Birthday via social media, in person, by post, fax, carrier pigeon or smoke signal.

    It means a lot.

Maybe though, we should all be more honest and finish our post like this: ⬇️

To those who haven’t quite got around to it yet, I know you meant to but something else probably cropped up. It’s ok, I’m here all week.

If you actually can’t be fucking arsed or don’t want to, that’s ok too. I forgive you…….Actually. No I don’t. I hope you get syphilis you absolute piece of shit.

I mean, seriously. How long does it take to type happy birthday whilst your taking a fake shit at work? Cos let’s face it. You’re looking at your fucking phone while you’re sat on the bog anyway.

You’ve got 48 hrs or that’s it…..we’re done, you and me.

    *disclaimer.

Not begging for Birthday wishes. Just an observation of what most people think when looking at FB Birthday wishes at 10pm……or maybe that’s just me.

Anyway. If you wish me happy birthday. It’s appreciated.

  • Babies Are Supposed To Wake At Night

    I 👏🏽don’t 👏🏽care 👏🏽what 👏🏽your 👏🏽mom 👏🏽groups 👏🏽or 👏🏽pediatrician 👏🏽say 👊🏽😤

Do NOT use cereal in a baby bottle to make your child sleep longer.!!!

🗣BABIES ARE SUPPOSED TO WAKE UP AT NIGHT.

    💥REPEAT.

🗣🗣BABIES ARE SUPPOSED TO WAKE UP AT NIGHT. ‼️🗣🗣🗣

Babies are genetically engineered to wake up in the night to prevent them from getting into too deep of a sleep which can lead to SIDS.

Basically what happens is they’re in such a deep sleep that they can’t wake themselves up when they’re having trouble breathing. You don’t want your baby to be in that deep of a sleep until they have the motor skills that will help rescue them, then the SIDS risk is greatly reduced.

We know that many are probably tempted to try the old “cereal in the bottle” trick to gain an extra 1 hour (heck even an extra 20 minutes.) of sleep. We also know that this is one of the biggest and possibly one of the more dangerous practices you could engage in. <— read it AGAIN!

It is not a good idea because you may throw the “I’m full” instinct off kilter; more importantly, babies have been known to aspirate cereal when cereal is mixed in a bottle with formula or breast milk. Babies who are younger than 6 months old seldom know how to properly swallow anything other than breast milk or formula and gulping or “inhaling” a bottle with cereal in it may have deadly consequences.

❗️NOT TO MENTION RICE CEREAL IS A FILLER AND HAS ZERO NUTRITIONAL VALUE. ONLY EMPTY CALORIES FOR YOUR BABY. ❗️

The “I did it & my child survived” quote is old. It’s ignorant and a sorry excuse for not educating yourself 😑😤🤦🏽‍♀️

  • Loving Someone With Depression Isn’t Always Easy

Tyler: “Loving someone with depression isn’t always easy. My beautiful, perfect wife has been through so much in her life.

Between a rough childhood and giving up our daughter for adoption at 16, it isn’t a surprise that she suffers from depression. People always question me, “why are YOU with HER?” Are you kidding? Without her, I am nothing. She is everything to me and more. She is the ying to my yang.

The peanut butter to my jelly. I know it might sound corny, but it’s true. She makes my life better, even if she suffers from depression. I’ve created a safe place for her. A place where she can lay her head on my shoulder and tell me when she’s not okay.

A place where she can tell me exactly how she’s feeling and I listen, every time. She’s not afraid to tell me these things. & because I have created this safe space for her, she was able to tell me when she started having suicidal thoughts.

I might not always understand why, but that’s not important. What’s important is that she was able to come to me for support and we were able to get her the help she needs.

Depression and suicidal thoughts do not make her any less of a beautiful, loving person who deserves nothing but the best. It may be hard at time but I promised to love her through sickness and in health.

Through thick and thin. I pray everyone that suffers from this also has a safe place, a safe person, who they can confide in when they feel like they can’t go on anymore. I love my wife to the moon & back and see her as nothing less than perfect, even with her depression. Forever and always” ❤️

  • Warning To Parents Do Not Use These Wipes

❌ WARNING TO ALL PARENTS ❌

    Do not use these wipes!!!

I bought a whole box of them from Asda, Burgh Heath as they are currently on offer. Biggest Parenting Fail!

Two of my children (including my 6 month old) we used them on both experienced burns to their face immediately after using them. I even tested them on myself and my face was on fire 🔥

I looked on the Johnsons website for contact info and whilst there saw what bad reviews this product has!!! Loads of

children had suffered burns to their skin after using them! Absolutely shocking! This is meant to be a reputable brand, and the product is extra sensitive & hypoallergenic. Although my children don’t have sensitive skin they had a very bad reaction!

I went into Asda last night to discuss with a manager, who took forever to come to the desk and then could not care less. Told me her child had used them previously and had no issue 🤷🏻‍♀️ Took the box from me with no intention of taking my details and offered no refund or follow up. It was not about the money…..I wanted to make them aware of the issues with the product and hoped they would remove the product until it had been investigated to prevent any further harm. They shirked all responsibility and I was informed it’s Johnson’s problem. Of course I have contacted them as well, they are the manufacturers and the cause of the problem 🙄

    The reviews speak for themselves:

  • The Look Of Pure Love

Your wedding day is a very special day. And anyone else’s wedding day is just as special to them, even if it runs a little outside of what a “normal” wedding would be.

Ashley Rice was planning her big day and she was considering all those “first look” photos. But this is something she didn’t really want to share with her soon-to-be-husband. They would have plenty of time during their lives for first looks. This is something she, instead, wanted to share with her brother. Says Ashley: “I had always imagined us seeing each other as I walked down the aisle.

I was chatting with a friend at work about what I should do, and she instantly said, ‘Well you obviously need to do one with your brother,’ and it just clicked.” A little odd, perhaps, but you must understand… Ashley’s little brother, Nick, has Down syndrome, and Ashley considers him her best friend. Says Ashley: “My relationship with Nick is a beautiful one, but also a normal one. I’m his biggest supporter and we love each other fiercely. But, he is still my little brother and we do normal things that brothers and sisters do.

    The Look Of Pure Love
    The Look Of Pure Love

We bicker and we annoy each other. We frustrate each other at times, and then the next day they are forgotten, and we’re back to normal, and that’s normal. At least it is for us.” She said her little brother’s reaction to the First Look was one of being speechless. When she told her future husband, Brian, what she was planning on doing, he said “’You are the most indescribable person in the world. I can’t even describe it.’ It was a very sweet moment between them, she said, and they both had tears in their eyes.

And then, there was the photographer who captured the First Look moments between brother and sister. That photographer was Kelsey Gene, and this is what she posted on her Facebook page: “Ohhh my…This wedding day was extraordinary for many reasons. But possibly one of my favorite moments was the special first look Ashley planned for her little brother, Nick. Before the ceremony, these two carved out a moment to spend together. And it was so special and pure.

Nick had some very heartfelt thoughts to share with his sister. When I tell you, that there was not a dry eye in the room… oh yes I was right along with them in tears. I love that Ashley and her husband Brian chose to include moments in their day that felt right to them, even if it’s a little outside the ‘normal’ or ‘traditional’. It’s so important to remember that this day is about your relationship, your families, and your values. And guess what? That’s different for everyone!” So what special things did you include in YOUR wedding?
