  • My Child Is Not Required To Share With Yours

MY CHILD IS NOT REQUIRED TO SHARE WITH YOURS.

As soon as we walked in the park, Carson was approached by at least 6 boys, all at once demanding that he share his transformer, Minecraft figure, and truck. He was visibly overwhelmed and clutched them to his chest as the boys reached for them. He looked at me.

“You can tell them no, Carson,” I said. “Just say no. You don’t have to say anything else.”

Of course, as soon as he said no, the boys ran to tattle to me that he was not sharing. I said, “He doesn’t have to share with you. He said no. If he wants to share, he will.”

That got me some dirty looks from other parents. Here is the thing though:

If I, an adult, walked into the park eating a sandwich, am I required to share my sandwich with strangers in the park? No!

Would any well-mannered adult, a stranger, reach out to help themselves to my sandwich, and get huffy if I pulled it away? No again.

So really, while you’re giving me dirty looks, presumably thinking my son and I are rude, whose manners are lacking here? The person reluctant to give his 3 toys away to 6 strangers, or the 6 strangers demanding to be given something that doesn’t belong to them, even when the owner is obviously uncomfortable?

The goal is to teach our children how to function as adults. While I do know some adults who clearly never learned how to share as children, I know far more who don’t know how to say no to people, or how to set boundaries, or how to practice self-care. Myself included.

In any case, Carson only brought the toys to share with my friend’s little girl, who we were meeting at the park. He only didn’t want to share with the greedy boys because he was excited to surprise her with them.

The next time your snowflake runs to you, upset that another child isn’t sharing, please remember that we don’t live in a world where it’s conducive to give up everything you have to anyone just because they said so, and I’m not going to teach my kid that that’s the way it works👌

  • Have You Heard Of Social Stories?-Autism

As an admin for a large parents group you often see autism come up; is my son autistic, my daughter has just got an asd diagnosis and so on. With this comes along worries, so many worries.

As a mum of an autistic child (early diagnosis), we were lucky to get the early intervention such as the early bird course-I’d advise it of all parents with the diagnosis!

At first the diagnosis was scary and we needed to learn communication from both us and him. Just changing our language wasn’t enough.

You’ll hear many people say that those on the spectrum are visual learners and this is so very true.

We set up a board of visual aids of what we are doing for the day, with him removing them after each task. You can take a key ring of them out so your child knows what is coming next. It keeps the understand there, starts to encourage now and next.

How many of you have heard of social stories? These are fantastic as their understanding increases, we made one when my husband went away and it kept anxieties down to a minimum.

These can also be used for younger children, prevents tantrums when they don’t want to do something-they will know the order of things.

Please don’t live in worry-there are so many options out there to help.

  • I Am In Hell Because It Is Not My Baby

Sitting in the labour and delivery room at the hospital with my sister. My mum, who is also pregnant, just showed up. I’m smiling, and carrying on conversations, but inside? I am in hell.

I guess I’m a very selfish and mean person because I don’t think it’s fair. I don’t think it’s fair that I was the one who was actively trying to get pregnant, but instead God not only blessed one of my family members, but two with the gift that I had been praying for, for YEARS.

I hate feeling this way. I am beyond happy for them, but at the same time I’m over here struggling to keep my composure and not burst into tears. It’s not fair that I’m the one who has to go through this pain. It’s not fair that each month I take dose after dose of medication and pray so fervently that God will bless me with a child.

I changed my eating habits, I changed my lifestyle. This was supposed to be my moment, or like my moment, where everyone shows up to the hospital because they’re excited for the new baby. But it’s not. It’s not my baby, it’s not my moment, and I won’t even pretend to understand why I’m in this situation. I don’t see in just black and white anymore. I look around and I wonder just how many women are in my shoes.

How many women go through the channels on tv and see a newborn baby on one of those nappy commercials, and you just feel your heart tear into pieces inside your chest. You can’t walk down the baby aisles because you know that if you buy it and it doesn’t happen yet again, you’ll be left looking at that item knowing that it’s still just an item and not YOUR baby’s. How many women have cried themselves to sleep at night because all they want is to start a family? I’m so happy, but I’m not.

Here I am, listening to them talk and joke around, but I feel like the joke is on me and sometimes I wonder if God is listening to me. Please tell me i’m not alone.

  • How Do I Get Over A Friend Having An Abortion

Has anyone had to cope with their very close friend/family getting an abortion? I am trying to get over/passed it before it happens so we can move on with our friendship, but it is wearing so heavily on my heart I can’t bear it any longer and I’m not sure I will ever be able to look at her the same again.

She is my Fiancé’s cousin, but they were raised as siblings.. she has offered to carry a baby for us NUMEROUS times and I’ve always been able to vent to her about my struggles with infertility.

She isn’t always the most responsible person on earth and she called me a week ago saying she thought she was pregnant and the guy she had been sleeping with is just a friend he doesn’t want anymore children.

Now please don’t think of me the wrong way, I’m IN NO WAY saying she should give the baby to us. (Not that we would decline that offer but regardless) I just didn’t expect her to choose anything other than life for this baby. She has always been on the same page as me when it came to being Pro-Life.. and now that it’s happened to her she’s turned a 360. She has an appointment scheduled for friday to terminate.

I’m just looking for some advice, do I say something, ignore and move on after all it is her body her choice, but I am finding it so hard to understand and accept, we would give anything to have a new life to call our own, yet she has been given the gift of a baby and she plans to destroy this.

Am I just being jealous and bitter? Would I feel differently had I already had a baby of my own, what would you do?
