    Smyths Toys Superstores TO EVERYONE WHO OWNS THIS BATH SEAT PLEASE THROW AWAY IMMEDIATELY!! BOUGHT FROM SMYTHS IN BLACKPOOL.

    Tonight I was bathing Olivia, she managed to get her self stuck with two legs between one hole! There is no way of releasing the bath seat legs incase your baby gets stuck. Olivia was screaming for an hour and is now very shaken. After trying to get her out the bath seat Kalum Smith had to phone the fire brigade to cut her out of the seat as there was no way to get her out!!!

    The fire brigade had to cut her out using specialist equipment as there was no way of getting her out!!!

    After reading online about this bath seat many others have had the same problem and have had to get the fire brigade out to cut there child out of this seat!!!!! This bath seat called safety first is definitely not safe, what if the baby slips and gets stuck???? There’s no way of getting them out !!! The material of the bath seat is extremely slippy!!! Will be sticking with the angel care bath seat as much more safer!!

    I have never been so scared in my life panicking about Olivia, her legs are still bright red and she was screaming in pain!

  • YES I Use A Backpack Leash With My Daughter

    Yes! I use a backpack “leash” with my daughter… why? Well why not 🤔

    She’s NOT wearing a backpack “leash” because she’s an animal 🙄. She’s not out of control. It’s not because she doesn’t listen. It’s not because I’m lazy.

    🗣She’s ONE!

    She is learning. She’s learning freedom & independence but also safety & boundaries.

    She’s curious. She wants to explore. She doesn’t want to be stuck sitting in a stroller, she wants to walk & burn energy.

    Because human trafficking is REAL! Child predators are lurking, waiting for you to be distracted to snatch your child. They are looking for targets.

    I’m not naive. Danger is out there in almost every situation. It could be crossing a parking lot. I have multiple kids, distractions happen.

    A parent could have a toddler who’s a runner.

    I feel better knowing that she is still attached to me but with a little mobility and not running off.

    I often hear “oh but I would never…” well good for you 👏

    So to sum it up…

  • Car Seat Safety-Can You Do This?

    A few years ago I shared this post and I feel like it’s time to share it again.

    Because it really, really doesn’t matter what sort of car seat you have if you don’t pay attention to this…

    My family and I went on a road trip yesterday, my pregnant belly in the picture is now and bright and bubbly almost two year old and the 4 year old here just turned 6. And he is still in this seat. And he knows the straps need to be tight. And I am just as passionate as ever about car seat safety…

    So here it is again, for anyone who may have missed it, for anyone who needs a reminder, or for anyone who just didn’t know…

    Thoughts on Car Seats from Paramedics… feel free to share.

    Alexander turned 4 and we decided it was time to get him a new car seat, with a baby on the way we knew we could use his old one for her and buy him a new seat for the next 4 or so years.

    So we purchased this one and love it.

    I’m a member of a lot of mothers groups and communities and the discussion around car seats is ALWAYS a heated one. People give their opinions on rear facing vs forward facing, side seat vs middle seat, chest clip height (FYI – Australia doesn’t use chest clips), straps, wearing jumpers… if there’s something to have an opinion on, it has been discussed before.

    But I wanted to share something my husband and I were discussing.

    See, together we have over 20 years of on road experience as Paramedics. We have been to more car accidents than you could imagine and seen more mangled car seats than I’d like to share.

    While we know the science and research backs up our opinions, that’s not what we are sharing here. We wanted to share what we have seen and experienced in our job.

    When you become a parent you spend AGES researching the ‘best’ car seat. You look for safety features, star ratings and reviews and fret over if you can afford the best.

    But, it doesn’t matter how much money you spend on a car seat if you DON’T strap your child in.

    Between my husband and I, in our 20 years experience, we have NOT seen a single child harmed in a car accident where the child was restrained in their seat properly.

    Not a single one.

    That’s not to say it hasn’t happened, but out of 20 years, and a whole lot of accidents, that’s a pretty darn good indicator of the importance of using a car seat properly.

    We’ve seen car seats ejected from vehicles, we’ve seen cars that have rolled over so many times you can barely tell which way is up, we’ve seen accidents where you would be certain there would be no survivors.

    But in our experience, the biggest difference between a child’s safety hasn’t been if they were in the $600 car seat or the $200 one. It’s been about those straps.

    How tight are you making the straps on your child’s seat? Can they pull their own arms out of them? Can you only fit one or two fingers underneath them? Do they have a big puffy jacket on that stops them from being strapped in properly?

    Would you be confident in doing THIS to them? Would you be confident in turning your child upside down in their seat?

    Car seats have incredible safety designs now, they are designed to cocoon your child, protect them as they roll and are thrown around in an accident. but they can only do this if your child is restrained properly.

    So next time you buckle your child in, ask yourself… would I be confident in turning them upside down in their seat right now?

  • Yes Comfort Toys Are Dangerous When Baby Is Sleeping

    I am asked about comfort toys like this or little taggie blankets. So many say to me surly these can’t be dangerous they’re so little.

    Sadly the truth is when it comes to suffocation or asphyxiation because of re breathing co2 I sadly have known a precious baby to die from tiny corner of a bed sheet covering his nose and causing him to suffocate. So I truly do try and explain how unsafe even the smallest comforter is.

    An how when small all babies are nose breathers and so If even one nostril is covered this means they are re Breathing their co2 and also their oxygen is being deprived.

    Also a small blanket can even smother a little newborn . So as sweet as some think or as precious as one believes a comfort toy is they really are dangerous be it a tiny taggie or a big teddy. When I see mums in groups talking about what comforter their children / babies have sometimes my heart misses a beat at pictures I see.

    So please please be aware of the dangers of absolutely any type of teddy or blanket no matter the size. Safe clutter free sleep environment. ABCs is the only way to sleep your precious bundle of joy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    But you didn’t see me playing Santa at the local village hall.

    I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant.

    But you didn’t see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the disaster relief.

    I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by.

    But you didn’t see me driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

    I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children.

    But you didn ‘t see me when I used my only time off work to run toys to the homeless.

    I saw you stare at my long hair.

    But you didn’t see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Cancer Research.

    I saw you roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves.

    But you didn’t see me and my brothers and sisters donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none.

    I saw you look in fright at my tattoos.

    But you didn’t see me cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart.

    I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.

    But you didn’t see me going home to be with my family.

    I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.

    But you didn’t see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

    I saw you yelling at your kids in the car.

    But you didn’t see me pat my child’s hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

    I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.

    But you didn’t see me squeeze my wife’s leg when she told me to take the next turn.

    I saw you race down the road in the rain.

    But you didn’t see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.

    I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time.

    But you didn’t see me trying to turn right.

    I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in.

    But you didn’t see me leave the road.

    I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.

    But you didn’t see me. I wasn’t there.

    I saw you go home to your family.

    But you didn’t see me. Because, I died that day you cut me off.

    I WAS JUST A BIKER. A person with friends and a family. But you didn’t see me.

    Anyone who owns an iCandy Orange pushchair please please visit the icandy website and check if your batch is one which has a safety warning.

    At the weekend, our little 21 month old princess got her finger trapped in the ‘safety cross bar’ on the pushchair! I’m not one to exaggerate, but believe me when I say the end of her finger was almost sliced off. We were on a bank holiday weekend away and were having a family day at Twin Lakes when this happened. It was such a traumatic experience and I still feel physically sick and can’t get it out of my head. The thought of what our little girl went through, I can’t even comprehend.

    We’ve had our pushchair for 2 years, but icandy were only aware of this manufacturing fault in January (this year). Apparently John Lewis (where we brought ours) and mothercare were notified and we should have been made aware of the problem and issued with a new safety bar….we were NOT made aware and NEVER received a replacement bar. John lewis do not have this recall on their website. The fault is a missing safety cap!

    Our girl has a fractured index finger bone and a severe wound. I decided not to post a photo of the finger itself, as it is extremely disturbing. However, these 2 photos are of my little girls blood ridden outfit and my t shirt…this gives you some idea of the severity of the injury.

  • Attention All Road Users-Horses and The Law

    ***Attention ALL road users***

    Imagine this…. You’re driving to work and you’re running a bit late so you take a short cut down a side street or country road. You are going quite fast and you notice a horse and rider up ahead. The road is fairly straight and you can see there are no oncoming vehicles so you only slow down slightly in preparation to pass.

    As you approach the horse suddenly side steps/jumps into the middle of the road, you’re going to fast, you slam on your breaks but it’s not enough, you close your eyes and hope for the best, you hear terrible crashing sounds and breaking glass then….. silence. Are you still alive? Did the horse and rider survive? You have a lot more protection than them and you can feel that you’re injured. Now you’re going to be really late for work, if you even get there. You could lose your driving licence, maybe face jail time for death by dangerous driving.

    A horse is an animal with its own instincts and reactions. A horse is a flight animal that WILL run from anything it perceives as a danger/predator. Horses were our mode of transport long before cars were even imaginable. The horse in the above scenario could have spooked for a number of reasons; a pheasant bursting out of the hedge line, suddenly noticing an animal or farm machinery in a field, a farmer or hunter shooting a rifle, a low flying aircraft, even the sound and vibrations from the car approaching too fast.

    It’s not practical to expect all horse riders to stay off the roads and quite frankly that’s a very selfish and childish attitude to have, after all they were on the roads long before your car/van/motorcycle/truck was. If you encounter a horse and rider while out driving please be cautious and courteous and pass wide and slow when it’s safe to do so. Please also pay attention to the rider and any hand signals they make as they can usually see more than you can. Take a moment while you relax at home to look up a horse riders hand signals and what they are telling/asking other road users to do. Also imagine that it’s your child or a family member on the back of that large, strong animal. It could save a life and that life could be yours.

    You don’t want a horse stuck in your windscreen repeatedly kicking you in the face either.

    Also By QLD GOV law at least – vehicle drivers must stop at the side of the road and turn off their motor if a horse rider signals that their horse is jumpy or agitated. The horse rider can signal to the driver by raising a hand and pointing to the horse. The driver must not move the vehicle until the noise of the motor, or the movement of the vehicle, won’t aggravate the horse….so I’m guessing it’s still illegal to hit a horse with a car…again in QLD anyway.

    That is for those who don’t care about the animal as they will care about the possible charges, fines and insurance issues.
