    The Doctors and Nurses at Chelsea West hospital have asked if we will share photos of Alba to educate about vaccinations.

    Posting these heartbreaking images of our beautiful baby girl who contracted MEASLES is extremely difficult, we are still in hospital 8 days after being admitted.

    She was too young for her MMR vaccination when she got sick which meant she has had to fight this killer virus with no immunity.

    Measles is not “just a rash” it can cause blindness, encephalitis and pneumonia.

    We need to do more people. Get your children vaccinated.

    The MMR does not cause life threatening issues like Measles does. Your babies might feel under the weather for a day or so but believe me you’d accept that over what we have been through.

    It has been absolutely horrific watching our daughter fight this with her eyes swollen shut for 4 days. She has been in the dark, scared with a high fever that lasted for over two weeks. In hospital she has been scanned, X-rayed poked prodded bloods taken, lumbar punctures done, canulars fitted, swabs taken, ECG Eccos, obs done every 20 mins, tube fed, on a drip, oxygen, pumped full of drugs, anti inflammatory pain relief antibiotics you name it she’s had it. The truth is this all could have been prevented if the protection layer of older kids above Alba had been vaccinated.

    Educate yourselves, talk about it, spread the word SHARE THIS POST. Do whatever you need to do because without the care of Chelsea and west Doctors our beautiful baby would not be here today.

    All of the tests that were done in hospital were imperative to determine what was wrong with Alba, even though the Doctors thought it was measles from the start she deteriorated fast and was extremely poorly. Alba was also showing symptoms of Kawasaki disease, possible meningitis and of course secondary infections amongst other illnesses that come with measels.

  • Test For Parvovirus To Prevent Another Babies Death

    A very close friend and her Husband lost their beautiful baby girl Sophie in December 2018 due to the Parvovirus not being detected before childbirth, her 40 hours on this earth were so precious to those around her, but her chances would have been doubled and more If she could have been treated in the womb. 

    Require a routine blood test during pregnancy for ParvovirusB19

    ParvovirusB19 affects between 2500 and 5000 pregnancies each year in the EU. The disease is easily diagnosed and advances in the treatment can increase the chance of foetal survival. Currently blood tests are not routinely checked for this disease.

    Parvovirus B19 is a virus that commonly infects children. It is usually transmitted by coughing and sneezing (respiratory droplets). Hand washing is important in helping to prevent spread. School teachers, childcare workers and mothers of young children are particularly likely to be exposed to this virus as it is commonest amongst younger school age children, but everyone can be exposed to it.

    For most healthy people, Parvovirus B19 causes a mild, self-limiting illness which is followed by life-long immunity.
    The Human Parvovirus B19 is not the same Parvovirus that vets may be concerned about in pets, especially dogs, and it cannot be passed from humans to animals or vice versa.

    In women who are not immune, infection in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy can lead to serious problems for your baby before it is born. This would usually happen three to five weeks after the onset of maternal infection, but can be later

    I can’t wait to try this in the summer it has been a god send! I was at a friend party in her garden the other week, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone, if you have ever been bitten by these little blighter’s you will know how annoying the itch is, and the temptation not to scratch is unbearable.  An insect bite or sting often causes a small, red lump on the skin, which may be painful and itchy, Mosquitoes don’t cause major harm in the UK, but in some parts of the world they can spread serious illnesses such as malaria

    My good friend Paul who was hosting the party  sprayed the grass and patio with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared.

    Yesterday I filled an empty spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes, gnats and even flies. And voila! That worked as well.. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children’s swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I won’t be leaving the house without my trusty spray bottle of minty fresh Listerine.

    If you have troublesome symptoms after an insect bite or sting, the following treatments may help:

    • For pain or discomfort – take over-the-counter painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen (children under 16 years of age shouldn’t be given aspirin).

    • For itching – ask your pharmacist about over-the-counter treatments, including crotamiton cream or lotion, hydrocortisone cream or ointment and antihistamine tablets.

    • For swelling – try regularly applying a cold compress or ice pack to the affected area, or ask your pharmacist about treatments such as antihistamine tablets.

    See your GP if these treatments don’t help. They may prescribe stronger medicines such as steroid tablets.

    House spiders are invading homes across the uk as mating season begins.
    An influx of giant house spiders have already crawled into the homes of unsuspecting householders and we’ll be seeing a lot more of them in the weeks to come.
    September will see a large quantity of males leaving their hiding places to seek a mate. Their bite can penetrate human skin but its stinging venom is harmless to humans.
    And with bodies that can measure up to three inches long, there’s every chance you will see it first.

    However, it only gets worse for arachnophobes, as these speedy creatures scurry at 1.18mph and once held the Guinness Book of Records top spider speed.
    So good luck to budding exterminators, you are about to make some new friends this autumn, but here are some tips for keeping spiders away from the house.
    Limit spider food – Clear away any dead flies, or other small crawling insects.

    Vacuum regularly – Always vacuum high and low, and make sure you target sheltered spots beneath worktops and behind cupboards and sofas.
    Remove webs – Do this regularly, and remember to check the corners of the ceiling and in corners of picture frames and mirrors.

    Fill gaps – Make sure you fill the gaps between walls, pipework and under doors where possible.
    Reposition sheltering sites – Spiders will look to tuck themselves away in firewood piles, garden bags and compost heaps, so put them at the bottom of the garden.

    Limit lighting – Insects are drawn to light, and flies and moths are ideal spider prey, so turn any outside lights off if you can.

    Put them off the scent – Spiders don’t like the smell of citrus fruits like lemon, plus eucalyptus, tea-tree and peppermint oils. Try rubbing lemon peel around windows and doors, or spray the other scents around them. 

    Feline foe – A cat will try to catch a spider if it sees it – although owning a moggy won’t stop spiders coming indoors in the first place.
    Coconut oil – mix some with water and spritz it around. Not only will the house smell nice but spiders don’t like it.

    Conkers? – An old wives tale says spiders don’t like conkers and placing them around the house will keep spiders at bay. While there’s no real evidence to back this up, it won’t hurt to try. 
    If all else fails move, burn the house down or train your children to remove them for you.
