  • I’m Meant To Be At School Now, Everything Is So Different

My 10 year old son wrote this poem with a lot of thought. It’s tough for these children. It’s nice to hear how they feel ❤️

IM MEANT TO BE AT SCHOOL NOW,
BUT IM HOME WITH MY MUM AND BROTHER.
    EVERYTHING IS SO DIFFERENT,
BUT WE ARE THERE FOR ONE ANOTHER.

    IM REALLY MISSING FOOTBALL,
AND SPENDING TIME WITH MY FRIENDS.
WHO KNOWS WHEN THE TIME WILL COME,
    THAT ALL JUST DEPENDS.

    IF PEOPLE STAY AT HOME,
AND DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD.
    LUCKILY THE WEATHERS NICE,
    AND ITS NOT FREEZING COLD.

WE HAVE BEEN PLAYING IN THE POOL,
IN THE GARDEN IN THE SUN.
    SPENDING TIME WITH FAMILY,
    HAS MADE IT REALLY FUN.

MY NANA MAC WENT TO HEAVEN LAST WEEK,
AND WE’VE ALL BEEN REALY SAD.
WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TRAVEL,
AND MAKES US ALL FEEL BAD.

ONE DAY WHEN THIS IS OVER,
    AND WE ARE ALL FREE.
I MISS MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY,
AND I HOPE THAT THEY MISS ME!

  • If She Loves You Now What Else Matters

    Bob Marley once said:

“You may not be her first,
    her last, or her only.

    She loved before
    she may love again.

But if she loves you now,
    what else matters?

    She’s not perfect—you aren’t either,
and the two of you may never be perfect together
but if she can make you laugh,
    cause you to think twice,
and admit to being human and making mistakes,
hold onto her and give her the most you can.

She may not be thinking about you every second of the day,
but she will give you a part of her
that she knows you can break—her heart.

    So don’t hurt her,
    don’t change her,
    don’t analyze and
don’t expect more than she can give.

Smile when she makes you happy,
let her know when she makes you mad,
and miss her when she’s not there.

Love with your whole being when you receive love.
Because there are no perfect girls, but there will always be a girl who is perfect for you..” ❤ ❤ 🙂

  • To Be A Carer

A poem written by one of Brightspark Care Ltd support workers , Cat Maund 😃

To be a carer – by Me 🦄

    The duties of a carer
Are not all black and white
A lot goes on behind the scenes
Out of mind and out of sight

We don’t just do the personal care
Not just feeding, dressing and hygiene
There’s more to life as a care worker
Then you might have ever seen

We’re there to provide extra support
    When someone is unwell,
When they’re just not feeling strong enough
    To help, encase they fell

    To listen to the stories
Of times that have gone by
And hold a hand in times of need
And when they wish to cry

    To show your understanding
    When times are getting rough
When someone feels like giving up
    And has really had enough

    To support and to encourage
In hope to enhance a persons life
To offer an extra helping hand
To a husband or a wife

    We must be understanding
    And protect each persons rights
    To support their independence
    With every day and night

    We aim to uphold dignity
    And treat people with respect
    We taylor to individuals needs
And ensure a plan is set

To care may come with sadness
    And sometimes the darkest days
The worst of these has got to be
    When someone’s passed away

    Yet we shall continue
    To encourage and support
    To ensure the highest standards
And not let them fall short

To care is not a hardship
    But rather more a gift
And if you ever need a pick me up
We are here to give the lift 💕💕💕💕💕🥰🥰🥰

  • Boris A Little Poem

    I’ve written a poem.

Really not trying to belittle or trivialise what is happening right now. I just wanted to get a few bits and bobs off my chest and this works for me.

    Boris.

    I’ve wrote a little poem
    I hope it doesn’t suck
I hope that you don’t roll your eyes
    And mutter ‘What the fuck?’

    I didn’t vote for Boris
But he’s not as bad as Blair
At least he’s no war criminal
But I wish he’d brush his hair

I watch him on my phone
Which makes me squint like mad
    Cos that little shit Dempsey
    Has nicked my iPad

I watch it in the kitchen
    Whilst I’m doing dinner
Puts me off my fucking food
But at least I’m getting thinner

    I’ve got loads of questions
Like can we test, test, test?
But Boris goes ‘Nah fuck off mate’
    We didn’t invest, vest, vest.

But he’s done a deal for ventilators
    A 30 million pound hit
Hope they’re better than Dyson’s vacuums
    ‘Cos they are fucking shit.

    This situation makes me sad
    It’s beyond my comprehension
I hope my poem makes you laugh
And eases just a little bit of tension.

  • As I Walk Through The Aisles Of Death At The Supermarket

    A poem from my heart:

If you only could hear what I hear

If you only could feel what I feel

As I walk along those aisles of death in the supermarket

Do you ever look beyond the clever packaging?

Beyond the fairy happy-tales of animals who supposedly willingly were killed

Humane slaughter is all a lie

Animals do not want to die

These are aisles of intense suffering and death

    Aisles of crushed dreams,

    children mourning their parents,

    and parents mourning their children

These dead bodies should all be in a cemetery

Yet, I see people buying these bodies,

living individuals ripped apart at a young age

It is not food, it is violence

Milk is not food for us, it is the nourishment which was intended for a calf

But forcefully she was taken away from her mother,

    ignoring her intense cries;

and ignoring the cries of his/her heart, saying:

Please don’t hurt these beautiful beings,

respect their deep heart wish to be together

And if you buy that milk, you are closing your eyes, and heart,

from their heartache, pleas and deep emotional suffering

Think of if someone forcefully took you away from your mother when you were a little child

Treat and respect others as you want others to treat and respect you

    It is time

    To shop with your heart,

    your eyes and ears

    Their suffering will only stop

if you listen to your heart and shop with your heart

  • Dear Teacher Monsters Are Real

On Monday, Billy didn’t have his homework

And when the teacher asked him why

He said, “Because a monster ripped it up,

After I told him a lie.”

    “You know monsters don’t exist,

And if you don’t turn in your homework

    No recess you will get

On Tuesday, Billy had a stomach ache

And when the teacher asked him why

He said, “A monster took away my dinner,

    even my ice cream.”

“Billy, I’ve told you once before,

    Monsters are not real.

You’ll have to wait till lunchtime

    Before you get a meal.”

On Wednesday, Billy had a bandage,

    Which covered his right eye.

When the teacher asked him how it happened,

    This was his reply:

“A monster was running after me

When I ran into the door:”

    “Billy please,” the teacher said,

“I don’t want to hear any more.”

On Thursday, Billy refused to sit down,

And when the teacher asked him why,

Billy said, “A monster whipped my bottom,

    Because I started to cry,”

    “Billy, said the teacher,

” this is getting out of hand,

And if you continue with these stories,

In the corner you will stand.”

On Friday, Billy didn’t come to school,

And when the teacher found out why,

She said a little prayer to God

    In hopes Billy would survive.

For a monster had beaten Billy

and threatened him with a knife.

Now Billy lay in a hospital bed,

    Fighting for his life.

    So teachers please remember,

    That monsters are for real.

    Listen closely to kids stories,

A wounded heart you may heal

  • Poem For Children To Encourage Murdering Siblings

Kayla Sykes has taken to Facebook with concerns over a poem published.

Sykes said “If you happen to shop at Costco please do not buy the children’s book “No More Poems.” It includes a horrifying poem with specific details on how to kill your younger sibling. It’s absolutely disgusting. I hope this posts reaches Costco and the publisher, as the author Rhett Miller has blocked me on Facebook.

Talk about putting ideas in a child’s head. I’m so disgusted this was even published. The publisher of this book is Little, Brown and Company”

The first verse of the poem read “Brotherly Love,

Please don’t push your brother out the window, little miss.

I know he’s asking for it I am quite aware of this but if you push your brother out the window he’ll go splat and once he’s squished there isn’t any coming back from that”

Poem For Children To Encourage Murdering Siblings

one verse reads “If you take a pillow and smother brothers head, ive got a strong suspicion that he might wake up dead, or worse he’d be a vegetable oh bitter irony. He hasn’t eaten one of those in his whole history”

What are your thoughts? Is this book too much or no worse than traditional fairy tales about plaques, deaths and murders

  • Mama I Love You, Could You Wake Up For A Min

    Dear mama,

Could you wake up for a minute? I know it’s hard for you to open your eyes – we haven’t slept a lot yet tonight. But mama, I kinda need you right now. You see, the thing is, I feel a bit lonely at the moment. I’m laying here in my crib and I’m somewhat cold.

I didn’t mean to cry so I’m sorry I did. I’ve been trying to get your attention by making some noises for a while now but you were in such a deep sleep, you couldn’t hear me. I don’t know how else to get your attention. During the day, I see and hear you all make noises and I see you respond well to each other. You talk to me like that too. And I try very hard but I don’t know how to do that yet. So I cry so you’d listen to me.

Mama, I’m sorry for crying. Like I said, I feel a bit lonely. I just spent nine months inside your belly where I’ve always felt safe. It’s a bit scary to me to be in such a big bed all by myself. I miss your heartbeat, the rushing of your blood, the warmth and the food.I miss your breathing and your hands you put over me to protect me when I still was inside your belly.

So mama, would you please listen to me? I’m calling for you in the only way I’m able to. I feel really alone. I need your warmth and your peace for a moment. I need to know for sure you’re still here. So can I come lay with you for a little while to feel your warmth?

Some cuddles first. Mama, this feels so nice. When I feel you holding me while you gently rock me and when I can smell and feel you, I feel so safe. I can feel your hand on my back and my ear is placed just right on your heart. Mom, this is home to me. Do you remember back when we were always together? I always felt like this back then. Sometimes I miss that time. It was so nice to be close to you.

I hear you softly whisper into my ear “Everything is okay little one, everything is fine”. Your voice is so soft and familiar. You smell good mom. A bit like me and a bit like you.

Mama, will you hold me just a little longer? I’m really tired and I feel so relaxed in your arms. It almost feels like before. I’m going to close my eyes for a little while, okay? Can I please stay with you here a little longer to enjoy your love and your presence?

And can I drink some more? Mama, since we’re laying like this anyway…I’d like to ask you something. I know, it sounds pretty sad because I can’t talk like you can yet so I’m sorry for crying again. But mama, can I please drink some more? My throat is dry and my tummy is empty and since we’re here anyway…maybe I can have a few more sips? Your milk tastes delicious and is so warm and familiar.

Thanks mom, that’s exactly what I needed. I was really really thirsty. Your finger on my cheek feels great by the way. And you’re smiling at me. Nothing makes me happier than seeing your smile and feeling your presence. I’ll close my eyes again, okay? Please don’t put me away straight away, I really enjoy falling asleep here. This feels really good. Can I stay with you for another hour or so?

My tummy hurts. What is that?! Mama! Can you feel this? Mom? My tummy hurts so bad. What is happening? Please help me mama, I don’t know what’s happening. I’ve never felt anything like this.

Thank you for rubbing my belly mom. It’s late and everyone is asleep. I’m so happy you’re here for me. I don’t know what I’d do without you mama. My tummy already hurts less and when you hold me like that…I feel pretty tired. Maybe I’ll close my eyes again. Please hold me a little longer?

Can I have more cuddles? You won’t believe this mama! I’m a bit scared. I just woke up and I didn’t know where I was for a second. It was all dark and a little cold again. I know you’re tired mama. But I really missed you, can I please be with you again for a while?

Mama, I can see that you’re tired. There are tears in your eyes and every now and then a tear rolls down your cheek. I’m sorry mama but I feel really strange in this new world. I miss home. I miss always being close to you.

Sometimes I feel a tear fall on my head while you gently rock me. You’re singing me a song so that I can go back to sleep. You softly dry the tears that fell on my head with your hand. That feels nice mom, do that again?

I fall asleep on your chest. You feel so soft, so familiar. There’s nowhere I sleep better than here. My legs are pulled up, just like they were back when I still lived with you. I can hear your heartbeat again and I move along with your breathing.

I will learn soon. Mama, you’re the best place to be. I’m so glad I get to come to you over and over again. I don’t like being unable to just ask either but I’m really happy you listen to me when I call for you.

Soon, I’ll be able to be there for you. Or for my brothers or sisters. Or for my friends in school. You’re teaching me how to take care of someone. You’re teaching me that you listen, even when I can’t ask. You’re teaching me I’m safe, even when sometimes it feels like I’m not. You’re teaching me that you love me, even when you’re very tired. Thank you.

    And mama, I love you.

  • I Got Flowers Today- Domestic Violence

I got flowers today. It wasn’t my birthday or any other special day. We had our first argument last night. He said a lot of cruel things that really hurt me. I know he was sorry and didn’t mean the things he said. Because I got flowers today.

I got flowers today. It wasn’t our anniversary or any other special day. Last night, he threw me into a wall and started to choke me. It seemed like a nightmare. I couldn’t believe it was real. I woke up this morning sore and bruised all over. I know he must be sorry Because he sent me flowers today.

I got flowers today. It wasn’t Mother’s Day or any other special day. Last night, he beat me up again. And it was much worse than all other times. If I leave him, what will I do? How will I take care of my kids? What about money? I’ m afraid of him and scared to leave. But I know he must be sorry Because he sent me flowers today.

I got flowers today. Today was a very special day. It was the day of my funeral.

Last night he finally killed me. He beat me to death.

If only I had gathered enough courage and strength to leave him, I would not have gotten flowers today.

This poem is dedicated to all the victims and survivors of Domestic Violence.

You ask, why didn’t she leave?

I ask, why did he hit?

  • ADHD, Take My Hand And Come With Me

    A.D.H.D.

Take my hand and come with me,

I want to teach you about ADHD.

I need you to know, I want to explain,

I have a very different brain.

    Sights, sounds, and thoughts collide.

What to do first? I can’t decide.

Please understand I’m not to blame,

I just can’t process things the same.

Take my hand and walk with me,

Let me show you about ADHD.

I try to behave, I want to be good,

But I sometimes forget to do as I should.

Walk with me and wear my shoes,

You’ll see its not the way I’d choose.

I do know what I’m supposed to do,

But my brain is slow getting the message through.

Take my hand and talk with me,

I want to tell you about ADHD.

I rarely think before I talk,

I often run when I should walk.

It’s hard to get my school work done,

My thoughts are outside having fun.

I never know just where to start,

I think with my feelings and see with my heart.

Take my hand and stand by me,

I need you to know about ADHD.

It’s hard to explain but I want you to know,

I can’t help letting my feelings show.

Sometimes I’m angry, jealous, or sad.

I feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and mad.

I can’t concentrate and I lose all my stuff.

I try really hard but it’s never enough.

Take my hand and learn with me,

We need to know more about ADHD.

I worry a lot about getting things wrong,

Everything I do takes twice as long.

    Everyday is exhausting for me…

Looking through the fog of ADHD.

    I’m often so misunderstood,

I would change in a heartbeat if I could.

Take my hand and listen to me,

I want to share a secret about ADHD.

I want you to know there is more to me.

I’m not defined by it, you see.

I’m sensitive, kind and lots of fun.

    I’m blamed for things I haven’t done.

I’m the loyalist friend you’ll ever know,

I just need a chance to let it show.

Take my hand and look at me,

    Just forget about the ADHD.

I have real feelings just like you.

The love in my heart is just as true.

I may have a brain that can never rest,

But please understand I’m trying my best.

I want you to know, I need you to see,

I’m more than the label, I am still me!!!!
