  • If Your Nails Look Like This It Is A Warning Sign

    ##awareness#

2 weeks ago i posted this pic on my wall asking if anyone had seen nails like this. A few google post later and i was urged to go to the Doctor. A tad extreme I thought….

I was rushed for blood tests and a chest x-ray, 2 days later I got a phone call to go for a CT scan, 2 days later a PET scan and more blood test, the day later a breathing test on my lungs and a scan on my heart, the day later an MRI scan then a lung biopsy.

After a gruelling 2 weeks, yesterday I got my results…….Cancer in both my lungs !!!!.

When your nails curve it is often linked to heart and lung disease and its official term is ” clubbing” I had no idea….Did You ????

Hope this post can help someone else in the early stages of cancer.

Big shout out to the NHS you have been excellent and I thank all the staff that have dealt with my diagnosis.

Nail clubbing, also known as digital clubbing, is a deformity of the finger or toe nails associated with a number of diseases, mostly of the heart and lungs. Clubbing for no obvious reason can also occur, but is rare, if you think you may have clubbing of the finger or toe nails please see your doctor or other medical professionals. More than 80% of lung cancer patients will survive for at least a year if diagnosed at the earliest stage compared to around 15% for people diagnosed with the most advanced stage of disease

  • Acrylic And Gel Nail Can Be Very Dangerous

How often do you have your nails done? Are you aware of the risks?

We are hoping after you read this you think about the risks before having your nails done, we aren’t saying never to do it but to bring awareness of the possible dangers.

Be aware some of the photos are hard to look at.

The chemicals used to apply acrylic nails are notoriously unhealthy and include such offenders as resins and formaldehyde, which have been shown to cause cancer. … Rigidly adhered acrylics may also lead to serious nail breaks, infection and loss of the natural nail.

Below is a photo of a woman whom had her nails redo once a month for the last five years.

The hard-to-clean area underneath your nail may cause your nails to be extra sensitive, especially if an MMA-based acrylic (Methyl Methacrylate) is used. Though they’ve been banned for use on nails because of toxicity, some low-end nail salons or nail technicians who come to your home as it is relatively cheap to buy.

Acrylics can cause inflamed or itchy cuticles if the tools used to apply them are old or worn. Be wary of those which have sharp odors — this is a sign that something is wrong.

It might be hard to spot, but infection below the nail bed can become very real. These infections can cause your nails and surrounding skin to appear ugly. Sometimes these infections even have an unpleasant smell.

Pay attention to your nail growth over time. Acrylics often weaken nails, making them prone to breakage.

We advice having a few weeks break between each treatments, check and clean your nails and fingers regularly and make sure the tools your technician is using aren’t overly worn or old.

  • Check Your Nails, This Could Be Deadly

I had a walk-in nail client a couple of weeks ago. She had been going to the “NAILS” type salons for years. She had a straight dark vertical stripe down her nail. She said as soon as she sat down–I need a colour dark enough to cover this stripe. The nail salons “diagnosed” her a few different ways. Some said it was a lack of calcium. Some said it was hereditary. At least one had told her it was a blood blister.

This is melanoma!!! I did not want to frighten her but I told her she needed to see her doctor immediately! She called me today to tell me that yes it was a very aggressive melanoma that has already spread to her lymph nodes!! Her prognosis is not good! Check Your Nails, This Could Be Deadly.

Please pay attention to abnormalities in your nail beds!! Odd changes in your nails can very likely be nothing to worry about! But sometimes it is an indication of a very serious disease. And please keep an eye on the nail beds–toes and fingers—-of your elderly loved ones and your loved ones that aren’t physically able to notice changes in the nail beds! Early diagnosis can make all the difference in the world!!!

Melanoma is also known as malignant melanoma, is a type of cancer that develops from the pigment-containing cells known as melanocytes.
