  • There Are Still Great People In This World

“My husband and I were in the ER and an elderly lady was wheeled out to leave. She told the receptionist she had no family or ride home. I was saddened to see some (not all) of the employees lack of concern as to how she would get home.

All of the sudden this AMAZING gentleman who had been waiting with his wife approached the lady and told her he would gladly take her home. This man not knowing her or having a clue where she lived volunteered his time to care of this lovely woman. She offered to pay but he kindly declined like any good man would. As he went to get his truck I wheeled her out and put her in the vehicle.

As I watched them drive away my only thoughts were ‘there are still great people in this world’ ‘and ‘We have to care for our elders like this nice man.’ I did get a little info from his wife. His name is Jeffery and he is military here at Ft.Campbell KY.

Not only does this man serve our great country, he serves his great little community. I just wanted to give a little recognition and respect to this man. Jeffery, if you see this, just know your deeds are recognized and appreciated by your community. Thank you Sir for serving our country and our community.”

  • He Came Out Of School So Sad

At first look, you may think this is my daughter, you would be wrong, this is my 3 year old son who absolutely loves his spiderman dress..

On Friday, my handsome kind boy wore his spiderman dress to nursery , he went into nursery so so happy, he couldn’t wait to show all his friends his twirling, he couldn’t wait to make them smile.
He came out of school so so sad, two girls had laughed at him and told him he was wearing a girls dress. It absolutely broke his heart, and mine too!

Now, no-one would bat an eyelid if my daughter went into school wearing a hulk costume… So why should he be laughed at for wearing a dress?
After it happened, quite a few people said “well you should of expected it”…. No, no I definitely shouldnt of, its a piece of clothing, it doesn’t define my son, he also loves playing with dinosaurs, cars and Thomas the tank engine.

Why the fuck aren’t we teaching our children to be kind?! Why should I expect my son to be picked on if he wears a dress?
Children are THE most important people we should be teaching to be kind, they are the ones who can change the world, not us, they are the future, they will be bringing up their own children, hopefully to be kind, if they are taught to be kind, they will teach others, it’s common sense!

So in a world where our children can be anything, encourage them to be kind!

  • 9 Year Old Wants To Kill Himself

Its 2020 and i’m reading a newspaper article about a beautiful nine year old boy who wants to kill himself.

Yes you read thst right a 9 year old wants to end his life. Shocking right?

    https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js

At 9 years old he should be playing with his friends, learning interesting things in school, using his imagnation and most importantly being happy and carefree, no worries or stress.

Instead he wants to die because he can no longer cope with the pain of being bullied daily all because he has dwarfism.

What kind of world do we live in where our children look at another child and feel it’s ok to ridicule and humiliate a child for being ‘different’.

Its 2020 surely our children should know that just because a child may have a different colour skin, be shortere, taller, speak differently, orf have a different way of doing things doesn’t mean they are odd or strange as every man, woman and child is unique, differnet in their own special way, my god the world would be a very boring place if we were all the same.

Growing up I was always taught “if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all”, we need to bring that back!!!

If our children are unsure of another child it’s up to us as parents to introduce them and educate them about disabilities, race, religion and differences.

Most of all please, please, please teach our children to be kind. Always.

  • We Were Given The Gift Of Human Kindness

Tonight we were supposed to have ridden the Polar Express. Sadly our son had other plans. You see he is autistic. He was so excited that he became overwhelmed and had an atomic size meltdown. He beat me and his dad up pretty badly. A wonderful woman helped us by holding our stuff while we tried to keep Ty from smashing his head on the bricks. The staff of the Grand Canyon Railway tried so hard to help. They even held the train. Finally, I had to say let’s go back to the room. I cried all the way back. My heart was shattered. I wanted this so badly for my son. He loves trains and he loves the Polar Express. This was a dream come true. But it didn’t happen.

We got to our room and I went into the bathroom and silently cried. My heart ached. Then there was a knock on the door calling out “maintenance!”. My husband answered the door and slipped outside. He came in and said, ” They said they would like to do something “. I stepped out and there was one of the gentlemen that tried to help us and a police officer. They said that they felt horrible about what happened and wanted to know if they could do something special for our family. I started crying again and asked if I could hug them. The poor policeman looked terrified but I didn’t care I hugged anyway sobbing thank you over and over again. I ran into the room and tried to get our son up but he refused so my husband said he would go tell them.

While they were gone I curled up next to my son and read him his favorite book The Polar Express. I had just finished when my husband came back in and he said that there was someone special that wanted to visit. Ty and I shook our head yes and in walks the train conductor. He sat next to Ty’s bed and chatted with him. Ty was star struck. He was so excited and happy. Then the conductor gave Ty his pocket watch!

After the conductor left my husband told me that the hotel and railway offered to reschedule our visit special accommodations! They said that they want everyone to experience something special and magical.

They succeeded. We may not have gotten to ride a train but we got something even more magical…..We got the gift of human kindness!

We Were Given The Gift Of Human Kindness
We Were Given The Gift Of Human Kindness

Thank you to the woman that stayed with us and helped. Thank you to the entire staff at the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel. You have truly made a difference in our lives.

Please share this so everyone knows what an amazing place this is!!

**Update** The conductor came back and gave Ty a bell from the North Pole. He then whispered to us “Tomorrow stop by the station for a refund “. My goodness, this is a special place filled with amazing people!

**UPDATE 11/17/19****The conductor reached out to us today and said that the Grand Canyon Railway wanted us to come back! They are giving us dinner, a hotel room, train tickets, and breakfast all on them! To top everything off The Conductor will be having dinner with us and take Ty on a tour!!! They want Ty to experience his dream of riding the Polar Express!!

My heart is so happy. I can’t thank the Grand Canyon Railway, the Conductor, and the entire staff enough!

We have never experienced a company that cares so much.

Spread the word to the world Williams, AZ and the Grand Canyon Railway/ Polar Express is the world’s most magical place that is filled with the most magical people!

  • There Is More Good In The World Than You Think

Tonight on my flight from Indianapolis to Baltimore I sat next to an unaccompanied minor who was traveling to Baltimore to see her Mother. With Southwest Airlines open seating anyone could have sat next to her, in fact many people avoided her and her boundless energy during boarding. But finally the couple you see in the photo occupied the two seats to her right.

Within minutes the young girl began chatting and the couple likely realized this wouldn’t be a relaxing flight…and they just rolled with it.

As drinks were being served the couple didn’t even get a chance to voice their requests because they were cutoff by the young girl stating “I’ll take water with a straw and so will they so we can paint!”.

And they just rolled with it.

Within minutes the young girl had brought out her Hello Kitty paint sheets and the couple spent the next hour following her instructions- as you can see.

As I type this the man next to her is being covered with Marvel stickers. They are on his ears, in his beard, arms, everywhere. And he is just rolling with it.

Moral of the story: There is good in this world. In fact there is more good than bad in this world if we just open our eyes to it. There isn’t a script or instruction manual for love. You just have to roll with it.

  • How To Talk To Your Daughter About Her Body

HOW TO TALK TO YOUR DAUGHTER ABOUT HER BODY, A MUST READ!!!

Step one: Don’t talk to your daughter about her body, except to teach her how it works.

Don’t say anything if she’s lost weight.

Don’t say anything if she’s gained weight.

If you think your daughter’s body looks amazing, don’t say that. Here are some things you can say instead:

“You look so healthy!” is a great one.

Or how about, “You’re looking so strong.”

“I can see how happy you are — you’re glowing.”

Better yet, compliment her on something that has nothing to do with her body.

Don’t comment on other women’s bodies either. Nope. Not a single comment, not a nice one or a mean one.

Teach her about kindness towards others, but also kindness towards yourself.

Don’t you dare talk about how much you hate your body in front of your daughter, or talk about your new diet. In fact, don’t go on a diet in front of your daughter. Buy healthy food. Cook healthy meals. But don’t say, “I’m not eating carbs right now.” Your daughter should never think that carbs are evil, because shame over what you eat only leads to shame about yourself.

Encourage your daughter to run because it makes her feel less stressed. Encourage your daughter to climb mountains because there is nowhere better to explore your spirituality than the peak of the universe. Encourage your daughter to surf, or rock climb, or mountain bike because it scares her and that’s a good thing sometimes.

Help your daughter love soccer or rowing or hockey because sports make her a better leader and a more confident woman. Explain that no matter how old you get, you’ll never stop needing good teamwork. Never make her play a sport she isn’t absolutely in love with.

Prove to your daughter that women don’t need men to move their furniture.

Teach your daughter how to cook kale.

Teach your daughter how to bake chocolate cake made with six sticks of butter.

Pass on your own mum’s recipe for Christmas morning coffee cake. Pass on your love of being outside.

Maybe you and your daughter both have thick thighs or wide ribcages. It’s easy to hate these non-size zero body parts. Don’t. Tell your daughter that with her legs she can run a marathon if she wants to, and her ribcage is nothing but a carrying case for strong lungs. She can scream and she can sing and she can lift up the world, if she wants.

Remind your daughter that the best thing she can do with her body is to use it to mobilize her beautiful soul.

  • I Want People To Know How Serious Mental Illness Is

Keeping someone alive is hard, physically & mentally. My mum has had a really hard life and sadly she’s now at a stage where she doesn’t want to be here.

She had a difficult childhood, her sister was hit by a car and killed. My mum turned to alcohol and social services put her into a B&B with a bar. She was raped and told that it was her fault for drinking too much. She had a physically and emotionally abusive marriage, she has spent time in psychiatric hospitals and wasn’t always safe in them. Especially the time that she was on suicide watch but managed to walk out unnoticed. She took an overdose and threw herself into moving traffic. She did that because she has schizophrenia, it traumatised her she saw me being tortured, believed that everyone was conspiring with the devil & she was told that she needed to sacrifice her life to save her me. I was 2 years old and nearly lost my mummy.

Being hit by a car left her with brain damage as well as partial sight and hearing and epilepsy. She stopped drinking years ago but the damage was done, she now has liver cirrhosis.

A few years later I was taken from her. She has severe clinical depression, lung disease and many more disabilities and illnesses. Her life is a daily struggle and it only got worse when her husband committed suicide last year. She has no friends and sits alone at home every day, on good days she will go to town where people have knocked her to the ground despite her carrying a blind stick. She’ll go to the doctors and cry and she’ll be sent away, her physical health deteriorates and the doctors surgery always leave her without medication. She can’t concentrate on a book or TV because of her brain damage, she doesn’t feel anything when she listens to music. All she does is sit alone.

My mum is in hospital at the moment, she hates it there. I’m hoping that this post will open up peoples eyes, there are sadly still some people out there who don’t realise a little kindness goes a long way.

Remember that the way you treat people will affect their lives. I want people to know how serious mental illness is, it takes lives just like any other illness and it has so much stigma, please love and look after those around you. Mental illness could hit anyone at any time, even you.

My mum has given me permission to post this, she’s also happy for it to be shared by anyone wanting to 💗

  • Please Teach Your Kids That Others Are Different

    To all who parent;

Please teach your kids that some children are a little “different” and people are not always as “cool” or as “social” as them. To have more understanding and tolerance of those who are a bit quirky or sometimes say things that aren’t always appropriate.

Heck, to just be kind to your fellow human beings!

The last few months has been absolute hell-listening to your 12 year old son in absolute desperation telling you how he wants to kill himself and can’t take it anymore. Getting physically beaten up at the bus stop and telling you “I thought if I just laid there and took it he would get bored and stop”.

To another boy emotionally and psychologically torturing him on a daily basis (slamming him into a wall and breaking his glasses) and for me to reach out to his mother and get blatantly ignored and then “blocked” off FB as she clearly doesn’t want to deal with the situation!

This journey has not only seen him up in hospital 3 times for mental health assessment for suicidal thoughts but has also caused him to develop an eating disorder now but also caused turmoil for myself, my family and our family friends.

All because he has Aspergers and is different.

    • muscle weakness and decreased muscle tone.
    • limited mobility.
    • breathing problems.
    • problems eating and swallowing.
