  • Kinder Egg Warning-Parents Be Aware

Georgina Trinder has taken to Facebook to warn other parents about the potential dangers from a certain toy contained in Kinder eggs.

Trinder said “Hey mummies , just wanna make people aware … I brought my son a kinder egg and inside was bits to build an aeroplane and well…. ended up at the hospital because the wings was so Sharp!! He had to have his foot glued … even the nurses at the hospital was so disgusted with how sharp it was , the age limit does say no under 3s but my son is 3 years old and the could have done damage to an adult let alone a kid …. just wanna let parents know to please be careful with the toys you get from kinder eggs xx”

Kinder surprise also known as Kinder eggs or Ovetto Kinder is manufactored by Ferrero and have been around since 1974. Each chocoloate egg surrounds a plastic capsule that contains a small toy, parents are advised to always supervise their child/ren when eating a Kinder egg and to check the toys for sharp or broken parts.

Below is a photo of the toy that caused the damage to the young boys foot.

  • I Grew Up In A Time Where Everything Was Better

I grew up during a time when everyone treated each other like Family.

We went outside to play on streets, build dens and make tree swings, we got dirty, bathed on a Sunday we didn’t eat fast food….we ate a Sunday dinner…proper home made food  and chips cooked in a proper chip pan!

We got ice cream from Mr whippy when we could afford it, otherwise a choc ice from the freezer. We played football , kerby , Hide and Seek, british bulldog and  Made life long friendships and are still in touch with them today albeit not on a regular basis, but true friends.

There was no bottled water  we drank water from the tap (bathroom tap at night) we shared the same bottle of pop… After we’d wiped it with our mucky sleeves, We only had kids tv after school and Saturday mornings.

We rode our bikes for hours, There was no such thing as a mobile  or any other electronic device.

If someone had a fight, that’s exactly what it was… a fist fight.                                     Kids didn’t have guns or knives. The street lights were our curfew or until our mum shouted us. School was mandatory . We watched our mouths around our elders because we knew we’d get a clip.

Sayings like “What’s for tea?” your guaranteed reply was shit with sugar on “where’s Mum?” Run off with the milk man would be the answer. Nothing was too PC back then.

And you know what everything was better back then, respect was given, manners were used and everyone looked at for one another, life was more simple but it was kinder and happier.

  • Beware Of This Kinder Egg Toy

I wasn’t sure whether to share this because I’m still not over it, I still feel guilty and I am still shaking. But I thought rather than beat myself up I will make awareness.

Maya is 2.5 she has all these little toys that she plays with under strict supervision, she likes to line them up, feed them, put them in little beds etc, she’s always usually so sensible with them and she had stopped putting things in her mouth a good year ago. I know they are from 3+ but absolutely all her toys are and is there really that much difference between a 3-year-old and a little girl who Is 3 in 4 months?! I strongly believe this could happen to a child of any age which is why I’m sharing.

Anyway last night somehow she managed to smuggle one up to bed with her, she must have put it in her mouth and fell asleep because I’m just laying feeding my 11 month old next to her and I hear a weird gargling noise. I immediately sat bolt upright and looked in her mouth to see this tiny toy at the back of her throat.

I quickly yell to her father and he’s there within seconds telling me to phone an ambulance, so I’m screaming words that don’t even make sense down the phone to 999 and he is trying to dislodge this toy. It’s not coming out. He has tried everything and it’s not budging, he flips her back over and blood pours from her throat. Right at that moment I thought she’s dead, this must be a dream, this can’t be happening. As soon as her dad  saw the blood he literally got his finger to back of her throat and pulled it out.

The ambulance came and took her in, she’s fine. She probably has cuts in her throat where the toy was lodged and she was so very distressed after. I can’t stop thinking what if. She was lifeless and she was so nearly gone 💔 obviously all said toys are now in the bin, she will be spot checked every night and I feel like the worst mum in the world, please be careful ❤️

Also I’m not saying it’s kinder eggs fault at all it could have happened with any small toy and a child of any age. It just happened to be the particular toy in question. A freak accident. Thankyou so much for all your messages ❤️
