  • Come And Look After Your Turkey Before We Kill It

Greendale Farm shop has caused uproar after posting the following on their Facebook page

“Come and pick your own Christmas Turkey at the farm shop. We will put a name tag on it and you come and feed it and help look after it for the next two months. You will not need to get involved in any of the difficult bits at the end and we will even bone and stuff it for you when you come and pick it up, in time for Christmas”

Below the post were several pictures of different turkeys which seemed to shock Facebook users.

Genna Davies commented “How much to rescue the turkey and keep it alive” However Darren Taylor had other ideas and replied to Davies with “For every turkey you save I will kill and eat two more”, obviously then a whole internet debate about meat and lives went on, ultimately lots of people were offended and no body agreed. several people were left butt hurt and contacted the Facebook police!

Another Facebook user named Mary J Kirsch said “with eyes to see she is able to feel pain and pleasure, to have friends and enjoy life. Give thanks to a truly peaceful and compassionate way of being and leave animals off your plate. Cruelty free Christmas dinner is delicious and easy to find 1000’s of recipes online for all your traditional favourites without animals”. Darren Taylor couldn’t scroll passed and had to comment he said “Turkey wont feel a thing as she sits on my plate with the spuds and stuffing”.

What are your views would you pick out your live turkey, name it and even visit it and feed it, before having it killed and prepared for your Christmas meal?

  • Do Not Feed Horses Grass Cuttings

DO NOT FEED HORSES GRASS CUTTINGS!!!

This is horrendous and we’re all devastated. Our gorgeous, healthy, happy and much-loved family horse Boston has been killed by somebody feeding our horses a pile of grass cuttings last night. He was the best horse in the world and we can’t believe he’s gone.

The worst part is knowing that this could have been prevented and our lovely Boston could be with us now if he hadn’t been fed accidentally and unknowingly this way. I understand that people who do not have horses will not understand the severity of this but I’m hoping I can reach a few by sharing our story.

PLEASE DO NOT FEED HORSES GRASS CUTTINGS!!!

I’ve been asked to expand on the reasoning for not feeding horses cut grass which I thought this was a good idea as I would like to possibly prevent something like this happening again with someone else, if I could:

Because cut grass is much smaller than grass taken up by horses themselves, a horse eating cut grass wouldn’t chew it and would gorge themselves quickly on it. This would result in saliva not being added to the cut grass and “diluting” it before it reaches the stomach. Cut grass also ferments (which is why it can be warm to touch) and along with the saliva not being added, gives off gases inside the stomach.

These gases cause the stomach to expand to the point of rupture in severe cases like ours with Boston, killing the horse. If the stomach doesn’t rupture due to not as much grass having been eaten, it would instead cause colic in the horse which is dreadful pain in the abdomen which could then lead to killing the horse later too however colic can be treatable.

Horses also do not have a “vomit” reflex meaning they can’t take up the harmful substances once eaten. Another point would be if a horse has been given lawn mower cuttings. These cuttings may also have different plants in, other than grass which could lead to the horse eating kinds of plants that are commonly found but that are poisonous to them and would have otherwise been avoided by the horse due to not being able to take back up the substances.

I hope this post spreads so people can understand how horrific this is. Thank you for reading.

  • Popping Pimples/Spots Can Kill You

    Popping pimples/spots is strangly satisfying.
It’s also really popular on social media and Youtube with people watching huge spots being popped and see all the pus oozing out.
But dermatologists say not to engage in at-home pimple extraction — bursting your pimples can cause breakouts and scar your skin and scarily it can also kill you.
    Wait, what, kill you?
There is a part of your face called the “danger triangle” and popping spots within it is, can be seriously dangerous. The triangle is the area between the corners of your mouth and the bridge of your nose — this is the area that has your sinuses behind it. It also contains nerves and blood vessels that transport blood to the brain and is unfortunately one of the commonest place to have spots.
So, how can this kill you?
If you pop a spot within the danger triangle, the skin can become infected and this infection can permeate these blood vessels. If that happens, the veins that run behind your eye sockets may form a clot to contain the infection. That clot can put pressure on the brain, you kind of need this to live, and can lead to paralysis or even death.
This condition is called Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis. It kills up to 30% of people who get this condition.
Any spots outside on the danger triangle are A-Okay to pop away (if you don’t mind a scar)
    Can’t stop, won’t stop popping
Dermatologists say that popping pimples within your face’s danger triangle can cause infection, but it’s far more likely you’ll experience facial scarring. In order for the condition to truly kill you, the infection would have to be significant and you would need to purposefully avoid treating it.
