  • Covid Spread Science Not Lies

    A Quote From Dr. Fauci:

“Chickenpox is a virus. Lots of people have had it, and probably don’t think about it much once the initial illness has passed. But it stays in your body and lives there forever, and maybe when you’re older, you have debilitatingly painful outbreaks of shingles. You don’t just get over this virus in a few weeks, never to have another health effect. We know this because it’s been around for years, and has been studied medically for years.

Herpes is also a virus. And once someone has it, it stays in your body and lives there forever, and anytime they get a little run down or stressed-out they’re going to have an outbreak. Maybe every time you have a big event coming up (school pictures, job interview, big date) you’re going to get a cold sore. For the rest of your life. You don’t just get over it in a few weeks. We know this because it’s been around for years, and been studied medically for years.

HIV is a virus. It attacks the immune system and makes the carrier far more vulnerable to other illnesses. It has a list of symptoms and negative health impacts that goes on and on. It was decades before viable treatments were developed that allowed people to live with a reasonable quality of life. Once you have it, it lives in your body forever and there is no cure. Over time, that takes a toll on the body, putting people living with HIV at greater risk for health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, diabetes, bone disease, liver disease, cognitive disorders, and some types of cancer. We know this because it has been around for years, and had been studied medically for years.

Now with COVID-19, we have a novel virus that spreads rapidly and easily. The full spectrum of symptoms and health effects is only just beginning to be cataloged, much less understood.
So far the symptoms may include:
    Fever
    Fatigue
    Coughing
    Pneumonia
    Chills/Trembling
    Acute respiratory distress
    Lung damage (potentially permanent)
Loss of taste (a neurological symptom)
    Sore throat
    Headaches
    Difficulty breathing
    Mental confusion
    Diarrhea
    Nausea or vomiting
    Loss of appetite
Strokes have also been reported in some people who have COVID-19 (even in the relatively young)
    Swollen eyes
    Blood clots
    Seizures
    Liver damage
    Kidney damage
    Rash
    COVID toes (weird, right?)

People testing positive for COVID-19 have been documented to be sick even after 60 days. Many people are sick for weeks, get better, and then experience a rapid and sudden flare up and get sick all over again. A man in Seattle was hospitalized for 62 days, and while well enough to be released, still has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Not to mention a $1.1 million medical bill.

Then there is MIS-C. Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children is a condition where different body parts can become inflamed, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs. Children with MIS-C may have a fever and various symptoms, including abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, neck pain, rash, bloodshot eyes, or feeling extra tired. While rare, it has caused deaths.

This disease has not been around for years. It has basically been 6 months. No one knows yet the long-term health effects, or how it may present itself years down the road for people who have been exposed. We literally do not know what we do not know.

For those in our society who suggest that people being cautious are cowards, for people who refuse to take even the simplest of precautions to protect themselves and those around them, I want to ask, without hyperbole and in all sincerity:
    How dare you?

How dare you risk the lives of others so cavalierly. How dare you decide for others that they should welcome exposure as “getting it over with”, when literally no one knows who will be the lucky “mild symptoms” case, and who may fall ill and die. Because while we know that some people are more susceptible to suffering a more serious case, we also know that 20 and 30-year-olds have died, marathon runners and fitness nuts have died, children and infants have died.

How dare you behave as though you know more than medical experts, when those same experts acknowledge that there is so much we don’t yet know, but with what we DO know, are smart enough to be scared of how easily this is spread, and recommend baseline precautions such as:
    Frequent hand-washing
    Physical distancing
    Reduced social/public contact or interaction
    Mask wearing
    Covering your cough or sneeze
    Avoiding touching your face
    Sanitizing frequently touched surfaces

The more things we can all do to mitigate our risk of exposure, the better off we all are, in my opinion. Not only does it flatten the curve and allow health care providers to maintain levels of service that aren’t immediately and catastrophically overwhelmed; it also reduces unnecessary suffering and deaths, and buys time for the scientific community to study the virus in order to come to a more full understanding of the breadth of its impacts in both the short and long term.

I reject the notion that it’s “just a virus” and we’ll all get it eventually. What a careless, lazy, heartless stance.”

    Spread science!!!!

  • How Exercise Can Save Your Life

“My dad took his own life when I was fifteen years old. I’m sure it was traumatic for my mom, but she sort of just sucked it up. She’d already experienced a lot of heartbreak in life. She grew up in a dysfunctional household and became a caregiver at a very young age.

So she was able to conceal her emotions and focus on supporting me and my brother. I was the good kid. I worked hard in school. I played three sports. And Mom supported me in everything I wanted to try. Not in a pushy way. More of a helpful way.

So much of her life was just driving me places: practice, games, extra lessons. Unfortunately her relationship with my older brother was different. Jacob was defiant. He wouldn’t listen. He had a good heart but he was doing a lot of reckless, scary things. One time he stole my mom’s car and she had to call the police.

Jacob had been the one who discovered my dad’s body, and I don’t think he ever fully recovered. Five years later he took his own life. When my mom got that phone call, she came into the living room, laid on top of me, and starting crying. ‘Jacob just shot himself,’ she said. Both of us barely recovered.

I began training for triathlons to deal with my grief. It had been my mom’s suggestion, but I think it inspired her. Because one morning she made herself go outside, lace up her shoes, and take a run. Later she told me that running gave her something to live for.

It allowed her to see color in the world and hear birds chirping. She began to compete in triathlons herself, and eventually became a certified coach. Mom’s ultimate goal was always to finish an Ironman competition, but it didn’t seem possible. She failed on four different attempts. Nobody wanted her to try again. She was 68 years old. She was the oldest female competing in Ironman Texas, and they literally thought she could die.

But Mom was determined to try one more time. I cheered her on the entire way. I walked alongside her while she swam the canal. I biked alongside her while she ran. I remember we were nearing the end of the race, and she had to get to mile eighteen by 9 pm, or she’d be disqualified. I was telling her to pick up the pace. But by then she knew. She looked at her watch, then she looked at me, and said: ‘I’m an hour ahead. I’m going to be an Ironman!”

  • The NHS Is NOT A Charity

Is no one else absolutely furious that they’re being gaslit into believing the NHS is a charity that is funded by donations from working class people?

That a 99 year old man dragging himself up and down a patch of grass is being celebrated? It is nothing to celebrate. It is not a great example of The Great British Blitz Spirit. That’s what the government and the press who prop them up want you to think so you don’t notice their catastrophic failings. It is a stain on this government and the way this country is being run. It is utterly shameful.

Why are we not furious that a pregnant nurse died when she shouldn’t have been at work in the first place while Sicknote Johnson lords it up at his country manor? That care workers are being rewarded for their work with the honour of paying for a fucking badge?

We are being asked to do our bit and dig into our pockets to pay for a service that we already pay for. It is not a charity. You are being asked to pay for the shortcomings of this government. It’s not fucking Comic Relief. Maybe the nasty party should ask their billionaire mates to dig deep or even perhaps pay the taxes that they owe in the first place? The left always knew the last election was literally a matter of life or death and we are seeing it every day and it’s the worst thing to be proven right about. Those of you who voted this utterly disgraceful government into power should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves.

ETA: Those of you arguing on MY post that I shouldn’t be making it political, EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL. Existing is a political act when you’re not a white, middle class, heterosexual, cisgendered man.

I wasn’t expecting so many people to se this post so I’ll add this for clarity:

    VOTE THE TORIES OUT.
    FUND THE NHS.
    GIVE A DAMN

  • My Baby Boy Jude Died Here

Six years ago we spent Thanksgiving weekend getting ready for two more people to join our family. We had no idea then who was coming, the wonderful chaos that would be Thomas and Jude. All we knew was how happy, grateful, thankful we were.

Soon this room was filled with two little boys. Sleepless nights, cries, diaper changes, laughter, toddler babble, and love.

Three and a half years ago Jude died here.

Somehow this room has recovered, kind of, despite only containing one bed. One little boy. Half the laughter. Half the chaos. We can exist here. We can sing and play and love, and know that Jude is still part of our lives. But he should still be playing with us, singing with us, causing trouble. He’s not, because three and a half years ago a flu outbreak came through our community and stole his life from him, stole him from us.

The flu is preventable when we all do our part. ~3500 Canadians and ~36,000 Americans die from the flu every single year, but they don’t have to. The flu shot is starting to become available throughout Canada now, and is easily accessible through the US. If you can find it near you, please get it now. Every flu shot might stop the flu from reaching someone who might not survive it. You could save someone’s grandpa, pregnant wife, dad fighting cancer, or Jude. You can do that. That’s everything.

Thanksgiving is complicated for us now. We have a lot to be thankful for, but we’ve also lost a lot. It’s hard. Help us prevent others from being in our shoes. Get your flu shot, stay home when sick, cover coughs and sneezes, and wash your hands at least eight times a day. Whose life could you save?

  • A Miraculous Micro-Preemie Birth Story

A Miraculous Micro-Preemie Birth Story and Why Every Baby Should Get To Keep Their Own Cord Attached

I have something crazy to tell you. I’ve only ever told a very small handful of people. Very small. I’ve never went public with this.

My micropreemie twins (born at 1 lb, 3 oz and 1 lb, 7 oz) were not born at a hospital.

At 25 weeks gestation, I started to have some cramping in the middle of the night. I took a hot bath and the cramps subsided. I drank tons of water and laid in bed. When I felt a little more cramping, I took another hot bath and they subsided again. I really thought I was fine, nothing to see here. I’ve gone past (even WAY past) my due dates with all my other babies!

Fast forward to early morning and I realized that I needed to get to a hospital NOW.

But it was too late. I felt the urge to push.

    I reached down and felt…

    a baby’s head.

I rushed downstairs to load up in the van (I had already woke up hubby and he was getting us out the door).

    But it was too late.

I went to the downstairs bathroom and instinctively reached down to catch a baby. I put this baby on my right quadricep and reached for another baby with my left hand. I put the second baby on my left quadricep.

Right there in my bathroom. Two teeny babies were born.

I yelled for hubby to get in there and he was already on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. Baby B was still in the sac. I had given birth 4 times before this, three of those times being healthy, full-term homebirths. I knew we needed to rupture the sac so hubby did this in about two seconds. Both 25 week babies were breathing on their own! Baby A was making tiny, little noises.

Soon Baby B started to turn blue though, we thought we were losing her/him. We didn’t know if he/she would make it, if either of them would make it. Hubby takes CPR classes every year at work so he knew exactly what to do.

Hubby gave breaths until the paramedics arrived.

What a sight those men saw!

The paramedics didn’t act panicked but they obviously had no clue what to do. I yelled at them to give my babies oxygen!!

This next decision saved their lives! THIS is why I’m sharing my story!! The paramedics wanted to cut the babies’ umbilical cords so that they could get us to the hospital easier.

They didn’t know they were dealing with an experienced home-birth Mama!!

NO WAY was I letting them cut my babies’ cords!! I don’t even cut my 40-week cords right after birth! And those babies were full-term! The nourishment and stem cells and oxygen that my babies were getting from their cords was their only hope!

The paramedics kept insisting and arguing that we get the cords cut. I replied, “I am NOT cutting these cords, get me on the stretcher and get us to the hospital NOW.” I think they possibly assumed that the babies wouldn’t make it and only mother needed care. I didn’t need any medical attention whatsoever. I just wanted my babies helped!

On the 5 minute drive to the hospital, they still kept pressuring me to cut the cords! I changed the subject… “Can you look and tell me if I have boys or girls or one of each? That poor paramedic having to lift a leg the size of his pinky. He announced the first one… girl. He checked the second one… girl! My heart was melted! Even in a scary situation, I remained calm. Because of Jesus within me!

The key miracle in this story: We made it to the hospital with cords still attached! And babies still alive! They got to keep their cords attached for 20 minutes! Thus saving their lives!

Later that day and for months to come, the neonatologist and staff went on and on and ON about how leaving the cords attached absolutely saved Hannah and Haley’s lives!!! The neonatologist that was there that day had even published a paper about Delayed Cord Clamping!

So whether your baby is 25 weeks or 40 weeks, DEMAND that your baby’s cord is left attached until it has turned completely white and has stopped pulsing! For some babies, this will be 45 minutes to an hour!

To rob a sweet newborn baby of her very own blood is criminal! One-third of the blood that belongs IN your baby’s body is still in the cord and placenta at birth! This means we should be waiting until the cord has turned white and stopped pulsing before we even THINK about cutting off baby’s blood supply!

And seriously, what’s the hurry? Is doctor’s lunch or clean-up more important than your baby getting all those amazing stem cells that go to work doing powerful things? Baby needs those stem cells! They provide healing for every nook and cranny of baby’s body and they provide amazing nourishment. Not only that, but they provide long-term health benefits as well! Staff can work on compromised babies right on Mama’s belly with cord attached!

When babies start off WITHOUT 1/3 of their very OWN blood, they are now compromised and health problems can arise. Please, no matter what any doctor (or paramedic!) ever tells you, let baby have her OWN blood from that cord!!

I will say, the paramedics were only following protocol, I don’t blame them. In fact, they were such sweethearts and visited us in the hospital several times. They genuinely cared about how we were doing. We’ve since visited then at the station and thanked them for arriving quickly and getting us to the hospital in record time.

PS: Your baby’s blood is perfect. Decline the “Vitamin” K shot. If you read the manufacturer’s insert, you’ll see that it can cause death, jaundice, respiratory distress, cardiac distress, and more. It’s not “just a vitamin.” It’s a toxic concoction meant to sludge up your baby’s blood. Your baby is perfect just the way God made her, blood and all! Perfect even at 25 weeks… but 40 weeks is more ideal!

  • Check On Your Loved Ones

I first met Luke when we were 11 years old, starting our first day of secondary school. We were seated next to each other on a seating plan and we instantly clicked, so much so that he came and chose to sit next to me in our lessons that we were allowed to seat ourselves. We would message each other after school, we both liked one another but were too shy to admit it. I moved schools in year 8 and we lost contact.

In June 2016 we regained that contact. We had the same initial spark but we were a lot older now and more open to the idea of a relationship. Luke and I did not have a perfect relationship, but we made some amazing memories together in those almost 3 years that I will never forget. We went on holiday 3 times, we went to concerts, festivals, parties, water parks, we drove around in his car just to spend time together. We always came as a pair, we did everything together. We had our ups and downs like any couple, but we cared for each other so deeply.

What most people will not know is that I struggle with mental illnesses. Luke was always there for me. He came to my college open days where my anxiety would be at an all time high. He supported me through everything and I feel so so guilty that I couldn’t do the same for him. Luke always wanted me to follow my dreams, go to college, go to uni and pursue my dream career. My life has just been turned upside down, but however long it takes me, I will do it for you Luke.

Luke lived with my family and I, I saw him every single day and I was still oblivious to him being in this dark place. Please check on your friends, your partner, your co-workers, anyone and everyone in your life. You really never know what is going on in somebody’s mind.

Luke, I hope wherever you are you can see how much me, my family, your family and your friends care for you. Not a day will go by where I won’t think of you. I wish I could’ve supported you in the same way you did for me. I wish you would’ve talked to me, I would’ve understood. It feels weird talking about you in the past tense, I don’t think this will ever fully sink in. I will miss you so so so much. I’m not just mourning my boyfriend. I’m mourning my best friend, my support system, the only person I felt I could turn to. I will love you forever.

  • I Hate School What Is It Teaching Me-Nothing!

I hate school – and no it’s not because ‘i’m a teenager’ and don’t like waking up at 7:00am every morning, it’s because the school system isn’t about learning anymore, it’s about passing. Pretty much every teenager ever is so stressed out about school that they suffer with mental health issues, fake illnesses and even try to kill themselves but yet nobody has thought to themselves “maybe our system is flawed” and instead given teenagers the reputation of ‘kids that are lazy and selfish’ like whats up with that?

I mean, who really cares about finding the area of a stupid triangle? Teach me how to raise a family, drive a car, get a job, pay bills and LIVE A HAPPY LIFE! I’m forced to sit in a classroom for 6 hours straight and learn about things that I’m not interested in and will probably never use in my life after my exams. And what really annoys me is that teachers don’t understand that some students suffer from mental health disorders like social anxiety and force them to talk in class for a high-grade, or that some students suffer with depression and teachers just assume they are moody and negative all the time.

Students are in tears every single night and wake up every single morning wanting to throw up at the thought of going to school, thinking that they’d rather be dead than go to school. How is that fair? The fact that i have to choose between my grades and my health is really messed up. X

  • This Medication Allows Me To Deal With Life

I nearly stopped myself from posting this. Numerous times.  Because I didn’t want to be one of ‘those’ people. I didn’t want to be another blogger with another mental health issue. I didn’t want to lay out a sympathy post. But for those of you who know me & those of you who don’t. I have a secret to tell you.

So if your unlucky enough to know what these tablets are, then I don’t have to describe to you what this post is regarding. But if you don’t I will fill you in.

That medication allows me to deal with a normal day to day life. Although most days it leaves me tired, spaced out and emotionless. Crazy right?  Why would anyone want to feel like that. Well this is why.

You see I suffer from depression and anxiety. My anxiety is usually spurred on by a ‘dark’ mood. Let me start by saying, I don’t have suicidal thoughts, I never have & I hopefully never will. My depression takes me to other places. Simple things like relationships and friendships become so trivial, so complicated.

In my brain it doesn’t sit right, something seems different. I notice little differences that ‘normal’ people wouldn’t notice.

That comment you didn’t tag me in, but you tagged other people? I saw that, why didn’t you tag me? What’s up with me?

You read that message, I saw you did, but you didn’t reply.. why didn’t you reply? Have I done something to upset you?

You didn’t say I love you on the phone.. do you not love me anymore? Do you love someone else instead?

They just made a comment about me. Was it a joke? Was I supposed to laugh? Or do they mean it? Are they being nice? Are they talking about me? Do they talk about me? I bet they hate me.

Am I doing this right? Is this what a dad should do? What if this is wrong. Oh god. What if someone reports me. What if they take my kids. Should I hide? Should I leave. I’m a bad dad. I can’t do this.

Am I good enough? Should I just run away and hide?

And for all those questions I will spend hours trying to answer. Let it all build up in my mind, until it sends me to tears…… it’s mental that isn’t it. That I see things that way. Some call it psycho but what it really is.. is a mental illness.

It’s not only mental changes, but physical changes. I eat a lot, mainly rubbish, because I need it now and I need the energy from lack of sleep. Insomnia, up all night answering questions to situations that don’t even exists.

I still smile and I have every excuse for when you ask why.

    But this tablet helps me.

Because I know when I start to feel this way or think this way, I need help.

I know that when my behaviour starts to change, I need guidance.

And I understand that I don’t need to be ashamed. I don’t need to be understood. I just need to be accepted. Everyone is fighting a battle and sometimes you need to be kinder.

So I may just be another blogger who’s talking about mental health. But this is the reason for my silence recently. For my lack of posts. For my lack of enthusiasm.

And to my friends and family. I love you and I’m grateful, because living with this illness is hard, but trying to understand it, is harder.

    Don’t suffer in silence.
