  • Girls Shouldn’t Have To Walk In Fear

We live in a world where ‘no’ means ‘convince me’.
Where girls walk home with keys between clenched fists.
Where a skirt defines if she’s asking for it or not.
Where girls are slut shamed and men are seen as kings.

When out at the club, guys respect ‘I have a boyfriend’ more than my ‘no’.
It’s a lie, but vital for female survival.
The bullshit we do to not get raped…
While men are excused for the culture they create.

    “Not all guys”
Tell that to Meagher or Dixon, oh wait, they’re dead.
My heart bleeds for the millions of victims.
But right now my veins burst fury red.

Because it may be ‘not all guys’
    But it’s every fucking woman.
Don’t tell me how to dress or when I can leave.
Teach men how to be a decent human being. 🤬

  • A Day In The Life Of A Reactive Dog

A day in the life of a reactive dog

Hello. I’m a reactive dog. People call me ‘reactive’ because I sometimes bark, growl and lunge towards other dogs, people, cats, cars – some of those things, or all of them.

‘Reactive’ is a label though and I would like you to understand what it’s really like to be ‘reactive’ and how I actually feel when I ‘react’.

If you are a ‘reactive’ dog, certain things, taken for granted by other dogs – such as a simple walk in the park or a trip to a dog show, become a bit more complicated. While I would love to be able to investigate all the fantastic smells in the park, or have a great time in a training class, scoffing off some yummy treats and exercising my brain cells, life for me is sadly full of anxiety and fear, and instead of enjoying these events, I am constantly on edge.

Why, you might want to ask? Can’t you just, like, get over it?

Nothing ever happens to you when you are out, why get yourself so worked up?

The problem is, ‘getting over it’ is not that simple. My anxiety and fear stem from many things – I might not have been socialized properly when young, or I might have had a bad experience. That means that certain things (other dogs, small children, load noises, people coming up to say hello) fill me with anxiety, fear or sometimes even panic. In many of those situations, if I could, I would probably run away, but many a time I can’t as I’m attached to a lead or cornered (like when another dog comes up to me and doesn’t want to leave me alone). But what sometimes works to make scary things go away is barking and growling at them – even bouncy dogs eventually get it. And while I might not look pretty or friendly when I growl and bark and lunge – hey! It works to get me out of a sticky situation and makes me feel safe again.

It’s not easy to feel scared every time I leave the house, and it’s not nice to see my owner tensing up or upset every time I feel I need to react. People shout abuse at me sometimes, ask my owner to muzzle me or even never walk me. But frankly, I don’t mean anyone any harm, I just want to be left alone. My owner works so hard to convince me that life isn’t all that scary after all – she feeds me yummy treats when a scary things approaches, she keeps me safe by helping me move out-of-the-way rather than walk towards what is bound to upset me, she really, really tries, and I am slowly learning to trust things that used to freak me out loads.

But every now and then, just when I start thinking that maybe other dogs, people, cars etc. aren’t that scary after all, someone or something comes up a bit too close and my old fears come back – and all I can do is panic and scream (that is bark, growl and lunge) to make them go away.

So next time you see one of us – reactive dogs – out and about, please please – don’t judge. Don’t shout abuse at my owner who is trying all she can to make me feel safe. If you’re asked to call your dog away, please do, and don’t ask questions or claim your dog can do no harm as he’s friendly (to us, reactive dogs, that’s sometimes even worse!). Don’t let your children stroke us unless our owner says it’s fine. Just give us a bit of space so we can be on our way.

    Thank you so much!

  • Don’t Avoid Me Just Because I Wear A Muzzle

    Dear children and parents-

This is Jinxx. She is a one year old rescue agility dog who also wears a *muzzle* in order to enjoy a free and happy life.

This is because she has a sensitive stomach. Jinxx was starved as a puppy, resulting in a very delicate digestive system, and also no self control when it comes to food (I use the term ‘food’ very loosely!).

This is the only reason she wears a muzzle. She is not aggressive to people or dogs. She is not reactive. She is not a biter. She is a foodie, and I cannot afford hundreds of £s in vet bills every week for drugs and pumps. So she wears a muzzle.

The other day, whilst walking Jinxx and our three other dogs, children walking to school saw her (on a lead) and screamed at her, jumped and ran away from her. As you can imagine, this was quite distressing for our dogs. We also encountered parents yanking their children away from her. No wonder over a third of children in the UK are scared of dogs!

The silly thing that I noticed was that people are not scared of an unmuzzled dog, and yet will scream in the face of a muzzled dog. Surely, an unmuzzled dog will do more damage than a dog who has a barrier over their teeth?

Anyway, my request to parents is to please educate your children that a muzzled dog cannot hurt them, and that a muzzled dog is not always muzzled for aggression.

Of course there are irresponsible dog owners who will not muzzle their aggressive dogs, but I like to think for the most part that dog owners are responsible, compassionate people who care for not only their dogs but also the people and animals around them.

To end this post on a lighter note, thank you to all of the dog owners who we have encountered who allow Jinxx (and her brothers) to have a play with their own dogs 🐕 🐾

If you see us out and about, feel free to ask for a pet of one of our dogs. You can identify Jinxx from her big ears, and the gold coloured muzzle she wears. Thank you.

[TL;DR not all muzzled dogs are aggressive so teach your children not to scream in their faces.]

  • Starbucks We Need To Talk These Need A Warning Label

Starbucks, we need to have a f*cking talk.

Whoever invented these things needs to go to f*cking prison for not supplying a warning label.

I am an avid coffee drinker. Several cups a day nearly every day, for at least, bare minimum, 7 years. I have taken high content caffeine supplements before to keep me going. I am no stranger to caffeine. I like the energy jolt.

When I go to an actual Starbucks, I often order a venti caramel macchiato with a triple shot of espresso and I am fine. I am energized and productive. I feel good and alert.

But this? This is not the same espresso. There’s no f*cking way.

This? Whoever on your team designed this drink deserves to go to hell.

I bought one of these today as I did on opening shift at work. I saw this and decided to purchase it because it was new and the double shot canned drinks have been starting to lose their effect on me. I figured that this would make me far more productive than if I had gotten the double. I was wrong.

After the first hour (at 10am), I started to get jittery. Nothing too alarming, as I always get jitters no matter how much caffeine I take in shortly after I have it. However, from there it did not fade. It only got worse.

By 10:30, I was running around the store like a f*cking crazy person. My hands were shaking so badly that I could barely run the register. I was typing at lightning speed and I could probably have run up a wall. I was quite literally vibrating. I had finished cleaning tasks that normally take me until about 1pm.

By 11, the world around me seemed like it was moving in slow motion compared to how I was existing in the world. Time was no longer real. I could see sounds and hear colours.

By noon, I was manually breathing and was barley blinking, only blinking when my eyes were dry as shit because this hell drink stimulated me so heavily that my body suddenly forgot how a body was supposed to work. My teeth would not stop grinding. I could not be still for a moment out of fear that I might have imploded.

By 12:30, I suddenly developed an overwhelming need to shit. In addition to focusing on remembering to breathe and blink, I was concerned I would vomit, shit my pants, or possibly even both.

By 1pm, I felt like I could lift a f*cking mack truck. If someone had tried to rob me at gun point then I probably would have been capable of plucking bullets out of the air. I was visibly vibrating and still manually breathing and blinking. I could feel my heartbeat in every part of my body. I could see microorganisms in the air. I could hear the refrigerators at the Winn Dixie across the plaza where I bought this fucking hell beverage. I thought that if I died at 21 it would be because of alcohol poisoning or a car accident or a mugging but instead I’m going to go out because a fucking Starbucks beverage gave me the strength to lift a mack truck

By 1:30, I began experiencing bouts of crying from fear. I was still manually breathing and blinking and was painfully aware of my veins. I was still concerned I may shit my pants. Payton brought me some pizza for lunch and I devoured it as well chugged 3 bottles of water, praying to the old gods and the new for some salvation. The ingredients in your hell drink laughed at me, unaffected by my attempts to cancel out the effects of what I think may be actual crack in this can.

By 2pm, I had abandoned all hope of salvation. I was clenching my butthole and doing breathing exercises, counting down the last hour before my shift ended. My veins were throbbing and I was dizzy. I have never regretted a purchase more in my life.

It is now 4:30. I am finally experiencing a caffeine crash unlike anything I’ve previously felt. I fear I am going to die. My heart rate has returned to normal but dueto it almost exploding this morning, I am concerned it may stop.

Starbucks, today I experienced ego death. I met God today and he laughed in my face.

Death does not ride in on a pale horse. He comes in a can of Starbucks caramel triple shot coffee.

  • The Amount Of People Injured Or Killed Is Shockingly High

PLEASE SHARE TO MAKE OTHERS AWARE!

Las year whilst In Asda me and my three children where going up the Travelator/escalator/moving walk way to look at the clothes section.

I had two of my children behind me and my 6-year-old was in front of the trolley, as we got to the top my son Elijah got his shoe lace stuck in the top where you step off, his lace was being pulled into mechanism pulling his leg downwards whilst my son tried to rip his leg upwards, screaming in agony and you could see the pain and panic in his eyes.

My trolley was in the way and I had to squeeze past to quickly whip his shoe off, the shoe was ripped to bits.

His big toe was badly cut, he had ripped his muscles up his leg, the hospital said he was lucky that his injuries were so minor.

PLEASE CHECK THEIR LACES and make sure anything loose is out-of-the-way.

  • Anxiety Is More Than Just Fear And Worry

Anxiety isn’t just having a hard time catching your breath. Anxiety is waking up at 3 am from a dead sleep because your heart is racing.

Anxiety is breaking out in a rash for no reason. Anxiety is stressing over things that may or my not be real. Anxiety is questioning your faith, how could my creator allow me to feel this way!?

Anxiety is calling your sister 3 hours before she gets up for work, in hopes she’ll answer so you can get your mind off the attack. Anxiety is a 2 am shower.

Anxiety is your mood changing in a matter of minutes. Anxiety is uncontrollable shaking and twitching. Anxiety is crying, real and painful tears. Anxiety is nausea. Anxiety is crippling. Anxiety is dark. Anxiety is having to make up excuse after excuse for your behavior.

Anxiety is fear. Anxiety is worry. Anxiety is physically and emotionally draining. Anxiety is raw. Anxiety is real. Anxiety is a fight with your spouse, even though you’re not mad. Anxiety is snapping at the smallest annoyance. Anxiety is flashbacks. Anxiety is “what if.” Anxiety is a lot of “what’s wrong” and “I don’t know.”

Your feelings matter. Just because you’re bothered by something others aren’t, it doesn’t make you crazy or worthless. Some of the most successful people in life have anxiety. This is not your fault. This is not the end. You are strong. You are intelligent. You are brave. You are worthy.

  • Dear Teacher Please Look After My Baby

    Dear teacher

    I know you’re rather busy

First day back, there’s just no time

A whole new class of little ones

And this one here is mine

I’m sure you have things covered

And have done this lots before

But my girl is very little

    She hasn’t long turned four

    In her uniform this morning

She looked so tall and steady

But now beside your great big school

I’m not quite sure she’s ready

Do you help them eat their lunch?

Are you quick to soothe their fears?

And if she falls and hurts his knee

    Will someone dry her tears?

And what if no-one plays with her?

    What if someone’s mean?

What if two kids have a fight

    And she’s caught in between?

You’re right, I have to leave now

It’s time for her to go

I’m sure she’ll learn so much from you

    Things that I don’t know

Yes, I’m sure they settle quickly

That she’s fine now without me

I know she has to go to school

It’s just so fast, you see

It seems like just a blink ago

I first held her in my arms

It’s been my job to love, to teach

To keep her safe from harm

So, when I wave goodbye in a moment

And she turns to walk inside

    Forgive me if I crumple

Into tears of loss and pride

I know as I give her one more kiss

    And watch her walk away,

That she’ll never again be wholly mine

    As she was before today.

  • Nurses Shouldn’t Be Scared To Call In Sick

My friend had a sky-rocket temperature, I did not have a temperature gauge at the time to take her temperature however she was burning up, to touch she was very hot, it was like touching a radiator. She was talking gibberish and was feeling somewhat rotten.

I had assisted my friend in having a bath and using the toilet, I had given her paracetamol to cool her down and helped her to eat and drink, you see me, and this friend are very close and have known each other for years so I look after her when she needs me, and vice versa. However, this whole situation could have been avoided.

You see this friend works for the NHS, the place where you go to get better.

This friend however feels victimized and bullied by the people whom employ her. I have also heard that other members of staff where she works feel the same.

My friend began to feel poorly on the Friday, she was due in work on the Saturday and Sunday, on the Saturday when she awoke she was very poorly, she had a temperature and she hardly had the strength to walk. When I told her that she needed to get some rest and cancel work she told me that she was already on a stage 1 disciplinary for sickness and that she was fearful of the manager.

The reason she was on a stage one disciplinary, she had been off 3 times (Each time for 1 day or less) in the space of 1 year, 365 days.

    The reasons being?

Work related injuries, a bad shoulder and sickness bugs contracted from cleaning up shit and vomit all day every day.

On the first day my friend went to work and came home 1 hour early due to nearly collapsing whilst doing her job.

On the Sunday my friend went into work again, she had stayed in bed until 12 noon, which is not like her at all, she then got up and dragged herself to work for her late shift, again I had helped her have a bath and dress. I advised her not to go into work, however she still feared losing her job or getting a bad reference when she leaves, which she intends on doing this year.

I HAVE a massive question to ask, why in the fuck as human beings do we allow someone to have authority over us to the point that we will go into work when we are dead on our feet in fear of punishment from management?

Why do we have to watch what we (nurses, care staff, doctors.) post on social media in fear of being taken into the office?

It is time to change, it is time new rules were bought in, yes there are people out there that take the piss, they should be dealt with. The ones that say they are ill and then go out and have a beer with the lads and plaster it all over social media. They are the people who should be facing disciplinary action.

However, when you have a nurse whom has done the job for over a decade and is rarely ill, when you have a nurse whom is as a 30-year-old woman fearful of her manager. Then we must start to question, when does enough become enough?

When does the welfare of he nurses, doctors and ambulance crew come into the picture?

When does the welfare of the families of these staff come into the picture?

When does the world wake up and say thank-you, how many people say thank-you to their nurse or doctor?

If there are any managers reading this, how many times do you thank your staff for their work? Or are you concentrating on the things that they have not done, are you concentrating on the fact that they are 2 minutes late as they struggle to get their kids into school on time and then into work. How many times have you asked your workers if they are ok? if there is anything you can do to support them at work?

I today have taken time off work to support my friend. My friend means more to me than any job ever will.

Maybe if we all took a stand when it was necessary to do so, then the care sector managers and higher staff would realise that they are not feared, and that fear is not a way to gain respect and control. To gain respect you must earn it. Respect is earned not given.

Bullies, they get nowhere, as there is always someone around the corner willing to stand up to them.

Remember people, the only person whom can allow someone to have authority over you, is you.

  • I Am Terrified To Leave My House-Punish A Muslim

I am terrified to leave my house today, I wear my hijab with pride it is part of my religion, over the last decade hate towards me and other Muslims have grown.

Yes there have been many terror attacks by people claiming to be Muslims but they are not true Muslims, we believe in love and peace not hatred, death and violence.

Do you class all Christians as racists and part of the KKK? Nope you don’t so please don’t label all Muslims as terrorists.

There has been a letter circulating around London and on social media declaring April the 3rd as punish a Muslim day, with a sick point scoring system, punish us for what? t is a sall minority who do harm, the rest of us have done nothing.

I will not be leaving the house, my son and daughter will not be going out, I will not eningmy front door, my phone is going to be turned off and all my windows and doors will blocked with the curtains drawn, I am in fear of being hurt and I have done no wrong.

Please see me as a person, a mum, a wife, look passed my attire, look passed my religion and see me, a mummy to two who has livd in England all of my life.

I am a proud Muslim and a proud member of Britain, I to shed a tear and hate what happens with terrorist but I am not a part of it, my husband, my children and I have done you no wrong, we are innocent.

Please do not target anyone today, let’s make the 3rd of April a day of love and not of hate, why not have hug a muslim day or say hello to one another as you walk down the street, why not build a relationship with our neighbours and love one another #loveoneanother
