  • Give Drivers An Instant Ban Before Court

An appeal from Christina… Please support #TomsLaw 🙏

The pictures below are of me and my partner Tom. Tom showed me what love is and everyday made me feel loved and special. We were planning our future and were excited ❤️

On the 23rd February 2019 Tom collected his friends as they went for a groomsman suit fitting in Bristol. Tom was super excited about being asked to be groomsman for his best friend’s. They had a lovely time and travelled home safely. Tom and his friends hadn’t seen eachother very much as they were all working long hours. They had a few drinks, I offered to pick them up and drop them home but Tom didn’t want to wake me as I had work early in the morning. He was always so thoughtful.
Tom then took a taxi home.
In the early hours of 24th February 2019 Tom was dropped off and was speaking to a taxi driver when a drunk driver came along and hit Tom leaving Tom fatally Injured in the middle of the road. The driver didn’t stop or even slow down and continued driving for over 30 miles before burning the car out he stole. He didn’t even stop to offer Tom any help or know how injured Tom was.
A witness tried to help Tom and called him an ambulance. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead when he arrived. Me and Tom’s family then received the dreaded knock at the door in the early hours from police officers telling us Tom was never coming home 💔 it was like someone just ripped our hearts out. The thought of never being able to speak, cuddle or having a day with Tom is truly heart breaking.
Tom’s killer was handed in. With every thing we had to take in, and preparing Tom’s funeral, and court attendances then being told his killer can’t be immediately banned from driving as only a court can do this.
This made it even harder to know our world had been ripped apart but his killer could carry on like normal until court bans him.
Due to the length of time it took to conduct the investigation etc Tom’s killer wasn’t banned from driving until 11 months after he killed Tom. People think this is law already but it’s not. We still have coroner’s court to go to yet. Everyday we wake up to Tom not being here. Tom will never be forgotten and lives on in our memories however much we wish for him to be here in person.

This is why we have now started a government petition for Tom’s Law.
Tom’s Law is to give police officers the power to suspend a driving licence immediately if a person fails a roadside breath/Drug test or has dashcam footage of a dangerous driver until an offender attends court. This can then be for a court to decide if a ban continues or stops.

We are doing this in memory of Tom and for anyone else who has lost someone to a drunk, drugged or dangerous driver

We need to reach 100,000 signatures for the government to debate this in parliament. Please help us by signing and sharing as this could save lives🙏

  • Holocaust Survivor Beaten In A Taxi

Hanka Fogelman, a 92 yr old Holocaust survivor, had used a ‘shared’ taxi that’s part of a service for people who can’t drive or use normal public transport, because of their physical and mental disabilities.

When the taxi arrived, there were already two passengers in it, a woman sitting in the passenger seat, and a man sitting in the back.

Just minutes after the car door had closed, the taxi driver mentioned to Hanka that the guy could be “aggressive, even slightly dangerous”. He was obviously aware that the man was dangerous. The guy began to attack Hanka, punching her in the face until her face was mottled with bruises and blood gushed from her nose.

When police officers arrived, they found the attacker sitting in the back quietly, occupied with a crossword puzzle,

Hanka had to be taken straight to the hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

This poor lady was beaten to what could have been easily to an inch of her life, due to her old age.

She had lacerations across her face, a broken nose, and a face so bruised it was alarming to see.

Apparently the guy had an intellectual disability and completely unaware of his actions.

When Debbie, Hanka’s daughter, became aware of what happened she flew over to be with her mother. She is understandably shocked and angry, and raised some questions that really should be answered.

If the taxi driver was aware that the man was known to become physically violent, why did he allow him in the taxi, and more so, why allow a vulnerable woman to be seated next

    to him….

  • Attention All Road Users-Horses and The Law

    ***Attention ALL road users***

Imagine this…. You’re driving to work and you’re running a bit late so you take a short cut down a side street or country road. You are going quite fast and you notice a horse and rider up ahead. The road is fairly straight and you can see there are no oncoming vehicles so you only slow down slightly in preparation to pass.

As you approach the horse suddenly side steps/jumps into the middle of the road, you’re going to fast, you slam on your breaks but it’s not enough, you close your eyes and hope for the best, you hear terrible crashing sounds and breaking glass then….. silence. Are you still alive? Did the horse and rider survive? You have a lot more protection than them and you can feel that you’re injured. Now you’re going to be really late for work, if you even get there. You could lose your driving licence, maybe face jail time for death by dangerous driving.

A horse is an animal with its own instincts and reactions. A horse is a flight animal that WILL run from anything it perceives as a danger/predator. Horses were our mode of transport long before cars were even imaginable. The horse in the above scenario could have spooked for a number of reasons; a pheasant bursting out of the hedge line, suddenly noticing an animal or farm machinery in a field, a farmer or hunter shooting a rifle, a low flying aircraft, even the sound and vibrations from the car approaching too fast.

It’s not practical to expect all horse riders to stay off the roads and quite frankly that’s a very selfish and childish attitude to have, after all they were on the roads long before your car/van/motorcycle/truck was. If you encounter a horse and rider while out driving please be cautious and courteous and pass wide and slow when it’s safe to do so. Please also pay attention to the rider and any hand signals they make as they can usually see more than you can. Take a moment while you relax at home to look up a horse riders hand signals and what they are telling/asking other road users to do. Also imagine that it’s your child or a family member on the back of that large, strong animal. It could save a life and that life could be yours.

    ***ADDITION FROM SINNIE KYLIE CURRIE***

You don’t want a horse stuck in your windscreen repeatedly kicking you in the face either.

Also By QLD GOV law at least – vehicle drivers must stop at the side of the road and turn off their motor if a horse rider signals that their horse is jumpy or agitated. The horse rider can signal to the driver by raising a hand and pointing to the horse. The driver must not move the vehicle until the noise of the motor, or the movement of the vehicle, won’t aggravate the horse….so I’m guessing it’s still illegal to hit a horse with a car…again in QLD anyway.

That is for those who don’t care about the animal as they will care about the possible charges, fines and insurance issues.

  • Killed By A Dangerous Driver Please Help Us Change The Laws

This beautiful angel is Violet-Grace Youens, we call her an angel because she is no longer with us, she is no longer with her mummy, daddy or her baby brother…

She was walking from school after an afternoon play with her cousins one day when she and her nana were hit by a stolen car, the driver of the car then fled the country within 3 hours of the incident, we would like to support their campaign to ensure this doesn’t happen again, or if in the event it does, the punishment will fit the crime.

    💜VIOLET-GRACE’S LAW💜

    Please help, sign and share!

We need as many signatures as possible. The current sentence for Death by Dangerous Driving is outdated – the punishment does not fit the crime. We are petitioning for the government to act now… life sentences for Death by Dangerous Driving were discussed in parliament in autumn 2017; however, we are now in 2019 and more innocent people have been killed, and then insulted due to current sentencing guidelines. We are petitioning for Life Sentences for Death by Dangerous Driving – with a minimum tariff of 15 years (current minimum tariff for murder). Please see the petition for more detail.

On 24th March 2017, Violet-Grace Youens was 4-years old when she was mowed down with her nan, by a stolen car that was travelling around 85mph, in a 30 mph residential area. The driver and passenger fled the scene, with the driver fleeing the country within a matter of 3 hours. He is in prison now, but as it stands he will serve half his sentence in prison and half in the community, just over 4 years in prison – meaning he will be in prison less time than Violet was on this earth.

Violet was too poorly from her extensive injuries, and sadly passed away the next evening. Violet became a life-Saving organ donor.

Violet’s nan has been left with life changing injuries and the driver serves his sentence for her nan the same time as Violet, rather than separately.

We want to make the roads a safer place, no parent, or family should feel this pain – we have a life sentence without Violet-Grace.

  • God Bless And Protect Our Drivers

Father, who is this gentleman who is dead?

    I don’t know, son.

Just know he was a truck driver.

The young man is approaching a person with a white shirt and a very elegant pants, he was the boss of that driver, the boy grabs his hand and asks.

Can I know what a truck driver is?

The boss responds to a voice and his eyes full of tears

    A driver

Is a person who sleeps less than a lot of people,

It goes through the cold, heat, sun, rain, hunger, hours drive and endless waiting.

And there are moments when he doesn’t have days, Christmas, new year and many other important moments,

He’s very far away from his family.

    From their children

    From his wife

From his parents, brothers and sisters,

Regularly gets scolded or even beaten when they try to steal his goods…

    Go through thousands of fears…

If he leaves for work, he doesn’t know if he’s going home.

Or if he has to work for a few days because of the bad weather, or worse still lose his life…

.. That’s part of what a “truck driver” is.

Suddenly, the sound of a phone that is in the pocket of the deceased’s pants……

The boss leaves the child for a moment to take the cell phone, he sees it’s a message from his daughter and with very low voice starts reading it

    He reads:

(hello daddy ❤, I took the cell phone from mom

To wish you a happy birthday, I look forward to seeing you and giving your gift because after 2 days you are not back, I look forward to cutting your cake

Today we’re going to do it together!!

I love you, daddy. You’re a great father.

    I send you a kiss

I’ll wait for you at home.

That’s the life of a “driver” unfortunately often tragic

Regardless of his society, as a passenger or freighter…

If you can spread the post so that people instead of criticism appreciate the effort of a driver!

God bless and protect all drivers!

    Peace with his soul…
