  • Heres Why You Don’t Sleep In Contacts

“I sleep in my contacts all the time and I’ve never had a problem.”

As an eye doctor, I literally hear this daily. The picture shows a referred case from the local urgent care, a subsequently cultured pseudomonas ulcer, and are the direct result of sleeping in contact lenses. Pseudomonas (bacteria) is an important cause of ocular morbidity and its opportunistic characteristics quickly lead to permanent blindness. This will be the 4th case of cultured pseudomonas that I’ve treated in my clinic.

The bacteria explosively eats away at the patients cornea in a matter of days leaving a soupy, white necrosis (dead tissue) in its wake. I was able to start this patient on fortified antibiotic drops around the clock and recently steroids to reduce permanent scarring. While this patient’s eye continues to drastically improve from baseline, she will very likely exhibit some form of residual vision loss even after treatment.

To be very clear, I don’t ever recommend sleeping in any brand of SOFT contact lenses. The risks outweigh the benefits every time. It takes seconds to remove your contacts but a potential lifetime of irreversible damage if you choose to leave them in. People need to see these images and remind themselves/family/friends to also be aware of contact lens misuse.

  • Warning To Bugaboo Pram Owners

Warning for all looking to buy Bugaboo pram!!! Our Bugaboo 3 pram collapsed suddenly today while carrying my 2-year-old on a busy road. The handle locking system malfunctioned causing the pram to lose it’s balance and collapsed.

My son was lying flat at the time and cracked his head on the metal frame when it collapsed, which resulted in head injuries and lots of blood loss. We took him to the nearby walk-in centre where the nurse has examined him and put in stitches to help healing the wound.

We are back home now, recovering from the shock and anger, while watching out for symptoms such as vomiting or loosing consciousness. Bugaboo has always marketed their products as reliable and sturdy, we’ve been extremely disappointed and would like to warn everybody who are looking to spend a fortune on this brand!

    credit Joana Daley

Joana Daley posted this on Facebook and many other mums commented that they had similar problems with this Bugaboo pram, people are urged to report any such occurrences to the company in the hopes of a fix or a recall of the pram.

Several people also commented and said they have had no issues what so ever with the pram but said they would check the pram carefully before each use.

  • Trampoline Causes Heated Argument

After the recent strong winds there has been some damage to people’s gardens, fences and even vehicles, but one person had a trampoline blow into their back garden, damaging a fence and smashing a shed window, accidents happen right?

    Trampoline Causes Heated Argument
    Trampoline Causes Heated Argument

We have kept the name anonymous but the lady posted the above to her local sales page and the owner of the trampoline immediately came forward to say it was hers.

    Trampoline Causes Heated Argument
    Trampoline Causes Heated Argument

The unnamed woman actually went round and dismantled the trampoline and took it away however she did not pay for the damages.

The internet obviously had to have its say, and no one can agree on what is the correct outcome.

John Lee Barry said “How hard is it to anchor your stuff down, especially when we were all forewarned strong winds were coming? Yes she should pay for any damages and apologise, trampolines are taken by the wind so easily its common sence to tie it down, insurance should cover the damages anyway”.

Amanda Connor replied with “It is an act of god, it is not the owner of the trampolines fault it blew away and the other person needs some life lessons in manners, plus could have had a free trampoline, her garden looks so boring and it’s not like it has destroyed a new car or something it’s a bit of wood and one cheap arse window”.

What is your view on this, should the owner of the trampoline be expected to pay fo damages, what would you do if one blew into your garden or yours flew away?

  • My Vape Exploded In My Face And Damaged My Room

I Vape (I know, terrible and uncool) but I no longer do and I hope to possible sway those that do to maybe reevaluate or find other methods of smoking or giving up.

I had been Vaping for around a year and assure you I did not do anything I wasn’t supposed to (battery was in right, always had the shop put it together when I first bought it and add things and maintenance it the right way while taking their advice) but it exploded in my face.

I lost at least 7 teeth, 2nd degree burns to face and neck and had to pull large and small chunks of plastic, teeth and foreign objects from mouth, throat and lips. I was lucky and they’re was a huge amount of damage to the room in my house I was in as well.

I never had any issues with over heating or concerns until the unfortunate happened. I know vapes help people quit smoking cigarettes and that’s amazing. I just want to bring to light this is possible that they can explode without warning. I would have said “no way that’s possible” until now.

This is not fake, this really happened, I have recovered now and had false teeth put in to replace the ones I lost and barring a few small scars on my face I have healed well, I have not touched a Vape since this happened and I truly hope this never happens to anyone else. Credit Andrew Hall

  • Mum Issues A Stark Warning To All Parents

Mum issues a stark warning to all parents after her family were involved in a terrible car crash – “5-point harness car seats saved my kids lives”

“I have been processing this for days!… A man ran a light as we were going 45 mph and crashed into us head on! There were many wonderful people that stopped. People had to pull our children out of our vehicle. I was trapped inside. I remember a lady asking me if I had 3 children…. as I was screaming “Get my babies!”

Liam could not undo his seatbelt and the truck was covered by airbags and filled with smoke. It was hard for them to see him. He did get out. He is now dealing with issues of “mommy I was left behind!” I was pulled out to hear Alayna screaming “is my mom dead?” I was listed as critical and so was the other gentleman. He was dead on arrival and they revived him.

I left in an ambulance as soon as Neil arrived to the scene. Then my mother in law showed up and she hopped in an ambulance with our girls and Neil went in ambulance with our boys. We had x-rays and cat scans and thank god all was good. Everyone at the ER was in shock that we were alive!

Mum Issues A Stark Warning To All Parents

Thank god for this vehicle that kept the entire cab in tact. Thank god I am a psycho mom who did not listen to her kid and let them ride in a booster! 5 point harness car seats saved my kids lives. Please I am begging you as a mom to really look at this. This could be you! This could be anyone! I would hate to hear about your poor innocent child that died because of a choice that you made for them that could save their life. My children beat the odds on Wednesday and we are very very lucky they are alive.

Booster seat only once 65-100lbs and always back seat. The front seat has wrecked me as a grown adult! Do not do that to these poor growing kids! Back is always best! Do your best to protect them! We are now dealing with body image issues, soreness, nightmares, depression, sensitivity to loud noises, just not feeling like ourselves. This is heartbreaking to see the emotional toll it is taking on our babies!” – via Sarah Sutton

  • Mirena IUD Ruined My Woman Parts

I didn’t know I was pregnant I just so happened took a pregnancy test yesterday due to me cramping and bleeding for the past 4 days and something was just telling me to buy one and make sure well I did and sure enough it came out positive.

I went back to Leconte hospital around 7:30 last night and they did my blood work and then got called back to a room to do an ultra sound the Dr told me he couldn’t even see the Mirena IUD on the ultra sound period or any kind of sign of pregnancy in the uterus.

I went back to my room and waited for my ultra sounds to come back from the lab my Dr then walked in 30 minutes later saying he was admitting me into the hospital and was planning on having surgery this morning due to having a ectopic/tubal pregnancy, then about 10 minutes later he came back in felt around on my stomach said they were taking me back to do emergency surgery TONIGHT because he said the baby had punctured my right uterus fallopian tube from where the baby was developing and if I had waited any longer it would have killed me and the baby.

So all this, to loosing my baby and almost losing my OWN life and having a major surgery to save me is all from the Mirena IUD which if you don’t know exactly what it is it’s a little T-Shape birth control that is SUPPOSED to be 99.9% affective to prevent pregnancy has ruined my women parts and has caused my ovaries life damages.

This is a warning to you ladies DO NOT GET THIS BIRTH CONTROL!!! But On the bright side im just blessed Leconte Drs caught this when they did and I also want to thank all the nurses/doctors who were in charge of me for being awesome and patient with me the way y’all were. Thank you and God Bless to you all.

  • IUD Contraception Nearly Killed Me Woman Beware

Sometimes things happens in your life and you don’t know why. You question yourself why me or what did I do to deserve this? But what you should be asking is what can I learn from it.

I’m finally coming out to tell my story because I feel like I can help someone. I’m not here for people opinions but to simply tell my story.

Six weeks after I had my daughter I was offered by the doctors a form of birth control called the IUD. I accepted because I was told that it was safe and it was he best type. It had never gave me any problems up until November of 2017. I had it for 3 years so far. I was told that it is good for 5 years.

I went to my yearly check up in October and I was asked about birth control and I told that I had an IUD. They checked and told me that they couldn’t find an IUD and that it may have fallen out but I knew for a fact that wasnt the case.

They sent me to get two types of ultrasounds the same day and I was told once again that they didn’t see an IUD.

One day in the beginning of November I was at work I had a sharp pain and the bottom right of my stomach and the first thing that popped in my head was is this that IUD? But I tried to brush it off but the pain was getting worse. I left work 3 hours early to go to the hospital.

I went to the hospital and I told them what was going on and what the doctors was telling me so they immediately sent me to get an X-ray done. The doctor came in the with a weird look on her face and said the IUD is definitely in there but it’s pushed up in your stomach so you will have to get surgery.

She told me to call my OBGYN to schedule a date. I went and talked to my OBGYN, told him everything that was going on and even showed him the X-ray picture that they allowed me to take. So he also said I have to get surgery.

I asked him how would they would get it out and he told me they would cut me right under my belly button and use a scope. On December 13th I went in to get the procedure done. Instead of 1 , I was cut 3 times. One under my belly button and one on each of my side. They were able to get it out but it was broken into pieces. I was told that it had moved up to my liver.

When I left the hospital I was bleeding but my mom was told that it was normal. Over night I begin to bleed heavier and the pain got worse. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and once I got to the hospital my mom told the doctors everything that was going on.

They rushed me to x-rays done and then rushed me to surgery. I was bleeding internally. After the surgery my mom was told that when they open me up, my ovaries was black and that they had to give me a hysterectomy.

After the surgery I went into septic shock causing me to be in ICU for a few weeks. I died on that surgery table. While in ICU my organ began to fail. I was on a breathing machine, I was on dialysis cause my kidneys wasnt working right.

Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. My parents were told that I was the worst patient on the floor and that they didn’t think I was going to make it. But with faith and God the prayers that everyone sent out, I am here today. Next week I have to get myself prepare again for a second surgery to get my toes amputated but I swear I came so far and im not letting anything stop me.

  • Do Not Give Your Toddler Milk Or Juice At Night

A lady known as Ray Ray has taken to Facebook to warn other parents about allowing their toddlers to have milk and juice during the night.

Ray Ray said “Believe me when I say this the most hurtful feeling I ever felt for my child , my son is only  2 & had to get his front 4 teeth removed because he had a lot of tooth decay from milk and juices that he would drink through the middle of the night at least 4 times of filling up his cup throughout the night too soothe him because he would cry for it.

My baby boys teeth became brittle & I also wasn’t brushing his teeth regularly every day like I should have waving it off cause (their baby teeth) & he would fight & cry, to the point one broke and one crack( due to him falling chasing after his ball) I just suggest that if you have a young child just don’t let them drink an water throughout the night while they’re asleep because it sits in their month and  can cause seriously teeth damage and possibly gum damage also !

I am feelings so hurt I’m emotional about it because it’s my fault why my baby had to experience this but big lesson here I’ll never let this happen again to any of my children 😭😭 if I knew better I promise I would’ve done better #lessonlearned2.

Hundreds of people commented on Ray Ray’s post saying that they had problems with their toddlers teeth in the past through giving milk and juice in the night, if you can avoid giving these over night then please do so or replace with water, brush toddlers teeth regularly, we would advice hen they are a small baby to get them used to it (obviously without toothpaste).

  • Trampoline Parks Don’t Stop People Jumping When Injured

One woman wants to warn others about trampoline parks

Cortney Moreno said “As hard as it is to relive the past 3 months, we want to make other parents aware of the danger associated with indoor trampoline parks.

“Dominic went on his birthday (March 17th) what was supposed to be an innocent night, turned into a nightmare. Dominic was doubled bounced by a much older/bigger teenager. The employee of the trampoline park told our son to stand up (as if he could walk off) knowing another kid was still jumping in his square. As he was trying to stand, that kid bounced next to him instantly making him collapse. He could no longer stand up after that.

“See-they do not make other kids stop jumping if someone is injured. The end result Dominic fell and broke his tibia, both growth plates and his knee muscle had completely flipped over. This all happened within 30 minutes of being there. Innocently jumping to celebrate his birthday.

Trampoline Parks Don't Stop People Jumping When Injured
Trampoline Parks Don’t Stop People Jumping When Injured

“Come to find out, trampolines parks are a leading injury to children. We had no clue!

“While undergoing 3 different surgeries (one of which was over 12+hours). Dominic had to have his knee muscle flipped back into place-a clamp installed to hold it together, external fixators installed on the side of his leg to stretch his growth plates and a metal rod to hold it all together. They installed a pain catheter for 3 days as well. All the while, having a broken tibia. We had to stay in the hospital for 5 days because the pain was so unbearable.

“Our lives have been turned upside down since Dominic’s accident 3 months ago. Every day was a struggle for this sweet boy as he adjusted to life in a hospital bed in our living room. He was restricted to the bed, no movement. He became used to urinating in a cup for almost 2 months, sponge baths by his mother every other day, the most movement his could endure was when someone would hold his leg (not over 6 inches) so we could change his sheets. He had to finish 3rd grade in his hospital bed with his teacher coming after school everyday to tutor him. The countless nights of crying in pain and feeling helpless.

“The Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics study showed most trampoline-related fractures occurred in kids (92.7 percent occurred in people ages 16 and younger). We were shocked to see this statistic-especially because you find the indoor trampoline parks are advertised everywhere for “fun for kids”.

“Dominic is learning to walk again and is in physical therapy 4 days a week. He has a long road ahead-both mentally and physically to get back to where he was before the night of his birthday at the indoor trampoline park. He will return every 6 months for X-rays of his growth plates until he’s an adult. To ensure they are growing properly. The basic things we take for granted like walking normal, running, bending or riding a bike are things our 9-year-old dreams of doing one day.

“We share this with you today to spread awareness that these indoor trampoline parks are not safe. We hope by sharing Dominic’s story it will prevent a child and their family from experiencing the trauma and heartbreak associated with trampoline injuries in young children.”

  • Cosmetic Procedures It Isn’t Worth It

Sally Roberts wants other woman to think twice about having cosmetic procedures.

Roberts said “On Saturday I had 1ml lip filler… (injected by a qualified nurse in a reputable salon), they were fine initially and I was happy with the result, but by the following morning they had swelled to the point I couldn’t eat, drink or talk properly and was in absolute agony, they continued to swell and GP advised me to go straight to A&E as I was at risk of going into anaphylactic shock.

It is now thought I’ve had a severe allergic reaction to the filler and acquired a nasty infection. After being in excruciating pain for days with rock hard, cracked, peeling, leaking lips, I am now on the mend thank god… I’m on steroids, antibiotics, anti inflammatories, anti histamines and strong pain relief.

Cosmetic Procedures It Isn't Worth It
Cosmetic Procedures It Isn’t Worth It

If I hadn’t have improved by today I was going to have to stay in hospital and go on a drip, but luckily the meds have started working and my lips have gone down in size but still nowhere near ‘normal looking’.

This isn’t a post slating cosmetic surgery btw as I love Botox and have never had any reactions with that, and I’ve always really wanted my lips done… but this has been a massive eye opener for me, I looked like something out of a horror film… there are more photos but not ones I’d share on here as I look like a crack head, my whole face was disfigured due to the swelling. So…

Cosmetic Procedures It Isn't Worth It
Cosmetic Procedures It Isn’t Worth It

If you’re thinking about lip fillers, be prepared for the possibility of a BAD reaction. The last few days have been absolutely horrific, the infection has gone into my blood and made me really poorly. You never think things like this will happen to you. NEVER AGAIN.
