  • Society To Working Mums

    Society to working moms

-Go back to work 6-8 weeks after having the baby. The baby that you spent 9-10 months growing inside of your body. Go back to work before you have finished healing or have had time to bond with your baby. Keep your mind on work, and not your tiny helpless baby that is being watched and cared for by someone other than you. Make sure to break the glass ceiling and excel at your job- you can do anything a man can do! It is your job to show society this! Show the world that women can do it all. Rise to the top of your career.

-Also breastfeed for at least a year. So take 2-3 pumping breaks a day at work, but don’t let it throw you off your game or let you lose your focus.

-Also, lose that baby weight and get back in shape, as quickly and as gracefully as possible. Make sure to get 8 hours of sleep a night so you can work out, work, and care for your family. But also get up at 5 am to workout, unless you want to do it after your kids go to bed when you also need to clean the house and get life ready for the next day and you know, sleep.

-Maintain a clean, pinterest worthy house. Take the Christmas lights down. Recycle. Be Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the birthday planner, the poop doula (seriously when will this end), the finder of lost things, the moderator of fights. Be fun. Be firm. Read books. Have dance parties.

-Maintain the schedule for the entire family. Birthday parties coming up? Make sure to have presents! Ensure the kids are learning to swim, play an instrument, read, ride a bike, be a good human being, eat vegetables, wear sunscreen, drink enough water, say please and thank you. Don’t forget they need to dress as their favorite book character on Monday, and wear something yellow on Thursday. Oh it’s totally your call but most parents come in on their birthday and read to the entire class. In case nobody told you, if you have more than one kid you will need to buy new shoes approximately every other day. See also: winter coats, shorts, pants that aren’t 4 inches too short. There will never be matching socks or gloves for any member of the family, ever again.

-Remember the dog you got before you had kids? Shes getting old now and needs expensive surgery. She also need walking, a new bed, and she smells pretty bad.

-Hey! Kids need lots of doctor appointments. Monthly as babies. Every time they are sick. Specialist appointments, especially if any of them have extra needs. At least two school conferences a year. IEP meetings, if applicable. Parents night. Back to school night. Get to know your school night (what IS this). Most parents are volunteering at least once during the year, would you like to come make a craft with the kids? It will only be an hour or two of your time.

-Sorry, you are now out of vacation time because you used it all for time taking your kids to appointments or when your childcare is unavailable. You should go on vacations though. It’s good to relax and unwind from work. Makes you a better employee.

-Don’t forget the kids need healthy meals (and so do you! you are trying to lose that last 20 lbs before swim season right). That requires meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal prep on the weekend. But also hang out with your kids on the weekend since during the week you only get to hang out with them when they are exhausted and angry that you made the wrong kind of spaghetti for dinner.

-Date your spouse! It’s important to keep your relationship alive and fresh. Try to go out 1-2 times a month. Good, kid free time. Hire a babysitter, they charge 22+ dollars an hour in your area so make sure to take out an extra mortgage and/or work another job to be able to afford this.

-Oh hey you should have a hobby too. It’s important to have “you time”. Also be well read, keep up with the latest pop culture and tv shows, and keep an eye on politics and be able to discuss at least one of the above on the small chance you are out in public and encounter another adult necessitating small talk.

-Make sure to have friends. Social time is SO important. Surely there is an hour or two left in the week after all of the working, appointments, exercising, cooking, scheduling, cleaning, imparting lifelong morals and learning on the kids, the usual. Maybe go out after the kids are down for a glass of wine and a bite to eat. Make it a healthy bite though. And you may regret that wine at your 530 am spin class.

-Self care though. SO important. See also: getting in shape. See the general doctor, the dentist (TWICE), the lady doctor. Prob need to get your eyes checked. Full body skin checks 2+ times a year (just me? okay well). Mental health too. Postpartum anxiety? But you look fine and your kids are so cute. Everyone should have a therapist. Good luck finding one that takes your insurance and has hours outside of your normal working time (out of vacation time, remember?). That leaves evening time when you want to hang out with your kids. But it’s important, so make time for it.null

-Don’t wear yoga pants and a mom bun or society is going to mock you in numerous witty blog posts. Never mind that nothing fits. Going to have to get up even earlier so you have time to style your hair, wing your eye liner and search for a pair of pants that fits your new post baby (or multiple b

  • Before Daddy Left For Work

Before Daddy left for work this morning, Daddy did not have to give Mummy a list of things the children needed. He did not have to ask Mummy to watch the children for a few hours. He didn’t have to give Mummy a single prompt on how to look after her own children, because Mummy knew.

    1. At 3:25pm Daddy arrived home from work. He had ever so kindly (although begrudgingly) helped Mummy out by fetching their eldest child from school on his way home.
    2. As Daddy and the eldest child walked through the door, Mummy whom was stood at the sink washing the dishes greeted them with a lovely and jolly ‘hello! Are you both ok?’
    3. Mummy had lovingly prepared and cooked the family dinner. Because Mummy knew that everyone needed feeding. Mummy did not need asking if she was planning on feeding the children, Mummy just knew.
    4. During the day whilst Daddy had been busy being very important at work Mummy had spent what felt like twenty-thousand hours cleaning, washing clothes, hoovering the carpets and tidying away toys. Then redoing it every time her feral youngest child decided to fuck it all right up again.
    5. When Daddy arrived home he did not need to ask Mummy if they had been victims of a reverse burglary.
    6. When Daddy arrived home from work Mummy was not sprawled out on the carpet watching Ben and holly’s little kingdom whilst chaos erupted around her.
    7. At 5pm when Mummy had to pop out to work for a couple of hours, Mummy asked Daddy if he would mind watching the children for a couple of hours. Mummy asked Daddy if he could possibly feed them some supper before bed, maybe even bath them if he could manage it by himself.
    8. When Mummy walked in from work at 7pm…a mere 2 hours later, the house looked as if someone had indeed reverse burgled the house. It looked as if a massive sodding Smyth’s toys lorry had arrived, the driver had tipped the whole contents of the bastarding lorry onto the living room floor and then sprinkled a box of coco pops on top of the massive pile of plastic for an extra special treat.
    9. When Mummy walked in from work at 7pm…a mere two hours after she had left, she witnessed Daddy, sprawled out on the floor amongst the massive pile of plastic and coco pops, calmly viewing Ben and Holly’s little kingdom whilst the smallest child sat emptying every pan out of the cupboard in the kitchen.
    10. When Mummy nipped upstairs for a quick wee, she quickly realised Daddy the amazing had actually managed to bath of the children. Mummy felt ever-so-grateful as she followed a trail of 56 wet towels lay on the floor leading towards a bath full of freezing cold water and 234 toys floating within it that needed to be fished out. She felt even more grateful once she realised Daddy had also learnt to multitask! Shaving at the same time as bathing the kids was a real talent. Mummy was so pleased she had scrubbed the sink earlier in the day for it now to be infested with facial hair.
    11. When Mummy asked Daddy if the children had eaten their supper, Daddy informed Mummy that neither of the children fancied milk with their coco pops, that they requested them dry. Hence why the living room now had a twatting dusting of them. Daddy informed Mummy he had already picked a few up.
    12. When Mummy asked Daddy why the eldest child was wearing pyjamas that were approximately 3 sizes too small, Daddy informed Mummy that he was not sure where all of her pyjamas were kept. Daddy snapped at Mummy and told her that nothing was ever good enough for her.
    13. When Mummy noticed the sink was yet again full of pots, even though the children had only been fed dry cereals straight from the box, Mummy thought she might actually just spontaneously combust.
    14. When Mummy called Daddy a useless scruffy Cockwomble as she began to rage clean for the eighty-eighth time that day, Daddy looked surprised. After all…Daddy had done everything Mummy had asked him to.

“What is wrong with you? Why are you in a bad mood?” Asked the oblivious Cockwomble.

“It’s a twatting mystery when I should be feeling so grateful.” Replied Mummy.

    Then Mummy drank wine.
Mummy drank Lots and lots of lovely wine as she wondered what fresh hell would await after her considerably longer than 2 hour shift the next day.
    The end.
    🤣🤣

  • All My Wife Has To Do Is Look After The Baby

I came home yesterday evening after working 12 hours. I went into the bathroom to get cleaned up and ready for dinner. I noticed my daughters bassinet in the bathroom…

I asked my wife if she had put her in there, and how she did in it. She said that she put her in it as she had showered during the day. We continued to talk about how good she had been and how much she’s growing up and so forth…

This morning I came home from the gym, turned the shower on, to get cleaned up for work. I turned to the door, and saw where my wife wiped away the steam from the glass, so that she could see our baby girl in the bassinet….

I literally just sat there and stared at the glass and smiled. I could see it, I imagined it, it was like I was there in the room with them. I could see Heather just looking through the glass and making faces at Lottie as she smiled and played in her bassinet! I just melted!!!

It’s so crazy to me, how the smallest things can make me so appreciative of my wife. It’s the little sacrifices my wife makes for this family, that would normally go unnoticed. From caring for our daughter 24/7, to caring for me, cooking, cleaning, taking care of the animals, and taking care of herself (yeah right, there’s no time for that)…

It just makes me stop and think…. I work hard… I work long 10-12 hours days… I get tired… I have stressful days… that’s my right, as the working member in the house hold right… to be catered to hand and foot when I get off?!?

All she does is have to take care of a baby….

So it should be that she cooks, and keeps the house clean, dishes washed, laundry clean and put up, animals tended to…. and I’m a man, have I mentioned my needs yet ?!?

I mean seriously, she’s at home all day after all!

Mannnnn…. I can’t tell you how much this fogged up glass means to me !

The fact that my wife can’t even shower without caring for someone else…. tending to someone else’s needs…. get a second to herself to relax

My wife doesn’t get to clock out, my wife doesn’t get the satisfaction of seeing a check deposited in the bank in return of her hard work, my wife doesn’t get to eat lunch with co workers, my wife doesn’t get to just walk outside and just take a deep breath….

This may be just a fogged up piece of glass to some, but to me it means so much more. It’s the little things like this that don’t go un noticed…. it’s the little things like this that constantly remind me how badass she is…. it’s the little things like this that make me fall in love with her all over again, Heather Williams!

Thank you for being the amazing woman you are… it doesn’t go unnoticed!

    👑 I love you My Queen 👑

  • The Many Great Uses For Peroxide

Got this from a friend.. Who knew?

The many uses of Peroxide 🤔

My friend has a friend who’s dad is a doctor. She was over recently and smelled the bleach, I was using to clean my toilet and counter tops.

This is what I learned that day:

    She says,

‘I would like to tell you all of the benefits of that plain little ole bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drugstore. What does bleach cost?

Most doctors don’t tell you about peroxide.

Have you ever smelled bleach in a doctor’s office? NO!!! Why? Because it smells, and it is not healthy!

Ask the nurses who work in the doctor’s offices, and ask them if they use bleach at home. They are wiser and know better!

Did you also know bleach was invented in the late ’40s? It’s chlorine, folks! And it was used to kill our troops.

Peroxide was invented during WWI.. It was used to save and help cleanse the needs of our troops and hospitals.

    Please think about this:

    1. Take one capful of hydrogen peroxide (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I am doing it when I bathe.) No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.

    2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.

    3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.

    4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

    5. If you have fungus on your feet spray a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

    6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to 10 minutes several times a day. Her husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine but was healed by soaking in peroxide.

    7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.

    8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold or plugged sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.

    9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for 10 minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

    10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide-burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually, so it’s not a drastic change.

    11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help get rid of boils, fungus, or other skin infections.

    12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

    13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors. There is no smearing, which is why I love it so much for this.

    14. Another place it’s great is in the bathroom, if someone has been careless, has peed on the floor around the toilet, and it’s begun to smell of urine. Just put some peroxide in a spray bottle spray. In the blink of an eye all the smell will be gone and the bacteria eliminated! (I wish I’d known this years ago)

I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I’m glad there’s a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner!

This information really woke me up. I hope you gain something from it, too. 😁

Pass it on! Clorox v/s peroxide VERY interesting and inexpensive. 💥

  • Motherhood Is Isolating

    MOTHERHOOD IS…

    Motherhood is isolating.

Hours spent in the dark bouncing or breastfeeding a baby alone. Day upon day stuck in the house with sick kids in winter.

    Motherhood is monotonous.

Change them, feed them, wash them, clean up after them. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Laundry, well, that alone is insurmountable.

    Motherhood is invisibility.

When everyone else’s needs scream louder than yours. It’s remembering to eat breakfast despite catering for the individual preferences of everyone else. It’s eating the leftover cut outs from your kids star shaped sandwich or the rejected items from the dinner plate. It’s cleaning the lounge every night because otherwise it will do your head in, despite everyone else taking little notice. It’s changing the roll on the toilet paper holder instead of leaving it on the floor. It’s making sure everyone has what they need for the next day to make the morning run smoother despite no one else giving it a second thought.

    Motherhood is sacrifice.

It’s having an audience to pee, it’s juggling times to have a shower. It’s fitting what you can into the time the baby naps. It’s getting home from work and barely having a moment to breathe before you switch from one ‘hat’ to the other. It’s when we struggle to fulfil our cups of sacrifice with self care, which is like a bandaid for the gaping wound that is a lack of hands on societal support and the missing close knit community or tribe like times of old.

    Motherhood is comparison.

Its insta lunchboxes and designer labels. It’s who subscribes to what label of parenting and pro versus anti, this versus that. It’s a concern of not being enough or being reminded of “what happened in my day” or “I turned out ok despite….”. It’s fear and threats of spoiling babes or creating rods for backs. It’s graphs or averages, measuring against some status quo. It’s fighting the tide to try and listen to your own inner instincts and your babes individual preferences and needs.

    Motherhood is triage.

Knowing who to tend to first, which order to address the whinging. It’s knowing when encouragement and support are needed and when you need to jump in and help out.

    Motherhood is a balancing act.

It’s remembering to be present in the moment with our kids and knowing which are times you can snatch to achieve a critical task. It’s trying to grab seconds of self and still attempting to be selfless in our intentions. It’s balancing trying to achieve things and being interrupted continuously to the point where it is impossible to finish anything.

    Motherhood is a head fuck.

When you feel like you have no more to spare, you still have to. When you feel so touched out and like you actually might scream if someone doesn’t get off your boob immediately, but you still do it. When you don’t know if you’re doing anything at all right but the fact you are actually questioning that, in and of itself actually means you’re a good mum, even if you don’t believe it.

Motherhood is appreciating the small things.

The fact you managed to survive another day. You dealt with a million tantrums or a kid questioning that keeps pushing every boundary. You managed to keep a fearless toddler alive despite their best efforts otherwise (stop fucking jumping off the bookcase kid! :/ ). You handled what seemed insurmountable when you got out of bed, already tired, and did what you needed to get to the next bedtime.

    Motherhood is wonderful.

Little feet and hands. Tiny people with a little bits of you in them. Cuddles and kisses. Peacefully sleeping faces. “I love you”s and “Mama you’re the best”s. It’s pride and joy and oh so much love.

    ___________

What is motherhood for you at the moment? 😍

  • This Cleaning Trend Is Getting Ridiculous

You all want immaculate homes. You want to cover your house in bleach & you want the perfect grey and white show home. I get it, I really do. But this ‘trend’ has become ridiculous. People aren’t sitting with their children at dinner time because they need to wash the pots and pans straight away. Children aren’t playing with play dough because god forbid the cleaning up. The toys are all hidden away in their bedrooms incase you have a visitor. Bed time stories are non existent because the floor won’t mop itself.

    Slow down mummas.

Soon enough your children will all be grown up, they’ll fly the nest and you’ll be sat alone in your perfectly tidy home wishing for one more day of chaos.

It’s not just your home, it’s theirs too. I won’t turn my home into an instagram worthy fragile building. I’ll keep tripping over lego, I’ll laugh whenever the children have more chocolate biscuit around their mouths than in it. I will put the tub of ‘pink stuff’ down and I’ll spend my last £2 buying them an ice cream on the beach. You can moan about the state of my home. You can move that pile of toys of the sofa before you take a seat. But I’d rather spend time with my child than make my house immaculate to please you. Love us for who we are 💜

Your house is a building, that’s all it is. Your home is the heart beats that fill the walls. It’s the laughter as your children hose down their sandy toes. It’s the squeals of excitement as you do the funny voices in the bedtime story.

Sing to them Mummas. Sing until your throat is sore. Read that story over and over until the pages turn crisp. Pick them up, even if it is the 10th time today, one day they won’t ask anymore.

Your child’s fondest memories won’t be watching you on your hands and knees scrubbing the floor. You have forever to tidy up. Your children will never be as young as they are today.

If you’re one of the lucky ones who will wake up tomorrow morning, appreciate it. If you woke up tomorrow and all the people you love were gone, your house would look the same, your home would never feel the same again ✨

  • Here’s Why You Should Bin Your Mascara

😳 Throughout my years of working my little makeup biz, I’ve had so many women admit to me that they don’t remove their makeup, replace their mascara regularly, or wash their face daily. My reaction is always like 😱 and here’s why…

🥺 Hello, my name is demodex folliculorum and I live in the pores of the skin of your face – that’s why it’s important to wash your face and remove makeup!!

🕷The only way you can see me is with a microscope. I measure between 0.3 and 0.4mm and like spiders, I have 8 legs.

I like living in hair follicles that you have in your nose, cheek, and eyelashes. These are places where there’s more fat to feed me.

I feed on your secretions and your dead skin. I can put up to 25 eggs in every hair follicle.

My digestive system is not able to eliminate my waste, so I accumulation them in my body until I explode and die. My remains cause hypersensitivity reactions.

According to some studies, in some people, I can cause infections on eyelids and rosacea.

I am a mite that is present in almost every adult on this planet.

    • Are you gonna remove your makeup tonight? • Are you going to invest in a good skin care regime?

    • Or are you going to be grossed out and ignore it and allow these little guys to reproduce on your face? 😬

Speak to me for your perfect cleanser!

PS…If your mascara if over 3 months old, you might wanna throw it out and get a new one too! Often people brag to me that they don’t wear mascara much so theirs lasts a year. Nope! Bacteria begins to grow in your tube after the first time you use it. 90 days is the max you should go 😉

  • I’m Not The Mum That Watches My Kids

I’m not the Mum that watches my kids 24/7, I often watch from a distance with my feet up and a glass of wine in my hand, they don’t need me with them every second of the day.

I’m the mom that yells up the stairs ” you better pack it in before I lose my shit and whack you sideways”. ( before you perfect parents jump on me it is perfectly acceptable in my eyes to threaten to physically harm them, I have never actually raised a hand to them).

I’m also the Mum that waits for the real cry before going across the house to see what’s up ( I can tell when it is a whiney fake attention seeking cry to the shit I’m bleeding type of cry) . I’ll come for you being hurt but I don’t wanna come because your brother has the plastic cup you want. Figure that shit out on your own.

I’m the mum who won’t rush across the park to scoop you up when you have had a little tumble, unless there is blood, a bone sticking out of your body or a serious injury, my kids are tough they ain’t no snowflake, they cry when they are hurt not when they have tripped.

Stop raising incapable kids because they turn into incapable adults, stop following them everywhere, put the anti bacteria gel away, give them space to grow and learn, christ when we were growing up our mum would spit on our wounds and use her sleeve to wipe away the blood, our mums gave us the freedom to grow and learn.
