  • I Will Not Be Working To Get My Body Back

“No, no, you have it wrong, I will not be working to get my body back.

    She was never lost.

She was here, giving every moment and detail to this sweet baby.

She was pushed and exhausted, stretched and stripped to make space for a new life.

    Please stand back and aside.

For her sacrifice she will not be scrutinized.

She will be loved, and thanked and bowed down to.

She will be allowed her time to heal and be settled into.

This body’s work will not be forgotten, hidden or erased.

And if you feel it should, you understand nothing about the gift she has given.

No, no Body don’t listen. Because I see you. I thank you deeply. You did so good.”

  • Our bodies surrender to themselves to allow another human into this realm

I catch myself giggling when I hear boys and men talk about “thick girls” or even body types in general.

The rhetoric around it is usually 100% the same.

Big thighs , big butt and big boobs with a small flat tummy.

I have news for the world. . .

These tummy’s ain’t meant to stay flat , tight and without stay without flaw.

Right underneath is the womb, an organ that grows ONE THOUSAND times it natural size to accommodate life.

    WE DO THAT.

Some of us over and over and over again, some of us back to back to back.

Our bodies surrender to themselves to allow another human into this realm.

I remember the day I gave birth to my first who was 2 ounces short of 10lbs. Her father said “Will her belly stay like that forever?”

I remember my sister holding me as I cried after he said this. My body has already changed so much so to look down and see my body again, 100 times different than it was just yesterday, was hard.

It made me question my femininity.

    How sick, right?

Right after birth I was soOo concerned with how my body wasn’t “womanly” enough anymore.

    How fucking insane!

I just BECAME a NEW woman, an even more powerful one.

I surround myself with women who love their bodies , women who hate them and women trying to find a way ….and I promise you one of thee single most common “I wish “ is about the TUMMY.

“I wish I were skinner , I wish my tummy was flat, I wish this cesarean scar was gone, I wish my belly didn’t hang ….”

Imagine an elephant or a tiger worrying about what their tummy looked like after giving birth.

Imagine how much that would take away from their journey and how it could eventually put them and their baby in a vulnerable position.

    ITS SO NON ESSENTIAL.

SO WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THEM TO WIN?

We must stay awake and shake societies bullshit about youth being the prize.

    Youth is FOREVER FLEETING.

Wait until you become and elder and have the ability to giggle at such small minded things such as , how thick a woman is or “she ain’t thick if this” or “she ain’t thick if that.”

Do y’all even understand the stories these bodies carry?

Some mothers have birthed children who were born sleeping , some have birthed children who left this realm early… it’s not just a belly. It’s life, it’s a LIFETIME, it’s death, it’s happiness , it’s grief.

To reduce the love gathered inside of me that is proudly displayed on my tummy to anything other than a majestic goddess-hood is criminal.

Ten lives grew inside of me.

How ethereal that the proof is right here on my skin.

I don’t care bout your abs.

I don’t care about your cocoa butter.

I don’t care about your lipo.

I don’t care about your BBL.

I don’t care about your tummy tucks.

I don’t care about your sick marketing ploys that day after day try to infiltrate this blissful motherhood I’ve been allowed to experience.

I DONT FUCKING CARE ABOUT A FLAT STOMACH ANY GOD DAMN MORE. DO YOU HEAR ME?

I won’t waste another day, dollar, outfit, opportunity because of my skin. I am AMAZING. My body is INCREDIBLE.

    No more of society’s lies.

    It’s a tummy.

    It’s MY tummy.

    It’s mushy.

    It hangs.

It is FULL of stretch marks.

It can probably hide a box of crayons in it, if I tried.

I won’t be reduced to a term like “thick” and I won’t be exiled because I don’t have the flat tummy society screams at women to have.

Fuck your flat tummy, I like my refurbished water bed.

  • How To Talk To Your Daughter About Her Body

HOW TO TALK TO YOUR DAUGHTER ABOUT HER BODY, A MUST READ!!!

Step one: Don’t talk to your daughter about her body, except to teach her how it works.

Don’t say anything if she’s lost weight.

Don’t say anything if she’s gained weight.

If you think your daughter’s body looks amazing, don’t say that. Here are some things you can say instead:

“You look so healthy!” is a great one.

Or how about, “You’re looking so strong.”

“I can see how happy you are — you’re glowing.”

Better yet, compliment her on something that has nothing to do with her body.

Don’t comment on other women’s bodies either. Nope. Not a single comment, not a nice one or a mean one.

Teach her about kindness towards others, but also kindness towards yourself.

Don’t you dare talk about how much you hate your body in front of your daughter, or talk about your new diet. In fact, don’t go on a diet in front of your daughter. Buy healthy food. Cook healthy meals. But don’t say, “I’m not eating carbs right now.” Your daughter should never think that carbs are evil, because shame over what you eat only leads to shame about yourself.

Encourage your daughter to run because it makes her feel less stressed. Encourage your daughter to climb mountains because there is nowhere better to explore your spirituality than the peak of the universe. Encourage your daughter to surf, or rock climb, or mountain bike because it scares her and that’s a good thing sometimes.

Help your daughter love soccer or rowing or hockey because sports make her a better leader and a more confident woman. Explain that no matter how old you get, you’ll never stop needing good teamwork. Never make her play a sport she isn’t absolutely in love with.

Prove to your daughter that women don’t need men to move their furniture.

Teach your daughter how to cook kale.

Teach your daughter how to bake chocolate cake made with six sticks of butter.

Pass on your own mum’s recipe for Christmas morning coffee cake. Pass on your love of being outside.

Maybe you and your daughter both have thick thighs or wide ribcages. It’s easy to hate these non-size zero body parts. Don’t. Tell your daughter that with her legs she can run a marathon if she wants to, and her ribcage is nothing but a carrying case for strong lungs. She can scream and she can sing and she can lift up the world, if she wants.

Remind your daughter that the best thing she can do with her body is to use it to mobilize her beautiful soul.
