  • Do Not Buy This Toy For Christmas

I have been advised by the Dr’s, nurses and surgeons that have been looking after my son to write this post to show the dangers of these toys …. This is my 3 year old son Reggie and on the 3rd of November we were taken to our local hospital after waking up to him being sick, grey in colour and struggling to keep him awake, I first thought it was a sickness bug and at the hospital they realised he was severely dehydrated which I couldn’t understand as he never stops drinking, they decided to do some further tests and sent him for an x-ray and that was when they realised the problem .. the x-ray showed that he had swallowed some little magnetic balls. My heart sank I knew exactly what they were his older brothers toy magnets.

Within an hour of the x-ray we were blue lighted to Nottingham hospital where on arrival my poor boy was rushed straight into theatre- throughout the ambulance ride I could see he was deteriorating. He was put to sleep at 7.15pm and for 3 or so hours they worked on him – it was the longest 3 hours of my life as I didn’t know what damage had been done. It turns out these little magnetic balls had done some serious damage, they were found in 4 separate areas, in places they had caused holes in his intestines and then reconnected which made his bowel have a bend in it and that’s where the main obstruction was they also found 6 balls lodged together which were completely stuck and they had to make a cut to get them out, the surgeons came to see me – I was so worried I had been pacing the floor going out my mind, they told me they had managed to save his bowel but he’s had lots of work done to it as there were lots of holes and these all needed repairing. He’s still not completely out of the woods as a leakage could happen. I don’t even no when he swallowed these magnets but the surgeon seems to think they have been there a while as they had started to corrode inside him and were poisoning reggie. He has high infection and is in intensive care on oxygen.

Do Not Buy This Toy For Christmas

Please please if your children have some of these little magnets show them the dangers of putting them in their mouths or better yet chuck them in the bin. My boy is lucky to still have his bowel, he had swallowed 19 balls he went from a little bit ill with what I thought was just a stomach bug to seriously ill in a short space of time and then major surgery.
These silly little things are dangerous and I wouldn’t want anybody else to feel the way I have the past days.

  • Covid Track And Trace SCAM

    😡😡😡 ………And so it begins!……
‘Good afternoon I’m calling from the NHS track and trace service. According to our system, you are likely to have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This means that you now need to self-isolate for 7 days and take a COVID-19 test.’
‘OK. Can you tell me who that person was?’
‘I’m not able to tell you that. That is confidential information.’
    ‘Right. Um… so ….’
‘But you do need to be tested within the next 72 hours. So can I just get the best mailing address so that we can send a kit to you?’
    ‘Ok (gives address)’
I just need to take a payment card so that we can finalize this and send the kit to you.’
‘Sorry – a payment card? I thought this was all free?’
‘No – I’m afraid not. There is a one-off fee of £50 for the kit and test results. Could you read off the long card number for me, please, when you’re ready.’
‘No – that’s not right. This is part of the NHS so there’s no charge.’
‘I’m afraid there is. Can you give me the card number please – this is very important, and there are penalties for not complying.’
    Puts the phone down.
This is how scammers work. And vulnerable people will fall for it.”
    Don’t fall for it…!

  • Yogurt Bites Can Be Deadly

We had a big scare at our house yesterday. After Aliyah’s nap I put her in her high chair for her snack. I gave her a yogurt bite and turned to clean some bottles in the sink.

Checked on her. The first yogurt bite was gone so I gave her another. Turned my back to put away some dishes and when I turned back around (maybe 30 seconds later) her face was beet red and she was gagging. I screamed for brian while taking her out of the high chair.

As he called 911 I turned her face down and began smacking her back. It seemed like forever before she began expelling the lodged yogurt bites. What came out was globs of sticky and gooey yogurt bites with a consistency and feel just like elmers glue. (See picture)

Thank goodness for the quick response of the Fire Dept, Ambulance and police. (Yes, all three showed up) They were all wonderful and reassured us that we did everything right, but I had a melt down in the ambulance. The EMT said that yogurt bites are not a safe snack as they don’t really melt away as advertised. Instead they turn to goo.

The problem is that small children are not capable of clearing their throat, so when the goo gets caught, they can’t swallow it or expel it on their own and when they try to breath the slime goes into the airway.
Please let this be a warning to all parents and grandparents. I’m not saying that yogurt bites should be taken off the market. I’m just putting this out there so everyone is aware. It will be a long time before we try them again. 😬
***Yogurt bites are recommended for crawlers. Aliyah is a crawler. I do believe that recommendation should be changed to walker. AND LET THIS BE A HARD LESSON….DO NOT TURN YOUR BACK ON A CHILD WHO IS EATING ANYTHING!! I’ve learned my lesson. 😥

  • The Effects Of County Line Drug Dealers

WARNING PICS AREN’T PLEASANT TO LOOK AT!!!!
I can’t say too much but I need to warn people of the effects of these county lines drug dealers and how they behave towards you if you don’t do as they say!!! Please please keep your children safe!

If they all of a sudden start getting new designer items or disappear for days and seem to have money, new trainers or even start to behave differently please talk to them without judging and let them know they can come to you with anything.

Please for the people who aren’t grossed out by the pics please show them to your kids and show these people don’t care! Right now 3 of these people are on remand looking at life sentences yet they’re only kids themselves 20, 18 and 17.

I feel for their mothers but no mother should have to be put through being told your child is in a bad way mikes away from home. I wasn’t going to put anything on here however after speaking to a friend last night she made me think that us mums need to know what’s going on out there on the streets. If you see anything dodgy trust your instincts!! I apologise for the pics again but I’m hoping they’ll save someone someday 🙏🙏🙏.

Hold your kids close, I nearly lost mine 😢 but thank god I didn’t! He’ll be scarred for life and his left hand will never get back to normal. For my friends in my local area these boys are hunting the villages for kids to sell for them! I know we can’t watch them 24/7 but try and make them understand what’s going on around them

  • Eating Disorder Awareness

    Trigger warning ❤️🖤💜

So, this week is eating disorder awareness week. Every year I do a post on my experience with an eating disorder as I think it is incredibly important we raise awareness and offer support to those who struggle.

For those who don’t know I had anorexia when I was 15 years old (around that age). I was in recovery for two years with a counsellor – at one point they wanted to admit me to hospital to be tube fed however my mum took the time out of her life to care for me 24/7 at home to feed me as well as monitor my health, see this is the other thing people don’t realise, it’s not just the appearance anorexia or any eating disorder effects it is the internal damage.

I was high risk of a heart attack, had constant tummy and chest pains as well as having to have weekly/fortnightly blood tests to check all was functioning normally. Despite all of this I still wanted to loose weight. Fast forward to now I still struggle with body image, I’m sure most people get sick of hearing me say I need to loose weight or I’m fat, but to me this is really.

I don’t see my body how others see it, in fact I’m the heaviest I’ve been in years and that is a huge daily battle. I am incredibly grateful to my body for growing and birthing two gorgeous boys however I still hate myself for many different reasons always wishing I looked different or could change things about me.

Although my story is of my battle with anorexia I have also come across people on my journey who have a different eating disorder, some you would have no idea struggles, this is the thing not all disorders are visible so please be kind and offer support because trust me living with a demon like this is awful and it never goes away, you just learn to accept it as the new you. My inbox is always open to anyone struggling, please seek the help you need ❤️

I do not have any photos of myself from ten years ago however the photo on the left is me after I split from my ex, I saw myself as fat and hated myself. I look back at that image and wish I was like that now instead of the weight I am but I know it’s not healthy in reality.

  • Breastfeeding Is NOT Normalized

Breastfeeding is NOT normalized and I’m going to tell you why.

2 days ago Ashley Graham posted this picture of her looking sexy as hell and got a whole lot of love on her post.
1 day prior she posted the picture of her feeding her baby and every other comment talks about how she needs to cover up and she shouldn’t expose herself like that and other crap comments.

Why is it okay to post sexy bikini pictures but it’s not okay to post a breastfeeding picture?

I hope the woman worried about her “8 year old son” seeing this is also keeping her son away from beaches and pools.

I hope the women preaching that Ashley needs a cover her baby while he eats in public are also covering themselves while they eat.

I hope those commenting on her picture how “inappropriate” it is are also telling Victoria’s Secret to take down their advertising pictures in malls.

Breastfeeding is not normalized. People still think it’s gross or weird or inappropriate. This is why we have to fight so hard to normalize it.

NEWS FLASH: Breastfeeding advocates aren’t shaming you for bottle/formula feeding your baby. We simply believe in every mother’s right to breastfeed if that’s what she chooses. We believe in the right to be properly educated on breastfeeding and to have proper access to resources when needed. We believe that women have a right to breastfeeding support.

And we believe that every woman has the right to publicly feed their baby any way they choose without being shamed for it!

A lot of ignorant people are completely missing the point of this post. The “likes” don’t matter. Yes, the breastfeeding picture has more “likes” but have you read the comments? They’re horrible. While the bikini picture has less “likes” there’s more support and uplifting comments on that post.

  • Myocarditis Awareness

    Myocarditis awareness post❤️

On the 1st of February I started realise that Amelia was becoming unwell she was being sick and was very tired I thought she had a sickness bug and I let her rest for the day. She had slept the whole of the Saturday I thought she would wake up Sunday a little bit more herself but she didn’t, she slept the whole of that day as well.

When she eventually woke up around 4pm I noticed that her eyes had swelled up I didn’t really know what to think and called my mum she advised me to call 111 as she didn’t know what it could be I called them around 5pm and they told me a doctor would ring back within an hour. A doctor eventually rang me back as she advised me to take her to a&e within the hour.

I got myself and Amelia ready and we headed straight up there, after seeing triage we was taken straight through to see a doctor and Amelia was given 2 sets of antihistamines as they was worried she had had an allergic reaction I told them that she hasn’t eaten anything or really drank for the past 2 days and I didn’t think it was that but they gave them anyway and we was left for a few hours before seeing another doctor. The doctor came round and we went through everything that had happened the last couple of days and she reassured us that Amelia would have just been suffering from a viral infection and she would get better within a few days but they wanted to keep her in over night in the acute short stay unit just to keep an eye on her swollen eyes and they wanted to check her urine.

So after sleeplessness night trying to catch a urine sample we finally managed to get a small one at 8am the next morning so that was more then 12 hours without a wee. They came round and told me everything seemed clear and I needed to encourage her to stay awake and get up and play, my lifeless little girl could barley keep her eyes open there was no way she was going to get up and play but throughout the day I did take her over to the small play area they had but she just wanted to sleep.

Hours had past and they still wasn’t sure what was going on with her so they decided to do some blood tests which came back normal apart from one level which was high and when a different doctor came round she explained that it was high because of her fluid intake I had told her that she hadn’t been drinking but she was dead set that she had come Ill because she was drinking to much and she wasn’t getting enough nutrients, she said she was going to prescribe some vitamins and print me off a information pack of the right foods to give and she could come home.

I wasn’t happy about this at all and a few hours later another doctor came round I asked her how long Amelia was going to be like this and she said she would start getting better within 7-10 days once the virus had run it’s course. Hours had passed and I had no clue what was going on with her and her eyes were becoming more swollen and she was still so sleepy and very hard to wake up I decided to go home and get a change of clothes and Amelia stayed with her dad.

When I got back her dad told me another doctor had been round and she wanted to take Amelia for a chest X-ray to see if they could see anything so around 11pm we was taken round to have it done then we was taken back to the short stay and was left there until 2.30am when the doctor who had suggest the X-ray came around the told me that Amelia’s heart was inflamed and she was dehydrated, they started her on a drip straight away and we was taken up the the high dependency unit.

Her heart rate was sky high and she was like a rag doll. First thing the next morning we was taken down to the cardiac ward where they did a echo to see Amelia heart properly and that is when we was told Amelia had myocarditis! Myocarditis is Myocarditis is a rare, sometimes fatal disease charac- terized by inflammation of the heart muscle.

The dis- ease can affect the muscle cells of the heart (myocytes), the heart valves and blood vessels, and the specialized electrical conduction pathways within the heart. When the muscle cells of the heart weaken from myocarditis, the heart chambers may enlarge. This form of heart disease is called dilated cardiomyopathy. Children with dilated cardiomyopathy may develop symptoms of heart failure, sometimes necessitating a heart transplant. Heart failure resulting from myocarditis-induced dilated cardiomyopathy is a significant cause of disability and death in children.

We had a few cardiac doctors come round to see us and they was absolutely amazing with diagnosing what was actually wrong with her, the swelling around Amelia eyes was her heart failing and the fluid was leaking out of her body causing her eyes, hands and feet to swell and they wasn’t 100% sure the fluid wouldn’t go to her brain so she was watched very closely for the next 24 hours.

She is now recovering and after 11 days in hospital and numerous bloods tests and echos we was allowed to come home with lots of medicine and hospital appointments. She’s on capapril which is supporting her heart function and hopefully in time her heart function will go back to normal. I would never liked to criticise the nhs as they did an incredible job making Amelia better but there is so much more a&e could of done by recognising this sooner as Amelia’s heart could of stopped had she been left any longer. People should be more aware of this condition as it could save lives we have been extremely lucky and I’m forever grateful! But please always go with your gut when it comes to your children because I believe parents always know best!❤️

  • Warning To Expectant Mums Not To Sleep On Their Backs

3 years ago I had a little boy who was far to precious for earth and he was born sleeping 💔 I was 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant, a couple of months after it happened I did a research interview with a nurse who was comparing live pregnancies to those who was stillborn to see if they could find anything to help prevent stillbirths in other woman, well I got the results in the post today and I’m delighted to say they have managed to find something 🙌🏻❤️

Basically woman who sleep on there backs in the last 12 weeks of pregnancy are twice as likely to have a stillbirth then women who sleep on there sides, they’ve made a massive campaign on it it’s called Tommy’s #sleeponside campaign similar to count the kicks, all very small things to do in your pregnancy but can make a massive Difference! My son didn’t pass away because of the way I slept or anything like that, he passed away because I have blood that’s prone to blood clots and the blood flow to my placenta wasn’t working, but regardless they’ve interviewed thousands of woman and they’ve obviously found something ❤️ so please please all my lovely pregnant friends listen to your Midwife’s and doctors there not doing it to nag or moan there doing it for you and your little bundle of joy ❤️ let’s bring the number of stillbirths down because it shouldn’t be as high as it is ❤️💙🤱🏼👶👣

  • Don’t Avoid Me Just Because I Wear A Muzzle

    Dear children and parents-

This is Jinxx. She is a one year old rescue agility dog who also wears a *muzzle* in order to enjoy a free and happy life.

This is because she has a sensitive stomach. Jinxx was starved as a puppy, resulting in a very delicate digestive system, and also no self control when it comes to food (I use the term ‘food’ very loosely!).

This is the only reason she wears a muzzle. She is not aggressive to people or dogs. She is not reactive. She is not a biter. She is a foodie, and I cannot afford hundreds of £s in vet bills every week for drugs and pumps. So she wears a muzzle.

The other day, whilst walking Jinxx and our three other dogs, children walking to school saw her (on a lead) and screamed at her, jumped and ran away from her. As you can imagine, this was quite distressing for our dogs. We also encountered parents yanking their children away from her. No wonder over a third of children in the UK are scared of dogs!

The silly thing that I noticed was that people are not scared of an unmuzzled dog, and yet will scream in the face of a muzzled dog. Surely, an unmuzzled dog will do more damage than a dog who has a barrier over their teeth?

Anyway, my request to parents is to please educate your children that a muzzled dog cannot hurt them, and that a muzzled dog is not always muzzled for aggression.

Of course there are irresponsible dog owners who will not muzzle their aggressive dogs, but I like to think for the most part that dog owners are responsible, compassionate people who care for not only their dogs but also the people and animals around them.

To end this post on a lighter note, thank you to all of the dog owners who we have encountered who allow Jinxx (and her brothers) to have a play with their own dogs 🐕 🐾

If you see us out and about, feel free to ask for a pet of one of our dogs. You can identify Jinxx from her big ears, and the gold coloured muzzle she wears. Thank you.

[TL;DR not all muzzled dogs are aggressive so teach your children not to scream in their faces.]

  • My Baby Died But I’m Still Feeding Babies

When I found out I was pregnant again, I wanted nothing more than to be successful at breastfeeding.

But when we found out of Samuel’s diagnosis, I knew that was not going to happen. Just another hope that was taken from me.

Before Samuel passed, I told myself I would pump my milk to donate. Afterall, Porter was given donated milk more than half of her first year of life!

My Baby Died But I'm Still Feeding Babies
My Baby Died But I’m Still Feeding Babies

    I couldn’t save Samuel’s life, but maybe I could save another baby’s life .

Pumping is not for the faint of heart. It’s hard. Mentally and physically. And it’s even harder when you don’t actually have a baby.

There were times I was angry because why did my milk have to come in when I had no baby to feed? Why was I waking up in the middle of the night for this? The other part of me felt it was the only thing connecting me to Samuel here on Earthside. I sure hope he’s proud of me!

I pumped for 63 days after his birth. I am not an over supplier by any means- but I did it.

And today, his due date, I donated my milk to the NICU milkbanks for the first and last time. Walking through the hallways of the hospital was just another step in healing. And I know, (because I felt him), that Samuel was there with me💜
