  • McDonald’s You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourselves

Well, my night took an unexpected turn! So I finished my night out, ended up in the dreaded McDonald’s queue. I couldn’t help but notice the lady in front me, all she asked for was a cup of hot water.

The member of staff told her no. I don’t know what was going through their mind but a lady, clearly homeless was asking for a basic human right; and for a multi billion pound company, for them to say no is disgusting!

My heart was shattered! So I spoke to her and told her to order what she wanted, expecting her to order everything. I was so shocked. She asked for a single cheese burger and that was it. We bought as much as we could carry so I knew she wasn’t going to be hungry.

I couldn’t just leave this lady go, she was so warming and so lovely. So I sat with her, on the cold hard floor, in the middle of winter and you know what I did? I cried my eyes out.

You know if people of Cardiff walked passed them and didn’t do anything because, financially, they weren’t in the position, I would understand. But people walked passed and laughed at them. I don’t care who you are, If this was you; and you’re reading this I hate you!

When I got to speak to them I was genuinely shocked at their story and how educated they were! So full of life and enthusiasm and they literally have nothing!

I invited polly and her mate back to my house and we all cooked enough food to feed them and their friends for the next few nights. We boxed them up and packed them in their bags.

Polly and her mate have had showers, brushed their teeth and they both said they have ever felt so appreciated in their life.

I’m no saint, but this small act of kindness cost me about £20. I know 90% of people reading this will earn about 10 times that a day.

It costs nothing to be kind, and I genuinely hope people share this to raise awareness of homelessness throughout the UK!

Me and polly have chatted on the phone and I’ve promised her that she will never go hungry or cold again! I’ve given her blankets, pillows and a back pack full of food.

If you see someone on the streets, don’t look down on them like they’re nothing. You don’t know what they’ve been though! spare a little thought!

I don’t cate if I look like shit cause I’m crying!

    Polly, you’ve changed me! ❤️❤️❤️

  • Go Mama Tell Him About Anger

“This was my hallway last Wednesday.

    Broken. Sharp. Treacherous.

    This was my hallway.

It was my son who did this.

Sometimes, often really, things break – irreparably. And it takes your breath away … straight away.

It took my breath away when my son stormed into the bathroom, frustrated, angry, fed-up for his very own, very significant to him, reasons. And when he chose to SLAM the bathroom door, causing the heavy mirror mounted to the front to slip out of the hardware holding it in place and crash onto the floor – a million, BROKEN pieces were left reflecting the afternoon light.

I was quiet. I surveyed the damage and took a deep breath. Put the dog outside so he wouldn’t cut his feet, put the cat in the basement for the same reason.

I walked into the backyard and felt the hot tears streaming down my face. It’s amazing how alone you can feel as a single parent in moments like these. I realized how scared and disappointed I felt. Did this really just happen? Yes. This was real.

And as I stood and considered whether or not this was an indication of his developing character, I heard his tears through the window above me, coming from inside the bathroom.

His soul hurt. This was not what he expected either. Hello, Anger – I don’t remember inviting you into my house.

    Scary.

    Terrified.

    Ashamed.

    Worried.

    Scared.

Deep breath, #MamaWarrior. Deep breath. That small, fragile soul needs you right now. He needs your very best. Your biggest compassion. Your most gentle and firm mama love and reassurance. More deep breaths. Go Mama.

Go. Go now. Go open the front door, tiptoe through the broken glass, hear him hearing you coming, watch the bathroom door crack open, see the face you love most in the world red with worry and wet with tears, his voice is suddenly so small: “Mama, I’ll never do it again, I am SO sorry.” More tears. More weeping. Such uncertainty on his sweet face.

Go Mama. Get him. Go now. Scoop him into your lap. Yup, you’re crying too. Damn this was big. Hold him tight. Watch how he curls into a ball in your arms so quickly. See how eager he is to be loved by you. To be reassured by you. See how small he still is. See how fragile that spirit is.

    I love you.

    You are safe.

    I am right here.

The worst part is over now.

    I’ve got you.

    I’m here.

    I love you.

Go Mama. Tell him about Anger. Tell him now. Anger is a really powerful feeling. You have a right to your Anger. Anger burns hot. It can purify. It can also destroy. He nods. He feels it. He’s met Anger now.

There’s a better way to show your big feelings.

We’ll work on it together …. tomorrow.

    I’m here to help you.

    You are safe.

You are never alone in your anger.

You are never alone in your fears.

    I’m here. We’re here together.

    Now we will clean together.

And we cleaned up the broken pieces. We swept and we vacuumed. It was quiet work. It was careful work. It was thoughtful work.

Sometimes things break. Sometimes we break them. It’s not the breaking that matters, the how or why. What matters is how we choose to respond to the broken-ness. Does it kill us? Does it throw us into a downward spiral of blame and punishment?

    OR

Does it help us remember how to love deepest? Does it push us towards compassion and over the hurdle of “rightness” and “wrongness” into LOVENESS?

    Yes. LOVENESS.

Go Mama. Go now. Get that baby of yours. Teach that. Show that. Live that. It’s called LOVENESS. Go. Now.”

  • Butlins Minehead You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourselves

Disabled toilet facilities at Butlins Minehead

My son is 14 and has cerebral palsy when making the booking with Butlins I asked was the park accessible and I was told yes definitely, but only one lift to the entertainment room and a lift that can only fit in one wheelchair or pram in, but the changing facilities were shocking. In this toilet only me and my son could just about get in the carer couldn’t fit in too so I had to lift him out myself and lay him on the floor

When challenging staff about their facilities they told me to take him back to the apartment to change him even then my apartment was 10/15 walk away from the main complex and the wheelchair could only fit into the hallway so again I would have to lift him out and lay him down and also with him having changed 9/10 times a day

All the money made by Butlins and these are there changing facilities for disabled people

It’s degrading and wasn’t nice especially when I went in once and the floor was all wet so I had to dry all the floor with paper towels

Change needs to happen and fast

  • Raped Whilst I Was Having a Epileptic Fit

In June 2016 I went travelling for three months in europe prior to beginning my year abroad studies in Spain. Whilst travelling in Hungary I met a guy who was also travelling and he was from the Netherlands, we became friends, he asked for more but I said no and that was fine.

After I moved to Spain and settled in he asked to come visit me for a few days because he would be travelling in Barcelona which was not far from where I was living. I said yes, I enjoyed his company so I saw no problem in it.

One morning I found that whilst I had slept he took money from my purse and the keys to my flat and left, when I called him he came back quickly with coffees and said he only took the money for coffee and took my keys so not to disturb me that I wouldn’t have to let him back in. Needless to say I was annoyed but I had classes to go to, so I got ready and we both went about our days separately.

After my classes finished I was still annoyed and didn’t want to meet him right away so instead I went for a run. When I returned to my flat after the run I was talking to my flat mates and I suffered an epileptic fit (this is normal for me).

My flat mates were aware of my condition and after the seizure stopped they helped me to bed. They waited with me whilst I was still fairly incoherent but whilst this was happening, the friend who was staying with me knocked on the flat door and my flat mates who were not aware of our earlier falling out, let him in to the flat and then into my room. Whilst they were all there I suffered another seizure (again multiple seizures are normal for me), but whilst it happened this guy told my flat mates to leave and that he would take care of me.

Thinking nothing sinister in it, they left him to it.

Next when I began to gain consciousness I can feel his naked body pressed against mine from behind, his hands all over me, kissing my neck and he had slightly undressed me. In my pod sizars state I was confused, scared and very weak, I could do nothing but lay there as he did all he wanted to me and wait until he was finished with me.

After he finished he got dressed and left the room. Once I composed myself following the effects of the seizure and the shock of what he did I went to the kitchen where he was sat talking happily with my flat mates. Of course I immediately asked him to leave and I made my flat mates know not to let him back in again although I did not tell them why. But before he left, he managed to steal my handbag which contained all my money and my passport.

I returned home to the UK so I could get a new passport and whilst there I had to tell my mother and father what happened. I then reported it to the police and they have reported it the inter-poll but I have not pushed it any further.

I am ashamed to say that I have yet to tell anyone else and this is why I do my want to push it forward legally. I am scared and still so long after it happened it haunts me constantly. I am still not ready for anyone else to know but after my mother died six months ago I now feel very alone with it. My father is so very very supportive of me but following the sudden death of my mother, his wife, he is so fragile also and he does upset him greatly what happened to me and I feel guilty to burden him further.

I know my story is long and complex, I hope it does not cause upset that I have written in such detail but truthfully I wanted to share my story in a way that is anonymous and get it off my chest.
