  • Go Mama Tell Him About Anger

“This was my hallway last Wednesday.

    Broken. Sharp. Treacherous.

    This was my hallway.

It was my son who did this.

Sometimes, often really, things break – irreparably. And it takes your breath away … straight away.

It took my breath away when my son stormed into the bathroom, frustrated, angry, fed-up for his very own, very significant to him, reasons. And when he chose to SLAM the bathroom door, causing the heavy mirror mounted to the front to slip out of the hardware holding it in place and crash onto the floor – a million, BROKEN pieces were left reflecting the afternoon light.

I was quiet. I surveyed the damage and took a deep breath. Put the dog outside so he wouldn’t cut his feet, put the cat in the basement for the same reason.

I walked into the backyard and felt the hot tears streaming down my face. It’s amazing how alone you can feel as a single parent in moments like these. I realized how scared and disappointed I felt. Did this really just happen? Yes. This was real.

And as I stood and considered whether or not this was an indication of his developing character, I heard his tears through the window above me, coming from inside the bathroom.

His soul hurt. This was not what he expected either. Hello, Anger – I don’t remember inviting you into my house.

    Scary.

    Terrified.

    Ashamed.

    Worried.

    Scared.

Deep breath, #MamaWarrior. Deep breath. That small, fragile soul needs you right now. He needs your very best. Your biggest compassion. Your most gentle and firm mama love and reassurance. More deep breaths. Go Mama.

Go. Go now. Go open the front door, tiptoe through the broken glass, hear him hearing you coming, watch the bathroom door crack open, see the face you love most in the world red with worry and wet with tears, his voice is suddenly so small: “Mama, I’ll never do it again, I am SO sorry.” More tears. More weeping. Such uncertainty on his sweet face.

Go Mama. Get him. Go now. Scoop him into your lap. Yup, you’re crying too. Damn this was big. Hold him tight. Watch how he curls into a ball in your arms so quickly. See how eager he is to be loved by you. To be reassured by you. See how small he still is. See how fragile that spirit is.

    I love you.

    You are safe.

    I am right here.

The worst part is over now.

    I’ve got you.

    I’m here.

    I love you.

Go Mama. Tell him about Anger. Tell him now. Anger is a really powerful feeling. You have a right to your Anger. Anger burns hot. It can purify. It can also destroy. He nods. He feels it. He’s met Anger now.

There’s a better way to show your big feelings.

We’ll work on it together …. tomorrow.

    I’m here to help you.

    You are safe.

You are never alone in your anger.

You are never alone in your fears.

    I’m here. We’re here together.

    Now we will clean together.

And we cleaned up the broken pieces. We swept and we vacuumed. It was quiet work. It was careful work. It was thoughtful work.

Sometimes things break. Sometimes we break them. It’s not the breaking that matters, the how or why. What matters is how we choose to respond to the broken-ness. Does it kill us? Does it throw us into a downward spiral of blame and punishment?

    OR

Does it help us remember how to love deepest? Does it push us towards compassion and over the hurdle of “rightness” and “wrongness” into LOVENESS?

    Yes. LOVENESS.

Go Mama. Go now. Get that baby of yours. Teach that. Show that. Live that. It’s called LOVENESS. Go. Now.”

  • Positive Post Of The Day-What’s In Your Cup

    I love this analogy!

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

“Well because someone bumped into me, of course!”

    Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

*Whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out.*

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It’s easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

*So we have to ask ourselves… “what’s in my cup?”

When life gets tough, what spills over?

    Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?

Or anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

    You choose! 💯

Today let’s work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others

  • You Don’t Have To Be Loud and Angry To Make A Difference

I made the mistake of thinking I had to be louder and angrier to make a difference.

I would scream and nag people, I thought I had to join in the bitching of others to be accepted by them, I had to be the most out spoken and rude to fit in.

    I was wrong.

I have never achieved anything worthwhile by raging, shouting at someone, putting all my energy into bad feelings, or forgetting to be compassionate, I have never made a friend who would say bad about me behind my back unlike before with all my false bitchy friends.

I give people the benefit of the doubt, I trust that their intentions are good. Where I can I make friends, build relationships and forge connections. I never forget kindness offered to me and am willing to repay any given to me at a moments notice.

I also make mistakes, make amends, practise again, get it wrong, try again, maybe get it right or do it all again. I learn so much from better people again and again and again.

Slow, steady, kind, controlled is how I do it, I hope I never forget.

You know what since I let my anger go, I sleep better, I feel better, I AM BETTER!

  • One Night A Snake-Inspirational Post

One night a snake… while it was looking for food, entered a carpenter’s workshop.

The carpenter, who was a rather untidy man, had left several of his tools lying on the floor.

One of them was a saw. As the snake went round and round the shop, he climbed over the saw, which gave him a little cut.

At once, thinking that the saw was attacking him, he turned around and bit it so hard that his mouth started to bleed. This made him very angry. He attacked again and again until the saw was covered with his blood.

Dying from his own wounds, the snake decided to wrap itself around the saw and began to squeeze with all its strength but it ended up killing itself.

Sometimes we react with anger not realizing we are only hurting ourselves. In life, sometimes it’s better to ignore situations, ignore people and their behavior. People say and do things but it’s your decision to react in a positive way.

  • This Man Abused My Daughter And Is Now Free

Three years ago Jay-gerri Willoughby took to social media to make others aware of this awful man, the post has been shared thousands times .

Willoughby said “On the 9th of April 2015 at approximately 2:30am I walked in on this filthy fucken slime KODIE WAYNE GHILOTTI in bed with my daughter who was 8 years old at the time.

At the time it took me about 2 minutes to realize what I was really seeing. I pulled the blankets down and seen with my own eyes he was naked and my daughter had no pants on. I can not remember much after that as I blanked out.

For the last year my family and I have been a massive emotional roller coaster.

On the 31st of March 2016 he was officially sentenced to ONE! YEAR of jail time and 3 years probation for 4 counts of indecent conduct with a minor. The judge sympathized that he handed himself in and didn’t apply for bail. It was his first KNOWN offense for this behavior.. He also took in to consideration the effect this has had on my entire family and decided this was the appropriate sentence. ONE FUCKEN YEAR!!! to justify the betrayal, pain and loss we have endured his abuse of trust to a child. I’m disgusted in the system. The sentence is an injustice in itself. I now understand why some don’t come forward. Words can not express the anger and pain.

PLEASE SHARE THIS I WANT HIS FACE ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA So no child will ever fall prey to his sick ways ever again as he will be out on the streets in just over a week.

    #NameAndShame

Since this post has been put on social media the man has been released from prison and is free to live his life and potentially abuse another innocent child.

  • Do You Know What Dyspraxia Is?

My son Elijah has dyspraxia, he’s 8 and many people I speak with do not know what is is.

So here’s some facts about dyspraxia…

It is thought that 5-10% of the population have dyspraxia. There may be many more people who have dyspraxia, people often find the statistics very surprising as dyspraxia is a lot more common than you might think!

Dyspraxia is more common in males than females.

It is thought that males are four times more likely to be affected by dyspraxia than females. However, there might not be as much difference as statistics suggest. The Dyspraxia Foundation’s theme for this week is “Is it a battle of the sexes?” and looks at the fact that females often go through school, university and even the workplace without knowing.

Dyspraxia is not the same as dyslexia. Despite the fact that: they sound the same, they are both classed as specific learning difficulties, and they have overlaps such as difficulties with short term memory and organisation, they are two different things! There’s been so many times where I’ve told someone my son has dyspraxia and they’ve thought I meant dyslexia!

The signals sent from their brain to their body get muddled.

Most people’s brains will send signals to their body successfully, enabling them to perform tasks that require balance and co-ordination, to speak fluently, to process things at a normal speed. Whereas for those of us with dyspraxia, these signals get muddled – you could even picture them as tangled wires. This can affect us in a variety of ways.

Dyspraxia can affect the following areas: physical, speech and language, social, eye movements, sensory, spatial awareness, memory, organisation, concentration, emotion, sense of direction and thought processing.

As you can tell, dyspraxia affects a variety of things. This means that summarising it is not an easy task and I’ve probably missed something off the list!

Physical – fine motor skills, gross motor skills, balance and co-ordination.

Speech and language – difficulty pronouncing certain words, stuttering, getting words muddled up, difficulty organising the sequence of the sentence, difficulty controlling tone and volume of speech.

Social – difficulty with eye contact, literal thinking, difficulty knowing when to interject in a conversation particularly in large groups, may repeat ourselves, background noise makes social situations more difficult.

    Eye movements – tracking, relocating.

Sensory – over/under-sensitive to touch, temperature, noise, smell, taste, pain, light.

Spatial awareness – knowing where they are in relation to other objects/people, difficulty judging amount of pressure to apply to things (I wasn’t sure what other category this would fit into!).

Memory – difficulty with short-term memory, following a long list of instructions can be difficult.

Organisation – made more difficult due to difficulties with memory, organisation doesn’t come naturally to them.

Concentration – daydream very easily, difficult to concentrate for long periods of time, concentration can be made even more difficult by background noise.

Emotion – tendency to get easily stressed and frustrated, difficulty adapting to changes in routines.

Sense of direction – getting lost easily, difficulty telling left and right apart.

Thought processing – thought processes can be slower than for others, tend to have lots of thoughts at once – can make getting to sleep difficult as their brain can’t ‘shut down’ easily.

So if someone tells you they have dyspraxia or their child I hope you have more understanding

  • If You Play With Her I’ll Smack You!!!

One mother has taken to Facebook to rant, her child Deon has previously had behaviour issues and struggled to control her anger. How would you react if a child was threatened not to play with your child?

    The mother said
“BE ADULTS NOT A COWERED people seem to have a problem with their children playing with Deon.

I have now been told on a number of occasions of adults threatening their child with physical abuse if they play with her, Deon has had anger issues in the past and she has learned to control her anger and her school would agree before they finished up that they had noticed a big improvement in her behaviour. She is a 7 Year old child that cowardly parents pick on and even sent a letter from angry parents all you are is cowards.

I have now had a child crying scared to go home because she might get slapped for playing with Deon.

I wont stop any child playing with my children even if they have had arguments in the past, they’re kids that’s what kids do and i will contact social workers for the children that are scared as this is not on growing adults picking on children I would approach the adults but I don’t know who they are.

Any issues with my children contact me don’t take it out on your child”.

How would you react in this situation?

Do you stop your child playing with anyone?

If so please let us know in the comments section
