  • Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Drink Energy Drinks

    Did you know…

For every 20 ounce Monster you drink, it takes 6.3 gallons of water to flush it out of your kidneys. 😳 It would take the average person more than 14 days to consume that much water.

For every 20 ounce Sugar Free Red Bull you drink, it takes nearly a gallon of water to flush it out of your kidneys. 😳 The average person drinks less than a gallon of plain drinking water in 2 days.

☠️ Energy drinks hyperstimulate your adrenal glands to increase hydrocortisone and adrenalin production, and then the GABA amino acid comes in to suppress the hyperstimulation so you don’t feel jittery. All this extra work for your adrenal glands can lead to adrenal fatigue or crash. The extra hydrocortisone your adrenal glands are producing makes you resistant to insulin.

☠️ Throw in all those artificial sweeteners that energy drinks contain, and your pancreas will be working overtime. This can lead to weight gain that shows up specifically in the abdomen. All of this hyperstimulation and production can cause metabolic syndrome, the initial symptoms of which include abdominal obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol. As metabolic syndrome progresses, it leads to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and nerve damage.

😦Each energy drink contains anywhere between 40 to 240 mg of caffeine in them. While they might increase mental alertness for a few hours, energy drinks have also been known to cause irregular heartbeat, anxiety, jitters, increased blood pressure and thickening of the blood.

😱Additionally, a 2015 study published in the Journal of Medical Cases found that consuming energy drinks can induce cardiac arrest.💔

Have you ever poured a Red Bull or Monster into milk… it curdles in virtually no time 🤢 Seriously there are some nasty videos out there about this 🤮 Just think of what it does to your insides!

Mixing energy drinks and alcohol has been deadly.

Drink smart. Teach your kids about these facts. Fortunately we all have better options!

  • The Devastating Affects Of A Stroke

Some of you will know us, many of you won’t. Below, on the left, is a picture of me and my husband Geoff from November 2018, all dressed up ready for a going ‘out out’ evening.

On the right is me and him yesterday in Queens Hospital. Why you might ask? Well let me tell you our story and ask that you please share it far and wide to help raise awareness of the catastrophe that struck us almost 3 weeks ago.

Geoff was a very fit, 48 year old man who adored and worked hard for his family as most of us do. He went to the gym 3 times a week, didn’t have high BP or cholestrerol, never smoked, ate reasonably healthy and drank alcohol in moderation. On 28th March, I came downstairs to find he had had what we very quickly discovered to be a hemorrhagic stroke, the worse kind and one which only strikes around 15% of people.

In the early hours of Saturday 30th March, he underwent an emergency life saving craniectomy at Queens in Romford, the most specialist for Neuro in the South and possibly the country. As a result he now only really has the right side of his skull and a little on the left.

He remained in Neuro critical care for 11 days before being transferred to the acute ward at Queens where he is waiting for a bed on Broomfield’s stroke ward to begin his rehabilitation. It is looking likely that he will be transferred after some time and after a cranioplasty to replace his skull, to a specialist rehab unit where they will hopefully be able to work on his major impairments more closely.

This time last week, he was still on a ventilator in critical care. In his 4 days on the acute ward, his progress has been simply astounding. He has some speech, but not much understanding, he can play games, he can draw, he can sing, he can feed himself and most importantly, he can say ‘I love you’. The three little words that are thrown around so much but not always with real meaning.

Our road ahead is a majorly long one and one we never dreamed we would travel as this wasn’t how our lives were ‘meant to be’. Geoff and I have only been together for 11 years and married for nearly 9. He truly is my soulmate and my best friend, I’m not posting this for sympathy. I want to share my story with you all to raise awareness of the devastating effects of stroke and offer you the advice to hug and love those near and dear to you just that little bit tighter. Please can I ask that you keep sharing our story and when I have time, I will set up a page where hopefully you will all be interested in following his recovery. Thank you and god bless you all x

  • Crazy Way To Prevent And Cure Hay Fever

One man thinks he has found the cure for hay fever but it may not be for everyone, he said:

All my life I suffered from hay fever. I pretty much choked to death every summer. Then a few years ago, an old man (crazy old man according to my wife) told me to try nettles.

Basically, as soon as the spring starts, he told me, and the first nettles sprout out, pick a bunch and sting myself with them. Do that once a week until the end of autumn. Apparently this would make my immune system concentrate on nettles and forget about the pollen.

To my wife’s horror and the amusement of the fellow walkers in parks and forests, I soon started the “therapy”. This is my hand in the nettles bush 🙂 And lo and behold it worked…I haven’t had any problems with pollen for 3 years now…

So there you have it. Just wanted to share with you my experience. Just in case someone is interested in use of herbs for medicinal purposes…

And as the law requires, here is the disclaimer: don’t do this at home 🙂

  • Button Battery Know The Dangers

    Button battery know the dangers.

Eric Boggess has shared the effects of button batteries, do you know the dangers of button batteries?

I for one will most certainly be making sure one are locked away.

“So, I saw this idea at an Emergency Medicine Conference this weekend. Thought I would try it out and share the results. This is what happens to a hot dog when a button battery is placed inside for only two hours. Now, imagine this being the inside of your child/infant/toddler’s stomach or intestine. Within only a few hours it can cause a perforation (hole) within the stomach lining. So here’s the PSA, if you have a child that has swallowed one or you are concerned may have swallowed one, go immediately to the ER. Please, keep out of the reach of children, along with toys and electronic devices which use these batteries. Please share”.
