  • He Was Guilty Of Being Black

My husband is 31 years old. My husband can proofread a paper to perfection! He makes the best pork chops and neckbones. My husband was raised in an extremely wholesome home where they were not even allowed to watch Harry Potter.

My husband has never tried any drugs, not even weed. He has never stolen from anyone, not even a corner store. My husband treats me and our sons like royalty. He serves at our local church faithfully and helps anyone he can. None of this stopped my husband from becoming a suspect in Semmes.

My husband wanted to do me a favor one night when he got home late from work. He got my keys and drove around the corner to fill my tank at the gas station. While there, an older white woman was at a pump across from him and he noticed she appeared very nervous and stared at him. He said she got in her vehicle and got on her phone and pulled off to an area near the gas station.

Within minutes police cars pulled in and surrounded him. He was questioned about why he was out. He was questioned about his activity earlier in the day. He was told he fit a description. They asked who’s car he was driving. He was told he could not leave. He was told the description was simply a black man. Not a 5 ft 7 inch black man of around 220 lbs who loves WWE, macaroni and cheese, and the Temptations. Just black.

The older woman was now watching and the cops revealed she had called in his suspicious behavior of pumping gas. And now he was a suspect because he fit the description of being black. He was humiliated. He was emasculated. He was angry. He was helpless. He was on his way to being cuffed when a white man stepped in.

An older white man told the officers they were wrong and that my husband had come from a different direction than the robbery they had mentioned. The officers released my husband after this. Not because my husband told them multiple times he was innocent. Not because there were two car seats in the back of my car.

My husband’s voice meant nothing. The only voice that penetrated those badges was a white one. My hard working, kind hearted, silly husband was guilty because of his skin and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. The sight of him caused a woman to call the police. He said he wanted to scream.

He wanted to fight. He wanted to yell at the top of his lungs that he was a man and he mattered. If he had, he would be deemed aggressive. He would be resisting so he said he kept telling himself he had to make it home to me and the boys. He knew these men could kill him and justify it. He came home a changed man. I am a changed woman. We cried. We prayed and we have healed since this took place but it changed us.

Issues that once felt somewhat distant became our reality. So, when you dismiss the plight of black men in America you diminish the ever present fear within our community. You are willfully ignorant. If you think people make this up or are only apprehended by the police when they deserve it… you are part of the problem. Open your eyes but more importantly open your hearts to the reality of being black in America. We don’t get the luxury of ignoring it because we live it. This picture of my precious family looks threatening to some people. My boys are cuddly and cute until they aren’t anymore and then they become a threat too. My heart aches for our country and I feel so helpless. Lord, please heal the hearts and minds our land!

  • Track and Trace Is Ludicrous

Of all the counter productive ideas that this incompetent bunch of public school boy clowns have come up with, Trace & Test has to be the most ludicrous of all 😂😂😂

Please correct me if I’ve got this wrong, but I’ve just watched an infomercial on it, and this is my understanding 🤔

If you develop symptoms, you must contact the T&T hotline, grass yourself up, self quarantine for 14 days and grass anyone you’ve come into contact with…

Those poor bastads then have to quarantine for 14 days too 🤔 because of you 😏

    Right… already it’s ridiculous 🧐

Just imagine how many people could be in 14 day quarantine because of one person 🤔 and suppose you’ve just went back to work 😱 oh, and if you did, all your work colleagues, customers, fellow traders etc, will also have to do the same 🤷‍♂️🧐

Not shaping up too clever is it 🤔

    But wait for it….

After 14 days isolating, as a result of someone you’ve been in contact with, suppose you fail to develop symptoms or are A-symptomatic 🤷‍♂️ and you don’t test positive…
You go back to work, and in no time at all the same cycle starts in your workplace from another T&T on someone who’s been in contact with another work mate 🤷‍♂️

Surely at this point of the brainstorming session, someone must have said “Hold in a minute!!… Thant’s not workable!!” 😏🤷‍♂️🤔

This is a merry go round that will spin into disaster in no time at all, let alone get the country back in its feet 🤔

Who the actual FK comes up with this nonsense 🤷‍♂️ and how the FK does it get through parliament 🤷‍♂️

    Maybe… just maybe… we’re being played here 🤔 god forbid 😂😂😂😂😂

    PLEASE 🤪🤔😂😏😞🙏🤪🤔😂
Don’t know whether to laugh or cry 🤷‍♂️

  • A man’s Maternity Leave ignorance – a belated apology

    A man’s Maternity Leave ignorance – a belated apology

My wife’s had 3 maternity leaves. All of which I’ve been in work fulltime getting home for 6pm to spend an hour doing the glory bits. I’m not so conceited that I didn’t realise it was a tough gig, but I would rebuff any bemoaning from Mrs Secret Dad Lad with ‘being at work isn’t exactly a f**king holiday’. Turns out, comparatively, it is.

During lockdown my wife’s more demanding job has meant she’s had to basically continue to work fulltime, albeit remotely. This has meant that I’ve had my own ‘Paternity Leave’ looking after our kids (Josephine 5, Ernie 3 and Walt 1) whilst their Mum works away in the loft. Here’s a chronicle of a typical day:

    • After helping with breakfast, Wife exits stage left.
    • J/E ask for a biscuit
    • Catch W climbing in washing machine whilst explaining to the others that biscuits are not part of breakfast.
    • Put Netflix on.
    • J sends E to ask for a biscuit.
    • Break up fight over who has the remote.
    • Put most guilty one on naughty step.
    • Catch W drinking from dog’s water bowl.
    • Read him a book he hates.
    • Forget one is on naughty step, they wander back to watch Netflix.
    • J/E ask for biscuit. We negotiate. They get raisins.
    • Decide they’ve watched too much Netflix, get crafts out.
    • W does a massive shit, spend 10 minutes fighting him to allow me the pleasure of wiping his arse.
    • Come back to crafts, but they’ve left and are back watching Netflix.
    • Clear up crafts, wishing whoever created slime a slow, gruesome death.
    • Give them early lunch because they’re pissing me off.
    • They hate my lunch. Give them crisps.
    • Put them in garden.
    • I tell E off for purposely lobbing balls into next door’s garden, meanwhile J tries to force W to play with her and he’s like ‘nah’ and bites her.
    • They’re all f**king crying.
    • We go inside.
    • I put on a film for big two, take up tired Mr bitey for his nap.
    • I hide for a bit.
    • They find me like they’re sniffer dogs and I’m selling pills at a festival.
    • They ask for a biscuit. I give them several just so they’ll f**k off.
    • They scream ‘Daddy we’re bored of this film!’ repeatedly and very loudly.
    • I run in and shout at them through gritted teeth that they’re going to wake their little brother up.
    • Little brother wakes up and starts crying.
    • Resist temptation to demonstrate how much I currently despise my two eldest children and go get W up.
    • The next 3 hours is a complete f**king parenting shitshow.
    • Mummy comes down from the loft and they turn into golden children.

And, it’s pretty much that everyday. Relentless doesn’t cover it. I may have it slightly tougher in one sense during lockdown as there’s less options to escape. But I also don’t have a newborn hanging off my tit, sterilization faff to worry about and an expectation from wider society that it should all come naturally to me. Plus, if the shit really does hit the fan, I have another parent available upstairs who could help me out.

What I’m getting at is all you maternity leave survivors, fair f**king play. I’ve experienced a small amount of what you endure(d) and I’m flagging. We love our kids, but when they’re young looking after them can be ferocious. So, to my wife especially, I apologise for taking your daily efforts in rearing our kids so magnificently for granted. I’ve had a big taste of humble pie. Sorry it’s taken so long.

Also, if you can give me access to the magical housework fairy you must have employed during your maternity leave – that would be great 👌🧚‍♀️

  • Gripe Water Serious Danger

    Please read!!!
So last night I had the biggest scare of my life! After feeding Atlas-Odin I gave him gripe water which on the label states suitable from 4 weeks old.

He then began choking and went blue then purple and then floppy and non responsive for 10 whole minutes before the ambulance arrived. All my 1st aid training was taken over with the panic after a few mins of back slaps over the knee doing nothing to help. I was literally screaming in the street and banging on doors for help, thankfully I have amazing neighbours who helped me to save his life when i was convinced he had already died.

We spent 6 hours in the hospital and I was luckily enough to take him back home last night not that I slept from sitting watching him sleep to make sure he was breathing.
Anyway in the hospital the Dr who was treating him said that although gripe water says on the bottle suitable from 4 weeks he would never recommend it to be used on a baby less than 3 months old and it’s not uncommon for babies to choke on it.

Nowhere is this written on the product and it nearly cost my son his life so please share this information with any new mums you may know, I wouldn’t wish anybody to experience what we went through with Atlas-Odin yesterday those images of him in that state will haunt me forever!

Edit: A few people have questioned how he managed to choke on gripe water and the explanation given at the hospital was that it would have been due to the taste. It doesn’t have a nice fruity flavour like infacol and other children’s medicines infact it has a harsh taste that on the bottle it states most babies dont like. The taste hitting the back of their throat can cause the choking response.

Edit: some people seem to be assuming that it was how the gripe water was administered that caused Atlas-Odin to choke. Doctors confirmed this was not the case I used a 1ml syringe giving no more than 0.1ml at a time it is due to taste. If ur baby likes the taste they obviously havent choked but that doesn’t dismiss that many others do so if anyone would like to promote gripe water please write your own post rather than doing so on mine as my child nearly died!

  • To Everyone Blaming The Government

To everyone blaming the government for the Covid19 death toll surpassing that of Spain and France and calling them incompetent, bear this in mind:
It is possible to change an argument in your favour with statistics even if they are not truly representative. Try looking at it logically and dispassionately.

If you look at the population levels of the 3 countries mentioned, the U.K. has the highest at around 70 million, compared to 66 million in France and 49 million in Spain.
Then look at the size of the area these people are living in : The UK 250,000 km2, France 650,000 km2, Spain 506,000 km2.
    Figured it out yet? No?

The U.K. has a population density of 280 people per km2
France has a population density of 102 people per km2
Spain has a population density of 97 people per km2

Know what that means? That means, ( according to figures from google today) the U.K., despite having nearly 3 times (275%) the population density of France and (289%) that of Spain, has death figures which are only 8% more than France and 7.5% more than Spain.

But, it’s easier for the media to use the headline number in order to create the hysteria and panic they are so desperate for to give this story legs, so why let facts get in the way of the narrative.
Wake up people, use your brains, not your emotions.
    Have a lovely day.
